Travis Kelce has deleted a number of old social media posts made around 2010 and 2011. The move came after Kelce received backlash over their sentiment. Many Taylor Swift fans found a new love for Kelce over his error-ridden posts about squirrels and Chipotle. However, several of Kelce’s posts were less wholesome in nature. Of the posts deleted, many expressed a visceral disdain for fat women. Others appeared to express homophobic sentiments. Kelce has not released a statement about the deleted tweets.

However, the disappearance of the tweets was perceived as validation by some vocal minority groups within the Taylor Swift fandom. Whether it was the Gaylors or those, like Dave Portnoy, who simply don’t like Kelce, the tweets were proof that Kelce was a bad person and doesn’t deserve Swift. Despite this, others have lamented the deleting of some of the less egregious tweets.

Kelce And Swift’s Parents Expected To Meet Next Week

However, not only will this week’s Monday Night Football game see Travis Kelce face off against his brother, but his parents are also expected to meet the parents of Taylor Swift. While plans aren’t fully confirmed, Andrea and Scott Swift are expected to share a luxury box with Donna and Ed Kelce, according to ET. Taylor’s father is reportedly a massive Eagles fan, although Travis claims to have converted him to the Chiefs fandom. This reportedly happened when he meet Swift and her father for dinner in Buenos Aires last weekend.

This claim, made on the Kelce Brothers’ podcast, New Heights, prompted Jason to shoot Scott Swift a DM. “What are we doing, Scott? You’re gonna let this man’s devilish good looks and relationship with your daughter sway you from a lifetime of fandom, Scott? Ridiculous,” Jason’s message to Swift read. However, it’s unclear if Taylor herself will be in attendance. She is due to perform in Rio de Janeiro for the three nights preceding the game. However, much like Kelce did to come see her in Argentina, she might pull a marathon trip to make the game.

R. Kelly’s Music Is “Okay” To Talk About “Because He’s In Jail,” Stephen A. Smith Claims

Stephen A. Smith used his podcast, The Stephen A. Smith Show, to make a bizarre statement about disgraced rapper R. Kelly. While debating a tweet that simply read “Best sex song?”, Smith invoked the convicted sex offender. “I don’t want to bring up R. Kelly, but I think it’s okay now because he’s in jail,” Smith said in a widely disseminated clip. Furthermore, the clip has widely been met with shock that Smith, a widely-respected pundit with a national TV spot, would say something so out-of-pocket unprovoked.

The viral moment was part of a larger three-minute answer that Smith gave. His answers included Spandau Ballet’s “True”, The Jackson 5’s “All I Do Is Think Of You”, and Luther Vandross’ “A House Is Not A Home”. In regards to Kelly, Smtih’s pick was “Dedicated” and after the viral clip, he reasoned that he wouldn’t have brought it up if Kelly was “still out there, getting away with stuff.” However, Smith does go on to name at least three R. Kelly songs as part of his answer. Furthermore, Smith argues that “we can’t argue that there’s quite a few” R. Kelly songs that would make an objective list in answer to the question.

Smith Compares Kim Kardashian To A Sex Worker

However, fans have noticed that Smith has been getting increasingly out of pocket over the last year or so. One particularly egregious example was when Smith appeared to reveal obtaining illegal information to continue a beef with Lonzo Ball. Despite this, perhaps Smith’s most out-of-pocket statement in recent months was about Kim Kardashian. In July, Smith tweeted “Is Kim Kardashian a “prostitute”? Is Kris Jenner a “pimp”?” Understandable, Smith got a lot of heat for the tweet. However, one of the loudest voices, or at least one of the voices Smith paid attention to, was Patrick Beverley. The newly-signed Sixer called Smith out on the tweet. “Not cool. She has kids. Should not be the tittle or topic.” Smith’s tweet was later deleted as he went into damage control mode.

“Clerical error bro. You are absolutely right. That is being corrected right now as we speak. And for the record, I don’t think of @KimKardashian that way nor would I ever speak of her or any woman that way, which I’ve stated. That’s for checking that issue,” Smith tweeted in response to Beverley’s call out. The phrase of “clerical error” absolutely sent people on Twitter, mocking the veteran broadcaster for his bizarre phrasing and excuse-making. “I would never speak of a woman that way” right after he quite literally did is peak first take energy lol,” noted one commenter.

Draymond Green Suspension Supported By Steve Kerr

Steve Kerr has publicly supported the five-game suspension leveled against Draymond Green. “He took it too far. Draymond was wrong. He knows that. It’s a bad look, and the five games are deserved,” Kerr said Thursday night. Green picked up the longest suspension of his career after putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold earlier in the week. Three other players, including Gobert, received $25,000 fines but no suspension. The severity of Green’s behavior, plus his history of “unsportsmanlike conduct” contributed to the length of his ban.

“I don’t have a problem with [Green] trying to get Rudy off of Klay … but he’s got to let go. He hung on for six, seven seconds. It was a terrible visual for the league, for Draymond and for everybody. Draymond has to find a way to not cross the line. I’m not talking about getting an ejection or a technical, I’m talking about a physical act of violence. That’s inexcusable. We have to do everything we can to give him the help and assistance he needs to be able to draw that distinction between being an incredible competitor … but he can’t cross that line. He crossed it the other night, for sure,” Kerr added. Green was most recently suspended after stomping on Domantas Sabonis during the 2023 playoffs.

Shaq & Antonio Brown React To Green’s Ejection

Furthermore, Green’s ejection elicited a variety of reactions from around the NBA and beyond. Shaq had a hilarious response to the sight of Green putting Gobert into a chokehold. The Hall of Famer’s response came during Inside The NBA‘s half-time segment. After the team had discussed Clippers-Nuggets, they turned to Shaq. The self-described “best musician in the NBA” proceeded to remix the show’s theme song (Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out”) to reflect Green’s actions, instead singing “Mama Said Choke You Out”.

Meanwhile, Antonio Brown also weighed in on the situation. “Draymond Green in Antonio Brown” was the simple post that the former NFL star made on X, formerly Twitter. Brown is likely alluding to the notion that both men are/were “unfairly targeted” or demonized by their respective leagues. Brown, due to his position on the offense, was never given the label of being a dirty player. However, he does believe himself to have been essentially run out of the league for his on- and off-field antics.

For years, Stephen A. Smith has been going on television and begging people to STAY OFF THE WEED.

What started as one of his rants became a patented catchphrase for the ESPN personality every time an athlete found himself in trouble for using marijuana, which has happened less and less now that it’s legal in most states and most of the major sports leagues have removed it from their banned substance list. Even so, Smith still campaigns for folks to get off the weed and on Thursday, one of the most shocking news items of 2023 dropped when one of the most legendary weed smokers in history, Snoop Dogg, said he’s “giving up smoke” with a social media post reminiscent of a high school recruit making his college choice, asking for privacy at this time.

A few hours after the news of Snoop’s retirement from smoking hit, Stephen A. posted his response, photoshopping his face onto the Wario “I’ve won, but at what cost” meme.

It’s some top-tier posting from Smith and, I assume, whoever helps Smith run his social media — although, I do prefer pretending Stephen A. was opening up photoshop and making this all on his own. Stephen A. has been trying for years to get someone to listen and maybe, just maybe, Snoop watched one too many First Take episodes and was moved.

Stephen A. Smith responded to Snoop’s announcement that he was no longer smoking with a perfect meme. Smith, who has long been known as the “STAY OFF THE DAMN WEED” guy retweeted Snoop’s announcement post with a meme. It should a picture of Smith staring off into the middle distance next to text that read, “I’ve won, but at what cost?” While it’s clear that someone in Smith’s media department threw the image together, it’s hilarious all the same.

The post came a few hours after Snoop himself announced that he was quitting smoking in the same way that college players announce they’re entering the transfer portal. “After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time,” Snoop’s social media post read.

Stephen A. Blasts NBA Over Giannis Ejection

Stephen A. has, as always, been on something of a tear lately. This most recent outburst came last week after Giannis received a questionable ejection against the Pistons. “I’m gonna call the league office today. Who the hell is paying to see the referee? That is not a reason to eject Giannis Antetokounmpo from a game, that is ridiculous. That is a disservice to the fans, to the paying customer coming to see them play, that is ridiculous. It is not a reason to eject a superstar basketball player who clearly the paying customer is coming to see. I know you get him 41 nights a year in the locale that is Milwaukee, I get all of that. Thank God it wasn’t a road game where you only get to see him once or twice a year. But for Giannis Antetokounmpo to get ejected for that reason is ridiculous,” Smith declared.

Giannis picked up his second technical after staring down the Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart after throwing down a dunk over him. Furthermore, Giannis threw up the “too small” taunt. The refs didn’t like this and whistled Giannis for his second tech of the game. A disbelieving Giannis tried to reason with the refs but the whistle had already been blown and the officiating team wanted Giannis out of the game.

NFL host Charissa Thompson made a bold confession on an episode of Pardon My Take this week, admitting that she has fabricated sideline reports in the past. “I’ve said this before. I haven’t been fired to saying it, but I’ll say it again. I would make up the report sometimes, because A, the coach wouldn’t come out at halftime, or it was too late and I didn’t want to screw up the report. So I was like, ‘I’m just gonna make this up.’ Because first of all, no coach is gonna get mad if I say, ‘Hey, we need to stop hurting ourselves, we need to be better on third down, we need to stop turning the ball over and do a better job of getting off the field.’ They’re not gonna correct me on that. So I’m like, it’s fine, I’ll just make up the report.”

Thompson was previously a sideline reporter for Fox before moving to hosting roles at the NFL Network and Amazon. However, her confession has caused an uproar within the media community. “Young reporters: This is not normal or ethical. Coaches and players trust us with sensitive information, and if they know that you’re dishonest and don’t take your role seriously, you’ve lost all trust and credibility,” ESPN broadcaster Molly McGrath wrote on social media in response to the news. Furthermore, Thompson had previously alluded to paraphrasing or embellishing comments from coaches. However, this was the first time she had admitted to completely fabricating parts of her reporting.

Will Thompson Be Punished For Her Admission?

Intentionally or not, Thompson has likely created a much bigger story around the profession and ethics of the sideline reporter role. She is a well-liked personality and is often praised for making professional reporting engaging to interact with. However, it’s rare that a journalist will be forthcoming with the fact that they intentionally broadcast information they knew to be false. Neither the NFL Network nor Amazon have commented on Thompson’s admission. Furthermore, it’s unclear if she will be reprimanded for what she admitted to.

However, the repercussions could be much more big-picture in scope. Coaches may be less willing to Thompson now that she has sunk her own credibility. Furthermore, praise of her reporting may be more subdued. From now on, bosses and fans alike wonder whether she is actually speaking the truth when turned to. Thompson no longer primarily works in a sideline reporter role. However, there is every chance that the entire field takes a hint as coaches become more wary of the reporters they are speaking to. James Madison Bowl Eligibility Leads To Lawsuit Threat From Virginia Attorney General

The NCAA’s decision to deem James Madison ineligible from bowl games this season has led the attorney general of Virginia to threaten the organization with a lawsuit. A law firm engaged by James Miyares threatened the NCAA with a lawsuit if the school’s bowl ineligibility isn’t reversed. The letter was sent before the NCAA denied James Madison a postseason waiver on Wednesday night. The Dukes are in their second year of FBS play after transitioning from the FCS last season. NCAA rules state that schools are ineligible for bowl games and conference championships during their two-year transition period.

However, the Dukes are 10-0 on the season and ranked at #18 in the latest AP Poll. They are just one of seven FBS schools that are still undefeated this season. “[The NCAA] demonstrates that they, once again, ignore the best interests of our nation’s student-athletes. The NCAA has made an arbitrary and capricious decision that has an anti-competitive and profoundly negative impact on student-athletes, JMU, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and collegiate football as a whole,” Miyares said. If James Madison cannot play in the Sun Belt championship, their spot will likely go to Coastal Carolina. James Madison face the Chanticleers in their season finale.

Why is James Madison Feuding With the NCAA?

As mentioned, James Madison is one of less than 10 schools with a perfect record in 2020. Their win streak currently stands at 13 and dates back to the end of last season. In 2022, the Dukes’ first year in the FCS, the team went 8-3. The Harrisonburg-based school has only gotten better since then. Furthermore, James Madison is actually poised to humiliate the NCAA. Last season, the Dukes thrashed Coastal Carolina 47-7 in their season finale. If that were to happen again, only for Costal Carolina to take James Madison’s spot in the conference championship, it would highlight many of the issues that people have with the NCAA’s decision-making.

In his letter, Miyares appeared to indicate that he would pursue an antitrust case against the NCAA. “This injustice transcends athletics, and should not be allowed to stand. After repeated warnings to the NCAA, they still refuse to do what is right. Therefore, I am prepared to expose the NCAA’s unlawful conduct and seek justice for James Madison University through litigation, provided the University authorizes me to do so,” he said. WWE Announces Partnership With Big 12, Will Present Belt To Conference Championship MVP

The WWE has announced a new partnership with the NCAA’s Big 12 conference. The deal will see a custom blended logo at AT&T Stadium and an exclusive Big 12 merchandise line. However, the most notable aspect of the partnership will be WWE superstars presenting the MVP of the Big 12 Championship Game next month with a custom WWE belt.

“WWE is a global brand that connects with a wide array of audiences. With this partnership, we will integrate WWE and its brand power into one of the conference’s biggest moments, further strengthening the bridge between sports and entertainment throughout the Big 12,” Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said in a statement. It’s the latest step in the WWE’s move into college sports following their Next In Line NIL platform. Furthermore, the WWE is finalizing a licensing deal to create a WWE belt for the SEC as well.

Who Will Compete For Big 12’s First WWE Belt?

The race at the top of the Big 12 has been one of the tightest in college football this season. Without any divisions to separate the teams, the top two finishers after the regular season compete in the championship game. As it stands, with two games left to play, #7 Texas is in sole command of first place at 9-1 (6-1 Big 12), with only a loss to Oklahoma blemishing their record this season. However, after Texas is a four-way tie for second between #23 Oklahoma State, #14 Oklahoma, Iowa State, and #21 Kansas State. All four teams have a 5-2 conference record.

2023 marks the final year for the Big 12 in its current format.
