Rising rap star Yeat has released the official music video for “GO2WORK,” featuring Summrs, a standout track from his fifth studio album LYFESTYLE. The video, directed by Jack Rottier and Alex Edep, brings the two collaborators back together, switching between scenes of the duo rapping seamlessly and working at a 7-Eleven-style convenience store.

The release of the video was teased with clever marketing across Los Angeles, where bench ads featuring the phone number 1-800-GO2-WORK appeared, offering help for those “still broke?” or “in need of a job?” This playful promotion built anticipation for the visual, highlighting the track’s quirky energy.

LYFESTYLE, which dropped just last week, has already seen massive success. It debuted at #1 on Spotify’s Top Album Debut chart globally and in the U.S., with two tracks landing on the Top Songs Debut USA chart. The album is currently charting in over 100 countries on Apple Music, further cementing Yeat’s status as a significant force in modern rap.

The video’s release comes just after a high-profile performance, where Yeat joined Don Toliver on stage at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles to perform their new track for a sold-out crowd.

This year continues to be a breakout moment for Yeat, following the release of 2093 in February, which became his fourth album to land in the Top 10 within just two years. His previous albums include Lyfë (No. 10 in 2022), 2 Alivë (No. 6 in 2022), AftërLyfe (No. 4 in 2023), and 2093 (No. 2 in 2024). LYFESTYLE adds to his growing legacy, showcasing his unique style and cementing his place in the rap game.

Summrs Drops Energetic “You Mind?” Ahead Of New Album

Summrs is an emerging rapper and singer from Lafayette, Louisiana. He debuted in 2017 as part of the boom in SoundCloud’s underground rap scene, but he did not ascend as quickly as some of his contemporaries. He did, however, emerge as a key figure in the “plugg” subgenre, a style of music that blends ethereal, often spacey beats with melodic flows and lyrics that range from introspective to bashful. That style eventually spun off into rage music, which is the sound that Playboi Carti and many of the rappers signed to his Opium label are currently at the forefront of creating.

Summrs continues to release music prolifically despite not quite catching on in the same way that other SoundCloud success stories did (which is not to say that he’s done poorly, as he still has over a million monthly listeners on Spotify), coming out with the prequel project B4DARAVEN in April, his tenth overall. Following this, he released the single “You Mind?” on September 26. The new track is a teaser for his upcoming fifth studio album, TALE OF DA RAVEN, which is set for a 2024 release. It’s a trademark Summrs release, with production that fans may closely associate with someone like Destroy Lonely. Summrs himself takes inspiration from NBA Youngboy, Chief Keef, and others. The Youngboy influence is particularly noticeable on this track, delivering his braggodocious verse similarly emphatically to many Youngboy verses. It’s a quick, energetic track that’ll sound good in a party setting. Check it out.

Summrs Delivers The Final Precursing EP Before Album With “NIGHTFALL”

Lafayette, Louisiana’s melodic rap specialist Summrs is once again not ready to dive head first into his new album. Some hope was shown after the release of his most recent single “Marble Floors” and a post surrounding it on his Instagram. Also contributing to that, was when the 24-year-old put out his foreshadowing EP, B4DARAVEN. That title alone would have anyone believing that TALE OF DA RAVEN would be next to follow after both of those releases. However, that is not the case, as Summrs is back with one more precursing EP called NIGHTFALL. This new set of songs is one track shorter than B4DARAVEN, sitting at six in total. On this extended play, the new fan-favorite “Marble Floors” serves as the lead single.

However, out of all of the other drops over the last few months, that is the only one that makes the cut. It will be interesting to see what records make TALE OF DA RAVEN. Hopefully, none of the material on these EPs weave their way into collection, as that would obviously kill the hype factor going into the ensuing first listen. Speaking of which, Summrs fans will be able to spin the album on September 20, according to Genius. That date seems pretty concrete considering all of the music we have gotten from him. It seems that the MC’s plan with these tapes is to give his listeners an idea of what the LP will sound like. Based on what we have heard, Summrs will most likely include his signature pluggnb style, along with some rage and psychedelic soundscapes, too. NIGHTFALL is giving off that vibe to us especially on the “Nightfall Outro”. However, we will just have to wait and see, but for now, stream NIGHTFALL with the links below.

Summrs Is Living In The Lap Of Luxury On “Marble Floors”

The pluggnb sensation hailing from Louisiana, Summrs, is back with “Marble Floors”, another single from his upcoming album. Viewed as a pioneer of this trap/R&B sounding subgenre, the Lafayette native has fans ready for what is in store for the near future. To tide fans over before the full-length, Summrs put out the pre-cursor EP, B4DARAVEN, back in April. This is an extension of his 2022 project FALLEN RAVEN, and pretty soon, the third entry will be here to complete the trilogy. TALE OF DA RAVEN is the name of it, and currently, there is a loose expectation that listeners will get a hold of the LP by the end of July.

However, the information, provided by Genius, is unreviewed at the moment. That adds up because even though Summrs continues to tease the album on social media, he keeps saying soon. Who knows when TALE OF DA RAVEN will land. But in the meantime, he is here to continue to hold fans over with “Marble Floors”. This extravagant-sounding track, thanks to the elegant piano melodies on the first and second halves, is a fun change of pace. While the lyrical content is nothing too new, his braggadocious bars do fit the energy of “Marble Floors”.

Summrs Previews Next Album With Fiery Banger “Nobody Knows”

Prolific Lafayette, Louisiana rapper Summrs is gearing up for another new album and it is coming very soon. In fact, fans of the MC will not have to wait too much longer, as TALE OF DA RAVEN should be dropping at some point in July. The veteran already came through with a precursor to this forthcoming LP called B4DARAVEN. It boasted just seven songs and spanned just under 19 minutes. It seems that Summrs is going to give more of what the fans want on the sequel, as “nobody knows” is already gaining traction.

Working in elements of New Orleans bounce, Southern hip-hop, and trap, Summrs is bringing an ominous vibe overall on “nobody knows”. He is also paying homage to Yeat a little bit on this track, especially with his cadence and some of the elements in the instrumental. On this two-and-a-half-minute banger, Summrs is talking violence, money, and street talk. “N**** know that we up / Play with that green, I’m a money machine / My n**** my money is knowin’, my money is up“. If “nobody knows” is the sound of TALE OF DA RAVEN, then everyone is in for a hell of a good time.

Summrs Delivers A Multi-faceted Banger “Sneaky Link/Love That 4 Us”

Overall, there were not too many new albums and singles dropping this past weekend. Outside of the Metro Boomin and Future project WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU, mainstream artists remained quiet. It was a slightly more eventful week for lesser-known names, but that does not mean there was not quality to be had. Just take Summrs and his new song “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us.” For those wondering, you can find it on his new album B4DARAVEN.

This is a shorter release with just seven tracks, but fans of his do not need to panic. This will not be his only release of 2024. Word on the street is that this is just a precursor for the much longer TALE OF DA RAVEN, which still does not have a release date yet. For now though, let us discuss “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us.”

As you can see this is a two-part song and it is done pretty well. Summrs’ lyrics are nothing to write home about. But the real winner is the instrumental. The first half feels almost early Lil Uzi Vert-like with its playful and light trap beat. However, it seamlessly transforms into a guitar solo, which then leads into a slightly a funkier portion with trap elements.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “Sneaky link/Love that 4 us” by Summrs? Is this the best track from the rapper as of late, why or why not? Where do you rank this amongst the rest of the songs off of B4DARAVEN? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Summrs. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on around the music world.

Summrs “B4DaRaven” Review

Summrs is a 24-year-old MC who hails from Lafayette, Louisiana. As a member of the SoundCloud era, Summrs has been steadily releasing music since 2016, with a prolific output that has sometimes resulted in the rapper dropping multiple projects per month. His latest effort, B4DaRaven, serves as a prequel mixtape for his upcoming album Tale Of Da Raven. Summrs will release Tale Of Da Raven sometime in May. The project, which was released on April 12, runs seven tracks over the course of 18 minutes. Let’s dive into the brief tracklist of B4DaRaven and examine the material therein.

The Project Starts Strong

B4DaRaven has a strong opener with “Curbside at The Ritz,” a trap banger with pulsing 808 patterns and stabby string instruments. On the song, Summers spits a few bars, updating the public on his recent misadventures, including beating cases, cutting off fake friends, and partying with fast women. The song is a pretty standard trap outing, all things considered, but it sets the tone for B4DaRaven well enough and serves as a highlight overall.

“Made Man” continues the hot streak as the young rapper describes themes of crime and extravagance in his rhymes. On this track, Summrs’s voice is characteristically drowning in autotune, though the mixing of the track lends itself to the robotic vocal effects, making it aesthetically pleasing. The upbeat cowbell-heavy drums provide a light and airy sense of weightlessness to the track, making Summrs’s confessions sound chill and laid-back.

“B4DaRaven” Hits A Lul Fast

“Situationships” is kind of a painful listen. Summrs gives his take on a number of women, referenced by first name, and why he couldn’t make a full-time relationship work with them. This song sounds like a cheap imitation of tracks like “Mambo No. 5” or Anderson Paak’s 2018 track “Sweet Chick.” Unfortunately, this song is the first major dud on the album, but not the last.

The two-hander “Sneaky Link/Love that 4 us” is clearly designed to be a focal point of B4DaRaven, with a wailing guitar solo that separates the first leg of the track from the second in an obvious attempt at replicating the success of Kanye West’s “Devil In A New Dress.” Unfortunately, the vocal performance on this one is repetitive and redundant, and mixed like you’re hearing it through a Bluetooth speaker in a plastic bag from the inside of a high school’s stairwell. Additionally, Summrs bites Lil Uzi’s vocal style so hard on this song that Uzi could probably legally demand royalties.

The Back Half Of The Tape Loses It’s Momentum

After the one-two punch of “Situationships” and “Sneaky Link/Love that 4 us,” Summrs never truly regains his footing on the project. “Drank n Sex” is as predictable as the title would suggest while offering drowned-out autotune mixing that pales in comparison to earlier songs such as “Made Man.” “In our favor” is a rare gem that offers Summr’s insight into poverty, struggle, and the American dream. Still, the track is criminally short, and offers very little time to marinate on the ideas presented in the lyrics. The final track on the tape, “Brioni shawl collar/Catfish,” sees Summrs rapping about fashion and luxury brands in a two-hander that is much better than “Sneaky Link/Love that 4 us,” but is still too little too late to save the project at this point.

B4DaRaven certainly won’t be nominated for any Grammy Awards and likely won’t appear on many “best of 2024” lists. Still, at the end of the day, this project exists mostly to build hype for Summrs’s upcoming album. While the showings on B4DaRaven offer very little on their own, they serve as passable scraps pulled from the cutting room floor to promote the rapper’s new material.

Summrs Tides Fans Over With 7-Track Collection “B4DARAVEN”

For some reason it seems rappers from the beautiful Southern state of Louisiana have the most drive and work ethic. What we mean by that is that they are always dropping multiple projects per year. Or they have been going strong for decades, like Lil Wayne for example, and have a massive discography built up. NBA YoungBoy is the modern version of Weezy in that sense, but someone who is close to YB in that regard is Summrs. Coming up sort of around that same time, he has a much different sound than the hardcore style of NBA. He takes a more fun and vibey approach to his music and that is certainly the case on this new project in front of us.

Over the weekend, Summrs dropped off his first project of 2024 with B4DARAVEN. According to Genius, this is rumored to be a sequel to a larger album TALE OF DA RAVEN. We are still awaiting a release date on that. So, to hold people over until then, Summrs gave his supporters a seven-song tape with no features. In case you were wondering, this is now his 10th project since 2018.

There was not much of a buildup for B4DARAVEN. Apparently, Summrs announced this offering via an Instagram story on April 10, before releasing it on the 12th. For die-hard fans of Summrs, he is comparing this listening experience to his previous EP in 2021, What We Have, as well as an album from that same year, Nothing more Nothing LESS.
