Regina King Opens Up About Her Son’s Suicide
Regina King has said she has come to terms with her son’s 2022 suicide. “I respect and understand that he didn’t want to be here anymore. And that’s a hard thing for other people to receive, because they did not live our experience, did not live Ian’s journey,” King told Good Morning America. However, she also noted that his death would always be with her. “I know that I share this grief with everyone, but no one else is Ian’s mom. Only me. And so it’s mine, and the sadness will never go away. It’ll always be with me. And I think I saw somewhere, ‘The sadness is a reminder of how much he means to me,’ you know? Happy sorrow.”
King’s son, Ian, killed himself in 2022. He had struggled with depression for many years. “Of all the things that we had gone through with therapy, psychiatrists, and programs, and Ian was like, ‘I’m tired of talking, Mom,’” King reflected. The interview, which is King’s first major discussion of Ian’s death, has been met with an outpouring of love from fans.

Unfortunately, however, he wasn’t actually speaking with Baby Keem at all.

In screenshots of the DMs, Ye answers a Baby Keem fan page’s request for the release date. “We in the lab now with it. Gonna release in May. May 3rd,” he wrote. “When can we go in,” Ye also asked, “Should we do Praise God 2mrw.” By the looks of things, Ye thought he was chatting with the real Baby Keem. While it’s certainly an unconventional way to reveal a release date, fans are thrilled nonetheless to finally have their questions answered.
It’s also pretty far out from when the album was originally expected, which will undoubtedly leave some listeners disappointed. After all, the Chicago MC just told supporters that there are only some “final tweaks” to be made before Vultures 2 is complete. This got them thinking it would arrive in no time. Method Man has revealed his desire to play Reggie Jackson in a biopic. “I want to do a biop[ic] of Reggie Jackson. Because when I lived in the Bronx, he was king, Mr. October, man. I mean, he had a hell of a life, hell of a career. I watched the documentary about him ’cause I already knew the kind of person he was, but watching that documentary — it opened up a whole new mentality for me. When we look at baseball players, we like, ‘You white’ — it’s just our assumption or ignorance or whatever. But that man was so much about his people. Not just about his people but equal opportunities for Black players in a game that’s older than all of us — him included — where we weren’t even invited to the table, let alone felt like we deserved a seat,” Method Man said.
However, he also revealed that he hates the “politics” of working in Hollywood. “That Hollywood machine is—I love the work,” he said. “Let’s just say that. Let’s get that out of the way. It’s just the politics I don’t like. The taking meetings and things of that nature. I don’t like it. It’s just not something I like to do. I had to show them that I was actually serious about it because I mean, the first name they hear is Method Man. They don’t hear Clifford Smith. I had to strip back the layers of Method Man. I had to embrace it because Method Man got me in the door. But then once I got in there, I had to show them that I was willing to do the work. I’m good at the work and give me the f-cking job.
