Rihanna & A$AP Rocky Turn Heads During Milan Date Night, PETA Gifts Singer Faux Fur Coat

Following the birth of her son last May, many Rihanna fans expected the 35-year-old to take some time out of the spotlight to adjust to such a major life change before making a major comeback. Their predictions weren’t exactly inaccurate, though many thought that she’d be announcing the arrival of her next album before revealing another pregnancy. During her Super Bowl Halftime performance earlier this month, the singer proudly put her budding bump on display, sharing the exciting news without actually saying a word.

Her first time carrying a child saw Rihanna boldly experimenting with her style. Many of her outfits were very revealing, giving the Fenty Beauty founder a chance to hone her confidence while waiting for her firstborn. This time around she’s been a bit more conservative as far as showing skin, though we can’t deny that her “Fashion Killa” status is still intact.

PETA Puts Pressure on Rihanna

After taking some time to recover from the intense preparation that went into her return to the stage, one of the first looks we saw the Barbadian-born beauty rock was baggy jeans, a graphic tee (featuring her bump peaking out the tiniest bit), and a long fur coat. Her vibe is effortlessly “cool girl,” and while many fans think she looks fabulous, PETA is calling Rihanna out for allegedly wearing real fur. According to TMZ, senior vice president Lisa Lange wrote a letter to her team expressing concerns over her outfit.

“As a mother, you know what it’s like to feel protective and to want to make sure no harm comes to your family,” she wrote to the lingerie designer. “Please understand that this desire – this instinct even – is shared by the minks, foxes, and rabbits who are torn away from their families and killed for their fur.” The animal rights organization then asks Rihanna to consider making a pledge to stop wearing fur upon reading the letter.

Additionally, they offered to take any animal items out of her closet and donate them to those struggling in Syria and Turkey due to the recent earthquakes. Seeing as they’re requesting the Bad Gal give up a seriously stylish piece, PETA is also helping to relieve her burden by sending over a faux fur coat from Unreal Fur in an effort to make the cruelty-free switch easier on her. It’s worth noting that Rihanna has been wearing real fur for years, though she previously won an award for creating faux leather products at Fenty.

RiRi & Rocky’s Fashion Week Fits

Clearly, the “Desperado” singer isn’t letting PETA’s request bother her too much. Rather, she’s embracing the finer things in life overseas at Milan Fashion Week with her beau A$AP Rocky. Paparazzi snapped photos of the couple arriving in the country earlier this week, RiRi happily carrying her baby boy in her arms after deplaning. The Testing rapper was one of the many celebrities in attendance at the Gucci show, and following that, he and his partner stepped out for date night in Italy.

Rihanna opted to wear various shades of orange for their night on the town, including a sleek silk dress with a flirty leg slit and a darker-coloured bomber to keep her and her bump warm. Rocky donned jeans with a unique silhouette, a white tee, and a black leather jacket. Keep scrolling to see more of the inspiring outfits the expecting parents have put together at fashion week in the past.

Russell Simmons Told Tommy Hilfiger Rappers Wore His Brand “To Look Rich”

There was a time in Hip Hop history when you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing Tommy Hilfiger. The red, white, and blue striped design was worn by the who’s who of entertainment, from film and television stars to sports icons to Hip Hop and R&B’s elite. For those who lived through that Golden Era of the culture, they will recall when Aaliyah was one of the most famous faces of the brand. In a recent interview, Hilfiger discussed Russell Simmons explaining to him why his brand was so popular in Hip Hop.

“It was so powerful, like an infusion or some sort of a drip,” said Hilfiger, 71. “I was so profoundly inspired by Warhol. I started to look at things like the Rolling Stones tongue, the Nike swoosh, the Mercedes-Benz star, the Chanel Cs and the Gucci Gs [and] I knew I needed my own logo.” In the 1990s, Hilfiger became one of—if not the most—successful brands from the U.S. According to the Irish Times, these days, the brand makes more money outside of America.

Russell Simmons Enlightens Hilfiger

Hilfiger admitted that products flew off the shelves after Aaliyah posed for a Tommy Jeans ad. “The clothes were very inspired by yachting, prep schools, Ivy League, and New England,” said the designer. “Where more aristocratic privileged Americans lived and summered in Cape Cod, Nantucket and the Hamptons. It was actually Russell Simmons, who really is one of the godfathers of Hip Hop, who said to me that young street kids and rappers wanted to wear the clothes because they wanted to look rich.”

He did what any good businessman would, and he catered to his new audience. Hilfiger said he focused on street styles because Hip Hop “love sports and wanted to be sporting.” He added, “So then I started doing big logos. But they wanted everything way, way oversized, because they were buying sizes that were way too large. And so I started just making oversized, and it was a perfect storm. I was dressing Puff Daddy for his tours, I was dressing Biggie Smalls, I was dressing Tupac.”

The Fake News Scandal That Changed Tommy Hilfiger

These days, fact-checking fake news comes with a click of a button. However, in 1997, things were a bit different when it came to sharing lies about public figures. At the time, a story circulated that Hilfiger visited Oprah Winfrey’s talk show and disparaged marginalized people. He was accused of saying if he knew minority groups would love his clothing, he wouldn’t have made them so nice. It was also alleged he stated he didn’t want anyone but upper-class white people to purchase his clothing.

However, it was all a lie. The conversation and appearance never happened, but Hilfiger’s name was permanently scarred. “It was when the internet was just starting,” Hilfiger recalled. “It was devastating that people would think that I would really think that way. And I think people who know me knew that it wasn’t true. But there are so many millions of people out there who didn’t know me but had heard. You didn’t have social media then – these days, if something blows up on [the fashion watchdog] Diet Prada, there are so many comments. It couldn’t happen now.”

Dreamville’s Collaboration With Daily Paper Has Dropped

Dreamville Records has launched a new project in collaboration with Amsterdam-based fashion label Daily Paper. The resulting capsule, referred to as Dream Daily, is a seven-piece collection of university-style wear. Raeana Anaïs, the design director of Dreamville, describes the mission of this project to be “Dream Daily, and then put a plan into action to make those dreams come true.”

The record label, founded by J. Cole, has initiated another step into the fashion world with this collection. Reflecting on this new endeavor with Daily Paper, Dreamville partner Adam Roy stated, “we tell stories through music and equally they, with fashion. We’re excited about the opportunity to build something special with one of today’s foremost fashion collectives.” Daily Paper, which was created in 2008 by Abderrahmane Trabsini, Hussein Suleiman, and Jefferson Osei, is heavily inspired by the African heritage of the founders.

Dreamville X Daily Paper Pulls Inspo From The Classroom

For the release, photographer Olya Oleinic shot a yearbook-themed campaign starring “alumni” members of both Dreamville and the Daily Paper. Dream Daily is also heavily inspired by the University of Sankore, which is regarded as one of the world’s oldest educational institutions. The creative direction for Dream Daily is explained in a statement released on the fashion brand’s website: “With both brands starting their respective labels during their university years, we reimagine what a Daily Paper x Dreamville University would look like.” The brand also features a similarly styled video campaign, which also features the behind-the-scenes of the creation of Dream Daily.

Needless to say, the concept of Dream Daily emphasizes education. One of the more notable pieces from the capsule is the maroon and sandy-colored University Jacket. Featured on the jacked is an assortment of branded patches and a graphic depicting the Great Mosque of Djenné, which has both religious and cultural significance for the people of Mali. The collection also features a polo dress, a polo sweater, a coach jacket, sweatpants, a hoodie, and a t-shirt. Today (February 24th) marks the first day of Dreamville’s pop-up in NYC, located inside of the Daily Paper’s flagship store. Halle Bailey & DDG Sit Front Row At Milan Fashion Week After Battling Breakup Rumours

For several weeks now, celebrities and fashion lovers alike have been flocking to various cities all over the world to catch the countless designer runway shows taking place this season. We’ve already seen the stars take over cities like New York, Paris, and London. Now, things are unfolding in beautiful Milan, where the Gucci F/W 2023/24 collection made its debut earlier today (February 24).

The fashion show was the first designed by creative director Sabato De Sarno, who took over at the Italian house last September. The collection included several bold sheer moments, as well as dramatic fur coats, sleep businesswear, and pops of bold colour. Among those sitting in the audience to take in the runway were DDG and Halle Bailey, who have been aggressively fighting off breakup rumours this month.

DDG Claps Back at Hating Halle Bailey Fans

Though he’s across the world taking in stunning designs this week, the Michigan native still made time to put out some art of his own. His New Music Friday contribution came in the form of “Way Too Petty,” a track which breaks down his recent drama with Rubi Rose. It specifically denies her claims that Bailey was wearing her old shirt, and also includes plenty of disses for his ex.

As he continues to put his relationship problems on blast, fans of the R&B starlet are encouraging her to walk away from DDG. He obviously isn’t taking kindly to this, if his tweets are any indication. “Crazy how the world was just d*cksuckin’ my excellent boyfriend attributes and skills, but as soon as one of my obsessors try to ‘expose’ me, I’m the worse n*gga ever,” he wrote yesterday. “Y’all only do this with successful BLACK men.”

Milan Fashion Week’s Finest

Despite the world’s pleas, Bailey proved that she and the 25-year-old are still very much together during today’s Gucci runway. Looking as stunning as ever in a light pink strappy dress, the Atlanta native sat beside DDG in the venue’s front row. Paparazzi photos show that she didn’t hesitate to show her man affection, resting her head on his shoulder while he cooly looks off into the distance.

For his part, the YouTuber wore a grey utility suit with vintage Gucci monogram details. His feet were fully covered in chunky black boots, and a stack of silver chains peaked out from under his jacket. Others in attendance for the highly anticipated show include A$AP Rocky, Salma Hayek, and Julia Garner. Find more photos of Bailey and her beau at Milan Fashion Week below.

Doja Cat’s New Thirst Traps Reveal Her Devilish Side

Of the many female artists who have our attention right now, none of them have range quite like Doja Cat. The California native has frequently been known to break the internet with her antics, whether that be typing out a ridiculous tweet and pressing send or showing off her toned body in a thirst trap. In the past week, we’ve seen plenty of both from her across social media.

The Planet Her hitmaker hasn’t been putting out music as of late, though she has teased that a follow-up to her 2021 release is on the way. Rather, she’s been having fun experimenting with her look at Fashion Week and beyond while also entertaining the masses with her strange Twitter posts. Most recently, she had an unusual proposition for her followers that certainly got the internet talking.

Doja’s Online Antics

To start off her week, Doja spent her Sunday (February 19) evening online, trolling as only she can. “Does anyone wanna come over and f*ck my foot?” she publicly inquired, earning upwards of 67K likes. Of course, hundreds of replies poured in too, some of them matching the singer’s hilarious energy while others made it known that they’re on the verge of unfollowing her.

The post is certainly odd, but it’s obviously not out of character for the fashionista to share questionable content on Twitter. Since then, her posts have been equally as salacious in nature. “Trapped under a coffee table rn… Stepbro pls,” she wrote on Monday (February 20). The next day, her message of choice was “Stupidity is a sign of youth and you all look so fresh and young today. <3 Happy Tuesday idiots.”

It’s Her Planet, We’re Just Living On It

On her Instagram feed, Doja continues to capture our attention thanks to a new series of thirst traps. The shoot found her working with celebrity photographer @jpwphoto to reveal her devilish side. In front of a bold red background, the 27-year-old confidently poses in a red lingerie set complete with a heart cutout in the middle of her crotch.

She also sports red latex gloves, horns, and wings. Rather than the creative makeup looks she’s been sporting lately, Doja rocked a smokey glam beat with ultra-thin eyebrows. Check out more images below, and tell us your thoughts on the recording artist’s sultry look in the comments.

Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Baroque Brown” Rumored For 2023

Supreme x Nike collaborations are a yearly guarantee at this point. In fact, Supreme typically has two collections per year, and Nike always finds itself as a collaborator. Overall, these are two brands that run the game in their respective fields. On one hand, you have Supreme as the biggest streetwear brand in the world. Additionally, on the other hand, you have Nike as the biggest and best sportswear giant. Needless to say, it only makes sense that these two brands would always be teaming up with one another.

One of the more beloved Supreme x Nike collaborations as of late has been on the Nike Air Force 1 Low. Of course, this is one of the most iconic shoes ever and is certainly worthy of a Supreme collab. So far, we have seen three color schemes of this shoe. This includes white, black, and flax versions. Although these offerings are more than enough, fans have been wondering if more colorways would ever be released. According to Sole Retriever, the answer to that question is a resounding “yes.”

Supreme x Nike Returns?

Mockup via dropsdotgg

In the mockup above from @dropsdotgg, you can find what is being described as a “Baroque Brown” colorway. As you can see, this is one of those offerings that most certainly lives up to its name. Firstly, the entire upper appears to be covered in a dark brown suede. Secondly, the midsole has the exact same shade of brown, which gives this model a monochromatic look. Lastly, the Supreme logo is placed on the side near the back heel. Considering the Supreme insignia has that iconic red box with white lettering, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

For now, all that is really known about this colorway is that it could very well drop during the Holiday season. However, that is all that is really being reported right now. Either way, this should be very good news for those who love the Supreme x Nike offerings. Let us know your thoughts on this colorway, down in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the sneaker world.

Coi Leray’s Three Best Looks From Fashion Month So Far

Rapper Coi Leray has had a hell of a year so far. Her single “Players” has garnered a cult following on TikTok and pretty much everywhere. It is now her highest-charting song on the Hot 100, outrunning “No More Parties”. She has also been a bit of a style icon for girls, and guys, alike. After making waves in the popular MSCHF Big Red Boots while performing at a Brooklyn Nets game, Coi Leray’s iconic style is taking over fashion month. Coi Leray has attended several fashion shows in London and is expected to pull up to several Milan and Paris shows as well.

Moreover, Coi is known for her hyperactive raps that are undoubtedly catchy. She has collaborated with big names in the music industry such as Nicki Minaj, Fetty Wap, Pooh Shiesty, and Kodak Black. Leray flexed her versatility on the catwalk when she made her runway debut in The Blonds show last season. She walked in a sexy Y2K-inspired look consisting of a bedazzled tube top and matching jeans painted in bling.

Coi Leray Walking The Blonds S/S’23

When asked about walking the runway, Coi Leray told Paper Magazine, “For The Blonds show, I was nervous because I never walked before in a fashion show. The pants I wore had chains all over them that made it hard for me to walk with heels, but I prayed and did the best I can. It came out great.” [Paper Magazine]. Coi Leray’s look at Chet Lo during London Fashion Week was a dazzling blue dream. The rapper sported a blue Chet Lo gradient effect top and pant duo, paired with a metallic two-toned blue trench coat from Burberry. She completed the look with a spikey updo and subtle stud earrings. For the Mowalola Autumn/Winter showcase Coi Leray wore a blue lace-up leather dress with silver hardware and printed over-the-knee wedged boots.

Her Look At Chet Lo Autumn/Winter 2023

Additionally, she also made an appearance at JW Anderson’s Autumn/Winter showcase. For the show, she wore a dolphin-adorned graphic muscle-style tee with a pleated grey micro mini skirt. She finished the look off with scrunched-up white socks and chunky sneakers. For Diesel Autumn/Winter 2023, Coi Leray sported a chic denim-on-denim look that was giving all of the Britney Spears circa 2001 vibes with a more seductive spin. The show promoted safe sex while proving there are never too many things to do with denim. Let us know which of these looks is your favorite, in the comments below.

A$AP Rocky Fronts The New Gucci Guilty Campaign

A$AP Rocky is the new face of Gucci’s bestselling Guilty fragrance. Starring alongside Elliot Page and Julia Garner, the rapper is dressed in signature Gucci silhouettes in the campaign. A$AP Rocky is a longtime fan of the Italian label. He has previously sported Gucci monogrammed babushka scarves, Horesbit sliders, dalmatian-emblazoned tracksuits, and Prince of Wales blazers. He made an appearance in their Fall/Winter 2020 campaign alongside Tyler, The Creator, and Iggy Pop. A$AP Rocky has also attended several Gucci fashion shows, including the Gucci x Adidas show in Milan last February.

The Gucci Guilty scent has a recognizable peppery, mandarin-laden smell. The fragrance has been a hit since it first launched back in 2010. The Gucci label has a history of promoting big names to front their campaigns. Some of these celebrities include Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, Dakota Johnson, and most recently, Ryan Gosling. The campaign was lensed by British photographer Glen Luchford who has previously captured A$AP Rocky for Calvin Klein’s Spring 2019 campaign.

For the campaign, A$AP Rocky can be seen sporting an ivory ruffled button-up blouse. Overtop, he wore a black diamond-adorned velvet jacket. Sticking to Spring/Summer 2023 trends, an enormous floral brooch was attached. This brought in the floral patterns that the Gucci label is known for flaunting. Furthermore, this look and campaign follow the rapper’s appearance at Super Bowl LVII. He cheered on his partner Rihanna while she brought the house (or stage) down. His look for the night consisted of a custom red, white, and blue NFL leather varsity jacket by designer Jeff Hamilton. The jacket featured an embroidered image of Rihanna’s tattooed hand holding a football.

Additionally, he accessorized with a Fenty-branded trucker hat, and a pair of massive khaki pants held up by his favorite “GRIM” belt. Finally, he completed the look with square-toed boots. Gucci is holding its Autumn/Winter 2023 showcase in Milan this Friday. A$AP is supposed to attend the show, as well as Elliot Page and Julia Garner. We can only assume that he will show up in a look nothing short of iconic for the presentation. The new Gucci Guilty campaign is launching on March 1st. Stay tuned for updates and more details on the campaign on HotNewHipHop, as well as our Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Mowalola’s Autumn/Winter Showcase Was Dripped in New York Yankees Emblems

For her Autumn/Winter 2023 collection, Nigerian designer Mowalola Ogunlesi brought New York to London. The designer delivered a collection consisting of “New York Yankees” inspired pieces that pay tribute to the Big Apple. The collection titled “Dark Web” explored extreme “techno-apocalyptic tones,” signature Mowalola brand risqué pieces, and lots of New York nods.

In addition, highlights of the collection include huge bootleg Yankees logos that were on Mowalola pieces such as oversized leather jackets, knee-high boots, and belt buckles attached to skirts. Also featured on the runway was the label’s rumored Timberland collab with a perforated Yankees motif. “Smack a Bitch” rapper Rico Nasty was featured as a model for the collection. She sported an oversized mustard yellow motorcycle jacket and micro-mini skirt look emblazoned with a black New York Yankees-inspired motif.

Mowalola created her Autumn/Winter 2023 collection to honor blueprint African-American fashion. Sagging pants, cocked hats, and Uptowns appeared on the runway. Elsewhere, bold and daring pieces were displayed such as extreme cutout dresses. A bawdy tank reading “insert disc here” with an arrow pointing to (you know where) was also featured. Additionally, massive handbags, sewer top totes, bizarre three-eyed sunglasses, and LED light makeup looks completed the “Dark Web” vision. According to Office Magazine, “Dark Web encapsulates the threads of sports, culture, and corporations that embody New York City — referred to by its darker moniker Gotham through signature the New York Yankees logo and NYC license plates printed across leather bags, jersey tees, leather jackets, and baseball caps.

Even the city’s Museum of Modern Art lettering was reimagined with “MoWA” text stamped on hoodies and tees reminiscent of local merchandise”. Moreover, there is no question as to why Mowalola decided to use New York as inspiration for her new collection, as did several other designers this season including Heron Preston, Who Decides War, and so much more. The city is filled with an eccentric style, art, and people on every corner. Mowalola Ogunlesi is known for captivating audiences with her unique designs that draw inspiration from literally anything and everything. All in all, while this is only her most recent example, we anticipate that this will definitely not be Mowalola’s last.

Barbie Gets A BHM Makeover From Beyoncé And Megan Thee Stallion’s Sylist

In honor of Black History Month, stylist Zerina Akers collaborated with Barbie to create a series of looks for the doll’s Instagram. Akers, who has styled Latto, Neicy Nash, and Chloe x Halle, garnered recognition as Beyoncé‘s personal stylist. In addition, the highly sought-after trendsetter received an Emmy for her costume designs in Black Is King. Now, Akers is bringing her stylish twist to Barbie’s wardrobe. According to The Root, the Akers-Barbie collaboration project presents Barbie as a Black culture icon while celebrating diversity in representation.

When discussing her inspiration for the project with the outlet, Akers commented, “partnering with Barbie and getting to dress yet another icon is such a full circle moment for me—Barbie and Mattel were such a huge part of my childhood and are so nostalgic for me. I’m so excited to reimagine Barbie’s style and help inspire the next generation of fashionistas to dream big!” The costume designer also revealed how when she was a kid, she would find ways to dress up her Barbies to her own tastes. “Whether I was making clothes for my Barbie dolls or styling their hair, I was able to practice different ways to explore creatively as it related to image, appearance, and lifestyle,” Akers mentioned.

Barbie Receives A New Look From Zerina Akers

The 36-year-old fashionista added how important representation was when she was in her doll-playing phase. “For me, Barbie was one of my earliest forms of representation. My aunt would buy me the prettiest Black Barbie dolls to play with,” she told the outlet. “It was very important for us to see ourselves in the toys we played with and for our dolls to have multicultural ‘friends.’” Back in 2020, Akers founded the online marketplace Black Owned Everything. The organization initially started as an Instagram account, but has since grown into a “movement.” Black Owned Everything’s goal is to bridge Black business and the community through “meaningful and long-lasting participation.” The website describes, “it is not ephemeral, trend-based, or short-lived.”

The Akers-Barbie collaboration drops today (February 22nd) on Barbie’s global Instagram account, @BarbieStyle. The series will be posted as editorial-style photoshoots, all showcasing the best looks from Akers’s collection. For news related to pop culture and hip-hop, be sure to check out HNHH.
