Miami Hurricanes Tight End Granted Ninth Year Of College Eligbility

Cam McCormick has been granted an unprecedented ninth year of college eligibility by the NCAA. “I’m blessed that it was me to go through it because a lot of people would have folded under the pressure — both mentally and physically. But it’s pushed me to be a better person and teammate — everything. I’ve learned so much from every year and everything I’ve had to overcome,” McCormick told ESPN. It will be his second season in Miami.

McCormick first entered college football in 2016 as a three-star prospect for the Oregon Ducks. However, redshirting a true freshman and five seasons in which he has been eligible for a medical redshirt meant that he is now in the unprecedented position that he is now. McCormick has 231 career yards and 4 career touchdowns. He transferred to Miami ahead of the 2023 season to reunite with Mario Cristobal. The Hurricanes ended the season 7-6, ending their season with a 31-24 loss to Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl.

College Teammates Share Stores About Jason Kelce

Meanwhile, former college teammates of Jason Kelce have shared stories about the veteran center as he seemingly prepares to retire. “Those two, it was just insane. Like, holy sh-t, these guys are crazy. Those two are really good at drinking beer. They used to love playing Nintendo 64 for hours, smashing the controls and chugging beers at the same time. They would just come up with these random drinking games while playing, and they were incredibly good at it,” Tom DeTemple recalled to The Athletic.

“We were having a party after one of the games and Jason was a little bit inebriated, let’s say, and he ripped the sink out of the wall in one of the bathrooms. And everybody was like, “What the hell? Who is this guy? This walk-on just ripped the freaking sink out of the wall,” Craig Carey said of the older Kelce. Additionally, Isaiah Pead, another former teammate, said that Jason was consistently referred to as “Big Kelc” as opposed to his name.

Cowboys Retain Mike McCarthy, Stephen A. Smith Sounds Off

Despite a blowout loss to Green Bay in the NFL playoffs, the Cowboys have chosen to retain Mike McCarthy as their head coach. “I believe that the direction, the leadership, everything is in place. And I’m not very comfortable talking about myself, but I came here to win a championship. I didn’t come here to get another contract or anything other than that. I came to Dallas to win a world championship, and that’s why I’m standing here. Buy into us,” McCarthy said in a press conference.

However, the decision makes 2024 an all-or-nothing year for the team. In four years under McCarthy, the team has three playoff appearances but just one playoff win. They have posted three consecutive 12-5 seasons but are still yet to reach the conference championship game for the first time since 1995. While Dak Prescott had a career year and was named Second Team All-Pro, the Cowboys continue to collapse when it matters most. Of course, Stephen A. Smith had a lot to say about the decision as well, going off on a loud rant during First Take.

Seahawks Outline Head Coach Search Mentality

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, the Seahawks outlined what is driving their head coach search. GM John Schneider has said that team ownership has just one directive for his first-ever head coaching search – keep the team’s “positive culture”. “It’s clear. It’s concise. We want to keep our positive culture, everything that’s been created here. There’s so many special people in this building. It’s amazing to be on the phone with all these agents and the people that are interested in this position and to be able to explain to them, ‘Hey, there’s a foundation here that’s incredible,’” Schneider said in his first comments since Pete Carroll was relieved of heading coaching duties after 14 years. Carrol was transitioned to an “advisor” role last week.

Furthermore, Schneider confirmed a change alluded to by Carroll in is final press conference. Schneider, as GM, will have the final say on personnel hires. Previously, Carroll was responsible for his own staff and reported directly to team owner Jody Allen. “Our setup earlier was … the coaching staff did not fall under my umbrella, and now it will. It’s not necessarily a Jody Allen decision or choosing this person or that person; it’s just a contractual situation,” Schneider noted.

Jason Kelce Gifts Signed Jersey To Favorite McDonald’s Employee

Jason Kelce had something more than money when he pulled into his local McDonald’s drive-thru this week. First reported by a local Fox affiliate, Kelce surprised Danielle Bonham, a long-time employee of Kelce’s local McDonald’s, with a signed jersey. “To Danielle, Go Birds! Thank you!” read the inscription.

After Kelce’s Eagles were dumped out of the playoffs by the Buccaneers, reports emerged that Kelce had told his teammates he would be retiring. Kelce is 36 and has played in Philly since the Eagles drafted him in 2011. However, in the most recent episode of New Heights, Kelce clarified that he wasn’t officially retired just yet. “I just don’t think you’re in a position after a game like that to really make that decision. It’s just something that I think, when it’s time to officially announce what’s happening in the future, it’ll be done in a way that’s definitive and pays respect to a lot of people and individuals that have meant a lot to me and what has led to the career I’ve had,” Kelce told his brother.

Jason Kelce Clarifies Retirement Reports

Meanwhile, Jason also used their most recent podcast episode to address the rumors that he had retired. In short – he wasn’t officially gone just yet, but he more than likely would not return for the 2024 season. “I just don’t think you’re in a position after a game like that to really make that decision. There’s too much emotion in the moment. There’s too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision. It’s just something that I think, when it’s time to officially announce what’s happening in the future, it’ll be done in a way that’s definitive and pays respect to a lot of people and individuals that have meant a lot to me and what has led to the career I’ve had,” Kelce told his brother.

Furthermore, the four other six-time All-Pro centers are all Hall of Famers. Kelce returned to the Eagles for 2023 on a one-year contract, which officially expires in March.

Reba McEntire, Post Malone, And Andra Day To Perform Super Bowl Pregame Songs

Reba McEntire will perform “The Star Spangled Banner”, Post Malone will sing “America the Beautiful”, and Andra Day will close out with “Lift Every Voice And Sing” at next month’s Super Bowl. These performances will precede the first half of a game that will also include a Roc Nation-produced halftime show performed by Usher. The Super Bowl is scheduled to be held on February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Last year’s game featured performances from Chris Stapleton, Babyface, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Usher’s halftime show will look to outdo an electric (and pregnant) performance from Rihanna.

McEntire is a country legend, with three Grammy wins and 25 Billboard No. 1 singles. Malone is a 10-time Grammy nominee whose albums are 14 times platinum certified. Meanwhile, Day is a Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated, Grammy-winning singer and actress. The trio should provide an electric start to the proceedings. The teams for the Super Bowl are yet to be decided, with the divisional round of the playoffs this weekend.

Usher Drops First Super Bowl Teaser

Meanwhile, Usher recently dropped the first trailer for his aforementioned halftime show at the Super Bowl. Titled “One performance, 30 years in the Making”, the minute-long trailer highlights Usher’s legacy, with a collection of fans and celebrities performing the singer’s 2004 classic, “Yeah”. Usher was announced as the Super Bowl headliner back in September 2024, with the NFL debuting a skit involving Kim Kardashian.

Furthermore, Usher also announced that Super Bowl Sunday (February 11) will also mark the release of his new album. Coming Home will be Usher’s ninth studio and his first since Hard II Love in 2016. In the last seven years, Usher’s only extended project was 2018’s A, a collaborative album with Zaytoven. Furthermore, he will be hoping that Coming Home will be a return to form for his work. Hard II Love was his first album since his 1994 debut to neither peak at #1 nor receive an RIAA certification.

Mase & Cam’ron Find Dwyane Wade’s Painted Nails Hilarious

Ma$e and Cam’ron continued their crusade to uphold the gender binary . The pair laughed at Dwyane Wade’s painted nails so hard that they cried. Wade had painted his nails in the Heat’s signature colors as he attended a Hall of Fame ceremony and statue unveiling in Miami. However, this mundane act was enough to reduce the pair of 40-somethings to fits of tearful laughter. Ignoring Treasure Wilson’s reasoning that plenty of male celebrities now paint their nails, the rap duo went as far as to nonsensically compare Wade’s actions to “Michael Jordan modeling lingerie”.

However, there is just a little bit of hypocrisy going on from the pair. After all, Cam’ron himself has previously gotten very upset when people have implied he is “gay” because he famously wears pink. “You know how long I had to hear, ‘Cam’s gay, he wears pink’? Bring your mother around, n-gga. See if she gives a f-ck, n-gga. See if your mom gives a whole f-ck, n-gga. I’ll tell her how gay I am. I’ll f-ck her in the pink mink,” Cam’ron said on a July 2023 episode of It Is What It Is.

Cam’ron Is “Jealous” Of OBJ, Ebonie K. Williams Claims

Meanwhile, Ebonie K. Williams recently argued that Cam’ron is “jealous” of the sexual freedom younger Black men get to enjoy. “Jealous of a sense of gender choice and sexual liberation that the Black men of my generation were denied/didn’t have access to,” Wiliams wrote on social media. Furthermore, Williams was responding to a comment musing on why Cam’ron and other men of his generation are “obsessed” with how younger men choose to live. The conversation had been sparked by Cam’ron and Ma$e mocking Odell Beckham Jr’s “feminine tendencies”.

Queerness and perceived “feminine” behavior is a common topic for Cam’ron, especially when it comes to OBJ. In August 2023, Cam’ron used a video of the wide receiver seemingly appreciating his teammate’s butts during a segement about Dwight Howard. Killa used the video to argue that queer athletes should be segregated from their straight teammates in locker room scenarios. However, the rapper then claimed that he is not homophobic because he’s “got gay relatives”.

The NFL Has Announced Its 2024 Super Bowl Pre-Game Performers: Post Malone, Reba McEntire, And Andra Day

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest events in sports, but it’s also routinely a major moment in pop culture: The Emmys recently shared a list of the 75 most impactful TV moments of all time, and making the list were Janet Jackson’s Halftime Show and Whitney Houston’s National Anthem. The big game’s entertainment legacy will continue with this year’s match-up on February 11, and now we know who’s involved on the music side of things.

As Variety reports, at Super Bowl LVIII, Reba McEntire will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Post Malone will perform “America The Beautiful,” and Andra Day will sing “Lift Every Voice And Sing.” They all of course join Usher, who was previously announced as the halftime performer. Also worth noting is that all those performances will be accompanied by corresponding American Sign Language performances.

Malone has a busy year ahead of him beyond the Super Bowl, as he’s set to be all over the festival circuit this summer: He’s performing at Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Rolling Loud California, and even Stagecoach. Speaking of country music, McEntire is set to return to her role as a coach on the upcoming season of The Voice. As for Day, she’s starring in the upcoming movie The Deliverance.

Lebron James Watches Bronny’s USC Game While Doing Media Interviews

LeBron James was a little more distracted than usual during his post-game media interviews, as he tried to watch his son Bronny take on Arizona at the same time. The first indication that James was not giving the media his full attention was when he rebuffed scrum reporters in the tunnel saying he had to go watch Bronny. While James did fulfill his media obligations, he would often look past the reporters to focus on the screen showing the USC game.

However, he focused a little more when one reporter asked him whether it was tougher to lose with the Lakers or watch Bronny and USC struggle. “Watching college basketball alone is tough. Then you add my son in there, it’s even … yeah, yeah, cause I’m … it’s hard to watch. It’s hard to watch. Yeah, I’m a dad, but also, love the game of basketball and college basketball, just, it’s like ten people in the paint at the same time. It’s very hard at times to watch. But USC’s a great program, Arizona’s a great program, you get a good opportunity to watch some good basketball in this game,” James said.

LeBron Wins, Bronny Loses

The Lakers moved back to a .500 record with a big win over the Dallas Mavericks. James went 25/8/8 on the night while Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell also both recorded 25+ points. The Lakers have now won four of their last six games as fans hope that their dismal post-IST run is now at an end. The team is next in action against the Nets on January 19.

However, Bronny and the Trojans weren’t as fortunate. With Kevin Durant courtside, the younger James played well but the No. 12 Wildcats played better. The 82-67 loss dropped USC to 8-10 and marked their third consecutive loss. The Trojans are now second-to-last in the Pac-12, having started conference play 2-5. Despite this, Bronny’s 11/5/6 impressed Durant. “He was aggressive. He played well,” the Suns star said. However, James’ aggressive play proved costly, as he also committed five turnovers. Next up for the Trojans is 10-7 (4-2 Pac-12) Arizona State.

Pacers Trade For Pascal Siakam

The Indiana Pacers have sent Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, and three first-round picks to Toronto in exchange for two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam. Siakam, averaging 22.2/6.3/4.9 this season, gives Indiana a proven tandem partner for rising star Tyrese Haliburton. At 23-17, the Pacers have the highest-scoring offense in the NBA. However, Siakam would become just their second 20-point shooter behind Haliburton. Despite the move, and the heavy price for it, the Pacers will need to work quickly on an extension, as Siakam is a free agent in the offseason.

“I’m excited that Pascal is getting a first-class opportunity with the Pacers, being paired with Tyrese [Haliburton] and Myles [Turner] and being coached by a great coach in Rick Carlisle. His future looks bright there,” Siakam’s agent, Todd Ramasar, told Andscape. Per ESPN, the Raptors received two 2024 first-round picks and another in 2026.

Warriors Coach Dejan Milojevic Dies

However, the trade was preceded by tragic news on the West Coast. The NBA has postponed a game between the Warriors and Jazz following the death of Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic. Milojevic, 46, suffered a heart attack in Salt Lake City on January 16 during a private team dinner and passed away the following day. Milojevic had served on Steve Kerr’s staff since 2021 and was well-regarded both within the NBA and abroad. Furthermore, at least one team interviewed Milojevic about their head coaching vacancy following the 2022/23 season.

Prior to coming to the NBA, Milojevic established himself as a proven winner in Eastern Europe. Additionally, his time coaching Serbian side Mega meant that he was closely involved with the early development of Nikola Jokic. “We are absolutely devastated by Dejan Milojević’s sudden passing. This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors and an incredibly difficult time for his family, friends, and all of us who had the incredible pleasure to work with him. We grieve with and for his wife, Natasa, and their children, Nikola and Masa,” The Warriors wrote on social media.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Readies “The Marvelous Journey” Doc About His Life

He’s stretching that wingspan and extending his reach into film production, as Giannis Antetokounmpo has made a huge announcement this week. The Milwaukee Bucks star shared on X that he launched Improbable Media alongside his co-founder, sports analyst Jay Williams. Their first major release will be none other than a feature on Prime Video that centers on the life and career of the Greek-Nigerian standout NBA player.

“Proud to announce the launch of @ImprobableMedia with my family and our first feature-length production,” Antetokounmpo wrote in his post. “It’s the true story about me and my family’s journey and I can’t wait to share it with you. Premieres February 19th on @PrimeVideo.”

The Story Of “The Greek Freak”

Giannis: The Marvelous Journey will, of course, feature the NBA superstar alongside his loved ones. Yet, it will also highlight commentary from people in Antetokounmpo’s inner circle. He comes from an impoverished childhood in Greece as the son of Nigerian immigrants and climbed to the top of the basketball world. His teammates and coaches share stories about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s drive and dedication, offering a rare glimpse into his sphere.

The film is an intimate portrait of a global superstar and one of the NBA’s most dominating performers. This is the two-time league MVP led the Milwaukee Bucks to a championship in 2021. However, before hitting the big leagues, Antetokounmpo was simply the child of parents who moved to a new country for a better life. Viewers will catch never-before-seen photos of the basketball star, chronicling his path—often inspiring, heartbreaking, and triumphant.

Ultimately, his dedication landed him in his adopted home of Milwaukee, where he emerged as “The Greek Freak.” There, he became a superstar who transcended conventional limits, transforming the game with his athleticism and versatility. Moreover, Antetokounmpo accomplishes this while striving to use the memory of the loss he endured to spearhead an impact far beyond the court.

Further, Giannis: The Marvelous Journey features interviews with the sports star and his entire family. This includes his mother, Veronica Antetokounmpo; his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex Antetokounmpo; and his fiancée Mariah Riddlesprigger; as well as basketball luminaries Jason Kidd, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Kenny Smith, Vin Baker, Ernie Johnson, and more. It marks the family’s first time given first-person accounts on their collective journey.

The documentary is set to be released on February 19. Will you be tuning into Giannis: The Marvelous Journey?
