Jay-Z Is Venturing Into The Fitness World With His Latest Investment

Jay-Z’s next business move is a step into the fitness world. His investment firm Marcy Venture Partners has teamed up with former MLB baseball player Adrian Gonzalez to put money in the Los Angeles-based LIT Method. The fitness company was launched by Justin and Taylor Norris back in May 2020 after the duo created the LIT Strength Machine, an all-in-one water rower, Pilates reformer, and resistance band training system.

Larry Marcus, co-founder and managing director of Marcy Venture Partners, spoke about the new investment in a statement. “Justin and Taylor are tenacious and adaptive entrepreneurs with so much drive and passion,” he said. “Their engaging content, motivating style, and innovative equipment are a winning combination.” Justin and Taylor also discussed the new investment in a statement of their own. “Having Marcy Venture and Adrian Gonzalez as partners in this mission means we can support the growing demand for the machine, expand our product line, and make our method accessible to people across the country,” they said.

The move comes after Jay-Z sold half of his company Ace Of Spades champagne to LVMH for an undisclosed amount. According to the rapper himself, the decision was motivated by the brand’s growth, which surpassed the expectations and expertise it already had. Jay later sold his streaming service, Tidal, to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s Square for $297 million in cash and stocks. In exchange, Jay was given a seat on the mobile payments company’s board.

Drake Hits Up Oscars Afterparty With Daniel Kaluuya, Lena Waithe, Adele

A party isn’t a party until Drizzy shows up. Drake was front and center at the Oscars afterparty on Sunday (April 25), and he has the photos to prove it. On Instagram, Drake shared a few pictures of his time rubbing elbows with a few of his famous friends. There were several stills taken with newly-crowned Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya who took home the Oscar for Best Support Role. His portrayal in Judas and the Black Messiah earned the acclaimed actor the recognition that many believe he deserves.

“Sounds like a yes to me,” the OVO mogul penned in the caption. Fans have speculated that Drake may be cooking up more media moves, especially considering he posted photos with a few other noteworthy names.

Winnie Harlow also gave her best model pose in a photo with Drake, and Lena Waithe smiled from ear to ear as she chatted with the rap star. Adele was also at the shindig and according to The Independent, the award-winning singer was belting out Ja Rule and Jennifer Lopez’s 2002 classic, “I’m Real.” We would bet that she made sure Beyoncé hits were on deck, as well.

In other Oscars news, it’s reported that Kaluuya made history when he became the first Black British actor to take home an Academy Award. Check out a few posts about the afterparty below.

Michael B. Jordan Calls Lauren London “One Of The Strongest Women I Know”

The future of Lauren London’s career hung in the balance following the death of Nipsey Hussle. London was admittedly unsure of if she would navigate an acting career again, but after Michael B. Jordan reached out, she decided to lend her talents to the film, Without Remorse. Jordan and London star as a married couple who are expecting a child, but London revealed in an interview that the evolution of her character was why she decided to participate.

Jordan recently told Hello Beautiful that London was the perfect fit for the part and explained why he took a chance when he contacted her. “She’s been away for a while and she’s one of the strongest women I know and been through so much,” he said.

“So, I had a crazy idea one night and was like, ‘Would you want to come do this?’ And then sent her the script and she thought she could bring something to the table,” he added. “And she had something to offer and felt like it would be good for her. As artists, I think we express ourselves and, it’s therapeutic sometimes to get on set and to be able to do the things that we do. So in this particular situation, she helped me out so much when it comes to, talking about grief. And we talked about the mind state of where Kelly would be at on certain things and just seeing a strong Black woman in that way and be able to support me the way she did, I thought was extremely incredible.’

The interviewer jokingly commented that Jordan “put a woman on. He replied, “I mean, that’s why you do what I do in the sense of getting to a position to create opportunities for other talented people who may not have a shot at that. And, she’s dope, So it wasn’t like, it wasn’t like a, it wasn’t like a favor or anything like that. Like, she held like she’s dope and she held her own and she’s like, you know what I mean? So it made sense.’

Without Remorse premieres on Amazon Prime Video on April 30. If you haven’t already seen the trailer for the film, you can watch it below.

Funk Flex Gives Drake His Credit For “Fathering” Sing-Rap Style

The lines have been blurred between the melodies and bars in rap music. There are plenty of MCs in the game but the majority of notable artists in hip-hop right now tend to lean closer towards the melodies than ever before. Artists like Young Thug, Future, and Kid Cudi deserve their flowers but you also gotta acknowledge Drake’s efforts, as well.

Despite his sometimes harsh criticism towards the Canadian rapper, Funk Flex admits that it was Drake that changed the game. The famous DJ recently sat down with HNHH for an in-depth interview where he discussed the evolution of the game and Drizzy’s role in shifting the sound. Flex gives Drake credit for being the father of the current rap-sing trend.

“Drake has really fathered this amazing style of singing and rapping. I think when it comes to Drake though he has a clearer line of this is when I’m rapping and this is when I’m singing. I don’t think they mesh as hard together in his music, but I do like it,” he explained.

Flex explained that he’s always been a fan of Drake but there are levels to his appreciation of the “What’s Next” rapper’s catalog. “I have to be honest, he’s not made too many songs I don’t like,” he added. “I never want to take away from a person’s creativity. He has not made many songs – I think, when we talk about Drake sometimes you have to say, ‘Well, I like this one level ten, I like this one level nine, I like this one level eight.’”

Monica has been in the industry for decades and she turned the heads of several artists from various genres, especially within Rap. Monica’s relationship status is unknown at the moment, but she thought it was “cool” that Chief Keef talked about how attractive a woman named “Monica” was, not knowing he was referencing her.
