On June 21, it was reported that Scottie Pippen was about to lose half of his retirement fund. Documents obtained by The Blast revealed that on June 16, a judge ordered that Larsa Pippen be given half of her ex-husband’s accrued retirement fund from 1997 to 2016. It’s unknown how much money he will have to give up. However, it’s estimated to be a sizeable amount given he made $109 million from his NBA contracts alone.

Scottie is yet to make a statement about the settlement. However, the day after it was signed, he posted an image that read “You can’t spell a million with a couple L’s. Keep pushing.” to Instagram. Now that the memes about the situation have begun rolling in. Moreover, It Is What It Is host Cam’Ron couldn’t help but get in on the action.

Cam’Ron took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the Pippen situation. His post comprised the news image from No Jumper as well as an image of Pippen waiting at an airport luggage carousel. “Nah we gotta watch scotty he on a mission!! According to court documents, a judge has ruled that Larsa is entitled to 50% of Scottie’s NBA pension fund. Signed on June 16, the court order ruled that part of the divorce settlement includes half of the account’s total between when they married (1997) and when they formally separated (November 2016). Furthermore, Larsa is entitled to the full amount that she is owed. This is regardless of whether the fund can currently afford to pay that out. This means that Scottie will have to compensate Larsa if the amount in the pension fund is less than half of what the 1997-2016 total was.

Despite this, splitting retirement funds is a common practice during divorces in California. The amount, which must be paid into Larsa’s account as a “cash lump sum”, was not made public in the documents. It’s a rare piece of good news for Larsa, who has been the subject of scrutiny in recent weeks. Her relationship with Marcus Jordan has raised a number of questions, and eyebrows. While Pippen didn’t directly name his pick for the overall greatest player of all time, it certainly isn’t Michael Jordan. From there, he explained why he believes Jordan to be so overrated. “I’ll leave that up for debate, because I don’t believe there’s a great player because our game’s a team game, and one player can’t do it,” Pippen said. “I saw Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls. You guys saw him play. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was all one-on-one, he’s shooting bad shots, and all of a sudden we become a team and we start winning and everybody forgot who he was.”

In addition to Pippen and Jordan being teammates throughout the 1990s, Jordan’s son, Marcus, is now dating Pippen’s ex-wife, Larsa. Pippena and Larsa finalized their divorce back in 2021.
