Big Sean’s “Deep Reverence” Video Is A Tribute To Nipsey Hussle

Released following the heartbreaking death of Los Angeles rap legend Nipsey Hussle, Big Sean’s “Deep Reverence” serves as a reminder of everything that made Nipsey so special. His feature verse stands out on the song, leading the way for Big Sean to reflect on his battle with depression and anxiety, his family, the status of his relationship with Kendrick Lamar, and more. He also references Nipsey’s death in his verse. The song is a favorite from Detroit 2 for obvious reasons and, recently, fans have been requesting a music video for it.

Earlier today, Big Sean revealed that he would be dropping a video for “Deep Reverence” in a matter of hours and it has finally arrived after several months.

It starts off with Big Sean riding in a hydraulics-equipped whip with Snoop Dogg, rolling through the streets of L.A. As Nipsey’s verse begins, we see a painting of the late rapper in different spots across his neighborhood. Sean returns when Hussle’s verse is over, crouching and praying on a basketball court, which features a large tribute to Nip. The Detroit-based superstar continues by rapping in front of other Nipsey murals, hanging out with the legend Snoop, and enjoying the city.

6 Dogs Posthumously Releases “Beach House” With RIZ LA VIE

6 Dogs was one of the strongest forces in Atlanta’s underground rap scene, delivering some standout songs throughout his young career. “Faygo Dreams” has surpassed over 100 million streams on Spotify and it doesn’t seem like it will be stopping anytime soon. There was just something so special about 6 Dogs, which makes the end of his story all the more tragic.

The rapper took his own life earlier this year, just weeks before he was set to release his latest studio album. At the time of his death, 6 Dogs’ album RONALD, titled after his given name, was fully complete along with a schedule of what to release as singles and when. This project is exactly as 6 Dogs envisioned it. The latest single to arrive from RONALD is the catchy “Beach House” with a feature from RIZ LA VIE.

The song was released alongside a music video, which shows Chase enjoying life on the beach with RIZ LA VIE. His lyrics are very relatable, especially right now, as he says, “I need a vacation, I been in the house.” According to his team, this was Chase’s favorite song on the album.

6 Dogs Forever. Listen to the new single below.

Quotable Lyrics:

Leave and don’t come back, road trip from myself, okay
Now I’m countin’ racks, now I ain’t lookin’ back, okay
Trips in the spaceship, sunlight medication
Count up with my brothers, we some big stunters

Bruno Mars Has Perfect Response To Cultural Appropriation Accusers

Bruno Mars is back and, oh man, did we miss him. The multi-platinum soulful singer has returned with two brand new songs as part of his latest musical endeavor, making a band called Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak. The two will be releasing a full album together and, given their personal discographies, music fans couldn’t be any more excited to hear what they come up with. On Thursday night, Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak released the first Silk Sonic single called “Leave The Door Open”, which has been getting immediate praise online. They also released the introductory track to their upcoming album, which features the legendary Bootsy Collins.

Throughout Bruno Mars’ career, there have been times where the artist faced accusations of being a cultural appropriator. As a person of color, the accusations seemed a little strange, but they still gained traction on social media. During Silk Sonic’s recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God asked about his response to the critics that have dragged Bruno over the years, and his response was perfect.

“You can’t find an interview where I’m not talking about the entertainers that have come before me. The only reason why I’m here is because of James Brown, Prince, Michael, that’s the only reason why I’m here,” said Bruno Mars. “I’m growing up as a kid, watching Bobby Brown and saying, ‘well, if that’s what it takes to make it, then I’ve got to learn how to do the Running Man. I’ve got to learn how to do the Moon Walk.’ That’s it. And this music comes from love. If you can’t hear that, then I don’t know what to tell you.”

Bruno elaborated, saying that he wears his inspiration on his sleeve, hoping that a band takes Silk Sonic’s album down the road and putting their own spin on it. “Then what was the point of us doing this?” he asked before explaining that, if a basketball player isn’t inspired by Michael Jordan and trying to mimic what he accomplished, then they’re missing an opportunity because “he showed you how to do it”.

He goes on to say that the criticism doesn’t anger him, writing it off as a part of his job and saying, “I understand, it’s just Twitter, man.”

Jordan Brand consistently comes out with some incredible sneakers on a yearly basis and in 2021, that trend is sure to stay true. For those who don’t know, Jumpman particularly likes to save their best shoes for the end of the year, when they come out with either a new Air Jordan 11 colorway or a retro of an already-classic model. Two years ago we got the return of the “Bred” 11 while in 2020 we were blessed with the 25th anniversary “Jubilee.”

In 2021, it has been rumored for a while now that the Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey” would be returning to the market. Drake & Rick Ross Allegedly Releasing A Joint Album

If you’re a fan of all of Drake and Rick Ross’ recent collaborations, including the bars-heavy “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” that released last night, then you might be in for a treat. According to Chad Ochocinco, the two prolific rappers are currently working on a collaborative album.

After years of limiting their work together because of industry politics, Drake and Rick Ross are on a tear, releasing some crazy collaborations over the course of the last few years. They may have been stifled during Drake’s feud with Meek Mill, which understandably pushed Rozay to take a back seat, but they’re making up for lost time on the 6-minute “Lemon Pepper Freestyle”, which many are saying features one of Drake’s best-ever verses. When the popular RapCaviar account asked fans for the best collaboration that they’ve ever releasedChad Ochocinco came through with a pretty telling reply, seemingly confirming that Drake and Ross are gearing up to release a full project together.

“The joint album they’re doing together with unseat all projects they’ve done to date,” said the former football star, ramping up speculation that the couple of rappers could be dropping a tape before Certified Lover Boy. Music journalist Elliott Wilson also chimed in on the matter, saying that he’s totally fine getting CLB in the fall if it means we get a Drake x Rozay tape before then.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you be okay with waiting even longer for Certified Lover Boy to drop if we got a full album from Drake and Rick Ross? Let us know in the comments.

Key Glock And Young Dolph Announce ‘Dum And Dummer 2’ With The Chilly ‘Aspen’

Veteran Memphis rapper Young Dolph and his charismatic protege/cousin Key Glock set the rap world on fire in 2019 with their joint album, Dum And Dummer. Released independently, it had an impressive No. 8 debut on the Billboard 200, establishing Key Glock as a rapper to watch.

Get ready for another ride, because they just announced a sequel, Dum And Dummer 2, releasing the first single, “Aspen.” With a thumping beat riddling with quick hits of a church organ, “Aspen” once again displays the Memphis duo’s indelible chemistry, boasting about their rags-to-riches stories and promising to take a vacation at the famed Colorado resort town.

In the wake of the original Dum And Dummer, Key Glock capitalized in a huge way, following up his stellar performances with two well-received full-length projects in 2020, Yellow Tape and Son Of A Gun. The former debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200, proving that his newfound popularity from the joint tape could carry over to a solo project.

Meanwhile, Dolph himself followed up in 2020 as well with Rich Slave — which debuted at No. 4 on the 200 — and its deluxe version, which added eight new songs and an appearance from another of his Paper Route Empire signees, Kevin Muney.

Listen to “Aspen” above and keep an eye out for more Dum And Dummer 2 news.

Elcamino Drops Off New Project “Block Work”

When it comes to grimy bars evocative of that classic golden era sound, you can’t go wrong with Elcamino. Today, the Griselda affiliate and all-around solid lyricist has come through with his brand new project Block Work, a ten-track effort that clocks in at a reasonable twenty-one minutes. Don’t let the general brevity fool you. There’s still plenty of bars found throughout the tape, beginning off the top with the filthy introductory cut “Avenue Thug” and continuing until closer “Right.”

Sonically, Block Work is content to remain in its comfort zone, with dusty loops and hard-hitting boom-bap drums generally laying the foundation. In some cases, as on the minimalist “Driveway Music,” the chosen samples evoke shades of the mafioso rap of yore. Others, like the bass-driven “Bucket Hat” find Elcamino catching a groovier pocket, showcasing a subtle but welcome versatility in his flow. Sometimes, as on midway cut “Impossible,” he opts to pull back the drums damn-near altogether, a move often employed by his longtime associate Westside Gunn.

Should these qualities appeal to you, be sure to give Block Work a spin. For everyone wondering where “real hip-hop” went, consider this a stop worth taking on your quest for answers.
