Ray J is sending a warning to Tyrese: leave Eddie Murphy alone or “It wont end well!!”

A day after Smith was the butt of an Eddie Murphy joke at the Golden Globes, Tyrese hit Instagram to ask people to move on already.

Eddie Murphy attended the 2023 Golden Globes, where he received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his accomplishments in the cinema industry. Murphy provided three pieces of advice for aspiring entertainment business newcomers during his acceptance speech.

“Pay your taxes, mind your business,” Murphy said to the audience as they listened silently to the words of wisdom from the comedy legend. “And keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out your f****g mouth,” Eddie Murphy said, recalling to the Oscars slap moment.

Following the show, Tyrese shared an image of himself with Will Smith calling for an end of all the jokes.

“I’m still team WILL SMITH there’s nobody on this earth that will ever influence me to ever have a change of heart towards the BIGGEST INFLUENCE in my life,” Tyrese wrote. “I’m just saying man…. Move on already I just watched ‘EMANCIPATION’ for the 3rd time I just can’t believe how masterful this overall movie is.”

Ray J saw his post and delivered a response:

Additionally, host Jerrod Carmichael said that they had given Will Smith the “Best Portrayal Of Masculinity On Television” award earlier in the break.

“Just some quick housekeeping stuff,” Carmichael began. “While we were on commercial, we actually presented Will Smith with the Rock Hudson award for “Best Portrayal Of Masculinity On Television. So please give it up for Will Smith, you guys!”

Following the show, Tyrese shared an image of himself with Will Smith calling for an end of all the jokes.

Tyrese Defends Will Smith After Eddie Murphy Golden Globes Joke

It was a quip made in good fun, but Tyrese felt it necessary to stand up for Will Smith. The 2023 Golden Globes was arguably one of the most uncomfortable of its broadcasts to date, but Eddie Murphy lightened the atmosphere by joking about Smith. Murphy was honored at the ceremony with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and during his acceptance speech, he mentioned Smith’s unfortunate Oscars moment.

The acclaimed actor gave aspiring creatives advice for success. Then, he added: “It’s very simple. You just do these three things: pay your taxes, mind your business… and keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth!”

The joke was well-received, and quickly, outlets and social media sites shared clips. When Murphy spoke with Entertainment Tonight, he briefly touched on mentioning his famous friends.

“I’ve worked with Jada,” he said. “I love Will. I love Will, and I love Chris — and it’s all love.”

It seemed light-hearted enough, but Tyrese didn’t appreciate Smith continuing to be at the center of jokes. He shared a photo of himself with the Fresh Prince icon and praised the actor.

I’m still team WILL SMITH there’s nobody on this earth that will ever influence me to ever have a change of heart towards the BIGGEST INFLUENCE in my life,” Tyrese wrote.”

Martin Lawrence Says Chris Rock Didn’t Deserve To Be Slapped By Will Smith

The world has been revisiting Will Smith and Chris Rock’s infamous Oscars slap thanks to the former’s new film. Smith is in the thick of heavily promoting his movie Emancipation, and during the press run, he addressed slapping Rock on the Academy Awards stage. Throughout the year, several of Smith’s peers have stepped forward with their takes on the incident, including Martin Lawrence, who had more to say.

Smith and Lawrence have been good friends for decades, even starring in their blockbuster Bad Boys franchise. Lawrence also knows Rock, and during a recent interview, he shared his thoughts on the situation. “Well, it hurt me to see that happen,” said Lawrence. “Because I know both of them. Both of them are my brothers.”

He continued, “And when it happened, I text both of them after it happened, just to see how they were doing and everything. But, it was just an unfortunate situation.

“You know, Will wasn’t in the right space that night and Chris Rock didn’t deserve that. So, it’s such an unfortunate situation,” he added. “It’s like seeing your brothers fightin’ and you don’t want to see your brothers fightin’. Chris Rock didn’t deserve that at all.”

Earlier this year, there were rumors that Bad Boys 4 could be on the horizon, but it was suggested that the Oscars moment curved production hopes. However, in a cover feature for Ebony, the Lawrence refuted claims that the film wouldn’t happen.

Meanwhile, Rock hasn’t sat down for an interview to share his side of the Oscars slap story. Instead, the comedian was said to have cracked jokes about the moment during his live shows. It is unclear if he will speak more on the event in the future.

Will Smith To Talk “Emancipation” & Oscars On “Red Table Talk”

It has arguably been one of the most challenging years for Will Smith. The Fresh Prince icon had an almost unblemished record in the entertainment industry—a feat that isn’t easy to accomplish. He is an acclaimed actor with a reputation for being family-friendly, but his Academy Award moment shifted perspectives. Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock earlier this year on the Oscars stage, and he has been speaking freely about the incident in recent weeks.

As Smith promotes his latest film Emancipation, he has been addressing the controversy after months of silence. Now, he joins his family once again on Red Table Talk to detail his transformation for Emancipation and the moment that changed his career forever.

A press release for Wednesday’s (December 14) episode calls the Red Table Talk conversation “deeply intimate and revealing.” This will be the first time several of the Smith family will come together for this personal discussion. The actor reportedly admits that, for the first time in his expansive career, he almost “went too far” and nearly “lost himself.”

“Will shares the biggest revelations of his life, a horrific moment he experienced while filming and a co-star who refused to speak to him,” the press release added.

In a promotional photo of the episode, it’s easy to note that Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, was omitted. He posed will all of his children: Trey, Willow, and Jaden.

The Academy Awards moment between Smith and Rock sparked after the comedian joked about Jada’s bald head. While she didn’t say anything in the broadcast clip, the actress was vilified by the public and several of her peers. The move to not have her participate in the Red Table Talk conversation could be for Smith to detail his feelings without Jada once again unnecessarily taking the blame.

Will Smith’s appearance on Red Table Talk will premiere tomorrow, Dec. 14, on Facebook Watch.

Will Smith Says “Emancipation” Has Helped Him Overcome Oscars Slap

Will Smith says that playing Peter in his new film Emancipation helped him get through the months after his infamous Oscars slap. While promoting the film, Smith explained that the role has helped him with overcoming adversity.

“It’s like when you can locate and center yourself in your divine purpose, you can withstand anything and everything,” he said, according to ABC News

The film follows an escaped slave inspired by “Whipped Peter,” who evades slave hunters in search of freedom.

He continued: “Peter has absolutely helped me through these last few months, just reestablishing within myself in what my purpose is in this world.”

“This movie was so grueling. Literally across the board, everybody had to devote a hefty amount of suffering to what you see on that screen,” Smith said. “So my greatest wish, and I guess I can talk about my greatest fear, is that my team would be penalized for my actions. I’m out with this film that I love and strictly want my people to get their flowers.”

Antoine Fuqua, who directed Emancipation, says that Smith slapping Chris Rock was just a “mistake.”

“For me, it’s a mistake,” Fuqua said. “Hopefully everybody can get back on track and God bless everyone. But we’re talking about 400 years of brutality.”

Notably, Smith is still eligible for nominations and awards at the Oscars, despite his 10-year ban from the Academy. He cannot, however, accept them at the ceremony.

Smith has also said he’s gotten to feeling “purified and transformed” since the incident.

Emancipation arrives on Apple TV+, Friday. Check out the trailer for the film below.

Will Smith Says He Used To Beg Michael Jordan To Send Him Shoes To Wear On The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air

Here'sWhyWillSmithCan'tBeartoWatchHimselfon'TheFreshPrinceofBel Air'

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is noted as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time and is known for catapulting Will Smith into superstar status. Of the many memorable moments in the show that ran from 1990 to 1996, many fans and sneakerheads remember how Will was always wearing the newest or hottest Jordans during the episodes. In fact, in the first episode, he dons a pair of Metallic 5’s, and in the final episode a pair of Columbia 11s.

Well, on a recent episode of Matt Barnes and Steven Jackson’s All The Smoke podcast, Will Smith revealed that he used to beg Michael Jordan to send him pairs before they released so that he could wear them on the show.

“I was living the culture,” Smith said. “I was literally calling Jordan like ‘Mike, please, please don’t give it to nobody. Just let me be the first person, I gotta be the first person to wear it’. And he was like ‘Man, I don’t run that.’”

Smith also said he was unaware that Nike released multiple colorways of Jordan 5’s under the “Fresh Prince” name. The first pair dropped in 2013 and featured the “Grape” colorway without the laces (as Will famously wore them in the show), the second pair dropped in 2018, and the last pair dropped in 2020.

Chris Rock Blasts Will Smith’s ‘Hostage Video’ Apology During London Stand Up Set

chris rock

The slap saga never ends. Chris Rock has formally made a statement about Will SMith’s late July apology video. Appearing at The O2 arena in London for a coheadlining show with dave Chappelle, Rock slammed the effort calling it a “hostage video.”

According to Deadline, Rock used a small portion of his time on stage to address the video, stating, “fuck your hostage video.”

In previous sets, Rock joked with the idea stating, “Yes, that sh*t hurt. He played Ali. I can’t even play Floyd Mayweather.”

During the set, Chris Rock also referred to Will Smith as “Suge Smith” again, a slight nod to Suge Knight, who is in prison for voluntary manslaughter.

In his apology video, Will Smith revealed that representatives for Chris Rock said the famed comedian was not ready to speak to him.

In an August update, PEOPLE magazine reveals that Rock feels he never needs to speak to Smith about the matter.

“Chris doesn’t need to talk. This is clearly something that bothers Will more than Chris,” a source stated. “Will needs to deal with his issues. Chris is fine.”

A second source added, “The fact that he is making jokes about it already is a good thing. That means he is assessing it. But the stress of the slap and the aftermath has not taken over his life. Quite the opposite.”

You can see the apology below.
