Kendrick Lamar, pgLang & Free Lunch Team Up To Donate $200K To LA Charities

Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” show continues to make waves in not only music but also in various communities across Los Angeles. For the performance, the Compton-born rapper was joined by several of his peers onstage, uniting artists from different backgrounds for a truly historic night. His impact didn’t stop there, however. It was recently revealed that he, pgLang, Tim Hinshaw’s Free Lunch, and other artists teamed up for a massive donation. Reportedly, they pooled together a whopping $200K, which will go toward multiple charities and community initiatives in the LA area.

“We haven’t seen this type of Unity on the West since we lost our brother Nipsey Hussle,” Hinshaw told Billboard. “As Dot said on stage, this moment was bigger than a back and forth; it was about supporting each other and showing the world that we could come together for a greater cause. All of these organizations play a pivotal role in the development of our community and the hope is that we all continue to support them moving forward.”

Kendrick Lamar Receives Offer For 2Pac’s Replica Ring After Dissing Drake’s Purchase Of The Real Piece

Kendrick Lamar has a chance to take home a replica of one of 2Pac’s iconic rings. Maksud Agadjani, a lapidary based out of New York City, proposed selling the piece to Lamar in a video on Facebook on Monday. The offer comes after Lamar altered the lyrics to his song, “Euphoria,” during The Pop Out – Ken & Friends to add: “Give me 2Pac’s ring back and I might give you a little respect.”

“Kendrick is telling Drake to give up 2Pac’s ring,” Agadjani said while showing off the piece. “Well this is 2Pac’s ring right here — this is a replica of the original one purchased by Drake, and Kendrick’s not happy about that. Hey Kendrick, if you can’t get the ring back on your own, you can always buy this one from traxnyc.com. For all the 2Pac fans or whatever, jewelry fans, fans that are ‘Not Like Us,’ fans that are like us — whatever it might be.”

During The Pop Out – Ken & Friends, Lamar performed several of his biggest Drake diss tracks before concluding with “Not Like Us,” which he ran through an emphatic five times before departing the stage. “Y’all ain’t gonna let anyone disrespect the West Coast, huh? Oh, y’all ain’t gonna let nobody mock and imitate our legends, huh?” he asked the crowd at one point. In the days since, he took to the streets of Los Angeles with several fellow West Coast collaborators to film a music video for the single.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” Cost Roddy Ricch His Paris Fashion Week Plans

Last week, Kendrick Lamar hosted his highly anticipated “Pop Out” event at the Forum in LA, surrounded by several of his celebrity peers. YG, Tyler, The Creator, Dr. Dre, and many more made appearances. Roddy Ricch even came out to perform his hit track “The Box.” As expected, he had the whole arena jumping.

According to Roddy Ricch, however, he almost wasn’t on the lineup at all. During a recent chat with Big Boy, he revealed that he originally had other plans. Luckily, he ultimately decided to prioritize “The Pop Out,” though he had to give up Paris Fashion Week in order to do so.

Roddy Ricch Gave Up Paris Fashion Week For LA Show

“Yeah, Paris Fashion Week canceled,” he explained. “We just had plans, and I had talked to Dot. I’m like, ‘Man, I spent a lot of money in Paris already.’” Roddy Ricch says that after thinking it over for a couple of days, he decided that he simply couldn’t miss the LA show. “It’s bigger than us,” he added. “It’s a blessing to just see everybody from the different communities just being together.” While he’s surely disappointed that he had to give up PFW to perform at the historic concert, he doesn’t appear to regret his decision in the slightest. The rapper was among the first artists confirmed to be performing at the event, and made his excitement known early on.

“ITS LIKE INCOME TAX DAY IN LA TODAY!” he captioned a photo of a concert flyer the day of the show. What do you think of Roddy Ricch choosing Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” over his Paris Fashion Week plans? Did he make the right choice or not? Who was your favorite special guest at the show? DJ Akademiks Causes Uproar By Putting Drake’s “OVO Fest” Above Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out”

DJ Akademiks says that both Drake and J. Cole have been putting on festivals bigger for their respective cities in the form of OVO Fest and Dreamville Fest than Kendrick Lamar did with his acclaimed latest show, The Pop Out – Ken & Friends. He made the comments during a livestream clip he shared on social media, on Saturday.

“None of these n****s up here got a feature with Kendrick,” Akademiks began, while showing a clip from the end of The Pop Out. “And we don’t think they will ever get a feature with Kendrick. He has one concert in 15 years and brought these n****s on stage and n****s is saying he did the most.” From there, he brings up J. Cole hosting his Dreamville Festival and platforming younger artists as well as Drake doing the same with OVO Fest.

Many fans in the replies took issue with Akademiks’ take. One user wrote: “OVO Fest is not the same as the POP Out, the POP Out was West Coast honoring their identity, their fallen soldiers, and respecting each other’s differences and similarities of being the West Coast culture. It was also retaliation to a colonizer insulting their legends.” Another fan added: “Yall Drake n****s don’t know how to take an L and move on.” Check out Akademiks’ full comments on the matter below.
