Ski Mask The Slump God Confirms New Album Coming This Week

It’s about time. Ski Mask the Slump God was part of the Soundcloud generation that broke out in the 2010s. He worked closely with other Florida rappers like XXXTentacion and Denzel Curry, while at the same time carving out his own eccentric lane. His debut album, Stokeley, was a testament to this. The thing is, Stokeley came out in 2018. Fans have waited six years to hear new Ski Mask music. Thankfully, the wait is over. The sophomore album, 11th Dimension, is almost here.

Ski Mask the Slump God dropped an album teaser on June 1. The teaser opens on complete darkness, while an elderly voice asks the rapper where he’s been. Then there’s a hard cut to his face in close up, which is shrouded in darkness. The elderly voice continues to question Ski Mask’s absence. “They are asking where you are,” the voice states. “Asking where you have been.” The rapper then turns his head up, showing that half of his face is scarred. “Said I’m fighting my demons,” he says, before giving us a glimpse of a verse from the album.

Ski Mask The Slump God’s Last Album Dropped In 2018

The most unexpected part of the teaser, however, comes at the tail end. The camera zooms out to show Ski Mask the Slump God sitting on the floor of an empty white room. He can be seen wearing white angel wings, and his arms are tied. Hard cut to the release date, which is June 7. This is a thrilling development for an album that was first announced in 2021. Ski Mask revealed the album title, 11th Dimension, a year later, and there have been two singles released thus far. “Shibuya” dropped in March, and “Headrush” in May.

Ski Mask the Slump God has kept his inspiration behind a secret, but he did tease a dream list of collabs for 11th Dimension back in 2021. “I want to try and have Tyler, the Creator on it,” he told XXL. “I want to try and have Don Toliver, try and have Dominic Fike. He’s somebody I’ve always wanted to work with… I want to try and work with Post [Malone] at least.” There hasn’t been an official tracklist released, so it’s unclear whether Ski Mask was able to secure any of these features for the finished product.

Kid On XXXTENTACION’s “Look At Me!” Artwork Receives 10-Year Prison Sentence For Attempted Murder

XXXTENTACION’s legacy is one of mainstream influence and virality. The late Florida multi-hyphenate blew up essentially overnight with a handful of tracks. However, 2015’s “Look At Me!” was perhaps the one most responsible. The aggressive trap rager had a sticky chorus and memorable performance from X. Also helping the track was the wild artwork. The image of a young boy shoving a lit blunt up his nose was almost instantly recognizable. A pre-teen at the time, Zachary Stoddard, was a close friend of X’s, and he was also looking to forge a career in hip-hop. However, the progress on that goal is being put to the wayside. The kid from the “Look At Me!” cover will now be going to prison on a 10-year sentence.

According to XXL, Zachary, or KidPronto, was recently hit with attempted second-degree murder and battery. The decision was made on May 10, and Zachary made a plea in connection to the 2019 stabbing of Keith Tatton. Additionally, he pleaded no contest earlier this year. On top of his time in state prison, Zachary will be under house arrest for two years, with three years of probation to follow.

The “Look At Me” Kid Did This Back In 2019

This all began when Stoddard grew frustrated with some of his associates for trying to leave him behind while they went to a restaurant on April 27, 2019. Things reportedly escalated quickly, and it led Stoddard to viciously stab Keith multiple times. He was admitted to the hospital and placed on life support, but he thankfully survived his injuries. Prosecutors originally attempted to try Stoddard as an adult, even though he was just 16 at the time. Stoddard also served prison time in 2018 as well, right around the time that XXX was tragically murdered.

What are your thoughts on the kid on the “Look At Me!” cover art receiving a 10-year prison sentence? Is this still one of XXXTENTACION’s best songs of his career? XXXTentacion Lashes Out In Previously Unreleased Interrogation Footage

XXXTentacion left an indelible impression on the music world. He was an immensely talented artist who was also accused of and charged with heinous criminal acts. X’s death at the age of 20 meant that he’d never get a chance to make up for his mistakes, or serve the jail time that some fans felt he should have. The men who were convicted of murdering XXXTentacion are still in the process of appealing their ruling. DJ Akademiks, however, turned the clock back on May 1 by posting previously unseen footage of the rapper during an interrogation.

The interrogation took place in 2016. XXXTentacion was arrested for stabbing Dylan Turner aka Tablez. The rapper can seen sitting on the right side of an interrogation room, where he is handcuffed to a chair. The audio quality is low, as DJ Akademiks points out, but X’s rage doesn’t need much interpretation. “All we got right now,” the interrogating officer stated. “Is that you went in there and grabbed his knife.” X slammed his head against the wall in frustration, yelling over the officer’s words.

XXXTentacion Curses Out The Interrogating Officer

The officer continued to explain what he felt went down, but X struggled to articulate his side of the story. “What the f*ck,” he said. “How–.” The rapper cut himself off to bury his head in his hands. “F*ck this sh*t,” he added. “F*ck this sh*t.” The situation looks dire from the footage, but XXXTentacion was actually released shortly after this interrogation took place.

Tablez made a full recovery from his injury, and agreed to drop all charges against the rapper. He said he didn’t “want one bad choice to define who [XXXTentacion] was.” In return, the rapper paid for Tablez’s medical bills. He also apologized to Tablez over the stabbing. “Thank you for dropping the charges,” X later asserted. “As f*cked up as the situation is, I am forever in your debt.”

XXXTentacion and Tablez may have made up, but both artists died before their time. The former was shot and killed in 2018, and the latter died from a drug overdose in 2022. Tablez was the “manager” for both X and Ski Mask the Slump God early in their careers, in addition to being part of the Members Only collective.

Pouya Reveals XXXTentacion Helped Him During His Girlfriend’s Cancer Diagnosis

Pouya is an influential figure. His early mixtapes, coupled with YouTube channel Nick and Pouya Show, influenced a generation of Florida emcees. XXXTentacion was one of these emcees, as evidenced by an interview clip that was recently posted on social media. X praised Pouya and Denzel Curry as inspirations on his sound. Pouya had never seen the interview clip prior to its resurfacing, and was so overcome with emotion that he shared his experiences with the “Sad” hitmaker on Instagram.

The rapper told followers that he was humbled by XXXTentacion’s comments. “Wow someone just sent me this, I never seen this before,” he wrote. ” Damn man, this made me happy and sad at the same time.” The real revelation came, however, when the rapper started to reflect on a difficult period in his life. A period that was alleviated, somewhat, and aided by X’s presence. Pouya revealed that X was there for him when his girlfriend, Coco, was battling cancer, and offered unconditional support in the process. “I never really talk about this but when Coco was going through cancer X would FaceTime me all the time,” he recalled. “[He’d] give me advice on how to get through it, sucks that he’s gone. Idk this s**t put a fire in me.”

Pouya Claimed XXXTentacion Gave Him Advice

Pouya’s admiration for XXXTentacion has been well-documented. The rapper penned a tribute to X on his 2019 album The South Got Something To Say. The tribute was titled “When Will I See You?” and it features bars in which X’s death prompted him to consider his own mortality. “Murder, overdose, and suicide,” he raps. “Am I the next one to die? Will I fly with Peep or fry? X is written up in the sky.” These thoughts are still weighing heavy on Pouya’s shoulders, evidently, as the rapper recently announced his plans to retire from hip-hop.

Days before his post on XXXTentacion, Pouya issued an official retirement statement. He informed fans that he will stop releasing music after his upcoming album, Album 6. “After grey day and my album, I’m going to be stepping away from music,” he wrote. “It’s been f**king fun but I’m exhausted. Love you f**kers though.” There’s no set release date for Album 6, but fans eager to listen to more Pouya can currently stream his new EP All But 6, Vol. 2 with Fat Nick.
