Tee Morant, the father of Ja Morant, has been blamed for his son’s recent fall from grace in a new ESPN profile about Morant’s tumultuous time in the league. “Tee has been a major driving force in all of this. He never made the NBA, but this was his chance to live like he’s an NBA superstar. That’s been a problem from the beginning,” an anonymous source told the outlet while discussing what had driven Morant into such a compromising position.

However, away from his controversies, Morant has been making sure that publicly, he is seen to be turning a corner. Morant was out and about in Memphis last month, surprising some kids with an appearance at a Nike “Only Basketball” event. The Grizzlies star was on-site to hoop with the kids and give out some pairs of his Ja 1s. Furthermore, Morant had some nuggets of advice for the assembled youngsters. “Believe in yourself. You know have confidence in yourself. There’s going to be a lot of outside stuff that can distract you from your ultimate goal. Just stay locked in, tune it out, and stay true to yourself.”

It’s some interesting advice, especially given Morant’s offseason. The 25-year-old has been desperately avoiding the spotlight after the drama surrounding a livestream in which he pulled a gun. Furthermore, it was his second time pulling such a stunt this year and the NBA front office was far from impressed. Morant will start the season on a 25-game suspension, meaning the Grizzlies will be without him until at least late December.

Ja Morant’s Father Speaks On His Suspension

Tee Morant, the father of basketball player Ja Morant, recently spoke on his son’s suspension from the Grizzles. The 24-year-old’s 25-game suspension followed a couple of incidents that saw him flashing a gun on Instagram Live. He was suspended following the second offense. “Morant wielded the firearm while knowing that he was being recorded and that the recording was being live streamed on Instagram Live, despite having made commitments to the NBA and public statements that he would not repeat the conduct for which he was previously disciplined,” the NBA said of his suspension.

Many have chimed into the controversy, with some claiming that the incidents were simple mistakes. Many have also claimed that his behavior could have been influenced by those he was choosing to spend time with. Now, his own father is weighing in, and it appears as though he thinks it’s his son’s own cross to bear. He spoke on the situation at the Up Next Elite Camp in New Orleans, warning other young athletes. He advised them to be careful of the decisions they make, as they can make a lasting impact.

He continued, describing how he feels as though Ja’s mistakes were his, and his alone. “My son didn’t get in trouble for the people around him, he got in trouble for his decisions so, always be mindful of every decision y’all [are making]. Because, it could pretty much, take over you and can consume you and make you think that you’re who you’re not.”

“Any time y’all are anywhere,” he continued, “just think everything is looking at you, everything is magnified.” “The smallest thing you can do can make the biggest difference in your life,” he also notes. Ja Morant will become eligible to return to the NBA in December, after losing a third of the season and over $7.5 million.

Tee Morant Supports His Son With Special “Redemption” Hoodie

Tee Morant has been subjected to a lot of criticism as of late. Overall, this has been due to his son Ja’s actions. As we all know by now, Ja flashed a gun on Instagram Live which eventually led to his suspension from the league. Moreover, people began to point the finger at Tee, claiming that he should step up and be more of a father. These criticisms were a bit of an overreach as no one actually knows the dynamics of Tee and Ja’s relationship. However, the internet loves to talk, and that is precisely what we saw in this particular instance.

Last night, Ja Morant was able to make his grand comeback. His eight-game suspension expired on Monday, and the Grizzlies were slowly bringing him back to the lineup. Wednesday night proved to be a fruitful one for the Grizzlies as they defeated the Houston Rockets. Furthermore, Morant was able to have a solid game coming off the bench. He dropped a total of 17 points in just 24 minutes, including a beautiful poster dunk. Additionally, Tee Morant was in the building and he was definitely making a statement with his clothing.

In the Twitter post up above, you can see that Tee was wearing a hoodie that read “Redemption.” The shirt also depicted Ja Morant dapping up Tee courtside. Overall, it was a nice message that showcases what Ja is trying to accomplish right now. In many ways, he feels as though he has let down the franchise and the fanbase. Although, he is now being given a chance to redeem himself. This is especially true now that the playoffs are here.

As it stands, the Grizzlies are second in the Western Conference. If the playoffs were to begin today, then the team would end up playing the Minnesota Timberwolves, who they played against last year. The young Memphis Grizzlies star has been at the center of controversy, first after reports of an altercation with a 17-year-old. The incident reportedly occurred during a pick-up game. Reports stated Morant assaulted the teen and displayed a firearm. Later, the 23-year-old was hit with more trouble after he showed off a gun while on Livestream.

Sports commentators have been dishing out advice to Morant. Shaquille O’Neal, Shannon Sharpe, and Stephen A. Smith have all taken to their platforms to address the ongoing scandal. Others have claimed Morant has put the future of his NBA career in jeopardy in order to look tough. Fat Joe chimed into the conversation, and he had quite a bit to say about Ja’s father, Tee Morant.

“Ja Morant always got his father there. Instead of his father enjoying the scene and getting drunk at the game, he better school his son,” said Joe. Tee Morant is often seen at games enjoying himself, and the rapper thinks he’s a negative influence. Tee and Shannon Sharpe recently had a tense confrontation at a basketball game. They were able to lay their differences aside.

Like others, Fat Joe also delivered words of guidance to Ja. “Bro, you did not come this far to f*ck your sh*t up. Your family has to really be your family and talk to you. I hope somebody gets him a copy of this because I don’t make money off Ja Morant. I’m just telling you the truth.”

Joe also advised against the ‘keeping to real’ persona. He calls it “the dumbest shit I ever heard in my life,” warning that this path leads to being broke and jobless. “I don’t care how nice he is, he will be playing in Serbia-Montenegro. Stephen A. Smith Has A Message For Ja Morant And His Father

Stephen A. Smith is someone who always tries to tell it like it is, no matter what the circumstances are. If you have been paying attention to the NBA as of late, you know that the latest discourse is centered around Ja Morant. Overall, this is due to his recent behavior. For instance, he was recently seen waving a gun on Instagram live. Furthermore, he has been hit with a bevy of allegations that could very well derail his young career. Needless to say, Morant needs to take a deep breath and figure himself out before stepping on the court again.

The Grizzlies have subsequently suspended Ja Morant indefinitely. As for Stephen A., he has been tasked with speaking on Morant. Over the weekend, Smith laid out the fact for Ja, noting that the NBA has people watching their players’ every move. Smith even claims that the NBA has ties to the FBI and that they will catch you if you step out of line. It was an ominous sort of warning, although it is one that many players need to hear. Today on First Take, however, Smith had a direct message for Tee Morant, Ja’s father.

You’re his dad.” This is a very poignant message that could very well go a long way. In fact, it is a sentiment that Shannon Sharpe also shared.

As for the FBI stuff, Smith reiterated his position on First Take this morning. He made it clear that Morant needs to be careful, and that the NBA took a similar approach with Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson back in the day. DaBaby Hangs With Ja Morant’s Dad Courtside

It certainly seems like it’s been a while since DaBaby has been in the headlines for good reasons. The rapper has been relatively quiet following his controversial comments at Rolling Loud in 2021.

Regardless, it appears as though the 31-year-old is still enjoying life. On Wednesday night (January 4), he was sitting courtside with Ja Morant’s dad, Tee.

In the entertaining footage, the unexpected duo are soaking in some live basketball action between Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies and the “ROCKSTAR” rapper’s team, the Charlotte Hornets.

“I got OG in here tonight. In cahoots with the refs. This my dawg right here, man. It’s up right here, you see what I’m sayin’? I got him in here tonight, I’m puttin’ pressure on these boys, man. I got Melo for 12,” boasts DaBaby.

“The refs out here acting like we playing in Memphis. Don’t put me out about it, but the refs acting like we playing in motherf*ckin’ Memphis,” he continues afterwards.

Unfortunately for DaBaby, the Grizzlies easily took down the Hornets with a final score of 131-107. Morant led the team to victory through his 23 points and eight assists, further improving their record to 24-13 on the season.

In other news surrounding the rapper, his most recent album, Baby On Baby 2, majorly undersold. According to reports, the project only sold 17,200 units in its first week. Comparatively, Baby On Baby, sold 124,000 units.

He subsequently took to his social media accounts to air out his frustration, claiming he’s being blackballed.
