Fat Joe has declared 2024 as possibly the bleakest year in Hip Hop’s history—not because of the music, but due to the relentless drama surrounding its public figures. During his appearance on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast, released Tuesday (December 17), the Bronx legend didn’t hold back as he expressed his frustration with the state of the culture.

Joey Crack pointed to the ongoing issues between his close friends Remy Ma and her estranged husband, Papoose, as a prime example of the chaos enveloping the industry. Adding their public rift to a laundry list of woes, Joe reflected on how difficult it has become to maintain privacy and integrity as a public figure in Hip Hop.

“I woke up in 2024 like, ‘God damn it!’ It’s been a horrible year,” Joe lamented. “I was just having a heated discussion with my people. This might be the worst year ever in Hip Hop history, type shit. This shit bad. All our legends, all our mentors getting scrutinized. This is the worst time to be a celebrity in the history of mankind. I’m not sure you guys wanna be celebrities.”

He continued with a mix of frustration and disbelief, saying, “I got friends who are filthy rich that wanna be popping, wanna be celebrities. I don’t think they understand what comes with it. This shit crazy out here. It’s nuts. The world done changed on me. You can’t make it up!”

When the conversation turned to Remy Ma and Papoose, Fat Joe spoke candidly about his disappointment over the couple’s public turmoil. As a close collaborator of Remy’s and the godfather to the pair’s six-year-old daughter, the Bronx MC said he feels powerless to mend their relationship.

“It’s a hard situation,” Joe admitted. “I don’t like none of that shit. What I can’t do is stop it. They won’t listen to me.”

He elaborated on the delicate nature of intervening in a marital dispute, stating, “Nobody comes to my house and tells my wife shit. This is your husband. I can’t get in the middle of that, that’s y’all. I wish this didn’t happen.”

Joe also shared a poignant anecdote from the night before the couple’s latest public spat. According to the Lean Back rapper, Remy Ma had treated him and several others to a lavish dinner at a New York City restaurant, seemingly indicating that things were calm within her circle.

“I woke up in the morning, and my phone was going crazy,” Joe recalled. “They were like, ‘Yo! What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘What the fuck?’”

The speculation that Papoose was part of the dinner group was quickly debunked by the man himself. Taking to Instagram Stories, Papoose addressed the rumors, clarifying, “Peace to my brother @fatjoe. I think y’all misunderstood his interview. I was not at @brooklynchophouse with them. I do spend thousands of dollars there regularly. I love that place!”

As 2024 continues to unfold, Fat Joe’s reflections paint a sobering picture of Hip Hop’s challenges beyond the music. Whether it’s the scrutiny of its legends or the deeply personal struggles of its stars, this year has proven to be one of the most tumultuous yet.

Papoose & Claressa Shields Vs. Remy Ma: A Guide To The Messy Online Feud

Celebrity relationships suffer in the public eye regularly but what transpired between Remy Ma, Papoose, and boxing gold medalist Claressa Shield last week was the breaking point in a year filled with speculation. Their relationship between Remy Ma and Papoose has been on the rocks as of late, especially as rumors surface that the “All The Way Up” rapper has been in an extramarital relationship with battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain.

Things took a turn when Remy Ma put Papoose on blast for his secret relationship with Claressa. The Terror Squad MC shared texts messages between Pap and Shields, revealing a supposed affair. However, things began spiralling afterward, eventually leading to Remy Ma and Clarissa Shields proposing to step into a boxing ring.

The Text Message Leak & Divorce Plea

In an unexpected turn of events, Remy Ma accused Papoose of infidelity, sharing text messages between her husband and Claressa Shields. The two argued after Pap seemingly failed to tell Claressa Shields that he made it home in one piece. “Papoose dum ass fell asleep on the phone with @claressashields. Laying in my house he refuses to leave,” Remy captioned the screenshot. “This b*tch supposed to be a world champion boxer and get scary ass hung up soon as she heard my voice. Nowww I’m telling everything ohhhh and babygirl u not the only one.”

In response, Papoose revealed that he tried to file for a divorce in the past as their relationship crumbled. He referred to her as a narcissist and cheated on him often. “Now that I finally moved on, she’s playing the victim,” he wrote. “She rather clout chase on social media. Than handle this like civilized adults. I did not wanna do the social media foolishness. For the sake of my 6 year old baby.” He reiterated that he didn’t speak publicly on the issues, especially with a child that has to go to school and potentially be exposed to the headlines surrounding their marital issues.

Claressa Shields Chimes In

As things unfolded, Claressa called Remy in the comments of her photo, revealing that the rapper allegedly has two boyfriends, though Remy Ma refuted this. Then, Remy claimed that Shields’ publicity team continued to put out fake stories in an attempt to paint her negatively and make Papoose “look like God’s gift.” “I Begged [Papoose] to put out something to stop the narrative and he kept telling me just stay quiet, that that’s the best thing to do… welp I’m tired oh and he said, he would never f*ck [you] cuz you ugly but don’t worry I saw EVERYTHING now the world gonna see it since you so tough.”

Tea continued to spill on the internet following Papoose’s response. Remy Ma shared more screenshots from his conversation with Shields who told Pap to mitigate the situation with his wife before her PR team freaks out, especially since she has a movie coming out. However, Remy Ma fired back, claiming that Papoose threatened to leak intimate content of herself as a form of retaliation.

“Papoose u f*ckin Dummy! Hey Ms Shields, he took your advice but not before I screenshot yall convo. Oh, he was getting me arrested, the woman that NEVER fucked off on him in 17 years! While plotting with ONE OF his chicks to try to destroy me. The same woman that could’ve BEEN used my platform to expose you. I got all your pics and messages from the chicks while I was away and he was ‘holding me down,’” she wrote. “ASidebar: he bout to say he wrote me rhymes. IMAGINE THAT, and if anything sexual leaks about me it was him cuz he threatened that too.”

Claressa swiftly fired back on Twitter without mentioning names. “Misery loves company baby…. Smh. I’m just so happy over here… I can’t believe a 45 year old woman is crashing out like this clown behavior,” she wrote.

Papoose & Eazy The Block Captain Clash

Rumors surfaced in the past thath Papoose and Eazy The Block Captain got into a physical altercation, though those claims were eventually brushed aside. Apparently, the relationship between Remy and Eazy began getting even more serious as time passed, and Pap confirmed that the two did get into a fight. Pap claimed that Remy Ma spent last Christmas with Eazy The Block Captain while he was with her daughter with photo evidence to back up the allegations.

“I told her we could divorce like adults. She refuses to do that because I wouldn’t lie & say I didn’t knock this chump out. I sitll got the messages of her begging me to lie about the knockout. But who cares! He didn’t throw 1 punch back #supersoft Last time I saw this chump, he was in the fetal position. Everybody saw it!” Pap wrote. He also accused Remy Ma of leaving with Eazy for four days while he was taking care of their daughter. “I didn’t knock him out because he slept with my wife. I knocked him out because he shook my hand, and then slept with my wife,” Pap wrote.

Eazy didn’t add much to the conversation but he did address Pap on his story. “Telll pap to unblock me I want to holla at you,” he wrote, alongside a duck emoji. However, he hopped on a livestream where he shared his side of the story.

“That n**ga knew already!” he stated. “I know he up there trying to play victim and all of that sh*t but they knew, he knew two years ago. I ain’t going to lie… he did knew. And I’m going to tell you all how he knew… The n**ga you all think is so thorough, he put a recording device in Remy’s car, so how he knew is, bugging her f**king car. So that how he knew. That n**ga’s a f**king weirdo.”

A Response Out Of Boredom? Claressa Shields Proposed Boxing Match

Considering that Claressa Shields can throw hands, it came as no surprise that she wanted to settle the ongoing online feud with Remy Ma in the ring. As things heated up, Shields shared a tweet with a proposed date for a potential boxing match. “Claressa Shields vs @RealRemyMa Feb 2nd! Come get yo ass whooped crash out!!” Shields tweeted. The proposal undoubtedly garnered attention across the board, including a mention from 50 Cent who urged Shields to retract.

Eventually, Claressa Shields explained that she only responded to Remy Ma out of boredom. Though some didn’t necessarily believe that was the case, she insisted that she does “not give a f*ck” about any of the parties involved. “ Listen to me, I do not give a f*ck about so much sh*t,” she explained. “I be bored responding, needing something to do.”

Shortly after, she shared a video of herself in the ring with a perceived jab towards Remy. “Btc couldn’t take me, even If I tied one hand behind my back call me ‘Danger’! #Claressashields #GWOAT,” she wrote.

What’s Next?

So far, it seems that things have died down publicly. Remy Ma hasn’t responded to the possibility of a boxing match while footage of Pap supporting Shields resurfaced in the midst of the online kerfuffle. Nonetheless, it seems like Remy and Pap might be better off dealing with these issues quietly behind the scenes without any input from Eazy or Claressa.

Scrappy Warns Married Couples After Papoose And Remy Ma Cheating Scandal

Wednesday night was rough for Papoose and Remy Ma. The latter blasted her longtime husband, and fellow rapper, Papoose, on Instagram. She accused Papoose of cheating on her with professional boxer Claressa Shields. She posted screenshots of a text conversation between the rapper and Shields and the internet had a meltdown. Remy had previously been accused of being unfaithful. Scrappy was one of these critics. The Love & Hip Hop Star has changed his tune, though.

Scrappy hopped on Instagram on Thursday to address Remy Ma’s bombshell. He ultimately saw it as a teachable moment. “It’s very unfortunate,” Scrappy admitted. “But we don’t know what folks be going through behind closed doors.” The rapper then dove into a discussion about marriage, and the difficulties that ensue. “That sh*t is hard,” he remarked. “You gotta have the right person.” He then warned other couples to not make the same mistakes as Papoose and Remy. As far as Scrappy is concerned, finding the right person means avoiding a lot of turmoil. “If you the right person it won’t be so hard,” he stressed.

Conversely, if you are with the wrong person, than Scrappy believes it’s a losing game. The rapper told his Instagram followers that it takes a very strong person to recover from being cheated on. He doesn’t make any bones about it. He also credits dishonesty and cheating for being the reason why some people do not want to get married again. “If you ain’t strong enough,” Scrappy posited. “You’ll probably never do it again.” It’s fascinating to contrast the rapper’s statement with his previous comments about Remy and Papoose.

Scrappy vented about the Papoose situation in January. He believed the New York rapper was not getting sympathy he deserved. “Ain’t nobody standing up for Papoose saying, ‘Aw man, we sorry that sh*t happened to you,” Scrappy posited. “‘Shawty did you dirty!’ We ain’t hearing none of that sh*t, my n**ga.” The rapper did admit, in retrospect, that he didn’t really “know what happened” when he spoke on the matter.

In July, Remy Ma and Papoose’s marriage status was a toss-up. Her latest release with Fat Joe may have gave some clues. A post on The Neighborhood Talk reveals that her song credits use her maiden name, Remy Kioni Smith, instead of other recent releases that carried Papoose’s name, “Mackie.”

In June, Eazy the Block Captain caught the Internet’s attention after he called Remy Ma his “favorite person” in an Instagram post celebrating Remy’s birthday. The two had been long rumored to be dating, leaving questions about the status of Remy Ma’s marriage to Papoose.

No one has explicitly spoken about either relationship, leaving some fans questioning whether Eazy and Remy just have a powerful friendship.

But in December 2023, alleged audio of Eazy The Block Captain hit YouTube, detailing to a friend that Remy and Pap’s marriage was over.

On this date in 2000, M.O.P.’s Billy Danze and Fame joined forces with Terror Squad’s First Lady Remy Ma, The Conglomerate general Busta Rhymes nad crew member to polish off the remix of their classic stick-em-up hit “Ante Up” on the Loud/Relativity imprint.

Pulled from their fourth full length studio album entitled Warriorz, Billy and Fame recruited producer DR Period for the production as well as famed NYC DJ Funk Flex to give an energetic intro to the song. The infectious horns incite the track’s hype level, making it a club banger as well as a pep song for any situation where that “brooklyn” energy is demanded.

The video was shot by director extraordinaire Little X in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn and features several artists and Hip Hop personalities including  Gang Starr, Lord Have Mercy, Easy Mo Bee, Ralph McDaniels, DJ Green Lantern, Buckshot of Black Moon, Steele of Smif-N-Wessun, Method Man, Afu-Ra, and Tony Touch.

Ante Up was also featured in several silver screen classics such as Brown Sugar, You Got Served and even made it on an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Salute to Billy, Fame, Teflon, DR, Buss-A-Bus, Remy and everyone else who was a part of making this a piece of Hip Hop history!

Remy Ma Pushes The Nude Boundaries In “Outta Control” Visuals Alongside Fat Joe

Remy Ma, Fat Joe, and producing tandem Cool & Dre, have a newish collaboration together, “Outta Control”. The track is just over a month old and even with that much time passing, it’s still generating buzz. Originally, the bars were up for debate, particularly on the part of the fiery femcee. “They said I shot a friend over a band, and? / Imagine what I’d do to a b**** that I can’t stand / Right now, I’m on the edge, so don’t push me“. If you aren’t familiar that first line is a real-life reference to when Remy shot Makeda Barnes-Joseph back in 2007. This led to her receiving convictions of assault, possession of an illegal weapon, and attempted coercion in 2008.

Listeners were in an uproar and wondering why she chose to rap about that with such braggadocio. In addition, the July 12 cut was also getting the community talking because of the name she used in the writing credits. Instead of attributing her work to Remy Mackie, one that Remy’s been using since marrying Papoose in ’08, “Outta Control” was penned by Remy Kioni Smith. That would happen to be her maiden name, further suggesting that her and the fellow NY MC were done.

As we said earlier, the single is not done in terms of sparking more talk on the internet. For Joe Crack, the reception might not be as favorable, but for Ms. Ma, she may have some men googly eyed. All that is covering her chest is her long black hair and the video isn’t shy about showing several shots of this “outfit”. You can check out the visuals for yourself with the link above.
