Shannon Sharpe To Join “First Take,” Start Date Revealed

A day after revealing that he was taking Club Shay Shay to The Volume, it was announced that ESPN has also landed Shannon Sharpe. The NFL Hall of Famer will begin appearing on First Take alongside Stephen A. Smith on September 4, three days before the new NFL season kicks off. The news led the top of the August 24 episode of First Take, with Smith proudly announcing that he had got his guy.

Smith has been gunning for Sharpe ever since the latter left FS1 in June. However, it’s an interesting choice to bring Sharpe to First Take. He reportedly left Undisputed due to a growing rift with Skip Bayless, especially over some of the opinions Bayless held. Meanwhile, Smith definitely isn’t on the same level Bayless but, as we’ll discuss in a moment, has been on a string of buckwild takes as of late. However, Sharpe did just link up with a guy who appeared to forget that Dwayne Haskins was dead so who’s to say.

Will Smith Be Around To Debate Sharpe?

ESPN and Smith appear happy now, giving the veteran broadcaster a fiery personality to debate with. But is Smith’s future at ESPN in jeopardy? The day before Sharpe’s First Take debut was announced, Smith performed an egregious violation of journalistic practices. Amid his ongoing beef with Lonzo Ball, Smith revealed that the source of his information about Ball’s injury recovery was Ball’s own medical team.

Many people have pointed out that this is several HIPAA violations in a trenchcoat and that it was shocking that such a seasoned journalist would openly reveal this. While it’s unlikely that ESPN is going to punish their main revenue earner in any notable way, it’s the latest in a string of major Ls for Smith. At the time of writing, ESPN has not responded to HotNewHipHop‘s inquiries about Smith’s comments regarding Ball.

Shannon Sharpe Spurns ESPN For Colin Cowherd

Shannon Sharpe has reportedly found his new home. And sadly, it’s bad news for Stephen A. Smith. In a video posted by The Volume, the network founded by Colin Cowherd, Sharpe revealed that the video outlet would be his next port of call. The decision comes after a rollercoaster three months following Sharpe’s surprise exit from FS1 and Undisputed. The frontrunner for the longest time appeared to be ESPN and more specifically, First Take. Stephen A. Smith had been incredibly eager to bring Sharpe on board. However, Sharpe has taken his talent elsewhere.

“I felt The Volume was the best place for me,” Sharpe explained in a video published by the platform. An ecstatic Cowherd replied by saying he felt like he’d “landed Peyton Manning in Denver.” Furthermore, Cowherd went on to say that he wanted to land Sharpe because of his commitment. Of course, the pair worked in the same building while they were both at FS1. However, it is worth noting that the announcement specifically appeared to be about Club Shay Shay. It is unclear if Sharpe will be doing other work elsewhere on top of that.

ESPN Suffers Major Blow Losing Sharpe

Of course, the biggest losers in all of this are ESPN. It’s clear that their major talent layoffs at the end of June were in service of trying to land the free agent Sharpe. Additionally, the acquisition of the Pat McAfee brand was another move to try and convince Sharpe to join the network. They wanted to free up the capital to bring in him while also showing him that he wouldn’t have to sacrifice his brand of content. Additionally, the talent they let go of is now coming back to bite them.

Keyshawn Johnson was one of the contract casualties at the network. He’s now under contract with FS1 to work with Skip Bayless on Undisputed. ESPN made a massive play for Sharpe and it simply appears that they lost out. It’s unlikely that First Take and Stephen A. Smith are going to suffer all that much from the loss. However, it is yet another sign that ESPN is not the sports behemoth that it once was. Smith is yet to respond to the news about Sharpe.

Shannon Sharpe to Join ESPN’s ‘First Take’ for NFL Season

Shannon Sharpe Tearfully Says Goodbye to ‘Undisputed’ and Thanks Skip Bayless

Stephen A. Smith has a new debate partner. The NY Post reports former FS1 personality Shannon Sharpe will be headed to ESPN to take on Stephen A. on Mondays and Tuesdays during the NFL season. Sharpe comes over after ending his partnership with Smith’s former co-host Skip Bayless.

Sharpe is also expected to have a new home for his Club Shay Shay podcast. ESPN has not offered a comment.

At the end of the June 13 episode of Undisputed, Sharpe thanked all of the team members for FS1 and tearfully spoke highly of his time with Skip Bayless.

“Skip Bayless. You fought for me, brother. I’m here because of you. You’ve allowed me to share the stage with you. You’ve allowed me to share the platform. I’m going to cry in the car, but I’m not going to cry now. The opportunity that you gave me, to become what I became, I’m forever indebted to you. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You’ve helped me grow more than you’ll ever know. One more thing before you go, Skip. One more thing. All I ask, is when you lay your head of that pillow at night, know I gave you everything I had. I gave you everything I had.”

Stephen A. Smith Slams Reports “Confirming” Shannon Sharpe Joining “First Take”

It seemed as though the Shannon Sharpe saga was at an end on August 17. Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported that Sharpe would be joining ESPN a little over two months after leaving FS1 and Undisputed. According to Marchand, Sharpe would make twice-weekly appearances on First Take alongside Stephen A. Smith while also bringing Club Shay Shay to the network as well.

As also mentioned by Marchand, a return to ESPN would be something of a homecoming for Sharpe. It was his guest appearances on the show when Bayless anchored the broadcast between 2004 and early 2016 that would lead to the creation of Undisputed in late 2016. However, unfortunately for Marchand and The Post, they appear to have missed the mark on this report.

Stephen A. Smith Calls Post Report “A Bit Premature”

“I have a smile on my face. Beautiful smile on my face. You all know that it’s something that I want, it’s something that I have declared because I respect Shannon, I like him. I think he’d be a tremendous asset to the show, my show, First Take…But my point is that it would be great to have him,” Smith began while addressing The Post‘s “exclusive”. “Here’s the issue, we don’t. Sorry Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, it’s a bit premature. Shannon Sharpe is yet to sign on the dotted line to be a member of First Take. It has not happened yet. I’m still confident that it will happen, I still believe it will happen, I think it needs to happen. And I have doubt that I am going to exhaust every means I have available to me to make it happen.”

So yes, fans of “Unc” who were looking forward to him chewing the fat with Smith might need to wait just a little bit longer. It’s likely accurate to say that ESPN is the frontrunner for Sharpe’s services. However, Smith’s comments are the exact comment that Marchand originally said that ESPN declined to give. Given that Sharpe said he’ll be back for football season, it’s likely that his decision will be announced in the coming weeks. Despite that, for now at least, the Hall of Famer remains a free agent. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.

Shannon Sharpe Says He’ll Be Back On TV “To Cover Football Season”

There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Shannon Sharpe. The NFL Hall of Famer left Undisputed on Fox after seven years immediately after the NBA Finals. According to reports, a growing rift with co-host Skip Bayless led to Sharpe’s depature. While Undisputed appears to be moving on with the likes of Lil Wayne, Richard Sherman, and Rachel Nichols, Sharpe’s next step is still something of an unknown.

Of course, there’s a lot of push for him to join ESPN. Stephen A. Smith has explicitly said that he wants Sharpe to join the crew of First Take. While Sharpe has had his fun with those rumors, no official move has been announced. ESPN is still coming off massive talent layoffs in June. They would likely like to avoid the backlash they saw with bringing on Pat McAfee in the midst of that “cost-cutting” if they were to add Sharpe. However, the network did also just sign a $2 billion betting partnership so who knows where they now stand on massive talent contracts. Now, Sharpe has further teased his return to the small screen.

Sharpe Promises Fall Return To TV

“Don’t worry I’ll be back on tv soon to cover Football season 🫣🏈. These vacations are needed but, it’s too hot out here! I’m going back inside to the A/C where there’s cameras, microphones, and @leportiercognac 🥃📸🎙,” Sharpe said on X on August 9. Sharpe made no mention of where he would be appearing but it’s a promise of his return nonetheless. NFL preseason has already kicked off but the season proper begins on September 7. The Chiefs will host the Lions in the NFL Kickoff Game. Other highlights of Week 1 include a Monday Night Football showdown between the Jets and the Bills.

So where is Sharpe headed? The most likely answer is ESPN, where he will likely become a regular on First Take as well as have a new home for Club Shay Shay. However, there are several other major networks looking for star power. FanDuel is looking to fill the void left by McAfee’s own departure to ESPN. Plus, the betting giant also has seemingly endless money. However, with football season fast approaching, we don’t have long to wait before we found out where Sharpe’s next chapter will be.

BIA Runs Into Shannon Sharpe On A Plane

Shannon Sharpe is someone who is incredibly popular when it comes to the sports commentary world. Of course, he was on Undisputed with Skip Bayless for the better part of seven years. However, he has since left the show, which is now on hiatus. Overall, Sharpe was the heart and soul of the show. Without him, Undisputed simply wouldn’t be worth watching. Although Skip would beg to differ, it is highly likely that fans won’t enjoy the new version of the show.

Subsequently, fans are waiting to see what Sharpe’s next move will be. He has his Club Shay Shay podcast. However, that is only a small facet of what he is capable of. At this point, many are expecting him to join ESPN, especially in light of all of the recent layoffs. That said, Shannon Sharpe was recently traveling this past week and found himself on an airplane. Sharpe is a frequent flyer, and he just so happened to run into a fellow celebrity.

BIA x Shannon Sharpe

Rapper BIA was on the flight as well, and she got to sit right next to the NFL legend. The artist posted on Twitter about the encounter, saying “Shannon Sharpe & me chatting about life.” BIA is a successful artist in her own right, and her profile continues to rise. Needless to say, there were probably plenty of things she could have learned from Sharpe during their conversation. Perhaps she can even be the next guest on his podcast.

As for Sharpe’s future, we will just have to wait and see what happens. For now, it seems as though the Denver Broncos Hall of Famer will be looking to keep things on the DL until further notice. There are plenty of networks, outlets, and publications that would love to have Shannon. However, that is going to come with a price, and rightfully so. He is at the height of his popularity, and we don’t foresee that changing anytime soon.

Stephen A. Smith Says He’s Proud Of Shannon Sharpe

June 13 marked the last time Shannon Sharpe would host UNDISPUTED. After seven years, the NFL Hall of Famer left the talk show he co-hosted with Skip Bayless. Reportedly, the relationship between Sharpe and Bayless had drastically deteriorated, prompting Sharpe to leave Fox for greener pastures. Sharpe’s final day was marked by the bizarre retweeting of an adult content creator and a moving behind-the-scenes video of his final broadcast.

Sharpe’s departure was yet another seismic shift in the sports media landscape. It came less than a month after Pat McAfee announced that he was leaving FanDuel to join ESPN. While many people have commented on Sharpe’s tearful departure, some of the most insightful thoughts came from Stephen A. Smith. Smith is in a unique position to comment, having also spent considerable time as a co-host to Bayless. The pair co-hosted First Take between 2012 and 2016.

Stephen A. Says He’s “Proud” Of Sharpe

Smith addressed Shannon Sharpe’s final day on his show. “Shannon Sharpe said goodbye on FS1. I’ll confess, I was a bit surprised. I was surprised at the tears. I was surprised at the emotion. I’m quite sure that some people out there thought it was fake as hell. And I was really, to be honest with you, I was proud at the way they ended their time together. And again, I’m assuming, because I don’t know, that the feelings weren’t everything that was expressed in Shannon Sharpe’s sign-off. Because in this business, you just don’t see things happen that abruptly.”

He continued. “But I got to tell you, it could not have been handled any better by Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless. That’s how you do it….Shannon brought up all the great points that he should have brought up, and there’s nobody on the planet that can relate to what Shannon Sharpe had to say to Skip Bayless better than me. And that is that.” Smith also praised Bayless for his role in forging numerous careers. Sharpe’s next landing spot is still unknown, but ESPN has been floated as a possibility. Shannon Sharpe Shares Behind The Scenes Video Of Last Day At Fox

Shannon Sharpe has officially left UNDISPUTED. After seven years, the NFL Hall of Famer left the talk show he co-hosted with Skip Bayless. Additionally, the relationship between Sharpe and Bayless had reportedly drastically deteriorated, prompting Sharpe to leave Fox for greener pastures. However, what those greener pastures actually are remains to be seen.

Sharpe tried to keep it together on his final show. However, as things began to wind down, Sharpe couldn’t hold back his emotions. “I’m here because of you,” Sharpe said to Bayless, fighting back tears. “You’ve allowed me to share the stage with you. You allowed me to share the platform. The opportunity that you gave me, to become what I became, I’m forever indebted to you. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You helped me grow more than you’ll ever know.” Later, Sharpe raised some eyebrows after retweeting a show of support from an adult content creator.

Sharpe Gives BTS Of Final UNDISPUTED Show

On June 14, Sharpe shared a nearly five-minute video of his final day at Fox. It starts with him pulling up and heading to his dressing room, which has been covered in balloons and pictures. He puts on his iconic yellow chequered suit and heads to make up before heading to the studio. Along the way, Sharpe hugs pretty much everyone he runs into. In the studio, he shares a few jokes with Skip Bayless before addressing the production crew and his daughter. He takes special care to shout out his dedicated assistant for all the work she’s done for him.

After filming, he heads to a small party that’s being thrown for him, complete with his favorite donuts. He toasts the crowd, finishing with “to 7 wonderful years and many more to come”. We see him signing out of the building and heading back to his car. Finally, we see Sharpe driving off into the future. Furthermore, the video was posted alongside a caption. “I can’t thank you all enough. From the people at Fox, to my Family, Friends, and loyal Followers. Join me as I go into my next chapter.”

Shannon Sharpe Tweets Before He Looks

There has been an outpouring of love for Sharpe in the hours after his final show. However, one response from the former tight end has raised some eyebrows. Sharpe responded “Appreciate the support” with three praying hands emojis in response to the Twitter account @lawalexisss saying “Undisputed is dead to me” in reply to a TMZ article about Sharpe’s tearful goodbye on UNDISPUTED. However, @lawalexisss is the sort of account that major media stars typically don’t interact with if they are looking to avoid controversy.

Alexis’ Twitter bio begins “Daddy’s princess 💎 | Law student 👩‍🎓 Probably I will save you from going to jail 💗.” Furthermore, her pinned tweet is a raunchy mirror selfie with the caption “Looking for someone to film a 🌽🎥 with for my page…” followed by a link to her Snipfeed account. Snipfeed is a site popular among adult content creators. Many people have pointed out in the comments that Sharpe likely meant to quote-tweet the TMZ article, rather than Alexis’ tweet. However, the tweet is still up at the time of writing. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe it wasn’t. However, what we do know is that it’s a hilarious way to leave your flagship show after seven years. Sharpe’s next landing spot is still unknown. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHip.

Shannon Sharpe Tearfully Says Goodbye to ‘Undisputed’ and Thanks Skip Bayless

Shannon Sharpe’s run on Fox Sports’ Skip and Shannon: Undisputed is officially over. At the end of the June 13 show, Sharpe thanked all of the team members for FS1 and tearfully spoke highly of his time with Skip Bayless.

“Skip Bayless. You fought for me, brother. I’m here because of you. You’ve allowed me to share the stage with you. You’ve allowed me to share the platform. In the wake of the departure of Shannon Sharpe from the popular FS1 talk show Undisputed, sports enthusiasts are eagerly speculating about who will step into the esteemed analyst’s shoes.

Fueling the rumors and intensifying the anticipation, Bovada, a renowned online sportsbook, has recently unveiled its live betting odds on who might join forces with the outspoken host, Skip Bayless, on the highly acclaimed show. Leading the way for Sharpe’s replacement is Sean Salisbury at +130, followed by Kendrick Perkins at +600.

The full run of odds is available below.

Sean Salisbury +130
Kendrick Perkins +600
Chris “Mad Dog” Russo +700
Nick Wright +700
Scottie Pippen +800
Chad Johnson +900
Brian Dawkins +900
Ray Lewis +900
Marcellus Wiley +900
Tom Brady +1500

Sharpe was long believed to work his way out of FS1, especially after he and Bayless clashed on air over Damar Hamlin’s injury.

Following a controversial tweet from Bayless about Hamlin’s injury, Sharpe did not show up to Undisputed. A day after his absence, Shannon Sharpe returned to the Undisputed desk, and the fireworks immediately went off between him and Bayless.

In a monologue, Sharpe explained his absence and stated he didn’t agree with Skip’s tweet. “Skip tweeted something and although I disagree with the tweet, and hopefully, Skip will take it down…”

Skip would interject and state, “Time out — I’m not going to take it down because I stand by what I tweeted.”

The two would go back and forth briefly before Shannon deflected to the show’s moderator to continue forward with the show.

You can see the moment below.

Shannon skipped the Tuesday broadcast, according to TMZ, because he was “upset” with Skip Bayless’s offensive Damar Hamlin tweet, in which he questioned why the NFL would postpone a crucial game so late in the season. The outlet added that the network is uncertain as to whether Sharpe will report for duty on Wednesday.

In the episode that aired the following Tuesday, Bayless took the opportunity to retract his remarks and explain his intentions.

The Post also notes Sharpe’s relationship with LeBron James, who Bayless relentlessly goes after, contributed to the departure.
