Migos Link Up With Popcaan In Jamaica For “Why Not” Music Video

Migos are back in action. The ATL trio arrived with their latest body of work, Culture III — the final installment in the trilogy — on Friday. Fans have been more than excited to hear new music from Migos but this body of work, in particular, felt like a triumphant return after claims that they had fallen off.

The crew have been slowly unveiling new visuals off of the project since “Avalanche” last week. They swiftly followed it up with “Modern Day” and now, they’ve returned with the music video for “Why Not.” The group maintains a similar aesthetic to both “Modern Day” and “Straightenin” with a mixture of grainy, candid shots and high-quality performance clips. This one shows Migos on the beaches of Jamaica where they’re riding around on 4-wheelers. The video also includes a cameo from Popcaan who is spotted along with Takeoff and Quavo among a group of people turning up.

A$AP Rocky Says He’s “Truly Blessed” For Rihanna Support During Sweden Trial

A$AP Rocky experienced the hardships of international court systems firsthand after he was arrested in Sweden. The rapper, along with two associates, ended up locked up following an altercation with two men who were harassing them on the streets. The ordeal played out in front of the world as the rapper was locked up in Sweden until the trial ended.

Rocky’s arrest and incarceration are explored in the new documentary Stockholm Syndromewhich debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday. The rapper spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the documentary and the support he received from across the world including from his girlfriend, Rihanna.

The rapper explained that it’s “important having that support in real life” when he was asked about Rihanna’s advocacy for his freedom. “It’s amazing and I’m honestly truly blessed, for real,” he said about Rihanna who makes an appearance in the documentary.

Stockholm Syndrome also documents Rocky’s rise to fame in the rap game prior to his Sweden arrest. He said that it was important for him to offer his perspective on the situation without feeling the pity of the public weighing on him.

“I just wanted to tell my story without really complaining or without, you know, seeming like a victim, or like I wanted a pity party or what not,” he continued. “So, here it is.”

Is Pooh Shiesty On Suicide Watch?

Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty appeared in court last week, where he had his bond revoked and was informed that he would need to remain incarcerated until he goes on trial. The rapper was arrested following a shooting incident at a Miami strip club. He allegedly fired a shot at the ground, which hit a security guard in the ankle. Given his previous arrest in Florida a few months earlier, prosecutors were unimpressed that he managed to find himself in a similar situation again.

The rumor mill has been active with fans discussing Pooh Shiesty’s attire in court. Instead of an orange or beige jumpsuit, the rapper was wearing a green vest that is allegedly given to incarcerated people who are on suicide watch. A former inmate explained the vest in a TikTok video.

According to the TikTok user, a “turtle vest” is given to inmates who tell cops that they are suicidal. “They put you on twenty-four-hour surveillance and they make you wear one of these,” he said about Pooh’s vest. “You cannot rip this up. They do that so you can’t make some crazy thing out of it, like a noose.”

People have been discussing his turtle vest on social media, commenting on the rapper possibly being on suicide watch and giving their opinions ofn this. Hopefully, Pooh Shiesty is well and gets out soon. Read what people have been saying below.

Lakers Make LeBron James’ Number Change Official

LeBron James was known for wearing the number 23 while in Cleveland and when he went to Miami, he changed to the number 6. This eventually became yet another iconic number for LeBron as he won two championships with the Heat while making it to four-straight NBA Finals. Once he left Miami, he went back to the number 23 which he has also been wearing in Los Angeles for the last three seasons.

At the beginning of the 2019-2020 season, LeBron promised to give Anthony Davis the number 23, which would allow him to go back to 6. Nike wouldn’t approve of this and, in the end, LeBron kept his number. Now, with “Space Jam” coming out soon, LeBron has been given the go-ahead to change back to the number 6 and on Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers came through with an official announcement for the change.

With LeBron going to the number 6, it remains to be seen whether or not Davis will want to reclaim his old 23. Either way, this is going to be a unique change for all of the fans and we’re sure LeBron is excited to relive his old number 6 glory days.

Of course, this doesn’t actually mean much in the grand scheme of things, although it’s certainly going to do wonders for Lakers jersey sales.

Isaiah Rashad Announces New Single “Headshots (4r Da Locals)”

Top Dawg Entertainment is keeping the wheels in motion, though release dates for some of the most anticipated releases from the camp have yet to be announced. Isaiah Rashad emerged last month with the release of his latest single, “Lay Wit Ya” ft. Duke Deuce, then last week, offered “200/Warning” which apparently did not make the tracklist for his forthcoming album, The House is Burning

Fans have been waiting for the release of this album for quite some time. In his cover story with The Fader, it was stated that the album is due out in June. Again, no release date has been set but fans will be glad to know that Rashad will be keeping the stream of music consistent until then. This Friday, the rapper will unveil the second single off of the project, “Headshots (4r Da Locals).” The announcement was accompanied by a slow, melodic snippet that offers a better glimpse of what we could expect from his upcoming album.

While the new release could hopefully be followed by The House Is Burning, the rapper is scheduled to perform at Day N Vegas 2021 this November which boasts Kendrick Lamar as a headlining act.

Check out the snippet from Isaiah Rashad’s upcoming single, “Headshots (4r Da Locals)” below, and let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

A Longtime ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ And ‘Seinfeld’ Collaborator Says Lil Dicky Reminds Him Of Larry David

Getting compared to Larry David is a great thing if you’re working in comedy, and perhaps not as great a thing if it’s in reference to your social skills. But for Lil Dicky, that kind of comparison is exactly what he’s been going for all along.

The rapper and brain behind the surprise hit Dave is known for a lot of things, all of them sort of referencing parts of his own life and the musical persona that first made him famous. His success with Dave only tightens the connections between his persona, his real life and the show’s plot points loosely including all of the above. And if that sounds a bit like David’s work on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, well, you’re not alone in thinking that.

In a GQ profile of Dicky, the Larry David connections are front and center in a very flattering way. Early in the piece his mother quite literally says “You’re no Jerry Seinfeld. But you’re funny” when describing Dicky (real name Dave Burd) and his big ambitions. Apparently he used to straight-up ask his parents if he was a comedic genius, though he didn’t like the answer he got:

His friend Benny, the producer and hitmaking songwriter Benny Blanco, remembers this too. “Oh my God,” he says. “He’d be like, ‘Mom, Dad, am I a genius?’ And they’d be like, ‘Eh.’”

With two seasons of Dave now under his belt, though, the comparison isn’t nearly as absurd. And one longtime David collaborator is willing to broach the subject. The piece discusses Burd’s creative process and OCD tendencies at length, exploring how he first learned he could make people laugh and the stress that introduced into his life. The juxtaposition between attempted genius and the mental strain of actually realizing that makes him a difficult person to work with at times:

At work, the neurosis has a name: The No Stone Unturned Method. This means he must try out every single possible version of something, whether it’s a lyric or a joke, before he’s satisfied. “He’s the worst person I’ve ever been in the studio with,” Benny Blanco tells me. “But also the best person.”

The flipside of his neurosis is stratospheric confidence. The co-creator of Dave, Jeff Schaffer, remembers the first time he met Burd: “He’s talking to me, a stranger, about how he’s going to be so huge. He’s telling me he’s going to be the biggest entertainer in the history of entertaining. And I’m like, Oh, he’s delusional. This is great. I love this.” Schaffer, who’s also worked on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, adds that he sees “a lot of Larry” (that would be David) in Burd.

That’s high praise for a guy many know from funny rap songs, though the perception of Burd is certainly changing with Dave. The show is funny, and very successful, and as we see more of Burd’s work, it makes all of his talk about a wildly successful career not just more reasonable, but an actual reality.
