As veterans in hip-hop and longstanding collaborators, Meek and Ross’ high-energy set wasn’t just limited to their latest body of work. The duo decided to surprise viewers with a performance of Meek’s 2012 “Ima Boss,” featuring Ross.
Ross shared what led to their collaborative album during an appearance on The Morning Hustle. “This was the right time,” he replied. “We’re both solo artists and both doing our thing. I’m building MMG, and he’s building Dream Chasers [Records]. I felt like this was the right time. You know what I mean, it just came together. So we spent a little time together and got into the studio. Sh*t just came together too easily; it just flowed,” said Ross.

When it comes to powerhouse collaborations in hip-hop, few duos can match the dynamic energy of Rick Ross and Meek Mill. Since the early 2010s, these two prolific artists have joined forces on numerous tracks, leaving a lasting impact on the rap scene. Ross took Meek under his wing as one of the primary artists on MMG and cemented the label as a powerhouse. These days, the two are readying the release of their forthcoming joint project, Too Good To Be True, and recently shared the project’s tracklist. Led by the singles “Shaq & Kobe,” its remix with Dame Lillard and Shaq, as well as “Lyrical Eazy,” Too Good To Be True is already shaping up into the collaborative project that we’ve been longing for.
Ahead of the release of Too Good To Be True, we decided to highlight 7 of their collaborations that are worth revisiting. In no particular order, these 7 songs have helped form the foundation that serves as the launching pad for their upcoming project. Check it out below.
One of the earliest and most impactful collaborations between Rick Ross and Meek Mill was the 2011 hit, “Ima Boss.” This high-energy anthem not only solidified Meek Mill’s presence in the rap game but also showcased the seamless partnership between the two artists. Furthermore, Meek Mill’s fiery delivery and Ross’s authoritative presence combine to create a track that remains a staple in hip-hop playlists.
“Tupac Back”
Released in the same year as “Ima Boss,” “Tupac Back” is another track that stands out in their catalog. Serving as the lead single for MMG’s debut compilation, Self Made Vol. 1, Rick Ross and Meek Mill pay homage to the legendary rapper Tupac Shakur. Moreover, their clever wordplay and intense energy attempt to channel the spirit of Tupac, making it a memorable tribute to one of the greatest rappers of all time.
In 2014, Rick Ross and Meek Mill joined forces for “Off The Corner,” a gritty track that reflects their experiences transitioning from the streets to the rap game. The song was released as a loose single in the lead up to Meek Mill’s sophomore album, Dreams Worth More Than Money. The record captures their authenticity and the essence of their past while embracing their current success.
“So Sophisticated”
A highlight from God Forgives, I Don’t, “So Sophisticated” marked an elevation in their collaborative streak. The two rappers attack blistering production with ease, showcasing their lyrical prowess and chemistry. Additionally, this track showcases their ability to elevate the hip-hop game with their seamless partnership and captivating verses.
A gem from Meek Mill’s debut album, Dreams And Nightmares, “Believe It” quickly became a street anthem and an underrated cut off of the project. This track underscores the creative synergy between Rick Ross and Meek Mill. The two cleverly describe the drug trade, using two of the biggest pop stars of the time – Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber – as euphemisms for cocaine and heroin. The anthem exudes confidence and celebratory feelings, describing th As they trade verses, the two artists paint vivid pictures of their respective journeys, from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of success.
“Lamborghini Doors”
In 2017, Rick Ross released the album Rather You Than Me, which included the track “Lamborghini Doors” featuring Meek Mill and Anthony Hamilton. Although a number of entries on this list include the two tackling boisterous trap production, “Lamborghini Doors” leaned into the definitive Maybach Music Sound. The lush orchestral production, paired with Anthony Hamilton’s smooth vocals, allows the two to share introspective bars reflecting on their rising status.
“What’s Free”
From Meek Mill’s Championships, “What’s Free” is a standout track featuring not only Rick Ross but also the legendary Jay-Z. While it’s a collaboration between the three artists, it’s worth mentioning for the dynamic verses delivered by Ross and Meek. Their contributions complement Jay-Z’s legendary status, making it a track that captures the essence of freedom and success in the rap game.
Rick Ross and his Maybach Music labelmate Meek Mill are finally releasing a collab album. Too Good To Be True arrives later this week, and comes after the two have been collaborating for over a decade.
While a Meek and Rozay collab is usually guaranteed to be fire, the collabs on the album’s tracklist also show to be promising. Ross revealed the tracklist on his Instagram page today (November 8), and fans can expect to hear some heavy hitters.
Wale and The-Dream appear on a track called “Fine Lines,” which comes after “Above The Law,” featuring DJ Khaled and Teyana Taylor. Also on the tracklist is a remix of the single “Shaq & Kobe,” featuring one of the song’s namesakes Shaquille O’Neal, along with Dame D.O.L.L.A.

Rick Ross recently revealed that he nearly signed with Shaquille O’Neal when the NBA star launched T.W.IsM. records back in the 1990s. Speaking with Complex during an interview alongside Meek Mill, Ross discussed his relationship with Shaq. The comments come as Ross and Meek prepare for the release of their collaborative project, Too Good To Be True.
“Many years ago, I met with Shaq when he was launching his T.W.IsM. records. We met in Atlanta somewhere, we met in a restaurant. We was in the restaurant then we in the back, in the kitchen. I spit a few bars for him. He gave me his contact. We stayed in touch over a little while but you know how it go.” From there, Ross joked about how far he’s come since then: “Sh*t, I might sign him. Why not?”
Ross and Meek plan to drop Too Good To Be True on November 10. Timbaland recently revealed that he’s heard the project while speaking with 99JAMZ radio station in Miami. He described it as a “masterpiece.” “Ross giving you that Big Meech Ross,” Timbaland expressed. “And that’s all we want. We don’t want Ross to sound like Uzi Vert. That album says a lot to me because Meek is being Meek, whether you like it or not. It’s not dated, it sounds current, it sounds fresh, and it sounds like a classic. And you could tell the space they in. I don’t even need to talk to him and ask what space he in, you can hear it through the music.”
The two dropped the first single from the project, “SHAQ & KOBE,” back in September. Be on the lookout for further details on Ross and Meek’s Too Good To Be True on HotNewHipHop before the project drops on Friday.

Rick Ross and Meek Mill recently sat down with Complex to discuss many things, including conspiracies. Specifically, the two rap icons discussed what the “GOAT” conspiracy was. “I signed up for TikTok…I’ve being going down a rabbit hole every night before I go to sleep. I can’t tell you if its Nikola Telsa…How the Pyramids were built…The Alaskan ice wall…I’m all over the place y’all,” Meek began. “The aliens…the Greys…I’m on a journey at nighttime.” However, Ross hit him with an old classic in response. “The GOAT conspiracy theory…Everybody been on my DMs the last two months about being on Star Isle. So it’s the Illuminati.” The pair then joked about both being in the Illuminati.
Now everyone knows about the Illuminati but what f-ck is Meek on about? By “Nikola Telsa”, he’s like referring to free energy suppression. This is a theory that Telsa invented a source of free perpetual energy that was then suppressed by Thomas Edison and the US government. Meanwhile, many people believe that the Pyramids were built by aliens or a forgotten mega-civilization that lived at the end of the age of the last ice age. Finally, “Alaskan ice wall” is a sub-conspiracy of the Flat Earth that states that the flat earth is ringed by a giant, impassable wall of ice.
Elsewhere in the feature, the pair were asked about the “GOAT Drake Feature”, which prompted a reveal from Meek. “Meek Milly and Rosé, we f-cking with the boy heavily. Listen out for it on some of the new sh-t that’s coming out very soon, you hear?” Meek revealed. “You better believe it,” Ross chimed in. Of course, both men have a long history of collabing with Drizzy. Ross’ last collab with Drak was 2021’s “You Only Live Twice”. Meanwhile, Meek’s last track with the Six God was 2019’s “Going Bad”.
The track will likely appear on Ross and Meek’s joint album which they announced back in September. Too Good To Be True will be released “ASAP” according to the pair. Furthermore, they already teased fans with the album’s sound by dropping the single “Shaq & Kobe”. Additionally, they then released a remix of the track featuring Damian Lillard and Shaq himself.
Rick Ross and Meek Mill’s joint album Too Good To Be True is coming soon, and not long after the pair dropped their dominating lead single, “Shaq & Kobe.” But already the two are suggesting that their forthcoming musical link isn’t a one-and-done arrangement.
On Thursday, October 27, during an appearance on The Morning Hustle, Ross subtly hinted that an MMG (Maybach Music Group) reunion could be on the horizon. Co-host Lore’l asked the burning question most rap fans want to know, “Where is Wale?” Although Wale recently unveiled his new single, “Max Julien,” fans were curious if he was included in Ross and Meek’s upcoming album.
Ross cleared that up, saying, “Wale is actually working on his [own] project. He’s doing his thing. He’s over at Def Jam Records.”
Ross later teased that a future collaboration could be in the near future. “It’s a good chance. You know how we get down,” he said. While it’s unclear if an entire album, similar to their 2011 Self Made Vol. 1, will come from this confession, it’s exciting to know that the trio will lock into a studio soon.
Later in the conversation, Ross was asked why he hadn’t recorded a collaborative album with Meek in the past. “This was the right time,” he replied. “We’re both solo artists and both doing our thing. I’m building MMG, and he’s building Dream Chasers [Records]. I felt like this was the right time. You know what I mean, it just came together. So we spent a little time together, and we got into the studio. Sh*t just came together too easily; it just flowed.”

This news might just be too good to be true. As the hip-hop world eagerly anticipates Rick Ross and Meek Mill’s forthcoming collaborative album, Too Good To Be True, the biggest surprise in store may have been revealed. A MMG (Maybach Music Group) reunion may be on the horizon. The pair teased the involvement of Wale in the project. During a recent appearance on The Morning Hustle, Rick Ross hinted at the possibility of bringing the MMG family back together. This contributes to the project being a highly-anticipated release.
Rozay made the statement during a candid interview. He dropped the bombshell after the one-minute mark. After the interviewer asked “Where’s Wale?” Rick responded with a positive answer. “Wale is actually working on this project. He’s doing his thing, and he’s over there at Def Jam Records.” The interviewer followed up and asked, “Are we gonna see him pop up somewhere on the album?” This news instantly caught the attention of hip-hop fans and left them eagerly awaiting the prospect of a reunion of the MMG crew.
The hosts wasted no time directly asking about Wale’s potential involvement in their joint project. “Will we see Wale on this upcoming project?” Rick Ross responded with a mysterious smile and the words, “It’s a good chance. You know how we get down.” This cryptic response sent the rumor mill into overdrive. Fans speculated about the extent of Wale’s participation in the album and the possible reunion of the MMG family. Wale’s journey in the music industry has been closely intertwined with Maybach Music Group, having signed to the label in early 2011.
The possible MMG reunion on Rick Ross and Meek Mill’s collaborative project has sparked excitement and nostalgia among hip-hop enthusiasts. The two have previously released single “Lyrical Eazy,” just last week. And it’s a freestyle type of song that showcases high-quality production and some of the best lyrics we’ve seen from both of them in a while. However, the chemistry and talent of the MMG artists coming together once again is something fans won’t want to miss. Moreover, as the release date for Too Good To Be True draws near, fans eagerly await further details. Hopefully, more info arises on this potential reunion. We can’t wait to learn what Rick Ross, Meek Mill, and possibly Wale have in store for their loyal supporters.
