Drake Says Lil Yachty Made “For All The Dogs” What It Is

Drake finally unveiled his eagerly-anticipated new album last week, For All The Dogs. As expected, the project is jam-packed with high-profile features from the likes of J. Cole, SZA, Sexyy Red, and even the Canadian hitmaker’s 5-year-old son, Adonis. Of course, the album also includes a feature from Lil Yachty on “Another Late Night.” The duo stars in a far-out, Cole Bennett-directed accompanying music video for the mellow track.

During an episode of Drake’s new show Table For One ahead of the release, he gave Lil Yachty a call. They chatted about Yachty’s contributions to the album, and Drake described how much the 26-year-old impacted his creative process. “I don’t think this album is what it is if I don’t get to run everything by you,” he told him. “If I don’t get to sit in the studio and write with you, and think with you, and if you don’t send me beats, and if you don’t tell me what you believe in or don’t believe in.”

Drake On Lil Yachty’s Influence On For All The Dogs

Drake went on to share some words of wisdom with listeners, emphasizing how crucial it is to have people in your life that will tell you the truth, whether it’s good or bad. “The realest sh*t you can get is somebody that cares about you enough to tell you their real opinion,” he explained. Lil Yachty is credited on five different songs on For All The Dogs.

Fans are split when it comes to Lil Yachty’s influence on Drake. Some are calling for them to put out a joint album sometime in the near future, while others think they should avoid working together completely. Drake Says He’s “Not Going To Make Music” For A Little Bit To Focus On His Health

With the release of For All The Dogs, it seems like Drake might be preparing to slow down on music. The Canadian rapper’s been on a prolific run since 2021, releasing four albums in a little over two years. Add to the fact that Drake has been on tour all summer, we can imagine that the rapper needs some time to unwind. During his recent episode of Table For One, Drake revealed that he would be stepping back from music.

Drizzy explained that he’s faced some health issues over the past few years. “I’ll probably not going to make music for a little bit, I’mma be real with you. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost,” he said. He explained that he’s had issues with his stomach that he needs to focus on. “I need to get right, I have a lot of other things I would love to focus on so I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit,” he added. “I don’t know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or something. Maybe a little bit longer.

Drake Will Take A Step Back From Music

It seems as though Drake has been thinking about taking a break from music for a while. Earlier this year, the rapper sat down with Lil Yachty and explained that he’s pondered the idea of a “graceful exit.” “Well, I think like on a broader scale, I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna, like—I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day—but I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit,” he explained.

He added that he’d continue to pop up and perform here and there but he wouldn’t force himself to compete. Most recently, he teased his fans when performing in Miami and declared that he’d be stepping away from music before telling them that he’s “just playin’.” Regardless, it seems as though Drake needs to shift his focus for a bit and we can’t blame him. Drake will celebrate his upcoming album, For All The Dogs, hours before its worldwide release during a new episode of his SiriusXM series, Table For One. The new episode will air live on Drake’s Sound 42 channel this Thursday (October 5) at 9pm ET on SiriusXM.

For those who want to catch it again or can’t tune in live, the entire episode will be available to stream anytime on the SiriusXM app and web player after its debut and will replay on Sound 42 during the times below.

Initially scheduled to come out last summer, For All The Dogs marks Drake’s first full-length project since Her Loss (2022), his collaboration with 21 Savage. The rap legend shared he postponed the original release in order to finish his It’s All a Blue tour.

The long-awaited album is tied to Drake’s first poetry book, Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, released last June. While he has yet to announce the For All The Dogs tracklist, he did reveal that longtime collaborator Nicki Minaj will appear on it and that his son, Adonis, created the album art.

For All The Dogs was originally slated to release over the summer, but Drake delayed it back in September. He explained that he was too busy with the It’s All A Blur Tour and would have to cancel dates to get it out on time. “Okay, my dilemma I am faced with is either cancel shows to finish the album or I complete the mission and drop the album before the last show,” Drake wrote in a statement on his Instagram page at the time. “I owe you all these memories we are building, and anywhere we have missed to date, we will be spinning back for sure.” He has two back to back shows in place for Friday and Saturday in his hometown of Toronto.

Will Drake’s ‘For All The Dogs’ Get Delayed Again?

For month’s “Slime You Out,” rapper Drake has steadily built the buzz around his forthcoming solo album, For All The Dogs. On Saturday, July 22, the official rollout of the upcoming release began when Drake was photographed outside his hotel wearing a dog mask. Since then, he has kept his fans in the loop for each significant milestone surrounding the body of work.

Initially, supporters were led to believe that For All The Dogs would hit streaming platforms on August 25. However, during his It’s All A Blur Tour stop in Seattle, Washington, Drake told fans that he had finished the final touches. So, will the album get delayed again? Based on his latest Instagram post, Drake appears ready to go.

Yesterday (October 2), Drake uploaded a graphic to reveal that another taste of the project would be unveiled soon. “TABLE FOR ONE on SOUND 42 @siriusxm Thursday at 9 p.m. EST 🐩,” wrote Drake. Seemingly, it appears that his next single, titled “Table For One,” will be premiered on his specially curated radio show.

Through his colorful hair accessories interlocked into his braids, Drake suggested that on September 22, For All The Dogs would be made public. However, that turned out to be another misdirection. But, according to Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, and fellow rapper Lil Yachty, the wait will ultimately be worth it.

Drake Discusses Reinventing Radio With Sound 42

Ahead of his performances at the Apollo Theater, last weekend, Drake spoke with GQ about reinventing radio with Sound 42. SiriusXM, which presented the New York City concerts, also broadcasts the station.

“It’s something that Scott [Greenstein] from SiriusXM was extremely passionate about from the inception of our partnership,” Drake told the outlet. “He’s been so supportive with us as far as Sound 42 goes. And Sirius offers us the opportunity to be heard far and wide, right? Sirius is just the closest thing we have to those days of glory radio moments and I still get a massive amount of joy premiering music when I know that everyone is listening at the same time.”

Further discussing the endeavor, Drake constantly praises his OVO co-founder Oliver El-Khatib. El-Khatib hosts OVO Sound Radio, which began with Apple Music back in 2015.

“Me and Oliver–and everyone else that has a show on the station–we’re just so passionate about music that to have that platform for us to play what we love or–what we make or just things that we’d like people to know about–it’s been such a great experience for us,” Drake said. “And I think it came in two parts: a station that obviously if you have satellite radio you can experience but even initially in the partnership we talked about making it more tangible at some point and I think that’s what Apollo was. Gathering what felt like, almost like a friends and family rehearsal for an arena tour. You know we used to do those back in the day.”

In addition to OVO Sound Radio, Drake also hosts his own show on the station, Table For One. He recently interviewed his Her Loss collaborator, 21 Savage, on the program.

Drake Is Already Discussing Post-‘Honestly, Nevermind’ Projects, Including A New ‘Scary Hours’ And A Poetry Book

Drake has been busy over the past 24 hours, most notably with the announcement and then quick release of his new album, Honestly, Nevermind, as well as a video for “Falling Back.” That’s not all, though, as last night also saw the premiere episode of Table For One, his new radio show on SiriusXM.

The episode aired at 11 p.m. ET, just before the release of Honestly, Nevermind. On the show, though, he was already talking about what’s coming next, saying, “Me and Kenzo have a book coming out this year. Yeah, we have a book coming out this year, a poetry book. So I hope you guys tune into that, too, because that’s going to be some sh*t.”

Immediately after that, he made another reveal, adding, “I got another Scary Hours pack coming, too, in a little bit. Maybe not, like [laughs]… maybe not right now; I need you to just take this [Honestly, Nevermind] in right now. But I have a Scary Hours, I’m gonna slap some head tops off with a Scary Hours pack.”

He also spoke about Honestly, Nevermind, saying, “I’m about to play you an album that means the world to me. It took us about six, seven months to make, maybe. Something that I always wanted to do. I don’t really want to over-explain it, I just want to play it because it’s just a bunch of music that I love.”
