Muni Long Shows Off Her Growth On New Album “Revenge”

Muni Long has come a long way since securing her first-ever Grammy for her 2022 hit, “Hrs and Hrs.” On Friday, the songstress unleashed her second album, Revenge. On the 14-track project, she delivers all of the honesty and emotion one would expect while putting both her growth as an artist and as a person on full display.

She chatted about the project with Billboard earlier this month and called it the “R&B album of the year,” setting the bar high and revealing what she thinks fans will love about it. “First of all, you have to be a bit deluded to do this [music],” she explained at the time. “But I have to believe that even before the album is finished. I had to know that’s what I wanted to do as I’m doing it because that energy and that frequency have to be infused into the music. That’s something a lot of music is missing on the energetic and confidence level — before anyone else validates you. You can tell that I didn’t just throw these tracks together. This project was well thought out and well-intentioned. People are going to appreciate that, and resonate with the music on a deeper level.”

What do you think of Muni Long’s new album, Revenge? Which of the tracks is your favorite? Does it live up to the hype? Share your thoughts in the comments section and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates. Check it out down below.

Cash Cobain Drops His Biggest Project Yet With “PLAY CASH COBAIN”

Cash Cobain has certainly built a reputable brand off of his sexy drill soundscape. You can pretty much say that he’s essentially the sole creator of this wave in hip-hop, as there are a few copycats out there trying to replicate what he does. However, it’s not nearly going to have the same impact. The Bronx/Jamaica, Queens native’s name has become so massive that no one will probably trump him. However, in our honest opinion, that, along with some okay sample flipping, is about all we can give to PLAY CASH COBAIN.

Unfortunately, the consistent aspect holding back drill as a whole is that it’s difficult to keep each instrumental from sounding the same. This subgenre is known for its specific drum and hi-hat pattern, and it can feel as if its copied and pasted to each song. Pair that with Cobain’s constant and sometimes over-reliant usage of samples, the 19-song tracklist became kind of bore pretty quickly. Additionally, when he raps, he uses the same sort of sleepy and warbly delivery on nearly every occasion. While we appreciate Cash Cobain’s knowledge and respect of past work’s, the repetitive nature is too much to overcome in the end.

NoCap Delivers His Hyped Up Second LP “Before I Disappear Again”

NoCap isn’t your typical rapper from the south. His delivery is definitely one of the aspects in his repertoire that sticks out the most. His drawn-out melodies and rap/singing style differentiate him from the rest of the pack of your standard trap MCs. Instrumentally speaking, he’s also quite unique. Guitars are a major piece to the puzzle, as well as piano keys, lowkey hi-hats and softer drums. He definitely works in some soul influence into his approach, too. All of these elements we just mentioned pop up on Before I Disappear Again, the sophomore LP from NoCap.

This project has been highly anticipated by his fanbase, and rightfully so. NoCap has put out some of his most successful and replayed singles ahead of this 23-song set. “Baby Drake” and “Yacht Party” are currently totaling over 2.3 million streams. Also teasing this project was the August 2 record, “Maliboo”. Also giving Before I Disappear Again some street cred so to speak are the features. French Montana, Quavo, his native contemporary, Rylo Rodriguez, as well as SoFaygo and his stylistic twin (in some respects), Sleepy Hallow, also land here. See what this project can do for you with the links below.

Ravyn Lenae Lets The Experimentation Run Free On “Bird’s Eye”

Ravyn Lenae is showing that she’s willing to take chances on her sophomore album Bird’s Eye. This is her follow-up to her 2022 debut HYPNOS, and one that’s been led by some pretty great promotional tracks. The 25-year-old hypnotist from Chicago got the rollout started back in early May with her “Love Me Not / Love Is Blind” twofer offering up starkly different takes on R&B. One would say that it was great indication that Ravyn was working on trying new sounds. Then, about a month later, she would return with first-time collaborator Ty Dolla $ign on “Dream Girl”, a slick and dreamy cut about allowing yourself to fall for someone.

Finally, we would get “One Wish” with Childish Gambino, arguably the best and easily the most vulnerable track on the record. Here, Ravyn wrestles with her complicated relationship with her father. “Called me on my birthday / I thought you’d be on your way, oh / Candles burned down to the cake / Still not seeing your faceI can’t forgеt you / And I can’t hate you / No matter how hard I try“. On top of these, there’s still an even more vast soundscape to be had across Bird’s Eye. The closing “Days” presents a country/acoustic vibe to wind down to on the summer nights. “Candy” delivers more a smooth and wavy reggae vibe. Furthermore, we get hints of some early 2000s late 90’s R&B on “From Scratch”, especially instrumentally. Ravyn’s beats, writing, and vocals make for a more than memorable listen in the R&B genre this year.

Chloe Enlists Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson .Paak, Sister Halle & More For Sophomore Effort “Trouble In Paradise”

The lead up to Chloe Bailey’s new album Trouble In Paradise has been one of pessimism on the listeners’ side. One of half of the Atlanta R&B duo Chloe x Halle was being bombarded with flop predictions due to what critics feel was not enough promotion. However, the 26-year-old songstress has been taking the doubts in stride and with confidence, something that this album has plenty of. This follows up her debut from just over a year ago, In Pieces. Just looking at each of the projects on tracklists alone, you can see that Chloe feels she can work alongside some more established names in her field. Those include Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, and Anderson .Paak.

We’d say that Chloe does more than enough to hold her own on these collaborations from Trouble In Paradise. What also is showing confidence in her skills are the production choices. This 16-song set features many subsets of R&B such as contemporary, Afrobeats, and pop. What also sets this LP apart from its predecessor are Chloe’s dynamic and showstopping vocal performances. The range she puts on display is quite amazing and great examples of this include “Same Lingerie”, “Rose”, “Might As Well”, and the intro, “All I Got (Free Falling)”. Chloe told the haters she feels she can never flop because she’s making music she loves. That is apparent here and we would say it’s more so than ever before.

Cardi B’s Next Album Receives Multiple Updates Including A Handful Of Possible Titles

Cardi B has endured a lot of misfortunes and obstacles throughout 2024. Currently, she is dealing with the messy divorce from on-again, off-again partner Offset. Additionally, on a more positive note, she announced her third pregnancy just a few days ago in emotional fashion on social media. “You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do!”. Thankfully, the small wins keep coming for Cardi B as there are several updates for her sophomore album.

According to some legal documents acquired by TMZ Hip Hop, the “Bartier Cardi” rapper is wrestling between a couple of titles. Defamation of Character and Intrusive Thoughts are the two options at the moment and in that same paperwork she’s looking to trademark both phrases. Additionally, “she wants the phrases for music videos and downloadable music files, plus potential other uses”. Furthermore, Cardi B is apparently three quarters of the way done and she’s really hoping to have it out before the end of the year.

Cardi B Is Inching Closer To Her Sophomore Album

With the album names we have at our disposal, this potentially foreshadows a very personal tape. We got some hints of learning more about who Cardi is on Invasion of Privacy. However, it mostly gunned for big hits which it wound up succeeding in doing. The New York native has an incredible opportunity on her hands as she has so much topical potential based on everything she has been going through. Cardi has us on the edge of seats and we cannot wait for what’s next.

What are your thoughts on Cardi B’s album title options? With this new update in mind, how soon do you think she will drop the project now? Is this LP going to top her 2018 debut? Could this be the most important body of work she releases ever, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Cardi B. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

BLP KOSHER Embraces His Idiosyncrasies On Sophomore Album “Scarecrow”

A lot of people may be quick to dismiss Jewish rapper BLP KOSHER. His dribbling flows and sometimes overly absurd bars might turn off the traditional hip-hop fan. However, we highly encourage you to look past that because the Broward County, Florida native has a lot to offer artistically. The aforementioned qualities are two of the aspects we enjoy in addition to his versatility and beat selection. In February of this year, the 24-year-old rapper and singer began his rollout for previously untitled album. It would be through some vague promotion on social media, and it would not be until March 15 that fans got the lead offering, “Skidoo”. Then, on June 28, “Same Hat” would follow. Still, with little build-up, Scarecrow has been extremely worth the wait as BLP KOSHER is arguably at his best and most diverse.

If you caught “Violent Lullaby” in December of last year, that was just a sliver of what KOSHER can throw at his listeners. His vocal chops on that song, as well as several others on Scarecrow (“Shadow Maze” “Cobwebs”), show that they are unrefined a bit. However, they are not so off-putting that you to immediately skip the track. It goes to show that he is continuing to push himself outside of his comfort zone and be open to criticisms. Speaking of which, that is a main focus of this Bars Mitzvah follow-up. In a statement he mentions how he is embracing his oddities, and he encourages his fans to do the same.

“A collection of intrusive thoughts, life situations and messages combined. This is where weird works so please embrace your imperfections and insecurities and learn to love your inner scarecrow. They will pass right by you, laugh at you, and even fear you, but you are a star”. It is an extremely heartwarming and positive sign for hip-hop that we have artists like BLP KOSHER going and it is part of the reason why Scarecrow works so well.

Trizz & MIKE SUMMERS Tide Fans Over With Blu-Assisted “Cream”

Trizz, an underground Los Angeles, California MC, and Kansas City, Missouri producer MIKE SUMMERS (Tech N9ne) are back with “Cream”. This is the third single from the tandem’s forthcoming sophomore album, Cavi En Cursive. The highly anticipated project was originally going to be out on July 12, but they wanted to make some adjustments. Trizz hilariously let his fans know of this after a confusing time. “I’m on y’all necks! “CREAM” Ft. Blu out tonight!!! Oh yea, my album pushed till next Friday. 😂😂😂”. There is a good chance streaming users will not have access to it, as Trizz has stated on his X account that it was going to be available in physical copies only before its initial drop date. “My album will not be on Apple Music or Spotify. You have to buy it directly from me. Again, I understand if you don’t want to, that’s fine but I’m not giving my hard work out for free anymore. Please respect it. Love”.

Just based off of how Trizz carries himself in these posts, you can tell he really values the craft. That is something that will always be appreciated in what can be a popcorn market. As for “Cream”, though, him and MIKE SUMMERS are connected stably. The song pays a loving homage to the Wu-Tang Clan classic of the same, and the rapping performances from Trizz and Blu would make the members of the iconic posse proud. All of the elements –horns, synths, piano leads, and luxurious drums– all mix beautifully instrumentally speaking, too. That is no surprise, given the gems that SUMMERS dropped for his running mate on the previous singles “Alpine” and “Baseline”.

Rema Shows Why He Is Such A Thrilling Afrobeats Artist On “HEIS”

The Afrobeats genre has lately been taking on more of a mellow and sensual vibe. However, Rema is bringing a thunderstorm-like jolt of energy into it with his sophomore album, HEIS. Overall, the “Calm Down” star has continuously been dubbing himself as the next face of his respective lane and he honestly may have a strong case with this project. This all killer and no filler 11-song tracklist rarely allows to take a moment to breathe. From the blistering pace of the opener, “MARCH AM”, to probably “EGUNGUN”, Rema will make the listener dance till they drop. Displaying this much energy on any album is challenge, but when the instrumentals are so diverse, it makes it even more difficult. Rema manages to pull it off and then some on HEIS. Show-stopping performances are plentiful even just on 27-minute listen.

Some of our favorites that we are revisiting include “EGUNGUN”, “BENIN BOYS” with Shallipopi, “MARCH AM”, and the title track. Themes on this project include boastfully repping his hometown of Benin City to reminding everyone of his artistic greatness. Perhaps, the reason why Rema was able to succeed perhaps more than ever before on HEIS was due to his changed mindset. According to Rolling Stone, wanted to focus more on what his fans across the globe would get down to, rather than what he deemed as sufficient. That might sound like a mistake to some, but the results would prove otherwise, Rema seemed like he had a blast making this. “We’re not just making what the people at home would enjoy. We’re also making what we hope the world would also enjoy. I got rid of that mentality getting in the studio, like, ‘I’ll start with what I love’”.

Ayra Starr Releases Her “Coming-Of-Age Album” “The Year I Turned 21”

Ayra Starr is a budding superstar talent in the world of Afropop. But pigeonholing her to one lane would be disingenuous. The now 21-year-old from Nigeria also navigates in the lanes of R&B, Jamaican dancehall, and so much more. Those are just a few of the sounds you will hear on the sophomore album from Ayra Starr, The Year I Turned 21. “The album is packed and full of different vibes. I like to say it’s a rollercoaster of emotions, so it’s different vibes. I try to ease them into it… It just shows the variety [of the album]”.

That was a part of her conversation with People recently speaking about this LP and what it is all about. “It is a coming-of-age album. It’s very much, I would like to say, the autobiography of a 21-year-old. It’s my life and literally just how I’ve seen life, my experiences and everything”. It is safe to say that this 21-year-old is living a life that many might wish to have. Ayra Starr has put out a plethora of hit songs already, some of which land on this sophomore offering.
