Big Sean Extends His Thanks To Tyler Perry For Highlighting His Grandmother’s Story

Big Sean and Tyler Perry found an unexpected but heartening connection via the latter’s upcoming film The Six Triple Eight, which plays in select theaters starting Friday (December 6) before streaming on Netflix starting December 20. On Tuesday (December 3), the Detroit rapper attended a screening for the movie alongside his mother, and spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his vested interest in it. Moreover, he and his mom held a picture of their grandmother and he thanked the director and media mogul for telling the story she’s a part of. For those unaware, The Six Triple Eight tells the story of the Charity Adams-led 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, a predominantly Black unit of the U.S. Women’s Army Corps at the end of World War II.

Big Sean’s grandmother was one of 855 non-white women who served in this unit. “Just the impact, I’m just so, so thankful. I told Tyler Perry, when I talked to him, how thankful I was because it’s kind of such an overlooked, crucial piece of American history and Black history,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “The Six Triple Eight [6888] battalion connected millions and millions – over, like, 17 million pieces of mail – where there was no other means of communication to families and information and just loved ones.

Big Sean Thanks Tyler Perry

“They were fighting their own war being, you know, strong Black women during segregation and fighting for their country,” Big Sean continued. “So I’m just proud of them. Not just my grandmother, proud of all of them. I was so happy to be raised by such strong Black women that are, like, embedded in my DNA and I’m forever grateful for it. And It’s a super emotional night. My grandma was incredible, and I’m sure all of these women [were].”

Meanwhile, Big Sean has more big things on the way, and it looks like the “It Is What It Is” MC is really enjoying his recent moves and experiences. As for Tyler Perry, we will see how this film lands with audiences, although from Sean’s words, it sounds like an inspiring holiday flick. Jennifer Lopez says she wouldn’t have been able to make it in Los Angeles without the help of Jamie Foxx, who she worked alongside on the iconic series, In Living Color. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly for a recent interview, she admitted: “If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have made it through that season.”

Moving from New York City, she explained that the shift to Los Angeles was nearly too difficult to bear. “That was when I first got to L.A…. I used to [go back to New York] every weekend ’cause I was so lonely — I hated it, I missed my family,” she told Jharrel Jerome. “Jamie and I, we became really good friends, and we’re still friends to this day, honestly. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have got through that. I might have moved back to New York, and none of this would have ever happened. We would not be here right now.”

Cam Newton Makes Shocking Admission About Marriage Plans For Jasmin Brown

Cam Newton says that marriage with Jasmin Brown is not his “ultimate goal” for their relationship although he does want them to get married. He discussed his future plans with Brown during an interview with Sarah Fontenot on the latest episode of his Funky Friday podcast. Additionally, he argued that couples “trauma bond” over the idea of marriage and children.

“That’s the way that the propaganda of life that everybody has been putting in our faces to say, ‘ok get married, have kids, whatever.’ Not overlooking or not identifying that, that’s still a way for the devil to look or dwell in,” Newton explained. He added that he sees his relationship with Brown as the two “growing together.” He explained: “When you’re living in your truth, a lot of people want the benefits without also accepting the bulls**t. But when you cite the source of who that comment is coming from, you’re not mine either.”

Tokyo Toni has smoke on standby. As a reality star and rapper, she has built a reputation on dissing other celebrities. Generally, these celeb are in her orbit, but she decided to go beyond said orbit on December 4. Tokyo Toni went off on Khloe Kardashian, after the reality star decided to post video of herself helping out a homeless man. Kardashian had previously distanced herself from the idea of publicizing charitable acts, which is something Toni took as a personal slight. The gloves came off on Instagram Live.

“It sounds like you don’t do that,” Tokyo Toni told viewers. “You put him on TV too. B*tch you are a homeless case.” The reality star proceeded to call Khloe Kardashian a hypocrite for trying to publicize her kind act. Things then took a turn for the personal. Tokyo Toni’s daughter, Blac Chyna, shares a kid with Khloe’s brother, Rob Kardashian, and Toni makes it sound as though she was never a fan of Khloe. “The day that Dream was born,” she alleged. “I told that b*tch don’t ever play with me.” Tokyo Toni had plenty more to say about her relative. “I haven’t gone in on them b*tches in eight years,” she added. “And you wanna f*cking undermine what I do, b*tch.”

Tokyo Toni Claims Kardashian “Undermined” Her Actions

The alleged undermining stemmed from a seemingly harmless Instagram comment. Khloe Kardashian responded to a user’s question by explaining that she does not like to publicize charity events. “I don’t feel it’s right to publicize that for my own personal pat on the back,” she wrote. “To each their own. I’m only speaking for myself.” Tokyo Toni took this as a direct dig, given that she has frequently posted IG videos of her helping out those less fortunate. The reality star also claimed that Kardashian blocked her on Instagram.

“Out of the countless comments you could’ve chosen to engage with, Khloe,” Toni noted. “Someone in reference to me?. In a way that totally undermines my work.” Tokyo Toni has been extremely critical of the Kardashian family in the past, but as she noted, it has been a while. Her decision to haul off and go after one of the family members surprised many. Fans will have to wait and see if Khloe Kardashian decides to respond.

Andrew Schulz Accuses Kendrick Lamar Of Using Him For Clout After “GNX” Diss

Last month, Kendrick Lamar took fans by surprise by unleashing his new album GNX with zero notice. Immediately, listeners got to work picking apart the lyrics of each song, including “wacced out murals.” On it, Kendrick calls out an unnamed white comedian for making jokes about Black women, leaving fans to speculate. “Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that’s law,” he raps.

Right away, many began to theorize that this bar was aimed at Andrew Schulz, who received backlash for perpetuating negative stereotypes about Black women on his Flagrant podcast in October. Shortly after the album dropped, DJ Akademiks claimed he reached out to Schulz about the line. Allegedly, he responded to it by asking “Is this guy too woke to understand a joke?” Now, Schulz has addressed the line directly on an episode of his podcast, making it clear that he doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong.

Andrew Schulz Thinks Kendrick Lamar Is Being Hypocritical

In a clip from the episode, Schulz sarcastically states that “nobody has respected women more through art than rappers,” suggesting that Kendrick’s line was hypocritical. He goes on to bring up Kendrick’s previous support of alleged abusers such as Chris Brown, arguing that the rapper is worried about protecting Black women from the wrong people. Schulz even speculated that Kendrick’s apparent call-out was only for clout. “What a time to be alive where rappers gotta talk about comedians for clout … You’re welcome, how many views did I give him?” he wondered.

For obvious reasons, Schulz’s remarks have earned mixed reactions from other X users. While some think he’s onto something, many are seriously questioning his suggestion that Kendrick was trying to use him for clout. After all, Kendrick didn’t even say Schulz’s name. For this reason, it’s still unconfirmed whether or not he was actually referring to him. “One sentence got this man fuming,” one X user writes. “He cooked,” someone else claims.

While they’ve been feuding for months, the latest drama kicked off when Banks criticized Charli XCX’s appearance. “Charli used to be soooo pretty,” she wrote. “Ugh. Boaaa, I swear them weho gays be having the girls questioning themselves meanwhile they all scraping k off a cookie sheet, eating cold bossanova and sharing panties. Tuh.” Charli is engaged to Healy’s The 1975 bandmate, George Daniel.

An account that appears to be Healy, as noted by Uproxx, replied to the post: “Azealia you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to your ‘reads’. All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people. I think this makes you jealous cos you’re so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro.” When Banks clapped back that they both look like they, “share needles,” Healy then wrote: “I now you think your life is some episode of the library is open but I am not the one. Talk to me like that I’m not gonna side eye you at an awards do I’m going to f*cking slap you so hard I’ll get a Guinness world record for the highest a rat some b*tch calls a wig has ever flown.”

Serena Williams firmly shot down rumors about bleaching her skin while discussing her beauty routine during a recent Instagram Live session for her Wyn Beauty brand. The clarification comes after a recent video from her daughter’s school play went viral and sparked all kinds of fan theories.

“And no, for you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin,” she said. “There is a thing called sunlight and in that sunlight, you get different colors. And, if I’m not posting and recorrecting my pictures and posting from my daughter’s– she had a play that I was volunteering on and had stage makeup on. Yes, I’m calling you out on this because it is ridiculous that everyone’s like, ‘Oh, she bleaches her skin.’ I’m a dark Black woman and I love who I am and I love how I look. And, that’s just not my thing. If people do it, that’s their thing and they have every opportunity and they should. I don’t judge. But you guys do. That’s what this world is about and I stay in my lane, the non-judgy one.”

Draya Michele’s Ex Boyfriend Tries To Evict Her From Their L.A. Home

Draya Michele and her ex boyfriend, Tyron Taylor, did not end on good terms. The model ended her relationship with the former NFL star recently. There was an attempt to work out a civil living situation, in which Michele would rent out the L.A. property that Taylor bought for the both of them. Taylor, however, is not thrilled with this arrangement. The Neighborhood Talk reports that the former NFL star has tried to call the police a dozen times on Draya Michele. His intention? To get her evicted from the property.

The plan, per In Touch Weekly, was for Draya Michele to rent and eventually purchase the L.A. property from Tyron Taylor. Things quickly took a turn for the worse, however, when Michele started a relationship with Jalen Green. Shortly after Michele and Green’s relationship went public, Taylor apparently changed his mind. He allegedly filed an eviction lawsuit against Michele, without telling her. Draya Michele entered a default judgement as a result, claiming that she was never properly served. Taylor’s rebuttal is that he sent the eviction notice via mail, and is therefore not responsible for her lack of awareness.

Draya Michele’s stay has not been a comfortable one, as a result. The model claimed that she got a call from a nanny while away on business in November. She stated, via court documents, that sheriffs were called to the property and telling the nanny, as well as her children, that they had to leave. “The sheriffs were at the subject property to lock the occupants out of the subject property,” Michele added. Michele contacted her lawyers, who sprung into action and prevented the lockout. The model claims that it was only after this encounter that she learned of Taylor’s eviction notice.

Draya Michele claimed she originally tried to purchase the property for $2.8 million. Taylor countered, allegedly, with $3.2 million, which the model accepted. Michele stated that she has paid $19,000 per month in rent, in addition to spending $270,000 on home renovations. She accused her ex of failing to uphold his end of the deal. Taylor, on the other hand, has denied any wrongdoing. His lawyers reported that Michele has only been able to produce an “unsigned lease, an unsigned purchase agreement, and emails evidencing at most negotiations.” There’s clearly more to come in this property saga.
