Method Man Wants To Play Reggie Jackson, Reveals Biggest Thing He Hates About Hollywood

Method Man has revealed his desire to play Reggie Jackson in a biopic. “I want to do a biop[ic] of Reggie Jackson. Because when I lived in the Bronx, he was king, Mr. October, man. I mean, he had a hell of a life, hell of a career. I watched the documentary about him ’cause I already knew the kind of person he was, but watching that documentary — it opened up a whole new mentality for me. When we look at baseball players, we like, ‘You white’ — it’s just our assumption or ignorance or whatever. But that man was so much about his people. Not just about his people but equal opportunities for Black players in a game that’s older than all of us — him included — where we weren’t even invited to the table, let alone felt like we deserved a seat,” Method Man said.

However, he also revealed that he hates the “politics” of working in Hollywood. “That Hollywood machine is—I love the work,” he said. “Let’s just say that. Let’s get that out of the way. It’s just the politics I don’t like. The taking meetings and things of that nature. I don’t like it. It’s just not something I like to do. I had to show them that I was actually serious about it because I mean, the first name they hear is Method Man. They don’t hear Clifford Smith. I had to strip back the layers of Method Man. I had to embrace it because Method Man got me in the door. But then once I got in there, I had to show them that I was willing to do the work. I’m good at the work and give me the f-cking job. Give me the f-cking job. But you should never go into an audition wanting the job. You should go to the audition to showcase your translation of a scene to play,” he noted.

Method Man Says Anthony Mackie Should Have Turned Down 2Pac Role

Elsewhere, Method Man has shared his thoughts about Anthony Mackie playing 2Pac in 2009’s Notorious. “Anthony Mackie, brilliant f-cking actor. I love him and he deserves all the accolades that he gets. Except for that 2Pac role. I ain’t like that shit. You shouldn’t have took that one, bro. Your agent, I hope you got rid of that n-gga,” Method Man said.

However, Method Man revealed that most actors who try to portray 2Pac don’t hit the mark. “For somebody to really embody 2Pac, nothing against my boy [Demetrius] Shipp, the brother didn’t really have a lot to work with. I heard they didn’t get a blessing from 2Pac’s mom as well. He had a lot of obstacles in his way so we cannot blame him for that performance. You have to really embody, not just the rap part or the thug part, but his whole mentality, his aura. Everything about him was just different from anything we’d seen before,” Method Man continued.

Desus Nice Disputes Mero Account Of Their Split

Desus Nice had a simple response to Mero’s version of their split. Nice posted a “big cap” gif to X, formerly Twitter, in response to a clip of Mero speaking with Carmelo Anthony. “I’ma keep it a buck. At first, I was upset. It’s the business. There’s no friends in the business. We were in a situation where I got four kids and two mortgages. I’m like, ‘Yo, if we get an offer from DraftKings for $1.5 [million] before they got logos on the NBA court, and you’re like, ‘Nah, bro this ain’t it.’ And I’m like, ‘Nah fam, I’m gambling illegally right now. This sh-t is legal in Jersey. And they’re like, ‘Nah?’ I’m like, ‘F-ck out of here!’ To me, that’s the beginning of like, ‘Alright, this sh-t is corroding.’”

Furthermore, Mero claimed that Nice turned down the opportunity to work with Hollywood heavyweight Judd Apatow. The pair have been apart since 2022, following the end of Desus & Mero on Showtime. It remains to be seen with Nice will issue a larger response debunking Mero’s claims. Furthermore, Mero is yet to respond to his former collaborator’s callout.

Mero Shows His True Hand

Furthermore, the comments from Mero are a massive shift from how he spoke on the split when it first happened. “It’s just a natural progression. It’s like we said on the podcast, ‘It’s Hollywood, baby.’ You develop strengths and things that you want to explore and do. And then things just happen naturally. What’s the corny cliche? Don’t be sad that it’s gone. Be happy that you experienced it. Everybody grows. I’m sure D’s got his things that he wants to do. I got my things I want to do, and they’re very specific to us. We’ve been a duo for a long time. I love everything that he’s done. It’s just natural. I’ve got my life, my worldview, my things going on, and he’s got his. So, it’s only right that, instead of just saying like, we’re only going to do this one thing…we explore,” he said in 2022.

Meanwhile, Mero isn’t the only person Nice has gone off on in recent months. “It’s definitely not funny. There’s certainly nothing personal that makes it funny to me. It’s not like RaaShaun accosted me on the radio for making a little joke about him and his wife, which I only thought we were friends. It’s not like he called me ‘d*ckhead’ and then got so mad he locked himself in the studio for the rest of the show and then told the building security I was a threat. But even if that happened, that’s all in the past,” he said in a scathing attack on DJ Envy last year.
