There’s One Way That Trevor Noah Would Like To See The Grammys Change

It was just announced that Trevor Noah will host the Grammys for the third consecutive year in 2023. In an interview with Billboard, he talked about how hosting the 2021 Grammy Awards made him a bigger fan of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, but he also discussed some things he’d like to see change.

“A lot of what I would suggest is what I’ve heard [Recording Academy CEO] Harvey [Mason Jr.] talk about: trying to create a Grammys where the music reflects the awards show and the awards show reflects the music,” he said in that same interview. “Oftentimes [with] awards shows, there may be a disconnect between the general public who are consuming music and the people who are voting on the music. It’s important for every awards show [that] wishes to maintain its relevance to understand that difference. The audience isn’t wrong in having different tastes or a preference on whom they wish to see. I think in music as a whole, you have to acknowledge that, and the Grammys has, albeit slowly.”

He continued, “Think of hip-hop finally being included way back in the day. It’s important for the awards to always consider what is making an impact in the world because there is no music that is better than another if people are enjoying it. There may be music that producers will enjoy more than the average person on the street, there may be music that travels the globe and does really well regardless of the language that it’s performed in.”

Trevor Noah Explains How Hosting The Grammys Made Him A Bigger Fan Of Cardi B And Megan Thee Stallion

When Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion performed their 2020 hit “WAP” together at the 2021 Grammy Awards, their salacious set got people and pundits talking. The performance apparently drew a number of FCC complaints, while Fox News correspondents were so “offended” by it, they couldn’t stop playing on their shows. Some members of Congress even complained about it on the House of Representatives floor instead of, y’know, doing their jobs. And while Meg thinks they did all this because they “secretly like it,” three-time Grammy host Trevor Noah made no secret of his own enjoyment of the performance.

In a new interview with Billboard, The Daily Show’s outgoing host shared how the performance actually made him an ever bigger fan of both performers. “I already came in as a fan of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, but I became a bigger fan because I saw the work that they put into the performance,” he said, also giving praise to another of the show’s performers. “Brandi Carlile was my favorite live performance at last year’s Grammys. She was stellar. She had a command of not just the stage, but every single note that she was performing in a way that few artists can achieve consistently.”

Noah will host for the third consecutive ceremony in 2023, explaining why in the interview. “I’m enjoying the fact that we’re juggling flaming swords… You develop a deep appreciation for what these people are doing beyond just the music that they make.”

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Trevor Noah To Host Grammys For Third Year In A Row

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards is set to kick off next February, with Trevor Noah officially hosting the popular ceremony for the third year in a row.

After recently wrapping up his time on The Daily Show, the South African-born comedian is ready to expand his career as a popular media personality.

In a sit-down with Billboard, the 38-year-old called the opportunity to host the Grammys again “thrilling,” saying, “For me, it’s a cheat code because I’m a fan of almost all the people who are there. It has also been interesting because of the journey.”

“The first one was [during] COVID-19, and it was a completely different way to make the show. And then the next one was in Las Vegas because of the restrictions [in Los Angeles], and that was a different type of show,” Noah continues. “Now it’s exciting [because] it’ll be the first one for me back in L.A. — that’s hopefully not just normal, but different for the right reasons.”

On why he considers himself to be a good candidate for the honor, the political commentator flaunted his long resume, dating back to his start in South Africa.

Working in the entertainment industry for nearly two decades, he shared, “I’ve been lucky enough to host crazy productions where everyone’s running around and you have to hit your marks and do different things…I allow myself [to be] comfortable with the idea that everything could go wrong in a moment.”

Noah signed off from The Daily Show earlier this month after hosting the show for seven years. Comics Craig Kilborn and Jon Stewart previously headlined the program, which debuted in 1996.

After announcing his departure in September, he offered his fans a brief explanation for his exit, saying on the show, “After seven years, I feel like it’s time. I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road, standup was done. And when I got back out there again, I realized there’s another part of my life I want to carry on exploring.”

On what’s next for the actor-writer, Noah will begin his Off The Record Tour in 2023, traveling across the country to perform new material and get back to his stand-up roots.

Who Will Host The Grammys In 2023?

The 65th annual Grammy Awards are set to premiere on February 5, 2023, and former Daily Show host Trevor Noah is scheduled to host the annual award show again.

The South African comedian and TV show host has become a mainstay for the yearly award show. Noah first hosted the program in 2021 before returning to host in 2022. Now for the third year in a row, the Recording Academy has tasked Noah with the coveted position.

In a recent Billboard interview, Noah revealed how he prepares for the award show, saying he likes to “get a sense of the vibe” of what’s happening in music and pop culture.

“First of all, I listen to absolutely everything that’s going to be on the show just to get a sense of the vibe,” Noah told Billboard. “I want to get into the feeling of what’s going to be happening on the night. I spend a lot of time writing and preparing for what will or won’t happen. I try to think about what’s happening in music and pop culture. Then obviously, I’m paying attention to what’s happening on the night. I try to craft my performance so that it is most complementary for what is happening from one performance to the next. We rehearse a lot, and we need to because it’s life, and, as I said, anything can happen.”

Grammys Mainstay Trevor Noah Will Complete The Three-Peat And Host Yet Again In 2023

In recent years, Trevor Noah has become pretty much as big a part of the Grammy Awards as the gramophone trophy. He first hosted the program in 2021, then he returned in 2022. Now, the Recording Academy has decided to not fix what isn’t broken: Noah will host for the third year in a row at the 2023 Grammys. The 65th Annual Grammy Awards are set to go down on February 5, 2023.

In a new Billboard interview, Noah said of how he prepares for the show:

“First of all, I listen to absolutely everything that’s going to be on the show, just to get a sense of the vibe. I want to get into the feeling of what’s going to be happening on the night. I spend a lot of time writing and preparing for what will or won’t happen. I try to think about what’s happening in music and pop culture. Then obviously I’m paying attention to what’s happening on the night. I try to craft my performance so that it is most complementary for what is happening from one performance to the next. We rehearse a lot, and we need to because it’s live and, as I said, anything can happen.”

Trevor Noah Leaving “The Daily Show” After Seven Years

Trevor Noah is saying goodbye to his beloved gig. According to reports, the 38-year old star is leaving The Daily Show after a seven-year tenure with the Comedy Central late night show. The South African comedian added, “After seven years, I feel like it’s time. I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road, standup was done. And when I got back out there again, I realized there’s another part of my life I want to carry on exploring.” Comedy Central tapped Noah to join the show in 2016 after Jon Stewart’s departure as host.

As he bid farewell to his nightly gig, Noah told the audience, “I never dreamed that I would be here. I sort of felt like Charlie in the chocolate factory. I came in for a tour of the what the previous show was, and then the next thing I know, I was handed the keys.” The network also released a statement regarding the comedian’s departure, stating, “We are grateful to Trevor for our amazing partnership over the past seven years.  With no timetable for his departure, we’re working together on next steps.”

The news comes on the heels of fans speculating that Noah is dating songstress Dua Lipa after they were reportedly spotted “kissing and hugging on a cozy night out” in New York City earlier this week.

No word on who Noah’s replacement will be or when his final day as host will be. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Are Dua Lipa And Trevor Noah Dating?

Dua Lipa and Trevor Noah are sparking rumors of romance. Today (September 29), the Daily Mail published photos of the two enjoying dinner in New York City. As they parted ways for the evening, the two were reportedly seen hugging and kissing.

Are Dua Lipa and Trevor Noah dating?

Though Lipa and Noah have not previously hinted at a romance, an onlooker who was in the restaurant told the Mail the two were looking mighty cozy throughout the evening.

“They were quietly sat away from everyone else at the restaurant,” said the source “It was clear they were into each other and sat close together throughout the meal. They left together and walked, stopping for long embraces and on the second kiss with hugs.”

Before last night, Lipa was previously linked to Anwar Hadid. Per the Mail, Hadid and Lipa began dating in 2019, but split last December.

Noah had been previously linked to Euphoria actress Minka Kelly. Noah and Kelly were first rumored to have been dating back in September 2020, and were reported to have “paused” the relationship back in May of 2021, which is the last time the two were reportedly seen together.

Trevor Noah Speaks On The Kanye-Kim-Pete Situation: ‘All Of Us Should Have An Opportunity At Redemption’

Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Pete Davidson have been mixed up in a messy love triangle of sorts, and many people had opinions on it. Trevor Noah in particular spoke on the matter regarding Ye’s harassment of Kim K, and Ye had words for him in response in the form of racial slurs. In a recent conversation with Variety, Noah opened up on why he even said anything in the first place.

For what it’s worth, though he condemned the Donda artist’s actions, he also was not happy with the decision to cancel his appearance at the Grammys show Trevor Noah hosted.

“I said counsel Kanye, not cancel,” the comedian said. “It’s easy to stand on the sidelines, see a train crash coming and say nothing about it. And then after the train crashes off the tracks, we say, ‘Oh, I saw that coming!’ Well, then why didn’t you say anything? Especially if you have some sort of platform, you have some sort of obligation to speak a truth. You know, see something and say something.”

Noah later spoke on his desire for everyone to feel comfortable addressing people they care for as opposed to just pushing them to the side. “I think we have gotten very comfortable discarding human beings, immediately tossing them away and making them irredeemable characters,” he said before continuing, “When in fact I think all of us should be afforded the opportunity to redeem ourselves. All of us should have an opportunity at redemption.”

While the drama is fun to focus on, Noah is clearly more concerned about rehabilitation and accountability.
