Ronda Rousey Finally Reveals True Reason For Retirement

Ronda Rousey has revealed that her sudden MMA retirement at just 29 was due to her history of concussions. “I’d like people to understand my reasons and motivations behind things. I was forced to leave fighting when I was faster, stronger, more skilled and had a better understanding of the art than ever before. It was a really hard decision to understand, one that my body made for me. So much had to do with having so many concussions when I was in judo before I even got into MMA. I couldn’t talk about it at all when I was doing MMA because it would literally put a target on my head and I might not have been allowed to compete any farther,” Rousey said on Instagram Live.

Rousey retired after back-to-back knockout losses to Holly Holm. Prior to MMA, Rousey was an Olympic medalist in judo, taking bronze at the 2008 Games in Beijing. After leaving the UFC, Rousey turned to professional wrestling for a time. However, she also forged a film career for herself, appearing in Mile 22 after roles in The Expendables 3 and Furious 7.

Ronda Rousey Focused On Motherhood, Not Wrestling

Elsewhere, Rousey told TMZ that she has no immediate plans to return to wrestling, instead focusing on motherhood for the time being. There was speculation that after her contract with the WWE expired, she might move to the rival AEW promotion. However, that does not appear to be the case. “[I’m] just trying to be home with the family, and be a full-time mom,” Rousey said. The speculation arose after Rousey made an appearance on Ring of Honor, a promotion owned by AEW, in November.

Rousey has mostly stepped away from sports since giving birth to her daughter, La’akea. She’s been out of MMA since leaving the UFC in 2016. Furthermore, his time on the WWE, which began in 2018, has never been consistent. She has been used as a surprise gimmick here and there. The primary stint of her wrestling in 2023 has been with independent promotions such as Lucha VaVoom and Wrestling Revolver.

YesJulz Reveals Why She Supports Kanye West Despite $8M Lawsuit

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Kanye West’s former promoter YesJulz was fired. Allegedly, she was engaging in unauthorized activity on multiple platforms, though she denies this. She’s also being sued for $8 million for allegedly violating an NDA. Despite all of this, the personality continues to support Ye, even sharing a clip of him on Twitter/X today and praising his “energy.” For obvious reasons, this has taken many fans by surprise, so she decided to follow up with an explanation.

According to YesJulz, she doesn’t believe that Ye is truly behind the lawsuit, instead speculating that Milo Yiannopoulos is behind it. She also notes that the Chicago MC believed in her when others didn’t, which she’ll always respect and appreciate him for. The influencer claims that until the lawsuit moves forward, she’ll continue to pray for his success.

YesJulz Thinks Milo Yiannopoulos Is Behind Lawsuit

“He had to give me a chance before he was able to fire me- right? How could i not support someone who saw potential in me when no one else did? Regardless of the outcome, I am forever grateful & wish Ye the best,” she wrote. “He has not told me he is suing me. I have not seen HIS signature on the paper. The letter of intent to arbitrate was very clearly written by Milo. Signed by Ye’s lawyer, who is also at the will of Milo.”

“If the suit moves forward and Ye allows it to, sure i may feel different. & i’ll do what needs to be done to defend myself,” she continued. “I have no fear because i’ve done no wrong. Until then, i have compassion and grace for Ye as i know first hand how the people around him move & i feel its only a matter of time before the truth is revealed & he realizes whats truly going on. I pray for his continued success & protection.” What do you think of YesJulz continuing to support Kanye West despite him suing her? Are you surprised? How do you feel about her explanation? Cardi B Says Her New Album Is ‘Different’ And Explains What She Means By That

At long last, we have a new Cardi B album on the way, following her 2018 debut Invasion Of Privacy. As for what the project’s like, allow Cardi to explain.

Cardi had a mini Q&A session with the official Threads account on Threads yesterday (March 21), and one of the questions (more of a prompt, really) was, “Describe your upcoming album in one word.” Cardi responded, “Different. I think it’s different. I think there’s going to be some songs that are, like, not expected to come from me.”

Threads also asked, “How have you surprised yourself in the past year?” Cardi replied, “I’m not going to talk about last year. I’m going to talk about this year. Um I have been surprising myself with like letting my anxiety break. Being more out there. Being more open. Hopefully I could be more social in person. So yeah. That’s one thing. Breaking my anxiety has surprised me.”

Another question was, “What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?” Cardi answered, “Well, I feel like something that people are surprised to learn about me is that I’m very introverted. Like, a lot of people can be, like, I’m very shy in person, or a lot of people think that I’m like… I don’t know what it is, mean or something, but it’s like everybody will be like, ‘Yo she’s so fun. She’s so funny. She’s so good to be around,’ and everybody says that about me, and it’s just like, I guess, that’s something that people find surprising about me.”

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Nicki Minaj’s Barbz Finally, Inevitably Turned On Ice Spice For Allegedly Recording With Kanye West

Before “Barbie World” became as inescapable as every other aspect of the Margot Robbie-starring film, music fans were wary of Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s newfound friendship. After all, Nicki and Megan Thee Stallion appeared to be fast friends during the “Hot Girl Summer” of 2019, and we all see how that ended up.

So, it comes as no surprise that Minaj’s most enthusiastic fans, the Barbz, have taken it upon themselves to call out Ice Spice for perceived disloyalty over allegedly recording a verse for Kanye West. Earlier this week, influencer YesJulz shared a screenshot of a text thread between herself and West — presumably from before she was “fired” from YZY for supposed breaches of contract — in which Julz claims she sent the beat for Kanye’s song “New Body” to both Doja Cat and Ice Spice to see “who sounds best.” Only a day later, Kanye reported via his Instagram Story that the “Munch” rapper had indeed sent verse, but lamented that “her team is saying we can’t use it.”

Members of Minaj’s fanbase — and even her entourage — sent shade at Ice Spice for even sending the verse in the first place, as Nicki had previously refused to clear her verse on the track for the first installment of Kanye’s Vultures project. The Song, which Nicki and Kanye originally recorded in 2019 for placement on his since-canceled project Yandhi, had seen multiple revisions, leaks, and other issues, which spurred Nicki to deem it “past its time” and refuse permission to use it — something West took very personally, calling her out in a listening party rant that seemingly put paid to any friendly feelings the two artists have shared. It’s also telling that he went to two ostensible Minaj proteges in Doja and Ice, perhaps hoping to get under her skin. Or, at least, that’s how many Barbz seem to perceive it, as seen in the representative examples below:

There’s a lot to be said here, but I think this sums it up best:

Machine Gun Kelly And Trippie Redd Announced Their ‘Genre:Sadboy’ Project With A Very Sad Song Snippet

Keeping up with Machine Gun Kelly’s announcements is a full-time job. Or is it only “mgk” now? He may or may not have changed his stage name earlier this month. In February, MGK revealed an all-black, nearly full-torso tattoo. And that’s without even mentioning his on-again, off-again relationship with Megan Fox. But in January, MGK wrote something on X (formerly Twitter) that unintentionally (or maybe intentionally) correlates with his latest announcement: “Ultimately, I’m sad at how people perceive me in general.”

On Wednesday, March 20, MGK and Trippie Redd announced Genre:Sadboy, “a project by us.” It will arrive next Friday, March 29.

The punk-rap artists (and fellow Ohioans) jointly introduced the project with a black-and-white Instagram video showing them vibing in the studio to one of their unreleased songs, and it’s particularly sad — even by Genre:Sadboy standards.

“I recorded two tonight,” MGK sings. “One is for all those I love, this one’s for the suicide / Everything is blue inside / Everyone ain’t you and I / People won’t say how they feel about you until you die.”

Genre:Sadboy also has its own Instagram page, which could mean that MGK and Trippie’s collaborative partnership will extend beyond what drops on March 29. This afternoon, March 21, MGK and Trippie Redd premiered a YouTube documentary about the project this afternoon, giving deeper insight into the process behind it and what can be expected from it.

As long as we’re drawing parallels between MGK’s recent online behavior and Genre:Sadboy, we may as well do the same for Trippie Redd. In late January, he went on Instagram Live to (yet again) shut down rumors that he worships the devil.

“I’m just a weirdo, bro,” Trippie said, in part. “I like to get tats on my face! I like to wear all black! I like to look goth! Feel me? Sh*t’s a lifestyle. Maybe I’m depressed. Maybe I like to be the gloomy one in the room. I’m from Ohio. It’s always gloomy there. Y’all don’t get it. I’m a real sadboi. I’m a real loner. Maybe I hide it with my personality and sh*t, but so what? I’m human.”

MGK last released Mainstream Sellout in 2022, while Trippie dropped Mansion Musik, A Love Letter To You 5, and Saint Michael throughout 2023.
