Who Are The Music Performers For Super Bowl LVII?

Arguably one of the biggest nights of the year, Super Bowl LVII, will be hitting television screens on February 12. The annual sporting event, which will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, typically draws millions of viewers yearly. 2023 will be no different. This year, Rihanna will join legendary performers — artists like Beyonce, Prince, and Michael Jackson — when she takes the stage for the Super Bowl halftime show.

The “Lift Me Up” singer made the announcement on social media this past September, sharing a pic of herself holding a football. Recently, the new mother dropped a teaser trailer of her upcoming performance, only amping up the anticipation.

Ri also dropped a limited edition Super Bowl-themed collection with her Savage X Fenty lingerie company earlier this month. The “Game Day” collection will feature 17 sporty styles, including varsity jerseys, hoodies, sweatpants, and more.

But before the billionaire singer takes the stage, several other acts are expected to appear. Country star Chris Stapleton will be opening the show with a rendition of the national anthem. Emmy award-winning Abbot Elementary actress Sherly Lee Ralph is expected to sing the Black national anthem, “Lift Every Voice.”

The lineup doesn’t stop there. Iconic producer, singer, and songwriter Babyface will be singing “America the Beautiful” at the ceremony.

Super Bowl LVII premieres Sunday, February 12, with kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET

Chris Stapleton Is Set To Perform At Super Bowl LVII’s Pre-Game Events With Babyface And Sheryl Lee Ralph

Future football Hall of Famer Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be out of the runnings, but that hasn’t slowed down the hype around Super Bowl LVII. The teams playing in the final game are still unknown at this time, with four teams still fighting it out in their respective conference championships. However, at this moment, what we do know is this year’s featured entertainment.

Last year’s halftime show featured an all-star medley performance by rappers Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent alongside singer Mary J. Blige, and producer Dr. Dre featuring their chart-topping hits. This year, Oscar-nominated singer Rihanna is slated to up the mantle. The “Lift Me Up” singer has remained tight-lipped about her upcoming set, leaving fans to speculate what she has up her sleeve.

Now, further details are being released about this year’s pre-game festivities. The national anthem (“The Star-Spangled Banner”) will be sung by country music star Chris Stapleton.

Legendary R&B singer and producer Babyface will sing “America the Beautiful,” while multi-hyphenated Emmy Award-winning actress and singer Sheryl Lee Ralph will sing the Black National Anthem (“Lift Every Voice and Sing”).

Super Bowl LVII will take place on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Missy Elliott Teases A Love Triangle With Jack Harlow In A New Doritos Teaser Ahead Of The Super Bowl

We are just weeks away from Super Bowl LVII, and while the game is a thrill in and of itself, fans look equally forward to the star-studded commercials. Over the past few weeks Doritos has teased a scandalous love triangle-themed spot with Jack Harlow. Now, it seems like hip-hop icon Missy Elliott is joining in on the fun.

In the clip, Elliott answers a phone call from the “First Class” hitmaker himself.

“What’s up? Collab? You know I’ve been waiting to collab,” she says on the phone.

Shortly after, Elliott looks puzzled.

“A love triangle?” Elliott says. “I don’t know about that.”

Though Harlow himself is neither seen nor heard during the sneak preview, Elliott’s reactions say it all. At the end of the clip, the screen reads “2.12.2023,” suggesting that both stars will appear in the Doritos ad set to air during the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl LVII will take place on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Kick-off will begin at 6:30 EST and the game will broadcast on Fox.

You can check out the sneak peek of the Doritos spot above.

Jack Harlow and Missy Elliott are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

A$AP Rocky Is More Excited For Rihanna’s Halftime Show Than Fans

The chatter about this year’s Super Bowl halftime show increases as we inch closer to Rihanna’s huge performance. The singer has been keenly focused on growing her Fenty brand into the billions. Despite the pushback she’s received for the delay in her next album, her fans are still excited about each new venture. A$AP Rocky recently spoke about the singer’s upcoming display and looks forward to the finished product.

“Oh, man. I’m just as excited as you guys, if not more,” Rocky told Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1. “Yeah, I’m super excited. This is as huge. This is incredible. I’m so glad that my lady’s back making music again and whatnot, and getting back out there.”

“It’s just incredible. Especially for both of us, it is a good year for both of us to be more active and be out there,” he also shared. “But the Super Bowl is huge, and her being the creative she is she going to bring it, man. I’m excited. I’m more excited than everybody else, honestly.”

Rocky and Rihanna welcome their baby boy in May 2022, and according to the rapper, fatherhood has significantly changed his life.

“It’s so unexplainable. It’s just one of those things. I’m a member of our club now, like the dad club,” Rocky said. “You see a dad, you see me. I’m playing on, I’m a full dad now. Being outside and working and being creative, it drives more energy for you, to obviously, to think and soak things up like a sponge now that I’m a dad, because I have a whole nother perspective.”

The couple has shared few images of their little one with the public. With two high-profile parents, the baby will need all the privacy he can get in his early years. Additionally, this new “perspective” Rocky speaks of has its benefits.

“But it honestly helps you get home to your family and get home to your baby,” he further stated. “And I can’t even explain it, man. You come home to heaven every day. I’m so thankful. God is good, man.”

Stephen A. Smith Is Now Bringing His Trash Takes To The Music World, Apparently

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is well-known for his controversial sports opinions — you could say he’s made his career on them. But perhaps out of habit, he just made a comparison that’ll have a whole new group of fans fighting mad at him.

The outspoken First Take host appeared on the daytime talk show Sherri, where he was asked about Rihanna’s upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show — it’s technically in his wheelhouse and gives the audience some common footing with him, so not a bad question, all told.

But his “first take” made an age-old comparison that isn’t likely to endear him to the daytime talk crowd, or to fans of the two artists he contrasted. “I don’t wanna say I’m not excited,” he said. “She’s fantastic. That’s not where I’m going with this. Ladies and gentlemen, she’s a lot of things. She’s spectacular, actually. And congratulations on new-momma-hood. There’s one thing she’s not. She ain’t Beyoncé.”

The two singers have been pitted against each other for years but doing so has become something of a sore spot. Unfortunately, Smith’s entire job more or less consists of comparing athletes to each other, so when he was potentially out of his depth (name one Rihanna song, album, or feature without Google, Stephen!) he fell back on what he knows.

Although, in his mind, he apparently had a good reason for doing so. “The only reason I brought up Beyoncé is because Beyoncé recently performed at the Super Bowl, with and without Bruno Mars and Coldplay,” he explained. “Rihanna’s music is fantastic. She’s great. She’s a sister. I love her dearly. I listen to her music. I’m gonna support her until the cows come home. I’m just telling you: for me, there’s Beyoncé and there’s everybody else. Just like there was Michael Jackson and there’s everybody else.”

Hey look, whatever floats your boat. But a word of advice for Smith: Kobe fans may drive to featureless California towns to fight you, but the Navy (and the Hive) never forgets. Turn off your notifications now.

Stephen A. Smith Talks Halftime Show: Rihanna “Ain’t Beyoncé”

The Navy is fired up this morning after hearing what Stephen A. Smith had to say about Rihanna. We’re less than one month away from Super Bowl LVII, which will also host a performance by the icon. People have speculated what the Fenty billionaire will bring to the stage, and Smith weighed in during a recent interview. His comments quickly spread like wildfire.

While on Sherri, Smith was asked if he was excited about the halftime show. “I don’t want to say I’m not excited,” said Smith. “She’s fantastic. That’s not where I’m going with this.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, she’s a lot of things,” Smith continued as he referenced Rihanna. “She’s spectacular, actually. And congratulations on new mamahood.” The audience was co-signing the compliments before Smith shook things up.

“There’s one thing she’s not: she ain’t Beyoncé,” the commentator added to an audibly shocked crowd. Sherri Shepherd jumped in to praise Rihanna’s talents.

“The only reason I brought up Beyoncé is because Beyoncé recently performed at the Super Bowl,” he replied. “And without Bruno Mars and Coldplay.”

As the audience’s reaction almost overpowered the conversation, Shepherd also said this was Rihanna’s time, not Bey’s.

Rihanna’s coming back, she’s got that extra oomph of motherhood. I like Rihanna!” said the talk show host.

Smith was unmoved. “I like television, I like a lotta talent out there. There’s some spectacular females in television, I just wanna say that. Everybody ain’t Sherri. That’s not throwing shade on them! That’s appreciating their greatness but understanding there’s levels.”

Jack Harlow’s Love Life Is The Center Of Doritos’ Super Bowl Ad

Jack Harlow will star in the newest commercial for Doritos that is set to air during Super Bowl LVII on February 12. The company shared a teaser for the ad, titled The Love Triangle, earlier this week.

In the short video, Harlow hops into a limo as paparazzi accost him with questions about his love life.

“Is it true about the love triangle?” a reporter asks Harlow in the clip.

He responds, “Maybe.”

As for Harlow’s actually love life, he was recently linked to Dua Lipa after the two met in person at Variety’s Hitmakers event in Los Angeles, last month. The rapper first interacted with Lipa when getting her consent to include a song about her on his latest album, Come Home The Kids Miss You.

Harlow spoke about getting her blessing for the track during an interview with Sirius XM.

“I hit her up and wanted to get her blessing,” Harlow said, before adding, “I played it over FaceTime. I wanted to be respectful and her not be blindsided by it. She was so confused, she was like, ‘What the hell?’ It was clearly a first but she gave me her blessing.

He added: “She said it was totally fine with her. She was very sweet.”

Super Bowl LVII is scheduled for February 12 and will be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Harlow isn’t the only rapper set to appear in a Super Bowl commercial this year. Cardi B and Offset are also reportedly starring in a McDonald’s ad.
