JAY-Z “Double-Dipped” From Roc-Nation, Dame Dash Alleges

Dame Dash has accused JAY-Z of “double-dipping” from Roc-Nation. “Make another HOV? Why the f-ck would I make another HOV? He was double dipping. We were paying him highly as an artist and he was double dipping from the company and it didn’t make me a lot of money. He did not generate $100million a year for me — I don’t want to make another HOV,” Dame said on his America Nu podcast.

However, Dame wasn’t finished. “I did make a Kanye, a Cam’ron, pause, or help. And you know, after you do that I don’t have to do anything else. But what I did do was the next year, I started another company called Rachel Roy and it generated over $100million a year. So, I didn’t make another HOV, I made another $100million company,” he continued.

Dame Dash Accuses JAY-Z Of Musical Theft

Furthermore, this is just the most recent accusation that Dame has made about Hov. In December, Dame accused Jay-Z of stealing from other artists. “Jay had a pattern of jacking n-ggas records. Jay has a [track] record of getting on a record after it gets hot and now he can perform that record and now it sounds like he made that record — that was his model … That’s f-cked up to the person that [made the song],” Dame claimed. His comments were made in defense of Cam’ron deleting a Hov verse from “Oh Boy”.

Despite this, Young Guru came to the defense of Hov. “CAP on this narrative that jay STEALS songs 1. Jay got “I just want to love you” directly from Pharrell and made the song from scratch. Sparks says a Rick James hook. 2. “Can I get” was Irv’s idea, literally said “Jay get on this record but please keep JA” I love you OG but nah,” Guru wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Do you agree with JAY-Z or Dame Dash? Let us know in the comments.

Doja Cat, Kodak Black, And Adekunle Gold Bring High-Level Performances On Jeymes Samuel-Produced “JEEZU”

The Book of Clarence film and soundtrack produced by British multi-talent Jeymes Samuel are in full effect. The music is being talked about a lot in particular. That is thanks in large part to JAY-Z’s contributions. He and Roc Nation were catalysts in bringing both pieces of art to fruition and they are delivering in a big way. Again, the music is getting a lot of praise, especially the Doja Cat, Kodak Black, and Adekunle Gold track “JEEZU.”

Since the movie focuses on religious themes, so too does the music. Adekunle brings booming vocals right from the jump. The production from Jeymes is epic and soulful with woodwind and organ elements, as well as nicely-placed gunshots. Kodak surprises with great lyricism and honesty about his life. Then, Doja Cat comes in with a hungry attitude.

Oh, you mad now? Oh, you hurtin’, shawty need a signature
.” That is just one of the fantastic lines in her verse. Doja is proving again and again that she is a top-flight MC in the current state of hip-hop regardless of how you feel about her.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “JEEZU,” by Doja Cat, Kodak Black, Adekunle Gold, and Jeymes Samuel? Roc Nation’s Team ROC Sends Request To Investigate Kansas City Police Department

Roc Nation Jay-Z

Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by rap legend Jay-Z, is once again stepping up its fight for social justice. Team ROC, Roc Nation’s philanthropic and social justice division, has set its sights on the Kansas City Police Department, requesting to investigate allegations of corruption and misconduct within the department.

No Justice, No Peace

It has been revealed that Team ROC, Roc Nation’s philanthropic and social justice division, has requested to investigate allegations of corruption and misconduct within the Kansas City Police Department.

In collaboration with the Midwest Innocence Project, Team ROC  submitted a records request to the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department on Nov. 16 to obtain information regarding the department’s alleged misconduct.

Thanks To Team ROC

This initiative comes on the heels of Team ROC‘s successful push for the arrest of former KCPD officer Roger Golubski, who faced accusations of preying on and sexually assaulting Black women and children during criminal investigations.

The recent letter to the Kansas City Police Department also requests any documents related to complaints or investigations pertaining to Golubski. The Kansas City Police Department has faced multiple instances of police brutality and excessive use of force, further fueling the need for scrutiny.

One such case involved Officer Jeremy Gragg shooting an unarmed Black man, Malcolm Johnson, in 2021, an incident captured and shared widely, sparking community outrage. Another incident involved Officer David Frazier, who threw Mack C. Nelson onto the ground in 2022, forcefully pressing his face into the pavement.

The Request

The request highlights various troubling allegations against the KCPD, including the use of excessive and unnecessary force, instances of sexual harassment and assault, and the violation of citizens’ civil rights by police officers.

“For decades, there have been numerous troubling allegations against the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department (“KCKPD”),” the request reads. “Among those allegations have been: (1) KCKPD officers use of excessive and unnecessary force and battery; (2) sexual harassment and sexual assault; and (3) conspiracies by KCKPD officers to violate citizen’s civil rights.”

The request also read:

“Disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute to the public’s understanding of KCKPD practices by shedding light on issues that have long been shielded from public view.”

Citing the public interest in disclosure, Team ROC also emphasizes the need to shed light on these long-hidden issues and contribute to the public’s understanding of the KCKPD’s practices. Leveraging the Kansas Open Records Act, which allows for public inspection and copying of records maintained by public entities, Team ROC gains access to pertinent information about the KCPD.

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Team’s Advocacy Placed Pressure on Police Department To Arrest Corrupt Kansas Police Officer

Roc Nation’s advocacy has led to the indictment and arrest of Roger Golubski, a former police officer, on six federal crimes. Immense pressure was applied to the Kansas City Police Department after Roc Nation sued the department for alleged misconduct and corruption.

Victorious Roc Nation

Roc Nation is celebrating the arrest of Roger Golubski, a former Kansas police officer, who is facing federal civil rights charges.

The arrest was announced by the United States Justice Department on Thursday, a year after Roc Nation sued the Kansas City Police Department for alleged misconduct and corruption.

In 2021, Team Roc called for an investigation into the department after allegations against Golubski were revealed.

Golubski was named in a lawsuit filed by Lamonte McIntyre, who was wrongfully convicted for murder and incarcerated for 23 years. The lawsuit alleged that Golubski framed McIntyre for the crime after his mother turned down his sexual advances.

Dania Diaz, Roc Nation’s director of philanthropy, released a statement.

“We continue to stand in solidarity alongside the people of Kansas City, Kansas, who have been patiently for justice and accountability. The arrest of Roger Golubski is a significant step toward creating a safer community, and we applaud the Department of Justice for their commitment, diligence, and thorough work on this investigation.”

Golubski has been indicted on six federal counts for crimes that he allegedly committed over 20 years ago.

He stands accused of sexually assaulting two women “while acting under the color of the law.” According to the prosecutors, Golubski raped the women multiple times between 1998 and 2002.

These also include incidents in and next to his vehicle and in one of the victim’s home. Kidnapping is also alleged in the indictment.

In an open letter to the United States Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, Diaz said:

“We are committed to holding these so-called public servants accountable for alleged rampant acts of brutality and exploitation and request a meeting with the DOJ to discuss our findings—findings we hope will move you to act. These allegations require the urgency the Kansas City, Kansas community deserves.”

If convicted, Golubski faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Roc Nation Take On RICO, Police Brutality & Criminal Justice Reform

A few months ago, Roc Nation assembled a coalition of social justice leaders from various industries for a summer summit.

The summit took place during the midterm elections in the US. It is the latest initiative to leverage the power of hip-hop culture to address police brutality and criminal justice reform.

Diaz said Roc Nation hopes the summit will bring about political action and engagement.

Jay-Z’s Team Roc Doubles Down On Calls For Kansas City Police Transparency

Jay-Z’s Team Roc has teamed up with the Midwest Innocence Project to fight for criminal justice reform and they have one specific target. That’s the Kansas City, Kansas police department often shortened as KCKPD. After public callouts from advocates for transparency from the KCKPD following numerous high-profile controversial incidents, Midwest Innocence Project is now taking a more technical approach filing some new paperwork.

According to AllHipHop, they’ve filed a request under the Kansas Open Records Act to try and access numerous internal documents from the department. Included in their request are complaints filed against the police department as well the resulting internal investigations and disciplinary actions. They’re also requesting the results of an FBI investigation into the police department. That comes in line with Team Roc’s request last year that the Department Of Justice open up an investigation into the department.

Jay-Z Once Again Making Push For Social Justice

Last year, the FBI arrested a former detective from the police department. He was booked on charges related to abuse of power and sex trafficking of underage girls. They also investigated the former police chief of the department Terry Ziegler. Calls from groups like Team Roc and the Midwest Innocence Project have claimed that the corruption and mismanagement of the department goes even deeper than what was already investigated.

Last week, Jay-Z made the headlines when his full interview with Gayle King finally aired. After teaser clips had been circulating, the entire three hour interview aired on TV last Tuesday. After it aired, N.O.R.E said that he wished Jay did the interview with him, Talib Kweli, or Joe Budden. It’s unclear what his exact issues with the interview itself were. In the interview, he also hilariously told a story where one of his teachers was stunned by his reading abilities. What do you think of Team Roc’s new push for transparency in the controversial KCKPD? Let us know in the comment section below.

Roc Nation Hosts Informative Community Event for Manhattan Plaza and Hell’s Kitchen Residents

0W9A1715

Roc Nation, in partnership with Caesars Palace and SL Green, held the first of two community events to inform local Manhattan Plaza and Hell’s Kitchen residents about their collaborative bid for a state-of-the-art gaming facility in Times Square.

Catered by the renowned Melba’s, The Purple Tongue venue in the neighborhood served free lunch and dinner meals to local attendees, giving them a taste of what the entertainment facility could bring to the neighborhood. During lunch, guests learned more about the bid’s extensive community programs, aimed at powering this new project.

The 10-year plan, representing a $206 million investment, includes an elaborate network of security, sanitation, traffic mitigation, and Broadway plans to revitalize the area and the entire city. It also allocates $10 million for student debt relief, a partnership with members of Actors’ Equity and Local 802, and $20 million to extend childcare services to the Broadway labor force in collaboration with Bright Horizons and Actors Equity.

Notable figures like Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, IMPACT Strategies CEO Angela Rye, and New York music artist Fat Joe were present to connect with residents and discuss neighborhood plans.

“An interesting point to Roc Nation’s involvement in the bid,” Angela Rye reflects, “is there is an investment in daycare. There’s an investment in sanitation. Who doesn’t want more sanitation investment in New York? There’s an opportunity for job creation where there are 6,000 jobs and significant economic opportunity.”

“One thing about Roc Nation and Jay-Z is we keep our word,” Fat Joe said. “We are out here constantly giving back, showing New York we’re here for New York. Now is your time to have ownership, go somewhere, and feel like it’s yours. We’re homegrown, I don’t know what more you would want. We’re for the people.

Roc Nation, founded by New Yorkers and entrepreneurs from Brooklyn and The Bronx, is committed to the community’s welfare and economic growth through their partnership with Caesars Palace and SL Green.

The second and final day of the event will take place on Tuesday, 10/17.

Is Megan Thee Stallion Still Signed To Roc Nation?

Based on “Anxiety” rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s latest social media posts, she could be entering into a new era. In this new cycle, the H-Town hottie could be wiping the slate clean in all areas of her life, including her professional partnerships. Yesterday (October 12), during a live stream on Instagram, Megan dropped a major bombshell on her fans.

“I have no label right now. And we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets,” confessed the musician. This unexpected revelation has made fans ask, is Megan still signed to Roc Nation? According to the current roster page on their official website, the answer is yes.

But it is important to note that when Megan inked a deal with Roc Nation in 2019, the reported terms of their agreement were solely to handle her management needs. The press notes also reflected this for Megan’s extended partnership with the Flamin’ Hot brand. So, her alleged claims that she’s a free agent might only apply to the record contract side of her business dealings.

It is unclear if a final legal decision has been made in the ongoing trial of Megan and her former record label, 1501 Entertainment. During yesterday’s broadcast, Megan confessed that she is excited to be an independent artist again for the first time in years.

Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

This summit is unique because it focuses on facilitating open conversations among leaders, experts, and advocates across various fields committed to making a difference in justice. This inclusive approach aims to inspire conversations and ideas to drive meaningful change.

The first wave of confirmed speakers includes Grammy-nominated artist Fat Joe, author/professor Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, and Angela Rye, CEO of IMPACT Strategies, among many others. It gathers influential figures, each offering their unique perspective on justice reform.

The event is open to the public at no cost, fostering a community of individuals taking public action to address the world’s most pressing challenges and activating resources nationwide.

Beyond the powerful speakers and panel discussions, the summit will feature dedicated stations providing legal information, networking sessions, and an organization exhibition area with over 60 national and local non-profit organizations showcasing their mission and resources.

In a bid to tell the stories of change and activism, an art gallery and retail area will be included, leveraging the creative talents of speakers to ignite meaningful conversations.

“The UJC is committed to creating an experience where individuals from all backgrounds can come together to take action around key justice issues and reforms in our country,” UJC founding member and Roc Nation managing director Dania Diaz said. “Together, we want to exchange resources and ideas to support advocacy efforts and help tackle the challenges affecting communities across America.”

The inaugural UJC Summit in 2022 set the stage for this year’s event, bringing together a dynamic lineup of activists, entertainers, attorneys, and experts to address critical topics in the realm of justice.

As the second annual United Justice Coalition Summit approaches, it promises to further the dialogue on justice reform and highlight pathways toward positive change.
