Nigeria Upsets Stacked Team USA Roster, Fans Left Stunned

Going into the Olympics, the United States is believed to have the best roster when it comes to men’s basketball. Heading into their pre-tournament game against Nigeria, the U.S. boasted a starting lineup of Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Jayson Tatum, Bradley Beal, and Bam Adebayo. Considering the U.S. has always obliterated Nigeria, there was a sense that the game last night wouldn’t even be close.

Well, everyone and their mom was proved wrong last night as Nigeria somehow shocked the world and won the game 90-87. No one expected Nigeria to even come close to winning the game, especially when you consider how the U.S. frequently beats the country by dozens of points every single time they go up against each other.

As it turns out, Team USA seemed completely discombobulated on offense as their roster is mostly comprised of scorers and no real playmakers. From there, the team’s defense was also suspect, which allowed Nigeria to play some gritty yet inspiring offense. All-in-all, it was a terrible night for USA Basketball, however, it can simply be chalked up to a learning experience for the Olympics which are in just a couple of weeks from now.

In the tweets below, you can see what fans had to say about Team USA’s shocking defeat.

Vince Staples Gets Soulful On “SUNDOWN TOWN”

Vince Staples and Kenny Beats have united, once again. The Long Beach rapper returned this week with the release of his self-titled album. It marks his first project in four years since the release of 2018’s FM! but he remained relatively low-key with the exception of a few releases.

Vince’s eponymous album is appropriately a self-portrait of the world around him. On “SUNDOWN TOWN,” the rapper returns to his stomping grounds of Long Beach, reflecting on the harrowing reality of gangbanging. Kenny Beats morphs smooth, soulful vocals into a warped, psychedelic sample that helps set the tone Vince’s dystopian view of Long Beach. “I don’t fear no man, only Allah got the upper hand/ Lost too many friends, to the down the streets, I can’t pretend,” Vince raps on the record.

Quotable Lyrics
Had a .38 in the eighth, moved on 68th
Then they put us out, we was sleepin’ on my auntie couch
Then she put us out, stomach growlin’, stealin’ from the Ralph’s
If I pull it out, I’ma send a n***a to the clouds

Conor McGregor Claims Dustin Poirier’s Wife Is In His DMs: Watch

Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier were supposed to put on a fight for the ages yesterday as they went up against each other for the third time. McGregor infamously won the first fight back in 2014, and a few months ago back in January, Poirier was able to even up the score. Heading into this match, Poirier proved to be the favorite amongst fans, and in the end, he won the fight due to a doctor’s stoppage.

By now, you probably know that McGregor snapped his ankle in half near the end of the first round. It was a very gruesome sight and fans were in complete and utter shock at what had just happened. McGregor didn’t seem too worried about the ankle break although it was clear as day that he wouldn’t be able to continue on.

Leading up to the fight, McGregor had made some very personal remarks about Poirier and how he would have him leaving the arena on a stretcher. During his post-fight interview, Poirier addressed these comments and even threw some shots at McGregor, which left the Irishman in a fighting mood. Once Joe Rogan came around to interview McGregor, the fighter immediately got personal once more, and attacked Poirier, claiming that his wife has been in Conor’s DMs.

When you consider how McGregor had just lost the fight, his insults ring a bit hollow, although you can’t help but admire the trash talk, even when your ankle is screaming bloody murder.

You can see the testy exchange, down below.

Bill Cosby’s Potential Stand-Up Tour Faces Pushback From Famed Comedy Venues

Late last month, reports surfaced confirming that American stand-up comedian and actor Bill Cosby had been released from prison after a court overturned his sexual assault conviction. The 83-year-old Philadelphia native was found guilty back in April 2018 on three different counts of aggravated indecent assault and was subsequently sentenced to three to ten years in state prison.

After serving a little over three years, Cosby was released after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction, citing violations related to due process rights. Shortly after his release, TMZ reported the disgraced comedian was planning a comedy tour on the heels of his release. According to the publication now, several renowned comedy clubs, including NYC’s Comedy Cellar, are not interested.

Noam Dworman, the popular New York City venue owner, told TMZ that Comedy Cellar is not one bit interested in working with Cosby and doesn’t even want him to step foot inside the club. While the venue is known for allowing slightly unhinged comics and content to hit the stage, Cosby will be the one exception.

Notably, the club allowed Louis C.K. and Aziz Ansari to make an appearance in 2018 following their sexual misconduct allegations. Dworman furthered that his audience, who welcomed Louis and Aziz with open arms, still wouldn’t support Cosby’s comeback.

Rejection from Comedy Cellar isn’t stopping Cosby in his plans for a full tour. His rep Andrew Wyatt tells TMZ, “That’s one club owner and in the words of the King of R&B Bobby Brown, ‘it’s his prerogative to do what he wants to do.'”

Of course, public reaction to Cosby’s release has been quite polarized. Let us know if you’d see the disgraced comedian if he came to a comedy spot near you down in the comments.

Conor McGregor’s Horrific Injury Leads To Irreverent Twitter Slander

Conor McGregor had fans expecting a massive comeback on Saturday night as he took on Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight to determine who is the best between the two. After losing to Poirier back in January, there were bettors and fans alike who believed that Conor could overcome his previous defeat and come through with a win. Well, they were all sorely mistaken as McGregor suffered the most gruesome injury of his career, which left him with a snapped ankle and yet another loss.

After delivering numerous leg kicks earlier in the fight, McGregor’s ankle had weakened, and by the end of the first round, it couldn’t sustain his body weight, leading to a horrible scene. The fight was immediately stopped and Poirier came away with yet another win, all while McGregor laid on the ground.

As McGregor was taken off on a stretcher, fans on Twitter were already standing guard to deliver some slander. Twitter can always be a toxic place after big sporting events, and last night was no exception as memes and irreverent comments were thrown all over the place. Considering how much McGregor likes to trash talk, these comments were to be expected, although it doesn’t take away from the fact that they were brutal, regardless.

McGregor’s standing in the fight game is to be determined over the coming months, however, as you can see below, there aren’t too many fans in his corner anymore.

Conor McGregor Taken Off On Stretcher After Gruesome Leg Injury

Conor McGregor had high hopes going into his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. Despite losing the last bout, McGregor was confident that he would be able to come out and dominate as he looked to bounce back. At the start of the fight, McGregor looked pretty good as he delivered some leg kicks while also offering some strikes to Poirier’s head.

Eventually, the momentum of the match shifted and Poirier had McGregor on the verge of a TKO. Then, a gruesome injury struck McGregor right at the end of the first round as his ankle buckled underneath him and snapped. It was a truly revolting sight although McGregor didn’t seem to register the seriousness of the injury. As a result of this injury, the fight was called in favor of Poirier, who has officially surpassed McGregor in their rivalry.

The injury caught the eye of social media who were pretty shaken up by the entire thing. As for McGregor, he was interviewed by Dana White following the fight and he had some disparaging things to say about Poirier’s wife. As Poirier left the Octagon, McGregor told his opponent that his wife is in his DMs and that he needs to keep an eye on her.

Following the scene, McGregor was carried off on a stretcher and he played to the crowd the entire time. Needless to say, he didn’t seem to care about the injury, and instead, he just wanted to put on a good show for the crowd.

Moving forward, it remains to be seen where McGregor’s career will go. He won’t be fighting for belts anytime soon, however, he seems destined to return to the fight game at least in some capacity.
