Jamahal Hill Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge

Jamahal Hill, who briefly held the UFC light heavyweight title earlier this year, has been arrested on a domestic violence charge in Michigan. Hill was booked at a jail in Kent County on November 27 and released later that same day. However, prosecutors also charged the 32-year-old with a single count of misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence. Hill was accused of assaulting his brother James. However, details about the altercation are scarce.

Hill rose to the top of his UFC weight division in January, beating Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 for the vacant light heavyweight title. However, Hill’s tenure with the belt only lasted until July. After suffering an Achilles tendon rupture, Hill vacated the title. Alex Pereria took the vacant belt at UFC 295 last month. Prior to his arrest, Hill was expected to challenge Pereria for the belt once he recovered from his injury.

However, Hill isn’t the only athlete who has been arrested on a domestic violence charge. NFL star Von Miller was booked on a similar charge in Texas earlier this week. Miller surrendered to police on Thursday afternoon after a warrant for his arrest was issued on Wednesday. Per TMZ, Miller was booked around 4pm Central on Thursday and released on bond soon after. According to ESPN, Miller’s bond was set at $5000. He had been wanted by police in Texas since late morning Wednesday after they responded to a “major disturbance call” concerning Miller and his pregnant partner. According to an affidavit, an argument about Miller’s partner’s travel plans had allegedly turned violent. Miller allegedly shoved her, pulled her hair, and placed his hands around her neck on two separate occasions.

Miller is currently on a bye week and returned to his home state of Texas during the time off from the Bills. Both the Bills and the NFL have since released statements, acknowledging the arrest and stating that they were investigating the allegations. Miller was previously investigated on similar accusations in Colorado in 2021. However, that inquiry did not lead to any sort of formal police intervention.

David Njoku Burned 17% Of His Body In September Accident

David Njoku recently gave more details about the September bonfire accident that left him with burns on “17% of his body”. Njoku said he likes to have bonfires in his backyard to relax on a Friday night. However, after running out of his usual lighter fluid, he tried a new spray to keep the fire going. However, the spray lingered in the air, leading to a back blast that caught Njoku by surprise. Despite the injuries, Njoku played through “intense pain” just two days later in a “personal” game against the Ravens.

Njoku, in his seventh season with the Browns, has still appeared in 11 games this season despite the injury. With 492 yards and six games left to play, the tight end will likely set a new personal best in yardage. To this point, his single-season high is 639 yards, set all the way back in 2018. Furthermore, he could also eclipse his touchdown high. Njoku has recorded four touchdowns in four separate seasons.

When it happened my eyes were open, so I saw everything and I really should’ve been blinded. Luckily I’m not, so I give all glory to God. All the pain and suffering from training in the offseason is far worse than any of this.” Prior to those comments, Njoku showed off the extent of the damage caused by the accident. In pictures posted online, Njoku showed that his face was nearly entirely covered with painful burns. Njoku covered his face with a custom medical mask when entering the Browns facility in the first game after the injury, meaning that this was the first time that the extent of his injuries had been seen.

However, Njoku is also putting the unfortunate incident to good use. He has launched a clothing company called Withstand and will be donating a portion of the profits to the American Burn Association. Aaron Rodgers Says “Anything’s Possible” With Jets Return

Aaron Rodgers argued that he could return earlier than Christmas Eve if his recovery continues to go well. “Anything is possible. However, Rodgers reiterated that his return depends on whether the Jets can still make the playoffs. “I don’t think that would make a ton of sense. A comeback this year before the four-month mark would mean I’m not 100 percent healthy, so it’d be a risk for myself. For the team to sign off on if we’re out of it, I’d be surprised if they would OK that to come back,” Rodgers noted. Per ESPN, the 4-7 Jets have a less than 1% chance to make the playoffs. While a loss to Atlanta on Sunday wouldn’t eliminate, it would put the team one loss away from elimination.

Mutilated Cow Found At Oklahoma State Frat Ahead Of Big 12 Title Game Against Texas

Police are investigating a mutilated longhorn cow that was found outside an Oklahoma State fraternity. Police were alerted to the house of FarmHouse Fraternity around 6:30am. An expletive had been carved into the animal’s side and its stomach had been cut open, per the campus newspaper. “It’s a very cruel crime to be committed, especially right before the Big 12 Championship. Nothing is worth doing that kind of crap,” a campus police officer told The Oklahoman. “[We are] appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty at an off-campus location near a fraternity house. Appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation,” the university said in a statement.

Oklahoma State plays Texas in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday. Longhorns are the mascot and namesake of Texas’ athletic department. Furthermore, campus police told the student paper, The O’Colly, that the perpetrators could face an animal cruelty charge. It’s a charge that carries a felony. This remains a developing story.

The Longhorns are favored by 15 and hoping to sneak into the College Football Playoff if other results go their way.
