Where Is Parking For Austin City Limits 2023?

October is here. Time for Pumpkin Spice Latte, Taylor Swift —at football games, in theaters, or on the charts, take your pick — and Austin City Limits. The latter’s 2023 iteration will be staged this weekend, October 6-8, and next weekend, October 13-15, with headliners Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, and Mumford & Sons. The other big-text artists are Odesza, The Lumineers, Shania Twain, Alanis Morissette, The 1975, and Hozier. You can find all of the acts’ set times here.

But before you can enjoy any ACL performances at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas, you’ll have to find somewhere to park. According to the festival’s official website, Zilker Park does not offer parking. However, per the site, “Pavemint has partnered with ACL Fest to provide parking for festival attendees with Pavemint’s smart parking solution.” Parking reservations can be made here. The website additionally clarifies, “There is limited accessible parking available near the festival on a first-come, first-served basis to vehicles displaying an appropriate state-issued plate or placard.”

The festival will kick off on Friday, October 6, with the likes of Delacey, Portugal. The Man, Lil Yachty, Little Simz, Maggie Rogers, Kali Uchis, The Revivalists, The Lumineers, and Kendrick Lamar. (Lamar will also headline on Friday, October 13.) Foo Fighters will deliver headlining sets on Saturday, October 7, and Saturday, October 14, while Mumford & Sons will headline on Sunday, October 8, and Sunday, October 15.

Megan Thee Stallion Popped Up At The CMT Music Awards And It Was All For ‘Hot Girl Shania’ Twain

Megan Thee Stallion is having a hot girl spring. The beloved Houston rapper threw out the ceremonial first pitch for her hometown Astros on MLB Opening Day last Thursday, March 30, and Billie Eilish loved to see it as much as Meg loved to do it. The following day, Meg staged her first performance of 2023 at the AT&T Block Party in Houston, before capping off her weekend at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas for the 2023 CMT Music Awards last night, April 2.

The multi-platinum artist was there to present Shania Twain with this year’s Equal Play Award. One Meg fan account captured the moment and circulated video on Twitter. Meg was flustered – “I don’t wanna cheese this hard because I just met her, and that’s my new bestie; she’s Hot Girl Shania!” – before commending Twain as “an outspoken ally against every hate of all kind — calling out gender caps, ageism, impacting inequalities against the LGBTQ+ community, and more.”

Read Twain’s full acceptance speech below and watch it above.

“Let me start by saying, let’s go girls! Now, listen, when I wrote the phrase, ‘Man! I feel like a woman,’ honestly, I had no idea at the time that it would become an undercurrent of a decades-long career. It’s amazing how just one statement can empower so many, and ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!‘ has been adopted by an array of fantastic communities all around the world and become a genuine path of power and progress for, I mean, women in country music, right? Which brings me so much joy.

Thank you to CMT for pushing the Equal Play agenda, and thank you for always supporting me. In fact, you know what? You may not know this, but the CMT Rising Star Award was my very first award. Ever. Thirty years ago. That was in 1993. So, CMT holds a very special place in my heart, and I promise I will continue to champion the many outstanding country artists who are not currently played. They’re not streamed, toured, signed, or awarded at the level they deserve.

I believe in an all-inclusive country music. We’re a family. This is a genre of music with a rich history that raised and nurtured my own songwriting and performance and recording career from childhood. Currently, the industry standard does a real disservice to this. Now, let us, the country music industry, do our part to close the gap and provide an equal workplace for all talent.

This year, I’m taking many amazing artists on my Queen Of Me Tour. Lily [Rose], Tenille [Townes], Lindsay [Ell], Hailey [Whitters], Breland, Robyn [Ottolini], Priscilla [Block], Mickey [Guyton], and several more. And my hope is that this opportunity and spotlight impresses you much and lifts up the careers of these very talented people on their journey. I will continue to do my best as a trailblazer, and together, let’s ensure that all our fellow artists get equal play regardless of gender, age, or race. Thank you again for honoring me with the CMT Equal Play Award, and a special thank you to all my fans! I’m truly touched.”

Shania Twain Says She Had To “Flatten” Her Chest To Avoid Stepfather’s Abuse As A Teenager

Shania Twain opened up about the abuse she suffered as a teenager at the hands of her stepfather in a new interview with The Sunday Times. Speaking with the outlet, Twain explained that the trauma had a lasting effect on her body image.

Detailing the sexual and physical abuse her stepfather, Jerry Twain, subjected her to growing up, Shania explained that she would attempt to flatten her chest for safety.

“I hid myself and I would flatten my boobs,” the singer said. “I would wear bras that were too small for me, and I’d wear two, play it down until there was nothing girl about me. Make it easier to go unnoticed. Because, oh my gosh, it was terrible — you didn’t want to be a girl in my house.”

She continued: “Then you go into society and you’re a girl and you’re getting the normal other unpleasant stuff too, and that reinforces it. So then you think, ‘Oh, I guess it’s just s—ty to be a girl. Oh, it’s so s—ty to have boobs.’ I was ashamed of being a girl.”

All-in-all, the abuse had a lasting effect on her comfortability expressing her femininity as she became a global superstar.

“All of a sudden it was like, well, what’s your problem?” she explained. “You know, you’re a woman and you have this beautiful body? What was so natural for other people was so scary for me. I felt exploited, but I didn’t have a choice now. I had to play the glamorous singer, had to wear my femininity more openly or more freely. And work out how I’m not gonna get groped, or raped by someone’s eyes, you know, and feel so degraded.”

The interview with The Sunday Times comes a month after the 25th anniversary of her classic album, Come On Over.
