Artificial intelligence has infiltrated the music industry. Although the software isn’t new, its acceptance by significant figures and entities such as the Grammy Awards is. Despite musicians like Drake and Bad Bunny’s public disdain for AI-generated music, YouTube supports the technical advancement.

Yesterday (November 16), Variety announced that YouTube revealed its partnership with Google’s DeepMind artificial intelligence lab had pumped out another feature for users. The new feature is titled AI deepfake music generator, and several entertainers, Alec Benjamin, Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Papoose, Sia, T-Pain, and Troye Sivan, have agreed to allow users to utilize their vocal likeness.

How To Use YouTube’s AI Deepfake Music Generator

So far, YouTube’s AI deepfake music generator has limited capabilities. To use the feature, users must upload a video within YouTube Shorts. Before publishing the clip, the user can add AI-generated music to their queued clip. To do this, users enter a prompt within Dream Track in YouTube Shorts that expresses a scenario they want to soundtrack. Then, from the list of approved artists (listed above), they can select the artist’s vocals that fit the aesthetics of the track best.

Before publishing the video to their subscribers, users will be allowed to preview the AI-generated track. It is important to note that, similarly to YouTube Shorts, there is a time restriction. AI-generated tracks’ maximum duration is 30 seconds in length. The feature has not been rolled out for full-length YouTube uploads or live broadcasts.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Will YouTube Ban AI Videos?

YouTube is taking steps to introduce labels on videos, especially as Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly prevalent in visual media. In a new blog update, the video platform confirmed that while they won’t be banning AI usage, users will have to disclose when they do use it in videos within the “coming months.”

This would include music videos and songs, as well as “especially important” cases like election coverage or “content showing someone saying or doing something they didn’t actually do.”

“To address this concern, over the coming months, we’ll introduce updates that inform viewers when the content they’re seeing is synthetic,” YouTube’s statement read. “Specifically, we’ll require creators to disclose when they’ve created altered or synthetic content that is realistic, including using A.I. tools.”

They added, “When creators upload content, we will have new options for them to select to indicate that it contains realistic altered or synthetic material. For example, this could be an A.I.-generated video that realistically depicts an event that never happened, or content showing someone saying or doing something they didn’t actually do.”

A test example of the AI label is shown on the site, with an example noting something is “Altered or synthetic content,” even on YouTube Shorts.

Doja Cat Interviews Herself In A Hilarious New Video

Doja Cat has often spoken fondly about the internet and growing up online. Earlier this year she stopped by Hot Ones to discuss a myriad of topics. Among them was her own internet addiction. She discussed many of the “YouTube rabbit holes” she’s fallen in while browsing the platform. Now, she’s taking much of the surreal content she’s seen and channeling it into a new video.

The only difference is that it seems like Doja made the new video with that format in mind and leaned into the potential of the editing techniques. Check out the full hilarious video below.

Benny The Butcher Thinks Rappers Deserve More Respect Than They’re Getting Right Now

Benny The Butcher has been subject to plenty of praise from other rappers in recent years. He’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in the genre and received plenty of high-profile cosigns. But despite all the respect he gets from inside the rap game, he still thinks rappers as a whole are disrespected. He recently stopped by Rap Radar to discuss a variety of subjects, including how rappers as a whole need more respect.

“It’s not a lot of respect on being a rapper right now. Rap gave me a lot. I should be able to say that loud and proud but people try to hate on that,” Benny began the discussion. “A lot of these podcasts, influencers, a lot of these characters, they criticize rap. They got whole platforms to criticize rap in a bad way. Rap is this, rap is that, sh*tting on a rapper. I hate that because we are almost the bar for how people live their lives. You’ll hear somebody say, ‘I’m richer than rappers,’” he continues. In his conclusion, he basically says rappers are living rent free in the heads of their critics. “People want to compare themselves to rappers so bad. They love us so much they hate us.” Check out the full conversation below.

Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang Company Releasing New Cellphone

Back in 2020, Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free co-founded a new company called pgLang. It was unclear to many what the company even was at first, and it’s developed into an all-purpose creative force. It was named in new singles Lamar dropped alongside Baby Keem and on Lamar’s newest album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. The company has also dipped its toes into fashion collaborations first with Calvin Klein last year and then Converse earlier this month.

Now, they’re entering the tech world with a new collaboration. pgLang is teaming up with tech company Light to release a new cellphone. A trailer for the phone focuses more on what it doesn’t have than what it does. It’s marketed as an alternative to phones like the iPhone which come with endless features and distractions on top of its baseline phone capabilities. The new phones will be pretty hard to come by with just 250 being sold. Fans can try and get their hands on them when they go on sale on November 2. Check out the trailer for the new phones below.

JiDion Announces He’s Quitting His Prank Channel To Start One Focused On Religion

Veteran YouTube prankster JiDion has announced that he is shutting down the “JiDion” channel. In its place, he will start “GiDion”, a religion-based channel on which JiDion will explore his Christianity. “What are you going to be doing with the channel? And, the answer is nothing. This is going to be my last channel [sic] on JiDion man. Like, I truly feel like there’s nothing else for me to do except do the will of God and point people in the right direction. To follow Jesus and get people to pick up their Bibles, and read about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ” I just want to dive all the way into the deep end of the pool and truly give my all into serving Jesus Christ and to helping you guys find him the best way I possibly can,” the YouTuber said in his farewell video.

Meanwhile, the “About Me” section of his “GiDion” channel reads “Welcome to GiDeon, I believe EVERYTHING the Bible says and my mission is to get people to turn back to The Most High God and truly follow Jesus. I pray one of the videos touches your heart and leads you to God!!!”. However, his followers remain unconvinced as to whether this is sincere or whether JiDion is just playing a really long prank.

JiDion Seemingly Catches EDP445 In Another Predator Sting

JiDion is known for his prank videos. He was recently banned by the WNBA after he did a “sleeping at a WNBA game” video. However, some of his content in recent months has much more serious. Last month, JiDion allegedly caught notorious internet predator EDP445 in another Chris Hansen-esque sting. Furthermore, for those unfamiliar, EDP445, a moderately-sized Philadelphia Eagles creator, was caught in a sting a few years ago after exchanging sexual text messages with who he believed was a 13-year-old girl.

While the original EDP445 scandal ended with the YouTuber getting away scot-free due to the case being mishandled, it doesn’t appear that he learned his lesson. In a brief snippet for a video that remains unreleased, JiDion is seen wearing a cupcake costume and confronting EDP. It appears that they managed to catch him exchanging more messages with fictional underage ploys.
