Bush will now receive his trophy back. We don’t know what this means for his ongoing lawsuit against the NCAA, but it might be resolved in the near future.

Johnny Manziel has announced he will boycott the annual Heisman Awards in support of Reggie Bush. “After careful thought and consideration I will be humbly removing myself from the Heisman trophy ceremony until @ReggieBush gets his trophy back. Doesn’t sit right with my morals and values that he can’t be on that stage with us every year. Reggie IS the Heisman trophy. Do the RIGHT thing @NCAA the ball is in your court,” Manziel wrote on X.

In 2021, the NCAA settled a different defamation suit. Todd McNair, USC’s running backs coach between 2004 and 2010, sued the NCAA after he was linked to the Bush infractions scandal. Bush is hoping that he too can score a victory against the collegiate sports behemoth. Furthermore, Bush’s legal team has also launched an online petition to garner support for his case. Their goal is hit to 10,000 signatures.
