Cordae & Joey Bada$$ Show Pride In Their Grind On “Syrup Sandwiches”

In just one week, Cordae will be dropping off his third solo project The Crossroads. It will consist of 17 tracks with the currently known features being Anderson .Paak (x2), Lil Wayne, and Joey Bada$$. Speaking of the latter, he’s potentially on the final teaser track for Cordae’s tape called “Syrup Sandwiches.” For those who are unaware, syrup sandwiches are exactly what they sound like. However, they represent something much more than a sweet treat. They are brought up in rap music quite a bit, with Kendrick Lamar probably being the biggest MC to do so. He referenced the snack on his chart-topper “HUMBLE.”

Ayy, I remember syrup sandwiches and crime allowances.” These are very popular amongst those growing up in poverty-stricken areas and are a cheap meal that many grow up on. They also symbolize how far MCs have come from those trying times during their childhoods, which is essentially what this song is all about. Cordae and Joey instead focus on all of things they have accomplished rather than recounting their pasts. Both rappers drop some terrific one liners and do so over a fellow laid-back, almost drum-less instrumental. Spin the new record below and let us know how hype you are for The Crossroads.

“Syrup Sandwiches” – Cordae & Joey Bada$$

Quotable Lyrics:

You’re butlers to me, them young n****s uppin’ the heat
They stuck to the streets, like concrete, the hustle’s in me
They say you gotta beat the block up ’til your knuckles’ll bleed
That mean a n**** gotta rap until the pen out of ink
Your team weak, like Justin Timberlake, y’all been out of sync
A n**** skatin’ on the beat, s***, I could rent out the rink

Ice Cube Taps Killer Mike & Busta Rhymes For Unapologetic Banger “Ego Maniacs”

Ice Cube has a right to have major self-confidence, something that’s extremely prevalent on his new single “Ego Maniacs.” The California native and hip-hop culture icon is getting ready to drop his first solo album in just under six years with Man Down. It drops two Fridays from now, November 22, and it should be a momentous release. Him and his Cali brethren did drop their posse project SNOOP CUBE 40 $HORT back in 2022. However, given the dominance of West Coast hip-hop this year, 2024 needed a new lone tape from one of the coldest to ever do it (pun intended).

“Ego Maniacs” is Ice Cube’s second drop from this project’s rollout, with “It’s My Ego” being the first. If you’re wondering why the titles are so similar, it’s because this latest track is actually a slight remix. The beat from E-A-Ski (who’s producing the album) is a carbon copy. However, where this version differs is that it has some equally legendary guests. Killer Mike and Busta Rhymes hop aboard the bouncy and accessible G-funk instrumental and talk their talk just like Cube. The latter lays down a new verse for “Ego Maniacs” too. You can check out what will be the closing cut from Man Down with the link below.

I’m talking real player s*** like my man Too $hort
And back to the motherf***ing basics
N**** keep a .4-4 on ’em, ’cause you’re too two-faced
God damn it, I am it, I’m so dynamic
This guy, god damn it, spit fire, cause damage
I refuse to be moved by these new school antics

Ab-Soul Slices And Dices His “On The Radar” Freestyle Ahead Of “Soul Burger”

Ab-Soul is just two full days away from releasing his sixth LP titled Soul Burger. The project will carry 15 songs and will arrive on November 8 to be exact. The feature list is one to behold as well with Vince Staples, fellow TDE signee Doechii, Ty Dolla $ign, JID, and Lupe Fiasco, leading the way. Those are just a few of them though, so prepare yourself for sure. The 2013 XXL Freshman will be following up his comeback album HERBERT from 2022, which came after a six-year drought. Overall, TDE has been having an unbelievable year with the aforementioned Doechii, ScHoolboy Q, Zacari, and SiR also delivering some memorable releases.

It’s going to difficult for Ab-Soul due to the sheer artistry of those projects. But he’s definitely got more than enough talent in the tank to compete with his counterparts. The singles have been highly desirable with “Crazier” probably being our favorite out of the bunch. They are all a great refresher of what Soul brings to the table, so we are incredibly pumped for what’s possibly in store. Speaking of staying ready, the veteran MC has been popping up on a couple of freestyles lately.

Ab-Soul Has Fans Amped For His Next Album

One of his most recent came in the form of his respective verse on second-ever XXL‘s Cypher Lab. Him, A$AP Ferg, and Sauce Walka all brought their A game and also talked about the lack of respect for lyricism in hip-hop. The latter is something that Ab-Soul has in great supply, and he displayed that on his first “On The Radar” freestyle. He makes light work of JAY-Z’s “Squeeze 1st,” which he perhaps selected on purpose. He raps over an interpolation of that instrumental on the lead single for Soul Burger, “Squeeze 1St 2.” The lyrics are much different on this off-the-dome performance as he namedrops the album, Doechii’s new mixtape, and labels himself as “Marshall Mathers with melanin.” Check out the fire appearance above.

What are your thoughts on Ab-Soul’s “On The Radar” freestyle? Does this have you more excited for Soul Burger, why or why not? Where do you rank him amongst the rest of the TDE lineup? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Ab-Soul. Asap Ferg Announces “Darold” Album With Features From Future, Denzel Curry, Mary J. Blige, & More

A$AP Ferg, or shall we say FERG, is prepping to drop a new solo album this Friday called DAROLD. The November 8 release will put an end to an extended LP absence that has lasted for a little over four years now. Floor Seats II was that project, but it was a pretty short listen at just 11 songs and 31 minutes. It’s a formula that he’s seemingly sticking to once again as this body of work will be 11 also and will almost assuredly have a similar runtime. Nevertheless, it’s great to one of the biggest faces of the A$AP Mob back in this setting even with how enjoyable his recent loosies, singles, and features have been lately.

Speaking of singles, FERG has dropped two from it so far, which include “Allure” with Future and Mike WiLL Made-It and “Thought I Was Dead.” The aptly named track is most likely going to be the last one, but it was the perfect cliffhanger for what’s to hopefully come. FERG has been sounding pretty good for the last year or so, so fans should be in for treat with DAROLD. That also may be true in terms of the guests as well because there are some big names on deck.

The New York rapper dropped the tracklist to his Instagram account over the weekend and the East Coast ties are strong here. Him and Denzel Curry will continue to build on their growing connection on “Demons,” so that should be a fun one. Mary J. Blige will make two appearances with her contributions landing on “Casting Spells” and “Chosen.” Multi-talented artist of Harlem Bloody Osiris lands on the opening cut with DD Osama, who is one of New York drill’s youngest faces. But mixing things up regionally are Coco Jones, as well as rising UK singer Elmiene. Overall, it’s a big moment for A$AP Ferg and it should be one of the strongest releases in another strong upcoming weekend for hip-hop.

What are your thoughts on A$AP Ferg’s upcoming Darold album? Which feature do you think will be the strongest? Does this have the possibility to be his best body of work yet? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding A$AP Ferg. Smiley Returns With A New Single “Understand” Amid Potential Album Rollout

Smiley seems to catch a lot of strays online for not being the most thrilling talent on the OVO label. However, the Canadian act is encouraging those doubters to “#dontboxmein📦” This is a hashtag he’s been using quite frequently on his social media accounts, and it could mean something else. In the middle of September, the fifth-year rapper put out “Spill The Tea,” which was delivered in his exaggerated tone, along with his unique cadence and accent. It remains to be a divisive quality despite the fact that Drake has his back. In some cases, the co-sign is enough for some, especially when it comes to someone as big as The Boy. But we again go back to that “#dontboxmein” mantra. Smiley wants to make sure that no one belittles his abilities and that’s what he’s partially conveying on “Understand.”

It’s his newest release, and it might be teaser for a project that’s not officially in the works yet. That quote could be the title for it, but no one knows. However, it does help that Smiley packaged this track with “Spill The Tea.” On “Understand,” he’s making sure that people are aware that he’s a special artist and he’s lived/is living a one-of-a-kind life that most would dream for. The production on the track is ethereal and crisp, and the efforts can be attributed to Pooh Beatz. In terms of the flows, Smiley, is mixing auto-tuned singing with rapping, something he’s been doing for years now. It’s another fine addition to his still-growing catalog and one that we are sure he hopes will succeed. Check it out with the music video link below.

Maxo Kream Delivers An Excellent & Wise Tale About Being With The Right Crowd On “Big H*e Me”

Maxo Kream remains a prominent yet underrated figure within the Southern hip-hop region. The Houston native has been having a pretty remarkable year amongst the megastars in his area such as Megan Thee Stallion, Don Toliver, and Travis Scott. For example, he’s been developing a tight knit relationship with underground producer evilgiane with the rauchy “Bang The Bus” and heat-seeking “Eye Know.” You can also take a look at his respectable feature run in 2024 which consists of the assistance of 03 Greedo, Denzel Curry, That Mexican OT, and more. However, his efforts in which he’s been the featured act are arguably the most impressive. “No Then You A H*e,” is a touching and painful tribute to his late father, who tragically passed earlier this year.

It’s a tremendous story-telling record, and one that displays just how talented of a writer he is. That similar level of excellence shows up on Maxo Kream’s latest single, “Big H*e Me.” It’s one of the tracks that will appear on his upcoming album that will be out on November 8, Personification. Based on the title and creative artwork, it looks like we are getting all of Maxo’s personalities, ranging from earnest and serious, personal, and carefree. “Big H*e Me” looks to fit in the former of the categories, as the nearly five-minute cut explores into betrayal and personal experiences with back stabbers. It also touches on being around the right people, something that Maxo had to learn from the age of 14. He continues to wow us this year and we cannot wait for the album.

Ken Carson Drops Off Mind-Melting Single “Delusional”

It seems that 2023 was Ken Carson’s breakout year. He had been bubbling before A Great Chaos, but he really blew up and put everyone on notice. A protege of Playboi Carti, he’s been showing the hip-hop world that he will be a face of the rage subgenre for years to come. Viral singles such “ss” (Sydney Sweeney), “overseas,” and “Fighting My Demons,” are all displays of the lane he’s currently dominating. It’s glitchy, booming, and futuristic trap-like beats, with slurred deliveries and blunt lyricism. Ken Carson is staying true to that formula on his newest release “delusional,” which is his first record since the deluxe to A Great Chaos.

The Atlanta, Georgia rapper has never been one to have hidden meanings in his songs, and this one is no different. On this blistering single, Carson is giving it to this girl straight that she isn’t all she’s made herself up to be. “This b**** must be delusional / She think she perfect, huh, huh, she think she worth it, huh, huh.” However, this record is also about other’s people’s beliefs that can check him. “Try to rob me and my gang, you gon’ need many men.” This kingpin mentality carries into the last few bars of the track where he declares that he’s going to be president. It’s an in-your-face display both literally and figuratively and it just continues to show that Ken’s not going anywhere.

Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Share “Gorgeous” Featuring Jhene Aiko Ahead Of “Missionary”

On the eve of Halloween, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre formally announced the release date for their first album in over three decades, Missionary. Fans of the D-O-double-G can and the iconic West Coast producer to drop their body of work on December 13. The album is available for pre-save and pre-order, and it will boast 15 tracks with a heaping helping of features. It’s a wild guest list with Tom Petty, Jelly Roll, and Sting being the most left-field names. However, there are plenty you would come to expect, such as Eminem, 50 Cent, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Jhene Aiko.

Speaking of which, the airy R&B vocalist’s track, “Gorgeous,” is out today. The lead single features that West Coast vibe that you come to expect from Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Overall, they sound just as in sync as they did when they worked on Doggystyle in the mid-90’s. Aiko’s vocals soar on the chorus, but they aren’t overpowering. It matches up perfectly, because he’s bringing his well-known laid-back verses to the table here. The cover art (and album artwork) is a tell-tale sign of what to expect at least on “Gorgeous,” as Snoop Dogg and Aiko express their sexual desires. It’s fine and catchy way to start the full-circle celebration for this legendary duo and you can check it out below.

Skyzoo & Method Man’s Pens Are On Needlepoint On “The Workload”

One of the more underappreciated writers from the East Coast is back with a fiery vengeance and he’s not alone. We are talking about Brookyn, New York rapper Skyzoo and Method Man and they are here to show everyone again how clever their pen games are. “The Workload” is their first-ever collaboration and we are so thankful they decided to combine their talents. Hopefully, it continues because this is an excellent start to what could be a beautiful work relationship in the future. Their wealth of experience shows as Skyzoo and Meth rip off impressive one liners and double entendres left and right.

Some of the Wu-Tang Clan member’s are below, but here are some from Skyzoo just to give you an extra taste. “I can pen your doom or I can lead you where the plaques are / Catch me fully loaded rolling I click it and clear the fog / You listen to the quotes my Essentials is Fear of God.” Overall, it’s a thrilling track from start to finish from a lyrical perspective alone. However, we would be remiss to not mention the work done by Cartune Beatz. It’s dark, ominous, and intimidating just like Skyzoo and Method Man are on the track. On November 29, the former will be dropping Keep Me Company, and we are thrilled this will most likely be on it.

Central Cee Raps Like A Man Possessed On “One By One”

Central Cee may have just come by with one of his best performances on his latest single, “One By One.” The record is also a collaboration with the popular music platform A Colors Show, or simply COLORS. It’s his first-ever appearance on the aesthetically pleasing studio and he takes full advantage of this opportunity by going ballistic on the mic. He changes up the tone this time around, getting more personal and vulnerable. He raps about losing close friends, relationships, his struggles, and being a mentally tough.

He delivers these bars with great proficiency and passion, while displaying great breath control and technical ability. Also making “One By One” another hit for Central Cee is the Cash Cobain production. At times, his style can grow stale, and he tends to lean too heavily on samples. But the New Yorker cooked with this one, as the flipped Bryson Tiller vocals have that timeless chipmunk soul treatment. Those effects mixed with the speedy drill drums and knocking 808s come together to work in perfect harmony. In terms of what value this song will hold, it could be another single for Cench’s upcoming album, CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS.
