Shaq And Charles Barkley Roast Each Other In “Inside The NBA” BTS Footage: Watch

Behind-the-scenes footage from Inside The NBA has emerged, showing the hilarious antics the crew gets up to when they aren’t live. The footage, seemingly taken at the All-Star Game, primarily features Shaq and Charles Barkley roasting each other. Barkley goes after Shaq for being upset that his recent Magic jersey retirement wasn’t on “real TV” but was instead aired on NBA TV. “He thought TNT should have carried it,” Barkley chirped. Of course, most people tune into Inside The NBA to see Barkley and Shaq sniping at each other like an old married couple. Back in October 2023, Barkley went after Shaq for not knowing who Slenderman was. The roasts came after Shaq was confused about Victor Wembanyama’s costume of the viral internet horror character.

Meanwhile, one relationship that is working out for Shaq is the more familial one he has with LSU star Angel Reese. Reese called him a “father figure” during a wide-ranging interview that she and other members of LSU did with USA Today. “There’s really strong parallels in their personalities. They love people. They welcome the spotlight that comes with stardom, they both have a great love for this school and an enthusiasm for life,” said Bob Starkey, an LSU assistant coach. During his long tenure in Baton Rouge, Starkey has coached both LSU legends.

However, while Shaq may live a lonely life, members of his immediate family are thriving. Me’Arah O’Neal, Shaq’s youngest child, signed a national letter of intent with the Florida Gators back in November. In a ceremony at her stepfather’s church in Texas, O’Neal chose Florida over seven other schools, including her father’s alma mater, LSU. “I went on the Florida visit, and I had a feeling that’s where I belonged. And that I was going to be most successful if I went to go play at Florida. I felt like I connected with Coach Kelly more than I connected with any of the other schools that recruited me. She really cares about me not just on the court but off the court. That’s important for me,” O’Neal said.

The #33 recruit in the 2024 class, O’Neal joins a promising Gators class that also includes #16 recruit Alivia McGill, the highest-ranked recruit Florida has ever landed in women’s basketball. Furthermore, O’Neal said that the choice to sign with the Gators was hers alone. “My family was just there to support me. I was pressuring myself to make a decision, but I learned I had to be patient. And I did make this decision on my own,” she said. The Gators have struggled this season. At the time of writing, they have a 13-11 record but are just 4-8 in SEC play.

NBA All-Star weekend was another dud for many people, but a little less so for the Milwaukee Bucks point guard. He wound up taking home the trophy for the highly competitive 3-Point Contest. Dame actually became the first to repeat since the outings in 2007 and 2008. Then, on Sunday, he would go on to take the 73rd All-Star Game MVP with a 39-point performance. GloRilla certainly felt some type of way because she was eager to snag a picture with the decorated player. She was thirsting hard for him, tweeting, “Who n**** dis is? Cause I want him #GetEmGlo.”

Love was seemingly in the air all weekend long as Shaq was making sure GloRilla knew his feelings about her. His admiration for her actually dates back to December 2022 when Shaq asked her to marry him on Druski and Glo’s Instagram Live. He commented on the stream, “glo will u marry me.” Now, after that viral moment, he finally got the chance to see the up-and-comer from the South in person.

Shaq Had To Interrupt GloRilla & 50 Cent’s Photo To Say Hello

According to HipHopDX, the NBA legend was walking around courtside during the festivities. He was giving fans as close a look as possible to what it was like to be at All-Star weekend. Shaq Cam eventually led him to GloRilla taking a picture with 50 Cent, in what had to have a cool moment for her. However, it might have slightly been soured by Shaq’s looming presence. Glo was caught off guard in the moment, clearly not seeing the seven-footer in her peripheral. He awkwardly but hilariously interrupted the photo shoot telling GloRilla, “Hello Ms. Glo! In fact, this makeshift feud led to some interesting rumors after the Super Bowl. For instance, it was said that Swift had him kicked out of the game after he took a seat in front of her sky box.

Additionally, after Kanye posted his music peaking above Taylor Swift on the charts, there was a concerted effort from Swifties to get Ye out of the number one spot. West saw this and immediately took to Instagram where he addressed a whole plethora of headlines. Taylor Swift & Ice Spice Link Up With Shaq At The Super Bowl

Taylor Swift and Ice Spice are two people who come from very different musical backgrounds. However, they have become good friends over the last year or so. Taylor got Spice to feature on the remix of her song “Karma.” Furthermore, Ice Spice got to perform at the Era’s Tour which was a huge look for her. At the Grammys, the two spent quite a bit of time together and it was all very cute. Subsequently, on Sunday, they linked up for the Super Bowl and it was all very special.

Ice Spice got to watch Taylor’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, bring home the Lombardi trophy. Overall, the game was extremely close and ended up going to overtime. The Chiefs scored a touchdown thanks to Patrick Mahomes and Mecole Hardman, which ultimately ended the game. Spice and Taylor were extremely excited and it made for a great moment. Although as it turns out, Taylor and Spice also got to meet some massive celebs at the game. For instance, the two ran into Shaq and made sure to get a picture.

Shaq towered over the two artists in the picture, although they all seemed to be extremely happy to have met up. After all, the Super Bowl continues to be a phenomenal place to network. The brief lead-in to a day of remembrance and celebration for the Hall of Famer sees Shaq lead the viewer from Kobe’s storied career. However, the line that will stand out to most is that Shaq calls Kobe the “best teammate I ever had”. While the pair found massive success together in Los Angeles, their relationship was often strained. In the end, the culture clash between the two men would lead to Shaq getting traded away from the Lakers.

Elsewhere, the Lakers have announced that they will wear their “Black Mamba” uniform variant for their February 8 game against Denver as part of a special night honoring the late Kobe Bryant. The team is due to unveil a statue of the career Laker outside Crypto.com Arena before they face the reigning NBA champions. That game will then be played with the team wearing the special uniforms that Bryant himself designed. It will be the first time that the team has worn the uniform variant since doing so during the 2020 season following Kobe’s death.

Meanwhile, An X account that shares archival footage recently shared a video of a news report about Kobe Bryant taking Brandy to his high school prom. The event happened in 1996, just months before Bryant would be drafted into the NBA. However, at the time, many of his classmates weren’t overly thrilled with the amount of attention Kobe was receiving. “It’s not Kobe Bryant’s prom, it’s Lower Merion’s prom,” one attendee noted. “Yes, this is Kobe Bryant’s prom. But it’s also everyone’s prom. This is not the Kobe Bryant prom. It’s the prom of the class of 1996,” added another.

Kobe, who was dating Brandy at the time, would arrive three hours after the prom began and was flanked by security. Despite this, a reporter was still able to ask Brandy how she felt about Kobe. As a result, the singer called the future NBA Hall of Famer “very cute”. However, the pair would quickly break up. Brandy would go on to date her “first love”, Boyz II Men lead singer Wayne Morris.

However, LSU doesn’t look like a team ready to repeat as national champions right now. They are 18-2, having suffered losses to then-No. 20 Colorado and unranked Auburn. Shaq didn’t know that Damian Lillard was going to be involved in the remix of “Shaq & Kobe” by Rick Ross and Meek Mill. “Rick sent it to me first, so I didn’t even have his permission. So, I just looped it and I went in and I was like, ‘I hope you like it.’ And I sent it to him. He said, ‘Man, you did that fast.’ So, then he hit me back, ‘Can I use it?’ And I was like, ‘Sure.’ And then he got really too professional on me — he started sending paperwork. I said, ‘Bro, you don’t need to. I don’t want no money.’ I’m like, ‘Rick, I don’t want nothing, bro.’ I’m just thankful for the opportunity to be on the song. And then when I heard Dame on it, I was like, ‘Mother effer, mother effer,’” Shaq told The Hollywood Reporter.

Shaq and Lillard have had a light-hearted beef for the last few years. They traded diss tracks in recent years as they compete for the title of “best rapper/athlete”. “In the rap game, I take it personal when they say somebody else is better than me and [you know] the name I’m talking about. So listen, I love him, good friend of mine, but I have to make sure they say, ‘Shaq is the best rapper/athlete ever.’ Ain’t no ‘Shaq and…’ Look, it’s just all fun. I don’t want to be a rapper. I tried it and the money, it was cool, but I was making more money doing other things. It’s just to drop something, go viral, read the comments,” the Hall of Famer continued in his interview with THR.

Magic Announce Shaq Jersey Retirement

Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic recently announced that Shaq’s jersey will be the first to be retired by the team. “On behalf of the DeVos family and myself and all of us here at the Orlando Magic, we want to congratulate you as we make you the first jersey number retired in the history of the Orlando Magic. You had a great career here at the beginning of your career and we had some great times!” Magic CEO Alex Martins told Shaq on Inside the NBA. Furthermore, the jersey retirement is set for February 13.

Shaq was the Magic’s first-overall pick in the 1992 Draft and helped turn the team into a serious contender in the mid-90s. Addtionally, that included a Finals run in 1995, Shaq’s third season in the league. However, Shaq’s time in Orlando would only last until 1996 when he joined the Lakers in free agency. Shaq would later say that he felt like a “big fish in a dried-up pond” in Orlando. After leaving the Magic, Shaq would go on to win four NBA titles – three with the Lakers and one with the Heat.

Orlando Magic Announce Shaq Jersey Retirement

The Orlando Magic have announced that Shaq’s jersey will be the first to be retired by the team. “On behalf of the DeVos family and myself and all of us here at the Orlando Magic, we want to congratulate you as we make you the first jersey number retired in the history of the Orlando Magic. You had a great career here at the beginning of your career and we had some great times!” Magic CEO Alex Martins told Shaq on Inside the NBA. Furthermore, the jersey retirement is set for February 13.

Jersey retirements have been something that Shaq has actually spoken on in the last few weeks. The Hall of Famer recently said that he doesn’t necessarily agree with league-wide retirements of certain player jerseys. “I hate the fact that they hang up other people’s jerseys. I hope I’m not disrespecting anybody by this term. This thing is ours. This is what we built. Michael Jordan ain’t never play for the Heat. Bill Russell ain’t never play for the Heat. You did your own thing with your little Celtics family and Chicago family. But this Miami thing? I was one of the original championship families… this is our thing. So, I don’t like that personally,” Shaq said.

Furthermore, Shaq, whose jersey is retired by the Heat, was opining on the retirements following the news that the team would be retiring Udonis Haslem’s jersey in January. Haslem’s jersey will be just the sixth jersey retired by the Heat. The other jerseys of Heat players that have been retired are Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and Shaquille O’Neal.
