Yesterday (March 11) was a big day for Kanye West: It was revealed that his and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1 single “Carnival” is No. 1 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. This makes the song Ye’s first No. 1 hit in 13 years, since his and Katy Perry’s 2011 collaboration “ET.” The achievement has West feeling some kind of way, and that way is vengeful.
In celebration of the feat, West shared his thoughts on Instagram, in which he goes after some of his opponents. He wrote:
“Rich Ty Carti and the supporters that stood by us through everything This number #1 is for you it’s for the people who won’t be manipulated by the system and f*ck adidas and everybody who works there or with them Anyone who goes to school with anyone who’s parents work at adidas Just know they tried to destroy me and here we are with the number 1 song in the world Like the fake dude I saw in the lobby at the Ritz that works at Goat You p*ssys don’t stand for sh*t And f*ck everybody at the Dailey Mail And F*ck everybody at the fashion houses that sided with Gabby and Hailey Bieber F*ck each and every single one of all And f*ck every Christian that watched me have my kids taken out of my control That’s how I feel And it’s f*ck Drake for taking Durk right at the beginning of the Vultures role out I’ll come back to yall if I think of more f*ck you’s.”

In music, the artist that dominates the charts tends to lead the pack. So, each week, when Billboard reveals the top 10 songs on its Hot 100 chart, entertainers and fans alike pause to comb over the results.
After weeks of streaming battles between music’s biggest names, the new rankings are ready for all to see. Continue below for the track-by-track breakdown for the chart dated March 16.
10. Taylor Swift – “Cruel Summer”
Until Taylor Swift‘s forthcoming album, The Tortured Poets Departmentis released, the Swifties are working hard to ensure the singer doesn’t leave the chart. Instead of latching onto her most recent project, Midnight, they’ve latched onto 2019’s “Cruel Summer.” Her Lover-era is long since over, but the public’s admiration for the track clearly isn’t.
There’s no sleeping on SZA’s sheer star power. The multiple Grammy Award winner’s sophomore album, SOS, is nearly two years old, and yet it still hasn’t left the charts. The project’s fan favorite, “Snooze,” has continued to showcase just how mighty SZA’s pen can be in the No. 8 spot.
The more Zach Bryan travels across the world on his Quittin Time Tour, the more he makes a country music fan out of all within earshot. Undoubtedly, the most addictive song on his self-titled album is “I Remember Everything.” The debut with Kacey Musgraves will surely be looked back on as a classic years down the line. So, it is no wonder why the track sets comfortably at No. 7.
6. Tate McRae – “Greedy”
Uproxx cover star Tate McRae’s recent live performance at the 2024 BRITS gave her breakout hit “Greedy” an added boost on the charts. For 25 weeks, the song has made the Hot 100 chart its home, peaking at No. 3 back in September. But with McRae’s string of live shows and the constant push on TikTok, another surge could be in the works.
5. Beyoncé — “Texas Hold ‘Em”
Beyoncé and her yeehaw agenda is a force to be reckoned with. With Act II only a few weeks away, the project’s lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” won’t loosen its grip on the Beyhive. Although it has fallen out of the No. 1 slot, thanks to the fan-crafted viral lineup, it could gitty up right back to the top quite soon.
4. Benson Boone – “Beautiful Things”
Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” is showing subtle growth. In prior weeks, the track dropped from its peak position at No. 2 to No. 3. But for the week of March 16, the record climbed a slot up to No. 4.
3. Jack Harlow – “Lovin On Me”
Jack Harlow’s viral sensation “Lovin On Me” has refused to fall out of favor. Like the rapper, the record ebbs and flows based on which way the industry trends. While it currently sits at No. 3, it could very easily snatch its previously held No. 1 position.
2. Teddy Swims – “Lose Control”
Teddy Swims‘ “Lose Control” glides right back into the top two of this week’s Hot 100 chart. Due to its continued popularity, next week could be the moment when the song takes over at No. 1. But for right now, the growth to No. 2 will work just fine for the singer.
1. Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign — “Carnival” Feat. Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti
At No. 1 is none other than Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign. After a fierce battle with Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” the collaborative duo Vultures 1 track, “Carnival,” featuring Rich The Kid and Playboi Carti, has snagged the top spot. According to Complex, this marked West’s first No. 1 song in 13 years.
This week’s #Hot100 top 10 (chart dated March 16, 2024)
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s new album VULTURES 1 has performed surprisingly well. Given all of the controversy it sparked and debates over whether or not some of the songs could even legally be allowed on streaming, its performance is significant. It debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 holding off Yeat’s new album 2093. Every single song from the album also landed on the Hot 100 in its first tracking week. Four songs from the album remain on the Hot 100 this week. “BACK TO ME” at #97, “FUK SUMN” at #82, “BURN” at #63, and “CARNIVAL” at #2. “CARNIVAL” is expected to have a resurgence next week and challenge Beyonce’s “TEXAS HOLD EM” for the top spot.
Ye and Ty have had the chance to play the album live at various listening parties in the US and Europe. The pair also have a planned performance at this year’s Rolling Loud in Los Angeles next week. But as far as taking the album on a major tour, that could be difficult. That’s because Live Nation and AEG, two of the biggest tour promoters in the country who are nearly essential go going on tour, are refusing to work with them. It likely has to do with West’s past antisemitic comments and the controversial lyrics throughout the record. According to Hits Daily Double West’s agent is still trying to set up a tour without the promoter, but it’s a tall task.
Before their performance at Rolling Loud next week, Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign are hosting another listening party. That will take place on Sunday, March 10 in Phoenix. Fans are hoping that VULTURES 2 still comes out on time later this week. The original announcement that the album was being split into three volumes included part two dropping this Friday. While the pair have seemingly been working on music, it’s unclear if they’ve got an entire new album ready.
What do you think of the biggest concert promoters in America refusing to work with Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign? Do you think they’ll still be able to pull off a tour without them? Let us know in the comment section below.
Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign may have been spending the past week insisting there’s a conspiracy against them in the recording industry (despite still receiving enough streams for their album, Vultures 1, and its singles that they debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s albums chart even challenged Beyoncé for the top Hot 100 spot two weeks in a row), but that may not stop them from continuing to release new projects under the Vultures moniker. Early last week, Timbaland tweeted, “Vulture Vol 2 OTW,” prompting fans to speculate when a second installment of Vultures would be released.
So, take the March 8 release date with a grain of salt, as it’s entirely possible the album could get deleted, canceled, or otherwise delayed at the last minute, without warning. Of course, for anyone still waiting for Kanye West albums in 2024, that possibility probably won’t deter them.
It’s no secret that the rollout of Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s joint album, Vultures 1, was major. After months of delays and teasing, the duo unleashed the album in full earlier this month. The release came just after their short-notice listening party in Ye’s hometown of Chicago.
Following the release, they went on to host listening events in New York, Miami, and more. The pair even hosted various subsequent events in Europe, reportedly selling out arenas in Bologna, Milan, and Paris. Of course, this is bound to raise questions about how much dough they managed to rake in through the events. According to Billboard‘s recent estimates, the number is pretty impressive.
Vultures 1 Listening Parties Reportedly Grossed Over $12 Million
The outlet reports that Ye and Ty’s listening parties in New York and Chicago each brought in about $2.4 million in ticket sales. Sales figures for the European events were unavailable at the time of writing, but tickets were going for similar prices overseas as they were in the U.S., between $140-$220. As all shows are believed to have sold out, this brings the gross total to more than a whopping $12 million.
It doesn’t look like Ye and Ty Dolla Sign plan on slowing down anytime soon, either. Rumors that Ye will embark on a world tour sometime in the near future are brewing, and the second installment of Vultures is only days away. Vultures 2 is currently expected to drop on March 8 of this year. This will later be followed by the release of the project’s third installment, presumably dubbed Vultures 3, on April 5. What do you think of Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1 listening parties bringing in an estimated total of over $12 million? Are you surprised? Kanye West has made it no secret over the past few years that he prefers the name “Ye.” While it hasn’t exactly caught on with the public it’s the name he’s used to release new music and what most interviews with him refer to him as. Now he’s attempting to get it changed in another place, his verified Instagram account. His account currently reads “kanyewest” as it has for years but a new post he made to the platform revealed that he’s in the process of changing it.
“Name being changed to Ye on insta shortly” the caption of his post reads. The picture of itself is a screenshot of DMs where he explains further. “I’m closing my Kanye West Instagram account. My name is Ye. No brand or numbers gonna force me to call myself what they still want me to be,” the message pictured read. At the moment his verified account still sports his original name. Additionally, a surprising amount of fans in the comments seem to be against the change. Check out his newest Instagram post below.
Multiple comments on the post insist that they still want to call West by his birth name. “Yo mama named you KANYE WEST, so that’s what I’m calling yo” one of the top comments reads. Another reply shares the same sentiment saying “Donda named you Kanye. So im calling you Kanye.”
West’s new album VULTURES 1 with Ty Dolla $ign has spent back to back weeks at the top spot on the Billboard 200. This week it held off Yeat’s new project 2093 which debuted at number two. The album’s hit song “Carnival” remains in the top 5 of the Hot 100 and is expected to rise back up the charts next week. What do you think of Kanye West wanting to change his Instagram name to just “Ye?” Do you refer to him as Ye or still call him by his original name? Let us know in the comment section below.
Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign‘s Vultures 1 collab album may be a hit among fans, but the album has not arrived without its controversies. Today (February 27), Billboard reports that Donna Summer’s estate has filed a lawsuit against West for interpolating Summer’s hit song “I Feel Love” on the Vultures 1 track “Good (Don’t Die).”
According to the lawsuit, West requested permission to sample the song, but was denied by the estate. West then rerecorded portions of “I Feel Love” to use on “Good (Don’t Die).”
“Summer’s estate … wanted no association with West’s controversial history and specifically rejected West’s proposed use,” attorneys for the estate wrote. “In the face of this rejection, defendants arrogantly and unilaterally decided they would simply steal ‘I Feel Love’ and use it without permission.”
The song has since been removed from streaming platforms, however, Summer’s estate is continuing to pursue legal action, as the song has already garnered many streams.
“This lawsuit is about more than Defendants’ mere failure to pay the appropriate licensing fee for using another’s musical property,” the estate’s lawyers wrote. “It is also about the rights of artists to decide how their works are used and presented to the public, and the need to prevent anyone from simply stealing creative works when they cannot secure the right to use them legally.”
Though the portions West used were re-recorded, Summer’s attorneys maintain that West copied the song, as the tunes sound too much alike,
“When listening to both songs, any average listener can immediately hear the distinctive similar melody and compositional elements present in both songs, which sound so identical that it appears Defendants may have gone so far as sampling the original master recording of Summer,” the attorneys wrote.
At the time of writing, neither West nor Ty Dolla Sign have directly commented on the matter.

It’s been a whirlwind of a ride for Kanye West, who finally unveiled his joint project with Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures 1, earlier this month. Already, the album proved to be monumental for Ye and Ty. However, Ye now faces a new lawsuit as a result of the project. The estate of Donna Summer has filed a lawsuit against Kanye over her single, “I Feel Love,” which he sampled on Vultures 1 single, “GOOD (DON’T DIE)” without proper authorization. According to the estate, he used a soundalike to interpolate one of her songs after initially being denied his request to sample “I Feel Love.”
You’ve likely heard the song already, even though it was later removed from the album days after its release. became one of the highlights of the project, though the familiarity of “I Feel Love” is undoubtedly part of the appeal. However, Donna Summer’s team made it abundantly clear in their suit that they already denied Ye permission to use the song (apparently, he reached to clear the sample on Jan. 31) yet he attempted to find a loophole around it. Still, Summer’s estate explains that the interpolation won’t protect Ye from copyright infringement.
Donna Summer’s Estate Won’t Stand For Kanye’s Antics
It really isn’t difficult to understand why the estate of the late singer, who still controls the copyright of the song, didn’t want to off on the sample. TMZ reports that this is presumably due to the string of controversy that surrounds Kanye, from his comments on George Floyd to his pro-Hitler tirades. At the end of the day, they decided that Ye’s use of her song wouldn’t be beneficial and passed up on Ye’s offer.
As for why the song is currently unavailable to stream on DSPs in certain markets, Summer’s estate said they reached out to streaming platforms to remove the song. Though streaming platforms like Apple and Spotify removed the song, it eventually returned to the tracklist. However, the song already gained millions of streams and for those who purchased the album on Apple Music, it’s apparently still available to listen to. The estate of Donna Summer is seeking major damages, along with an injunction to prevent the song from being distributed.
Rich The Kid sang along to his song, “Carnival,” with fans in Italy after a Vultures event. The moment was caught on video and is circulating on social media. The song is included on the tracklist to Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s new collaborative album, Vultures 1. It also features Playboi Carti.
Many fans reflected on the success of the track when Our Generation Music shared the clip on Instagram, on Saturday. “People really have the nerve to say he’s ‘milking the song’ as if it’s not the biggest song in the world rn,” one user wrote. Another noted: “Bro it’s crazy cuz they sound like the sample in the track.”

Despite the success of Vultures 1, its release has come with plenty of controversy. It’s been removed from streaming services on multiple occasions due to issues with the original distributor, FUGA, as well as disputes with both Donna Summer and Ozzy Osbourne over clearing samples. Rich addressed those issues in a tweet after the release of the project. “They removed us twice,” he wrote. “Still the biggest song in the world already #4 let’s go back #1 I appreciate everyone & all support.” The project once again disappeared from Apple Music on Saturday. Check out Rich The Kid’s performance in Italy below.
As for his solo work, Rich hasn’t released a full-length studio album since 2020’s Boss Man. He’s currently working on the follow-up, Life’s A Gamble. Be on the lookout for further updates on Rich The Kid on HotNewHipHop.
Kanye West is likely one of the most controversial figures in all of music. Though he’s been that way for a while now, it was kicked into overdrive in the past two years. His series of antisemitic rants created a massive viral controversy that caused dozens of brands and former collaborators to distance themselves from West. But earlier this month he and Ty Dolla $ign released a new album called VULTURES 1. The album got quite a bit of attention despite the controversy and a series of negative reviews from music critics.
Bloggers and fans attempting to report on and discuss the new album have put social media platforms like Instagram in a strange place. The platforms have been vocal about their resistance to hate speech, like West has repeatedly peddled in public appearances. But Instagram in particular may be having trouble separating posts about the album from posts containing antisemitic speech. That is at least according to DJ Akademiks who shared a screenshot of a warning he received from Instagram. He appears to have tried to make a post about all of the songs from VULTURES 1 hitting the Hot 100 this week. But Instagram warned him that making the post could limit his account’s reach. Check out the picture he shared below.
DJ Akademiks Claims Kanye West Post Could Get Him Shadowbanned
West’s new album is performing pretty well commercially. The project just debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 with nearly 150k albums sold in its first week. Additionally, all 16 tracks from the project debuted on the Hot 100 this week.
The highest debuting song was “CARNIVAL” which turned up in the top 5. It narrowly missed out on being the biggest single debut of the week. Beyonce’s shift into country music “TEXAS HOLD EM” landed at number two. What do you think of Instagram potentially shadowbanning accounts for posting about Kanye West’s new album?
