SOURCE SPORTS: Jake Paul to Face Ryan Bourland in March 2 Fight

Jake Paul Set to Enter Deal with Showtime Sports

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) has announced a thrilling matchup between international sensation Jake Paul (8-1, 5 KOs) and professional boxer Ryan Bourland (17-2, 6 KOs). Set for Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, the 8-round cruiserweight clash positions Paul against his toughest opponent.

Paul vs. Bourland is the co-main event alongside the Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano vs. Nina Meinke matchup, presented by CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy. The event marks Serrano’s return to Puerto Rico after becoming the island’s first undisputed world boxing champion, male or female.

Bourland, a seasoned boxer with years of experience, brings an impressive record of 17 wins and two losses to the ring. The event, available as part of the DAZN subscription package, underlines Jake Paul’s commitment to making the sport accessible to fans globally. Moreover, Paul will donate his full fight purse to Boxing Bullies, his nonprofit dedicated to renovating youth boxing gyms across Puerto Rico.

“I’ve always said my goal is to become a world champion. I beat a pro boxer in December in the first round, someone who’s been boxing their entire life, and what did I do next? I went straight back to camp to get ready to face my next opponent, a professional boxer who has twice as many professional fights under his belt than I do,” said Jake Paul. “It’s a new year, it’s an even better me, and I’m facing an even more experienced, seasoned boxer on Saturday, March 2 as co-main to the Puerto Rican GOAT, Amanda Serrano. I’m fighting for experience, not for the money, and to show my love for this beautiful island I’ll be donating my entire fight purse from this event to my nonprofit Boxing Bullies to help renovate gyms across Puerto Rico.”

Following Paul’s remarkable performance in December, where he secured a first-round knockout against Andre August, the upcoming bout aims to showcase Paul’s growth as a boxer. Since turning pro in 2020, Paul has garnered accolades for his dedication to the sport, receiving recognition for Knockout of the Year and Breakout Boxer of the Year.

The event is expected to set records, building on Paul’s previous achievements, including the highest-recorded gate for a boxing event in Orlando. The co-main event promises an electrifying night for boxing enthusiasts, with Ryan Bourland posing a formidable challenge to Jake Paul’s quest for world champion status.

“Jake Paul steps into the ring with his social media clout, but let’s not mistake followers for experience or skill,” said Ryan Bourland. “While he’s been busy chasing likes, I’ve been honing my craft for years, stepping into the ring and beating real boxers. On Saturday, March 2 I will shock the world and put an end to Jake Paul’s boxing career.”

“Jake Paul has broken record after record and in this fight, he’s once again showing what a tremendous person he is as well,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of MVP. “Not only is Jake taking on yet another more experienced professional boxer in Ryan Bourland, but he’s also supporting Amanda Serrano as she headlines this historic event at the legendary Coliseo de Puerto Rico, demonstrating his and MVP’s commitment to equality in the sport. I applaud Jake’s continued commitment to giving back to the youth after he announced he is donating his entire purse from this fight to Boxing Bullies so the organization can continue their mission of renovating boxing gyms to give boys and girls a positive environment to learn. The world continues to watch Jake, and he continues to deliver. Thank you to DAZN for working with us to make this event available to fans around the world and to Celsius for their continued support and partnership. Serrano vs. Meinke featuring Paul vs. Bourland is going to be historic and we can’t wait to bring this amazing card to Puerto Rico.”

In addition to Paul vs. Bourland, the event features other notable matchups, including Javon “Wanna” Walton’s global debut as MVP’s latest signee, WBO junior flyweight world champion Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez facing Rene Santiago, and a clash between Puerto Rico’s Kystal Roado and Mexico’s Gloria Munguilla in a super flyweight bout. Amanda Serrano’s presence as the unified featherweight world champion adds further prestige to the event, contributing to MVP’s commitment to equality in women’s boxing. The Serrano vs. Meinke bout follows Serrano’s historic unified championship fight in October and the Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green vs. Franchón Crews-Dezurn WBC super middleweight and WBA Interim world title bout in December.

Renowned Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump Produces Documentary ‘How to Sue the Klan’

Ben Crump to Announce Lawsuit Against FL Gov. Ron DeSantis Over AP African American Studies Course

Highly acclaimed civil rights attorney Ben Crump takes on a new role as a producer for the impactful documentary How to Sue the Klan. Set to be screened during Black History Month, the film highlights the courageous endeavors of five Black women who confronted the Ku Klux Klan in a groundbreaking 1982 civil trial, ultimately emerging victorious.

Following a racially motivated mass shooting in Chattanooga, the women utilized the little-known Civil War-era Ku Klux Klan Act, securing a triumph that remains a model in the battle against racial violence today. How to Sue the Klan explores the use of legal strategies to combat such violence, focusing on a landmark trial that set a precedent, hitting the Klan where it hurt the most: in their bank accounts.

“‘How to Sue the Klan tells the grueling story of the brave women of the Chattanooga Five in their fight against injustice,” said Crump. “The film’s plot mirrors our modern times, as we still battle the ugly face of racism in our country with civil action. I am honored to be part of the outstanding team that made this film come to life and look forward to sharing it with the world.”

The documentary delves into the aftermath of the trial, the enduring legacy of the women who fought for justice, and the ongoing relevance of the Ku Klux Klan Act in today’s fight against organized hate. Crump’s involvement adds significance to the project, following his impactful work in the Netflix documentary “Civil,” where he fought for justice for the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Black farmers. How to Sue the Klan serves as a powerful call to action for attorneys and advocates to utilize civil rights tools, emphasizing the continued importance of the Ku Klux Klan Act in pursuing justice. Global recording artist, actor, and community organizer Vic Mensa and 93Boyz and ‘The Delta’ extended their Feed The Block / Warm The Block initiative in Pilsen over the weekend (1.26). The collaborative effort aimed to assist the unhoused community by providing warm meals, toiletries, and cold-weather essentials.

Joining Mensa were cast members from Showtime’s The Chi, including Jason Weaver, Luke James, Jacob Latimore, and Hannaha Hall. The warm meals were generously supplied by a local black-owned restaurant, ‘The Delta.’ The Feed The Block / Warm The Block initiative, initiated by Mensa and Eldridge Williams, owner of ‘The Delta,’ emphasizes resource investment to support underserved and disenfranchised communities, embodying Mensa’s commitment to community service.

“Feed The Block is an initiative we’ve been doing through 93Boyz, my cannabis company, since the onset of winter in Chicago,” Vic Mensa says regarding Friday’s giveback. “The cold months in this city can be brutal, exacerbating the already dire circumstances that thousands of unhoused people face in Chicago every year. By partnering with a local Black-owned restaurant called The Delta, we’ve been able to serve countless meals to those in need as well as provide warm clothing and supplies such as sanitary products, toiletries, etc. A primary pillar of 93Boyz ethos has always been reinvestment into community; Feed The Block is one of our many ways of giving back.”
