It’s been slightly over a year since SZA released her latest album, SOS, on December 9, 2022. For the past few months, SZA has been teasing a deluxe edition of the album, dubbed Lana (SZA’s full legal name is Solána Imani Rowe). There’s been no release date officially revealed yet, but now fans think SZA has covertly let the cat out of the bag.

In a series of social media posts, SZA shared what appears to be different cover art options for Lana, based on the fact that they’re all in a square aspect ratio, that they all have the parental advisory label on them, and that SZA captioned all the posts, “LANA.” Furthermore, a few of the photos feature SZA wearing a generic sports jersey with the number 15 on it, which has fans thinking the project will be released this Friday, December 15. SZA herself has yet to confirm the speculated release date.

A couple hours before those posts, SZA shared another one reflecting on SOS a year after its release. She wrote:

“a day late but Happy 1 year anniversary to an album that is ACTIVELY CHANGING MY LIFE .. like rn currently changing my life . I haven’t processed this year AT ALL cause it’s still happening .. this is beyond my wildest dreams . I never imagined we’d accomplish a fraction of the accolades that came from this .. it often doesn’t feel real and it’s funny cause I swore I’d know what to do if it ever happened [crying laughing emoji] turns out I I froze .. I know the perils of drinking the koolaid so I won’t dabble in that .. but I have to express the immense GRATITUDE I have for every person that made this possible . Every person that’s been apart of this journey. Thank you to GOD and to my incredible TEAM and My FAMILY . My ancestors . Thank you to every person that streamed this album ,came to a show , blasted it in traffic and connected w ANY part of me . To everyone that continues to believe in me and be patient w me as I figure it all out . your my driving force . I love you [heart hands emoji] [hearts emoji] #campforever #SOSFOREVER.”

SZA Teases “Lana” With Cover Art Options Celebrating “SOS” 1-Year Anniversary

SZA teased her new project, Lana, which is what she’s calling the deluxe version of her 2022 album, SOS, on Instagram, on Sunday. In doing so, she shared several pictures that could be possible cover art options. Before that, however, she reflected on the one-year anniversary of SOS.

“A day late but Happy 1 year anniversary to an album that is ACTIVELY CHANGING MY LIFE .. like rn currently changing my life,” she wrote on Instagram. “I haven’t processed this year AT ALL cause it’s still happening. This is beyond my wildest dreams. I never imagined we’d accomplish a fraction of the accolades that came from this .. it often doesn’t feel real and it’s funny cause I swore I’d know what to do if it ever happened . turns out I I froze .. I know the perils of drinking the koolaid so I won’t dabble in that .. but I have to express the immense GRATITUDE I have for every person that made this possible. Earlier this year, she explained that she dealt with bullying at the time and described herself as “awkward.” Check out her latest comments below.

What Is SZA’s Best-Selling Album?

So far, SZA only has two full-length studio albums to her name. However, they have both been critical and commercial successes, earning her much-deserved accolades. Over a decade into her career, she is now widely recognized as a luminary in the realm of contemporary R&B. Additionally, she has broken and set new records in the industry, especially within the last year.

While Ctrl (2017), her debut album, was a huge success, it was SOS that catapulted her into a new echelon. Evidently, the singer is part of the crop of acts known as album artists, and she is certainly very skilled at putting together musical bodies of work. Nevertheless, the success of SOS has been astounding, and it only continues to rise. It’s no surprise that it earned SZA an outstanding nine nominations at the 2024 Grammys

SOS: A Worldwide Event

SOS was released on December 9, 2023, which was less than a year ago. Surprisingly, it’s already surpassed Ctrl’s overall sales and is now SZA’s best-selling album worldwide, moving over 3 million units alone in the United States. Considering the immense impact SOS has had since its release, this makes sense. However, an album selling over three million units in the US, in less than a year, is no ordinary feat. While Ctrl is also certified 3x Platinum in the US, it took the album about five years to achieve that status.

They are also evenly matched in Australia and the United Kingdom in album sales, moving 70,000 and 100,000 units, respectively. However, SOS obliterates Ctrl in Brazil, Canada, and Denmark. So far, SOS has sold 80,000 units in Brazil, 240,000 units in Canada, and 20,000 units in Denmark. Additionally, it is certified Gold (20,000 units) in the Netherlands, whereas Ctrl is yet to have any certifications in that country. Finally, SOS has sold 30,000 units in New Zealand and is currently 2x Platinum in the country. Certainly, Ctrl is in no way a commercial failure. Altogether, SOS has had a truly insane run this year. Nevertheless, both albums are individually brilliant, and SZA has earned her wins.

A Record-Breaking R&B Masterpiece

With two stellar albums in her catalog, SZA has become an untouchable force in the evolving world of R&B. Before SOS was finally released, it was also highly anticipated, as fans had begged and clamored for a new body of work. In fact, the album’s lead single, “Good Days,” was released on December 25, 2020, and peaked at number 9 on the Hot 100 chart. It was her first solo song to chart within the top 10 of the Hot 100. Afterward, it was almost exactly a year later that SZA dropped the second single, “I Hate U.” At the end of the music video for “Good Days,” she teased “Shirt,” the third single that didn’t drop until October 2022.

Finally, almost two years after its lead single dropped, SOS was released. It was an immediate hit, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Subsequently, it stayed in that position for 10 non-consecutive weeks. This made it the first R&B album to spend its first seven weeks at number one since Whitney Houston’s 1987 eponymous album.

Additionally, it broke the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album in the US. Following the album’s release, SZA dropped videos for “Nobody Gets Me,” and the Grammy-nominated hits, “Kill Bill,” and “Snooze.” Impressively, all six singles managed to peak within the top 20 on the Hot 100 chart. As a matter of fact, only “Shirt” failed to break into the top 10, peaking at number 11.

An R&B Titan Emerges

SOS is a follow-up album that has far exceeded expectations. Only featuring Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and Ol’ Dirty Bastard, the 23-track album sees SZA bloom into an R&B heroine. It received Grammy nods in the Album of the Year and Best Progressive Album categories at the 2024 ceremony. In addition, it earned SZA seven more nominations for songs like “Kill Bill,” “Snooze,” and “Ghost in the Machine.” Overall, SOS is a monumental album, and will not be forgotten by either listeners or the artist anytime soon.

SZA Teaser Surfaces Online, Fans Call It Out As Fake

The hype for SZA’s deluxe version of her acclaimed 2022 album, SOS, is at all-time highs right now. After all, the project’s one-year anniversary is right around the corner, and fans can’t wait for her to finally unveil the teased expansion. However, social media trolls and somewhat skilled photo and video editors know that this is also a great opportunity to get some clicks feeding off of that hype. As such, somebody posted an alleged teaser that the R&B star supposedly posted on Instagram, indicating something dropping or being announced on December 8 of this year. But many fans online went to her page, saw nothing, and knew that someone played them once again.

Of course, fake teases and announcements like these are unfortunately common these days, even if many of them are pretty obvious jokes. Regardless, it got big enough for a significant amount of people to fall into the trap as they wait on official word from SZA. In fact, many might think that it’s a bit odd that there isn’t as much conversation around the deluxe right now. For example, one would think that a slew of Grammy nominations, which recently came out, would be due reason to at least remind folks that a deluxe is on the way.

Fans Call Out This Seemingly Fake SZA Teaser: Watch & Read The Replies

Regardless, we’re well aware of what’s on the way from the St. Louis native, and will patiently wait for its (likely) release ahead of the awards ceremony. It’s also been great to see how such a great body of work carried her through an incredibly successful, high-profile, and tour-heavy 2023. SZA seems to have capped things off for the year, though, or is at least close to doing so. She was a headliner for Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival last week, and to no one’s surprise, she stunned with infectious energy and a tenderly spectacular show.

Meanwhile, with more performances announced to hit stages soon next year, the 34-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down. It’s just a shame that her fans keep getting swindled by other online forces. Even though these situations will continue to pop up, hopefully each instance sees fans identifying the cap faster and faster. For more news and the latest updates on SZA, log back into HNHH.

Did SZA Say She’s Had Face Surgery In Her Career?

The SOS Tour has Grammy Award-winning musician SZA outside more often than usual, and for her, clothing is optional. From her SKIMS campaign, twerk clips shared on social media, and cinematic music videos, SZA proudly embraces her curves in every way. The songwriter’s self-confidence has come a long way since her bouts of bullying in her teen years.

On her chart-topping sophomore album SOS, SZA opened up about falling in love with her body and undergoing a cosmetic procedure (Brazilian butt lift, or “BBL”) to enhance her frame. But did SZA say she’s had face surgery in her career? Yesterday (October 30), during an interview with Hunter Harris for Wall Street Journal, the “Snooze” singer denied the growing online rumor.

“That sh*t is low-key offensive,” she said. “Not low-key, it’s high-key offensive. But what am I supposed to do? Post a debunking thread? That’s crazy. You would rather believe the TikTok thread. You would rather believe any Twitter thread; you could just Google yourself and figure it out. There were clear instances when I talked about my freckles.”

She continued, “I hear crazy sh*t about myself. I heard I had a facelift, I heard I had a nose job, I heard my teeth were fake. Now, do I need to go out and get a nose job because you all made me feel like I need one?”

Based on her response, it seems SZA wants to put the claims to bed for good.

SZA’s “SOS” Becomes Longest Running #1 R&B Album

SZA has had a spectacular 2023. After releasing her highly-anticipated new album SOS to massive critical acclaim last year, great commercial success has followed. The album scored a stunning 10-week run at number one on the Billboard 200 following its debut at the top spot. It spent an equally impressive 21 weeks atop the combination Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. But its most impressive accomplishment came on the Top R&B Albums chart and its success just turned record-breaking.

This week it was confirmed that SOS was spending its record-breaking 41st week at the number one spot on the official Top R&B Albums chart. That officially broke the record for the longest run on the top of the charts since its inception in 2013. She took the record from The Weeknd’s After Hours which tapped out after 40 weeks at the very top in 2021. Elsewhere albums like Doja Cat’s Planet Her and Bruno Mars24k Magic racked up more than 25 weeks at the top spot.

SZA Breaks Yet Another Chart Record

SZA has also achieved quite a bit of success on the Hot 100. The SOS single “Kill Bill” reached the top spot on the chart for a week back in March. When the new charts were released earlier this week she was once again on top. Her new collaboration with Drake “Slime You Out” just debuted at the number one spot. She’s the only artist to score two number-one hits so far in 2023 and her single “Snooze” just reached a new peak of its own at #3 this week.

Last week, SZA teamed up with Jean Dawson for a beautiful and multi-faceted new single. The song is already pushing two million streams on Spotify and has the chance to land among Dawson’s biggest hits. Her chart run could continue indefinitely as there’s a deluxe version of SOS with new songs on the way later this year. What do you think of SZA continuing to smash Billboard chart records? Let us know in the comment section below.

SZA & Justin Bieber Link Up For Acoustic Version Of “Snooze”

SZA has been on a roll as of late. Overall, it started all the way back in 2022 thanks to her wonderful album S.O.S. This is a project that contained some of the artist’s best songs and singles. In fact, many of these singles have been doing big numbers on the Billboard chart. As it stands, the one that seems to be doing the best is none other than “Snooze.” This is a heartwarming ballad that has proven to be one of the best tracks on the entire album. However, it seems like SZA is not done with it yet.

Today, seemingly out of nowhere, the artist came through with a gorgeous new version of the track. This version is an acoustic ballad that comes complete with a feature from Justin Bieber. Interestingly enough, Bieber was in the music video for “Snooze.” Overall, many were questioning that decision and whether or not it was ultimately necessary. Although now that we have this new version of the track, it is clear that, yes, it was necessary.

SZA x Justin Bieber

Throughout the track, we get a stripped-down version of the track that leans into the use of guitars. As for SZA, her voice truly shines here, and it is impossible to deny her talent. Justin Bieber also sounds amazing here, and it all leads to a phenomenal effort from everyone involved. Hopefully, these two collaborate again in the future.

Let us know what you think of this new version of the track, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.
