Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, has unveiled its annual end-of-year charts, highlighting the most-watched videos and artists of 2024. KAROL G and Taylor Swift dominate once again, topping the global and U.S. artist charts, respectively.

“Artists are the biggest influencers in the world, and the visual nature of music videos deepen an artist’s connection with their fans in a unique way that goes beyond the music itself. A frequent and consistent video release strategy not only enhances an artist’s brand, but it also galvanizes their fanbase,” said JP Evangelista, senior vice president, Content, Programming & Marketing, Vevo. “Major pop culture moments are therefore reflected in music video viewership, and Vevo’s annual recap provides the music and wider media and entertainment industry with a barometer for what was trending this year.”

KAROL G secured the title of Vevo’s Most Watched Global Artist for the fourth consecutive year with 3.5 billion views, followed by Shakira (1.96 billion) and Taylor Swift (1.95 billion). The Weeknd (1.8 billion) and Feid (1.7 billion) completed the top five. Meanwhile, in the U.S., Taylor Swift led with 470 million views, followed by Future, whose prolific output of 90 videos propelled him to second place with 462 million views.

Eminem’s nostalgic “Houdini” was 2024’s Top Global Premiere, amassing 56.2 million views in its first two weeks, while Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” followed with 51.1 million views. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste,” The Weeknd’s “Dancing in the Flames,” and KAROL G’s collaborative “+57” rounded out the top five.

In a groundbreaking moment, Becky G’s Regional Mexican video, “POR EL CONTRARIO,” became Vevo’s Most Watched Global Video with 312.7 million views, marking a first for the genre. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” took second (298.6 million), followed by FloyyMenor and Cris MJ’s “Gata Only” (296.4 million).

In the U.S., Country music achieved a historic milestone as Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” topped the chart with 82.9 million views. Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help” claimed second and third, showcasing the diversity of Vevo’s most-watched music this year.

This year’s rankings reflect a dynamic shift in global music, with Country, Hip-Hop, and Regional Mexican genres making unprecedented strides.

Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, announces the release of Shaboozey’s live performance of “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” off his album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

Shaboozey blends country and hip-hop genres, creating songs that feel as epic as a movie; gripping, unpredictable, immense in scope but rooted in raw emotion. On his new album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, Shaboozey charts a cinematic road trip through the wilds of the American West, bringing a powerful new depth to his storytelling whilst pushing further into the country/folk-inspired sound he’s explored in recent years.

Originally from Northern Virginia, Shaboozey pulls inspiration from other DMV artists like Missy Elliot, Pharell and Timbaland. After a decade of perfecting his sound, Shaboozey skyrocketed to the mainstream after being featured in two songs on Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album: “Sweet Honey Buckiin” and “Spaghetti.” His album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, was released shortly after, with the standout single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” built around J-Kwon’s 2004 hit, “Tipsy.” The track most recently became the longest-running #1 single in the Hot 100 of 2024, having now been in the top spot for eight weeks and counting.

“I’ve been doing music for such a long time, I’ve put a lot of time and years into it,” Shaboozey said in a recent interview, “I put so much into it that I feel like it’s just cool to see it working. Everybody hopes it works. To see it actually working, it’s unreal.”

On Vevo, Shaboozey has garnered over 147 million global views in 2024 so far, with the official video for “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” currently Vevo’s #1 most-viewed country video this year.

[WATCH] Vevo, Juvenile and Mannie Fresh Release Performance Videos For “Back That Azz Up” And “Party”

Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, announces Juvenile and Mannie Fresh as the next artists in their Ctrl series with a performance of “Back That Azz Up” and “Party” premiering today.

Vevo’s Ctrl series highlights the work of hard-hitting, cutting-edge musicians making an impact in today’s music scene – both emerging and established. These artists demand attention, and Vevo’s Ctrl shines a deserving spotlight. Juvenile and Mannie Fresh’s performances follow sessions from Rick Ross, Common, Rapsody, Fat Joe, Jeezy, Jadakiss, Fabolous, A$AP Ferg and more.

New Orleans rapper Juvenile is a Southern hip-hop veteran. Born Terius Gray, Juvenile was one of the initial figures involved in New Orleans’ “bounce” craze of the early ’90s, an uptempo style of hip-hop that combined gangster rap and party music. In 1997, Juvenile joined Cash Money, releasing his album Solja Rags that same year, as well as joining fellow Cash Money artists Lil Wayne, B.G., and Turk in the Hot Boys, who also released their debut album, Get It How U Live!. Both debuts were produced in total by Mannie Fresh, who was back for Juvenile’s 1998 solo release 400 Degreez, his platinum-selling, breakthrough effort thanks in part to the successful single “Back That Azz Up”.

In 1998, Mannie Fresh, half of the brains behind the Cash Money label, formed Big Tymers with Birdman, releasing a series of successful singles and albums. In 2004, Mannie busted out on his own with The Mind of Mannie Fresh, before returning to produce several tracks on Juvenile’s album Rejuvenation in 2012.

The two Cash Money heavyweights now reunite to perform their iconic hit, “Back That Azz Up” and “Party” for Vevo’s Original Content series, Ctrl.

Eminem Calls Shooting The Video “Such A Big Deal”

According to Eminem, the music video was the first he had ever filmed on such a large scale. He was in completely new territory, as his first-ever video was done on the cheap. “The video was the first big-budget thing I had ever done,” he explains. “It was such a big deal to experience a soundstage, a full crew, and all the things that come with shooting something at that scale. It was such a huge learning curve to see what a big Hollywood production looked like.”

He also reveals how the video’s concept came to life, noting how Dr. Dre was previously acquainted with the director, Phil Atwell. “They created the vision,” Em says. “It’s hard to imagine the song existing without that video,” he then adds, “They perfectly complement each other.” Atwell later went on to direct various other videos for the rapper, including “Stan,” “The Real Slim Shady,” and more.
