Watch The Trailer For Donald Glover’s New Series “Swarm”

Donald Glover’s come a long way since his days on Community. His musical ventures have been a massive success that has turned him into one of the most celebrated artists today. However, it’s his ventures in film and television that have turned him into an undeniable force in pop culture. Atlanta had us glued to our television screens weekly for four excellent seasons. Unfortunately, his hit television program came to an end in 2022.

The brilliance of Atlanta was that it captured the realities of the city for aspiring artists. Glover evidently understood this hustle well as an artist himself. However, he recently announced Swarm, which he described as a sister series to Atlanta that follows the story of an obsessed fan who follows their favorite artist across the country. Fans have been anticipating the next move from Glover, which finally received an official trailer this week.

Watch The Trailer For “Swarm” Co-Created By Donald Glover

Following the debut of a brief teaser two weeks ago, Prime Video formally shared the official trailer for Swarm this morning. The clip follows Dre as she dives deeper into her fandom of a music star that bears many similarities to Beyoncé. “She is not like everybody else,” the narrator says in the trailer. “She knows what we’re thinking and she gives it a name. She’s a goddess.” Elsewhere, they describe Dre as being a “killer bee” that’s “part of a swarm.” The trailer showcases glimpses of Dre’s cross-country trek to see her favorite artist in concert.

Swarm is co-created by Donald Glover and Janine Nabers, who serves as the showrunner on the series and served as a writer on Atlanta. The show boasts an impeccable cast including Dominique Fishback as Dre, Chloe Bailey as her sister, Marissa, and Snowfall star Damson Idris as Marissa’s boyfriend. Additionally, the show will include cameos from Rickey Thompson, Paris Jackson, Rory Culkin, Byron Bowers, and Kiersey Clemons. However, there roles have yet to be disclosed publicly. Not to mention that Malia Obama also wrote on the show. Swarm drops in its entirety on March 17th on Prime Video. Check the trailer above.

Donald Glover’s ‘Swarm’ Trailer Looks Like A Cautionary Tale About Beyhive-Style Fandom

Atlanta ended only last year, but Donald Glover is already back with a new show. Created by Janine Nabers and Glover, Swarm follows Dre (played by Dominique Fishback), a fan of the world’s biggest pop star — who definitely isn’t Beyoncé — and how her obsession takes a dark turn.

You can watch the stressful trailer above.

“We just thought it’d be fun to make a post-truth Piano Teacher mixed with The King of Comedy,” Glover told Vanity Fair about Swarm, referring to the 2001 Michaele Haneke and 1982 Martin Scorsese movies, respectfully. Nabors added that “we were really interested in creating an anti-hero story,” like the ones seen on Mad Men and Breaking Bad, but “through the lens of a Black, modern-day woman.”

Glover compared Fishback to Isabelle Huppert, “as far [as] risk-takers in performances.” While shooting the final scene in the pilot, “every single person stopped what they were doing and gave Dom a standing ovation for three minutes,” Nabors said. “I’ve been doing TV for a long time and I’ve never seen that. That was the moment that Donald and I looked at each other and we were like, all right — we got something right.”

Swarm premieres on Amazon Prime Video on March 17.

Ice Spice Swarmed By Brooklyn Crowd

Ice Spice just faced a massive crowd swarming her in Brooklyn in what appears to be a nightclub space. While the video circling around social media is quite unclear, you can hear her track “In Ha Mood” playing in the background. As such, many assume that this took place at a club where they invited her to appear for a brief moment. However, clearly things got out of control, as she had to push people off her. When people rushed to the main area, the DJ asked everyone to back up and stopped the music. Amid frustrated shouts and screams from the crowd, it seems there were just too many people.

Furthermore, many in the comments pointed out that this could’ve become a scary situation quite quickly. “That’s dead ass scary af,” one user wrote, with another adding “Tf was security doing.” Also, a few people took the chance to aim some shots at the venue or crowd itself. For example, an Instagram user commented, “They got Princess Diana in the ghetto.” Another expressed with concern, “Oh NAUR not with this cute hairstyle! Somebody get my girl up out of there !” While a lot of people lamented the fact she dealt with this, others acknowledged that she’s just so beloved right now. “Sis is that girl right now, got the ppl goin crazy,” another fan posted. “I love that for her! Time to get a little more selective booking these gigs.”

Meanwhile, recent news concerning a hosting gig pointed to other issues with nightclubs, events, and promoters. Fans in Oakland recently threw water all over GloRilla for not performing, but rather just showing up to a club event. However, her and her team maintained that they only received payment for a hosting gig, not the full performance. A back and forth ensued on social media, with the promoter claiming they agreed to a performance for $30K. Regardless, the conversation quickly shifted to that amount not being enough for a performance in the first place.

Still, hopefully the “Bikini Bottom” sensation wasn’t hurt or too shaken up by the ordeal. It is true that she’s incredibly dominant right now, making a lot of buzz equally for her music as for her industry movement. However, no amount of success should make you uncomfortable or unsafe in a public setting. Especially when there’s money, drinks, and wild Brooklyn fans involved. Let us know what you think of this ordeal in the comments and return to HNHH for the latest on Ice Spice.

Donald Glover Delivers Teaser For BeyHive-Inspired Series “Swarm”

Fandom is a topic that can create fear in some, but Donald Glover is capitalizing on the craze. The entertainment industry often takes advantage of its die-hard fans—or “Stans,” thanks to Eminem. In music, artists have fanbases with their own names, and often, they will battle each other over who is the best. It’s simple to search through social media to find an obsessed fan who takes things too far. In Swarm, Glover dramatizes an often frightening concept.

Today (February 10), a sneak peek into Swarm has been released. The film stars the likes of Chlöe, Damson Idris, and Dominique Fishback, and the teaser hints at this being a captivating thriller. “We just thought it’d be fun to make a post-truth Piano Teacher mixed with The King of Comedy,” Glover shared with Vanity Fair. This referenced Michael Haneke’s 2001 drama and Martin Scorsese’s 1982 classic.

Fishback’s character Dre is a young woman who becomes obsessed with a certain superstar. Chlöe plays her sister, while Idris portrays her boyfriend. Glover admitted that initially, he had Fishback in mind for Chlöe’s role, but the actress asked for an opportunity to stretch herself. The request was granted, the rest is history.

Glover reunited with Atlanta writer and producer Janine Nabers for Swarm, and she detailed the evolution of the creative direction. “We were really interested in creating an antihero story,” said Nabers. “When we shot the last scene of the pilot, every single person stopped what they were doing and gave [Fishback] a standing ovation for three minutes. I’ve been doing TV for a long time and I’ve never seen that. That was the moment that Donald and I looked at each other and we were like, ‘All right—we got something right.’”

Meanwhile, when Glover is expanding his television and film careers, he’s in the studio working on new music. It was once thought that Childish Gambino was gone for good, but Glover has had a change of heart. He recently shared that he has been recording, and fans are eager to hear what he has in store. Watch the teaser for Swarm above, and let us know if you’re excited about this series. It will air on Prime Video this year.

Donald Glover Shares 1st Look At His Beyoncé-Inspired Amazon Series

Donald Glover has shared a first-look image from his upcoming Amazon series, Swarm, which takes inspiration from Beyoncé. The show will follow a young girl obsessed with a fictional pop star and detail the “dark, unexpected places” that fandom takes her.

Glover discussed the highly-anticipated show during an interview with Vanity Fair.

“We just thought it’d be fun to make a post-truth Piano Teacher mixed with The King of Comedy,” Glover said. “Me and my brother Stephen were talking about finding someone like Isabelle Huppert, as far as risk-takers in performances.”

As for the cast, Chloe Bailey will star while Damson Idris plays the role of her boyfriend.

“A lot of people did it out of the kindness of their hearts and they did a really great job,” Glover said, before adding, “Dom, Damson, Chloe. I was really blown away at how hard they worked on the tone, ’cause it’s a strange one.”

Swarm co-creator Janine Nabers further described the show as feeling like “a sister to Atlanta.” He also says it lives in “the same tonal space.”

Regarding the writers, Barack and Michelle Obama’s daughter, Malia, was on the team. Nabers has nothing but praise after working with the former President’s daughter.

“Dre and Marissa are in their 20s and Malia is in her 20s, so it was really great having someone like her in the room,” Nabers said. “She’s a very professional person. She’s an incredible writer and artist. We really wanted to give her the opportunity to get her feet wet in TV and see if this is something she wants to continue doing.”

Amazon has yet to announce a release date for the series. Until then, check out a first look at Donald Glover’s new series, Swarm, below.
