50 Cent Dismisses Omari Hardwick’s Complaints About How “Power” Ended

Arguably the biggest star from 50 Cent and Courtney Kemp’s hit series Power, Omari Hardwick, recently spoke out about fans’ disappointment in the ending and how he agrees that the network and show-runners didn’t do justice to his role (the main character Ghost) with his eventual death. “I’m with y’all in this sense,” Hardwick remarked at the Tribeca Film Festival recently. “I’m with you in the sense that the way the story was sold and told to me is not befitting of the way it ended, guys. So y’all have every right to be like, ‘It didn’t end right.’

“And because we don’t honor our fans enough, and I know me, Matt, and Trey are different,” Omari Hardwick went on. “We honor y’all, we honor our fans, man. We often forget that the fans are being sold and told a story that has a genesis, and that it has to end the way that it was sold.” Well, it seems like this didn’t sit well with the brain who turned Power into a multi-series juggernaut. 50 Cent recently took to Instagram to react to Hardwick’s comments, and he voiced some striking disappointment.

“This [ninja emoji] is a strange bird [bird emoji],” 50 Cent wrote in the caption of the post above. “The f**k is he talking about, [raised-eyebrow emoji] I never done nothing but look out for him. If he needed something I gave it to him. I understand now, that s**t didn’t matter.” Of course, the G-Unit mogul definitely could’ve gone way harder, as he proves time and time again with his Diddy disses. But this is more of a question about storytelling and satisfaction rather than gratitude and assistance, so perhaps Fif needs to shift gears.

Meanwhile, last year, Omari Hardwick revealed that Starz offered him to come back to the Power universe, but 50 Cent and the team couldn’t make it happen on Hardwick’s terms. “It would have to be the perfect thing,” he remarked. “They asked me before to come back. They asked me in the last year and a half to come back. When [they] offered this, when I was in Boston reading this script, I was in Boston saying ‘and then this.’ And then the ‘then this’ went to Starz and then they didn’t come back. They didn’t give me what I wanted on the ‘then this.’ So if they gave me the ‘then this’…but it would need to be the right ‘that.’”

Goodwill Industries International (GII) has announced the latest iteration of its “New Lives” campaign, designed to educate donors, funders, job seekers, and the public about its role as the leading nonprofit provider of job training and placement services in North America.

The campaign kicked off with a live event on July 10 at the Goodwill NYNJ Store & Donation Center in Brooklyn. Grammy-nominated artist Jordin Sparks headlined the event with a live performance and hosted discussions with individuals whose lives have been positively transformed by Goodwill’s programs. The event was live-streamed by Jordin Sparks (@jordinsparks), Goodwill Industries International (@goodwillintl), and Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (@goodwillnynj).

“Goodwill not only changed my life but saved my life,” said Anthony Martinez, a justice-impacted individual who received career services from Goodwill of Colorado. “They have put so many resources in front of me, put me through so many different classes, and continue to offer different coaching and executive training to help my career.”

The “New Lives” campaign features new print advertisements showcasing inspirational stories from diverse individuals who have benefited from Goodwill’s services. These stories are paired with real donations from Goodwill stores across the country that made such transformations possible. The campaign’s new television spot, “Last Day – First Day,” illustrates the cycle of a donation, showing how everyday items fund workforce development programs that help transform lives in local communities.

“We want our customers to understand that the Goodwill down the street from them is not just a convenient place to donate things they no longer use,” said Onney Crawley, chief marketing officer of Goodwill Industries International. “Rather, donations that are sold at Goodwill stores help fund life-changing career training and placement programs for people who have faced unthinkable hardships and just want a fair shot.”

Last year alone, Goodwill helped more than 1.7 million people through various services, including career navigation, digital and trade skills, reentry programs, adult education, and on-the-job training. Goodwill launched the “New Lives” campaign to a positive reception. Among donors who viewed the campaign, 77% expressed increased interest in donating their goods to Goodwill, while 69% showed more interest in shopping at Goodwill stores. Among thrifters, 76% were more interested in shopping at Goodwill stores, and 78% were more interested in donating their goods.

Brian Kennedy, a four-time Grammy award-winning music producer and founder of Hits to Healing, created the score for the “Last Day, First Day” ad. Kennedy aimed to convey the energy of a life changed through his composition, contributing to the ad’s emotional impact.

The campaign also includes a new online storytelling hub featuring feature-length profiles of individuals who have found more promising futures through Goodwill programs. The 36 individuals highlighted come from cities across the U.S., including Columbus, OH; Buffalo, NY; San Francisco, CA; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; and Savannah, GA.

Martin Lawrence Developing Dramatic ‘Martin’ Prequel Series

image

Didn’t have this one on our bingo cards today. Martin Lawrence is apparently developing a new series, “Young Martin,” which will offer a fresh, dramatic take on his iconic 1990s sitcom character, Martin Payne.

Interesting. This reimagining, as they call it, will follow the trend set by shows like “Bel-Air,” which gave a dramatic twist to Will Smith’s life story.

“Young Martin,” an hour-long drama, is set in present-day Detroit and centers on a spirited teenage Martin Payne. The series will explore his journey marked by ambition, humor, and compassion.

Get this, according to the official logline, the show will delve into themes of family, friendship, and the challenges of balancing adolescence and adulthood. Martin’s quick wit and magnetic personality will lead him into high-stakes situations where he must navigate various obstacles and emotions to find his path to success.

The project, reported by Deadline, is not yet attached to a network.

Unless you didn’t own a TV in the 90s, The original “Martin” sitcom, which aired for five seasons from 1992 to 1997 on Fox, followed Martin Payne, a radio talk show host, as he dealt with the ups and downs of his relationship with his girlfriend Gina (Tisha Campbell) and his friends Tommy (Thomas Mikal Ford), Cole (Carl Anthony Payne II), and Pam (Tichina Arnold). The show’s cast reunited in 2022 for the BET+ special “Martin: The Reunion,” where they shared behind-the-scenes stories and discussed the show’s legacy and impact. Thomas Mikal Ford, an original cast member, passed away in 2016.

“Young Martin” will be executive-produced by Martin Lawrence, Rae Proctor, Robert Lawrence, and Stacy Lyles under the banner RunTelDat, along with Bob Yari, David McPherson, Rosa Peart, and Greg Martin for WonderHill Studios.

Exciting times!

Kandi Burruss on Possible RHOA Return: “I don’t really have intentions on going back”

image

The Real Housewives of Atlanta drama continues and if you’re expecting a triumphant return from former star Kandi Burruss, don’t hold your breathe.

After 14 successful seasons as a full-time cast member, and let’s be real – the biggest Bravolebrity in Atlanta and arguably the entire franchise, Burruss shocked the Housewives world by announcing her departure ahead of the production for Season 16.

Get this, the decision stemmed from production delays that interfered with her other commitments.

“I wouldn’t have even been able to do this tour if I was still filming because obviously, they’re filming right now. Last season they were always complaining because I was always gone doing something else,” Burruss explained to the co-hosts of The Morning Hustle. “There are a lot of things that I wanted to do that I am trying to make happen right now. So, I figured it was the best time to go and do my own thing.”

So when she was recently asked if her exit was temporary or more permanent, Burruss clarified:

“I don’t really have intentions on going back. So, I don’t want to leave people hanging like, ‘I’m gonna be back next year,’ because right now, I’m focused on what I’m doing.”

And no lies spoke because Burruss is busy, busy.

When she is not producing Broadway shows, which includes the revival of The Wiz, her acting career is on the rise. ICYMI Burruss has a recurring role in the Showtime drama The Chi and will appear in Season 2 of Hulu’s Reasonable Doubt, as well as ALLBLK’s A La Carte. Slay!

And don’t think she isn’t still relevant in music. Burruss is touring with her group Xscape and SWV. And let’s not forget, she also manages several businesses across various industries, including food and beverage, clothing, cosmetics, and adult toys, while continuing to expand her entertainment empire. So when it comes to taking a break from RHOA, we get it.

Cypress Hill To Bring Iconic “Simpsons” Joke To Life Alongside London Symphony Orchestra

Today, musicians at the London Symphony Orchestra will make a joke from nearly three decades ago into a reality, and hip-hop fans can’t wait. The joke in question was featured on a 1996 episode of The Simpsons, and saw the group speculate that they had accidentally booked the orchestra, “possibly while high.” Ever since the episode aired, fans have been demanding a real link-up with the West Coast pioneers, a dream that will finally come true at the Royal Albert Hall.

It arrives just in time for the 30th anniversary of Cypress Hill’s 1992 album Black Sunday, and will feature performances of classics like “Insane in the Brain,” “I Wanna Get High,” and more. In a recent interview with BBC, B-Real expressed excitement over the eagerly awaited moment, crediting The Simpsons for giving them the opportunity of a lifetime.

“It’s been something that we’ve talked about for many years since the Simpsons episode first aired. So it’s very special for us. And it’s coming off the heels of our 30th anniversary for our Black Sunday album,” he told the outlet. “We’ve played a lot of historical venues throughout our career and stuff like that, but nothing as prestigious as this… We salute the Simpsons because if they had not written that episode, we probably wouldn’t be doing this.”

B-Real adds that the group has always strived to collaborate with “out-of-the-box artists,” despite any cultural differences that could come up. At rehearsals, for instance, the LSO reportedly thought that the term “Glock” was referring to a glockenspiel rather than a gun. What do you think of the London Symphony Orchestra performing Cypress Hill’s Black Sunday album to bring a Simpsons joke to life? Are you looking forward to hearing it?
