Babyface Breaks Silence On Anita Baker “Feud”

R&B singer-songwriters Babyface and Anita Baker have alleged beef. After being unceremoniously cut from Baker’s Songstress tour, Babyface went on the Jason Lee Show to clear the air. The tour, which is celebrating the 40-year anniversary of Anita Baker’s debut album, had Babyface as an opening act. However, due to multiple issues, Baker thought it necessary to cut him from the show.

According to Babyface, one of his last appearances in the show was rife with technical difficulties. From Baker’s point of view, he constantly went over his allotted time, causing her to start very late. In Newark, NJ, technical failures shortened the show, leading to the decision to give the remaining time to Anita. Fans of the male musician reportedly cyberbullied Baker, upset about his limited stage time. Combine outraged fans with an opening act going beyond his time, and it was enough for Baker to pull the plug.

How Babyface Feels About Anita Baker

Despite his fans being overtly critical of Baker, making her out to be a villain, Babyface seems unfazed about it all. “First of all, I have no problem being a support act for Anita Baker,” he says in a video clip of the Jason Lee Show. “I have that much love and respect for her art.” He also clarifies that it was always her show and that it was never a co-headliner situation. The full interview dropped on Revolt TV yesterday, so we can get more insight into what he thinks about his fans cyberbullying Baker and what he’s going to do with his newly found free time.

Babyface is an R&B icon with over 40 years of music output. He released an album in 2022, Girls Night Out, his first one in seven years. As for Anita Baker, she’s still busy after all these years. In addition to the Songstress Tour, she performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” at this year’s NFC East Championship Game for the 2022 NFL Playoffs. Rolling Stone has Baker ranked number 92 on their list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.

Ty Dolla $ign Announces “more motion less emotion” Tour

Ty Dolla $ign is skipping a summer tour this year and instead taking off later in 2023. The rapper and singer just announced a massive 31-date tour. The tour starts on September 15th in San Diego with an opening show at Soma. From there is squeezes quite a few shows in a pretty short amount of time. The tour wraps up shortly over a month later with a San Francisco show on October 27th. Ty is bringing Symba and Leon Thomas with him throughout the tour as openers.

Ty Dolla $ign made the announcement with an Instagram post earlier today. The caption reads “More Motion Less Emotion tour coming to a city near you.” The post has already racked up over 10k likes and the comments are filled with fans picking out which of the shows they plan on attending. The tour is named after Ty’s newest single “Motion” an incredibly smooth new song he earlier this month. The song is set to serve as the lead single for a still unnamed new EP that’s expected to drop this summer.

Ty Dolla $ign’s Fall Tour

Last month several demos and alternative versions of Drake songs leaked, including one with a Ty Dolla $ign verse. The track “Jaded” from Drake’s album Scorpion was co-written by Ty and a new leaked version of the track features a full verse that he recorded for the song. Late last year following reports that he had been hospitalized for injuries that came from skating, Ty shared a video of the incident. The scary video sees the rapper falling backwards and the back of his head making impact with the ground.

Ty Dolla $ign has long been rap’s undisputed feature king and this year is no different. He’s appeared on new albums from Tink, Daniel Caesar, and Lil Pump already just six months into the year. He’s also appeared on a number of new singles, most notably Alesso’s song “Caught A Body.” Which of Ty’s upcoming tour dates do you plan on attending? Let us know in the comment section below.

The phone incident isn’t the only issue Rexha’s had in recent months. Back in April, she complained on social media that TikTok suggests users search the phrase “bebe rexha weight” when typing in her name. “Seeing that search bar is so upsetting,” she wrote on Twitter at the time. “I’m not mad because it’s true. I did gain weight. But it just sucks. Thank you to all the people who love me no matter what.”

N.O.R.E. Links Up With Wu-Tang Clan Backstage

N.O.R.E. met up with members of Wu-Tang Clan backstage at one of the legendary group’s concerts with Nas. In doing so, the Drink Champs host called on GZA to come on his podcast so he can give him his flowers.

“Come on Godamnit,” he remarked to the group. “I need y’all both on the show. Come on. Let’s go. I gotta give you your flowers. I’m telling you, come see me.” Wu-Tang has been traveling with Nas for their NY State of Mind tour. They recently finished up the European leg of the tour and will be returning for more shows in the United States after the summer.

In addition to meeting up with Wu-Tang, N.O.R.E. also recently linked up with Nas after the group’s Paris show. N.O.R.E. didn’t need to invite the legendary Queens rapper on Drink Champs, as he’s already appeared on the show. In fact, N.O.R.E. recently described the episode as one the most “surreal” interviews he’s ever conducted.

“That’s my brother and I never really wanted to interview him at all because he’s my brother, but the fact that he did sit down… it’s very weird to ask people questions that you don’t wanna ask them,” N.O.R.E. told HipHopDX backstage at Lovers & Friends festival in Las Vegas. “I’m not the police, and they know I’m not the police. But at the end of the day, I wanna have fun and I wanna make them surreal,” he said.

LL Cool J Postpones Tour Dates, Confusing Fans

LL Cool J has postponed a number of his upcoming F.O.R.C.E tour dates. However, the nature of their postponement has left fans confused, as some of the shows are listed elsewhere as having been canceled entirely.

“I have to give my fans an experience that is unforgettable,” he wrote on Instagram, Friday. “I want to make sure everything is done right, and in order to do that, I had to change some things up. The updated tour dates are now live. Link in Bio to check it out. I’ll see you there. More to come.”

Despite LL Cool J saying that the updated dates are live, many fans noted that they were seeing their local shows as having been canceled entirely. “Yea but Barclays ain’t saying rescheduled they saying it’s straight up canceled…,” one fan wrote. LL Cool J was slated to perform at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on June 27. Another fan joked: “I took off work. I brought an outfit. I’m going to need you in the couch for the next few days until I get over this. (And you look real ready to me…ok you can come to bed, but stay on your side…just tonight) love you too.”

Not all fan responses were so negative. “Damn I had Tix to the Brooklyn show on 6/27 and it’s canceled with no make up date,” wrote one more supportive fan. “I wish it was rescheduled and my seats would be good for new date. Very disappointed but I understand if it ain’t right you don’t wanna half step, everything gotta be on point.”

Anita Baker Removes Babyface From Tour After His Fanbase Bullies Her Online

The drama began when Babyface’s performance at her show on May 10 at the Prudential Center was cut after technical issues pushed the start time. In the time since, fans of the legendary musician have been criticizing Baker on social media. Baker says that she’s made the decision to remove Babyface from the tour out of consideration for her own safety.

Pusha T Says He’d Be “Really Smoking” Rappers This Summer If He Wasn’t On Tour

Pusha T’s currently taking It’s Almost Dry overseas for a string of festival dates in Europe. However, it seems like he’s plotting away on the release of new music. The rapper shared a video recap from his performance at Primavera Sound at Porto, Portugal where he issued a message to the rest of his peers in the hip-hop space. “Fun fact: had I not had to do these shows, I would’ve been f***in’ y’all up this summer,” he said. “I’m talking about really smoking you n***as, man.”

It remains unclear who Pusha T is currently speaking about but he’s evidently feeling inspired these days. “Hope you enjoyed all the highlights from this run. This marks the beginning of summer for me, and I’m feeling competitive…how about you?” he wrote. Hopefully, this is an indication that he has new music on the way before the year comes to an end. He continues to ride high off of the success of It’s Almost Dry, although he hasn’t released much music since then.

What’s Next For Pusha T?

Although Push didn’t mention any names, his recent comments could be a slight jab towards Jim Jones. Following Dipset’s appearance at Drake’s Apollo Theater concerts, Jones said that Pusha T doesn’t deserve a spot on Billboard’s Top 50 greatest rappers list. Ultimately, these comments caused a storm on social media but Pusha T seemingly brushed it off after his appearance at Fear Of God’s runway show.

In the last year, Pusha T continued to tease the release of several projects. One, his follow-up to It’s Almost Dry, although it’s unclear if that will see the light of day anytime soon. Given that he parted ways from G.O.O.D Music, it remains unclear if Kanye West will produce his next opus. Secondly, he and DJ Drama have confirmed that they’re working on a Gangsta Grillzˆmixtape together. No update on when we might expect that to arrive but hopefully, the two come through with a single to hold us down for the summer. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding Pusha T’s next project.
