USHER & Pheelz Deliver Light & Rhythmic Soul Cut “Ruin”

USHER is making his long overdue return to music very, very soon. The iconic performer and seductive R&B singer will finally be releasing his first album since 2018. That was a mini eight-song LP with fellow Georgian producer Zaytoven called “A” that had features from Future and Gunna. If you are wondering when USHER put out his last solo effort, you would have to return to 2016 with Hard II Love.

While dropping your first album in nearly six years is very exciting, performing at the Super Bowl is another reason to be giddy. It is safe to say USHER is feeling that way based on all of his recent interviews. The ageless 45-year-old superstar’s next album will be called COMING HOME and will have 20 tracks. The tracklist, as well as the release date, which is February 9, is available to be seen on Apple Music.

Listen To “Ruin” By USHER & Pheelz

So far, USHER has put out three songs from the LP. Those include “Good Good” with Summer Walker and 21 Savage, the Jung Kook collaboration “Standing Next to You,” and “Risk It All” featuring H.E.R. That is being pulled from The Color Purple movie soundtrack. This latest single is called “Ruin” and brings along Nigerian Afropop/Afrobeats artist and producer Pheelz. He takes the reigns on the beat and adds a verse. Both sing beautifully about a lover that is slowly draining them of their energy. The instrumental mixes elements of soul, R&B, and Pheelz native sounds of African music. It all comes together very well, so be sure to check it out.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Ruin,” by USHER and Pheelz? Is this the best single from his forthcoming record COMING HOME, why or why not? Will this be a top-tier project in his discography? Are you excited about the LP? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding USHER and Pheelz. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

Quotable Lyrics:

Bye-bye, good riddance for the last time (For the last time)
So you can try, try (Try, try, try), maybe get it right next time (Maybe get it right)
Different timeline, maybe then you can be mine (Then you can be mine)
You ruined me for everybody
You ruined me for everybody, ooh
Bye-bye, good riddance for the last time (Ooh, for the last time)

Usher Releases Afrobeats & Amapiano-Inspired Single “Ruin”

Usher Releases Afrobeats & Amapiano-Inspired Single “Ruin”

Multi-Platinum GRAMMY Award-winning artist Usher has dropped his latest single, “Ruin,” infusing Afrobeats and Amapiano into R&B, produced by and featuring Pheelz. The track is a precursor to Usher’s ninth studio album, COMING HOME, set to release on Feb. 9.

Following the success of “Good Good” with 21 Savage and Summer Walker, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales Chart, “Ruin” continues Usher’s exploration of diverse musical influences. “Good Good” also secured Usher’s eighth No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart and dominated multiple major R&B/hip-hop airplay charts.

Directed by Dave Meyers, the creative mind behind Usher’s iconic videos like “U Remind Me” and “Risk It All,” the “Ruin” video captures the essence of love through various scenes, shot entirely on iPhone 15 Pro.

Usher’s upcoming album, COMING HOME, will be released via mega, a music collective founded by Usher and L.A. Reid in collaboration with gamma, a multimedia platform providing creative and business services. The joint venture ensures gamma’s exclusive distribution and marketing of all music released by mega.

Usher And Pheelz Find Themselves In ‘Ruin’ Over Women On Their Globally-Inspired New Single

We are just over a week out from Usher‘s sure-to-be iconic Super Bowl performance. On the same day, the illustrious singer will drop his new album, Coming Home. Ahead of the album, Usher has shared a new single, “Ruin.”

The Afrofusion-influenced song features Usher smitten over a special woman. So much so, he can’t imagine the idea of answering the phone to someone else, or giving any of his time to another.

“Wake up in the mornin’ / A different girl be on my line / Constantly be callin’ every day, I still decline / See? This exactly what you did / You ruined me for everybody / You ruined me for everybody,” sings Usher on the song’s chorus.

Nigerian singer Pheelz gives the song a bit of international flair with a verse of his own, wondering how he became taken over by love.

“I be learnin’ tricks where you put the money / ‘Cause back then I was very lonely / I still am, I’m just tryna find peace every day / My heart is on holiday,” sings Pheelz on his verse.

You can listen to “Ruin” above.

Coming Home is out 2/9 via mega/gamma. Find more information here.

Usher Was Apparently Almost In A Supergroup With Jay-Z(!), Pharrell(!!), And More(!!!)

Usher had a surprising reveal that he shared during a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. As it turns out, he was almost part of a supergroup of sorts many years ago — but things didn’t wind up taking shape. Instead, the other planned members like Jay-Z and Pharrell continued their solo careers.

“Jay-Z, Pharrell, Diddy, and me were supposed to be a group,” Usher said. “Yeah, that’s crazy. I didn’t say ‘No.’ I didn’t say ‘Yeah.’ I think that we just got caught up. I think we all got caught up in the moment.”

“We was talking about it and having secret meetings about it,” he added. “We were talking about music and how we gon’ flip it and the business of it. And somehow, man, we just got distracted and it never happened.”

He also pointed out that while it didn’t happen, he sometimes still wishes that it had.

However, Usher is still immensely successful, supergroup or not. He is gearing up to drop his new album, Coming Home. Then, two days after its release, he will take the stage at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium to perform the Super Bowl Halftime Show. To make things even more full circle, Jay-Z was the one who asked Usher if he would be interested, as he serves as a producer and consultant for the NFL’s Halftime performances.

Check out Usher talking about the group that never was above.

Usher Cleared Up A Rumor That He Was Once Beyoncé’s Nanny: ‘I Looked Over Them’

In a new interview, Usher cleared up a longstanding rumor that he was once Beyoncé’s nanny. Appearing on Shannon Sharpe’s YouTube show Club Shay Shay ahead of his upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, Usher downplayed the caregiving role he played for his fellow pop-R&B star.

Torward the end of the interview (about 53:00 above), Sharpe asks directly, “I read that you were Beyoncé’s nanny. Is that true? Were you Beyoncé’s nanny?”

“First of all, I’d be a ‘manny,’” Usher jokes (look, he grew up in a different era). “Nah, I wasn’t Beyoncé’s nanny. Daryl Simmons had a group by the name of The Dolls, and they came to Atlanta for the first time. This is before Destiny’s Child became Destiny’s Child. I think I looked over them while they was doing something in the house; I had to watch over them ’cause I was like the, you know, the authority — ’cause I guess I was the teenager at the time.”

Sharpe then wonders if Usher could foresee Beyoncé’s future success, using his discovery of Justin Bieber as evidence of his eye for talent. Usher plays it humbly, pointing out that Destiny’s Child, as a group, is still successful collectively. But he does note that even those around him would say they could see that Beyoncé was special.

There’s a lot of insight in the interview, from Usher detailing the preparation it takes to remain at the top of his game for so long to revealing tidbits about alternative timelines within the music industry where he and Jay-Z were in a supergroup. Check out the full interview up top.
