Pitbull Has Purchased The Naming Rights To FIU Football’s Stadium

Florida International University’s football program plays in a 20,000 seat stadium in Miami. Recently, the university has been on the lookout for a new naming rights sponsor for the building — it is presently known as FIU Stadium after previously being known as Riccardo Silva Stadium from 2017-22, named after the Miami FC owner who wrote a check to take care of renovations. College football is, truly, an insane sport.

Anyway, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN, the stadium has a new sponsor, and once again, an individual’s name will be on it. This time, that person is Pitbull, the artist and Miami native who is affectionately known as Mr. 305. The stadium will be known going forward as Pitbull Stadium.

Thamel went on to report what both sides will get out of this deal, and the stipulations are pretty incredible.

As part of the deal, according to the documents, Pitbull will create an anthem for FIU, post about the school on social media 12 times a year and appear at one athletics fundraising event per year throughout the term of the agreement.

Pitbull will get use of the stadium 10 days per year throughout the term of the deal and the vodka company he owns will be the preferred brand distributed in the stadium. There’s also perks like two reserved suites for all home football games.

To return to something I said earlier: College football really is an insane sport. FIU football, which has only been a program since 2002, is coming off of back-to-back 4-8 campaigns, and has not made it to a bowl game since 2019. They’re currently coached by Miami native Mike McIntyre, who has been at the helm since 2022 and is well-known for his stints as the head football coach at San Jose State and Colorado. It is unclear if Pitbull has ever gone to an FIU game, but I hope he does sooner rather than later.

‘French Pitbull’ Is Trending After Viewers Noticed An Olympics Opening Ceremony Performer’s Uncanny Resemblance

The 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris turned out to be a grand spectacle, with Lady Gaga putting on a dazzling show on the banks of the Siene, metal band Gojira putting in an unexpected appearance alongside a reminder of the French attitude toward royalty, and a performer that viewers couldn’t help comparing to an American peer with dog-themed name. Incidentally, it wasn’t Snoop!

As French rapper Rim’K, a long tenured fixture of the French hip-hop scene, performed, Twitter’s trending topics lit up with mentions of “French Pitbull” as viewers noted his uncanny resemblance to Mr. Worldwide.

Rim’K is of Algerian descent, and regularly references the country in his often political songs. He released his debut album, L’enfant du pays, in 2004, reaching No. 8 on the French charts, and he’s continued releasing music at a fairly impressive clip until recently; his last album, Mutant, came out in 2018 and peaked at No. 6 on the French charts. Rim’K is also a member of the group 113 and the larger collective Mafia K-1 Fry. He’s credited for introducing Maghrebian folk rhythms to rap, and is considered one of France’s premier rappers.

Speaking of dog-themed rappers, Snoop Dogg carrying the torch has sparked its own run of hilarious jokes.

Pitbull And T-Pain Are Bringing 00s Vibes Back With “Party After Dark Tour”

Pitbull and T-Pain dominated the 2000s. It was tough to go more than a few minutes on the radio without hearing their voices on hits like “Hotel Room Service” and “Buy U A Drank.” Both artists symbolize good times in a club setting, whether they were the main artist or the feature, so it makes perfect sense that they’d join forces for the upcoming “Party After Dark Tour.” The North American tour will kick off August 21 in Virginia, and culminate October 5 in New Mexico.

Pitbull and T-Pain hyped up the tour on their respective social media accounts. “Get ready! I’m heading your way for the #PartyAfterDarkTour w/ special guest @TPAIN,” the former wrote on Instagram. “Tix on sale Friday at 10am. Daleeee.” T-Pain, meanwhile, tweeted: “HEY BABY GIRL WHATCHU DOING THIS FALL??? I’m going back on the road with my brother @pitbull.” If the sight of these two aughts icons wasn’t enough to delight fans, specific dates on the tour will also feature appearances from Lil Jon. These specific dates include stops in Washington and California.

Pitbull and T-Pain have a brief but impressive track record. They scored a massive hit out the gate with 2011’s “Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor),” which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. They followed it up with “Shake Senora,” then took a decade break before reuniting for “Lit In the City” last year. Both artists have continued to tour, but Pitbull did stir up controversy during a 2021 show in which he attacked critics of the United States. “To whoever the f**k doesn’t like the United States of America,” he said onstage. “May God bless you, but f**k you at the same time. He later said he credited his huge success to living in the U.S. and therefore felt very passionate about the country.

That was then, however. Pitbull is back to making people dance, because that’s what he enjoys the most at the end of the day. He reflected on his “party rapper” status during an interview with the San Diego Tribune. “They always looking at Pitbull like, ‘Oh, he’s just the party guy. He’s just making these club anthems’,” he noted. “[I] put these records out because I knew that people would enjoy them and it could feed their wild side.” This “wild side” is exactly what Pitbull and T-Pain will be feeding on tour.

Tickets go on sale starting April 26 at 10 a.m.

Doja Cat Album Leaks Aren’t Phasing Singer, She Names Pitbull In Her Big 3 Rappers

From 2009 to 2011, Pitbull was one of the dominating voices in the music industry. From “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” to “Give Me Everything” with Afrojack and Ne-Yo, he never disappoints. If there’s anyone who knows how to get the party going, it’s the Miami-born entertainer. Now, Doja Cat is wondering why people don’t give Pitbull his flowers more often.

On Wednesday (April 3), the California native asked, “HOW is Pitbull not in the big three???????” This prompted her Twitter/X followers to ask who else Doja would rank alongside the Spanish-speaking icon. “Chingy and Baby Bash,” she declared. When someone suggested replacing the former with “Low” hitmaker Flo Rida, the femcee decided to change her list to a top four and add him in too. “Yaaaaass 😍,” Doja enthusiastically responded.

Elsewhere on Twitter/X, the 28-year-old is growing frustrated with people complaining to her about the deluxe version of Scarlet surfacing online early. “Idk why you guys care so much about leaks,” she replied to one concerned user. “I mean it’s lowkey disrespectful if you set a date and people are dropping it early w/o permission,” a fan explained their stance to Doja.

“No it’s definitely messed up,” she agreed. “‘Cuz I wanted to put it out myself but there’s nothing I can do about it!!” the multi-talent added, keeping a calm head amid the mercury retrograde shenanigans. “That’s just how it’s gonna be, but at least I can just keep being creative and look forward to the awesome things I have coming up!!” Elsewhere, Doja Cat spent a few minutes arguing with people insisting that she cares about her streaming numbers and encouraging stan accounts to think for themselves before getting caught up in anger over things that are out of their control.

Jada Pinkett-Smith Posted A Selfie That Has Fans Thinking Fat Joe Is Her 2024 Style Inspiration

On New Year’s Day, it’s common to see people posting their resolutions and intentions for the year ahead, but doing so backfired for one celebrity. Jada Pinkett-Smith, who’s been in the headlines a bunch lately as she promotes her memoir with a collection of eyebrow-raising pull quotes, posted a selfie showing off her latest style innovation, but got a slightly different than perhaps she had hoped.

“I think jean leg warmers is where it’s at for me in 2024,” she wrote. However, the combination of Pinkett-Smith’s doe fur-patterned puffer jacket with her signature bald look and aviator shades brought to mind another popular social media personality: Fat Joe. Many of the commenters wondered whether the Bronx rapper had more weight, while others imagined Jada’s husband Will Smith’s reaction.

Others, meanwhile, found another rapper comparison in Pitbull.

The comparisons were enough to raise “Fat Joe” to the top of Twitter’s trending topics, along with “Pitbull” and “Jada.” And down near the bottom of the top 30, another reference to the photo appeared as of press time: “Skinny Joe,” fans’ apparent new nickname for Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Jada Pinkett-Smith has been the butt of jokes all year as a result of her press tour, but at least this time, they aren’t ALL about her and Will’s unconventional marriage.

Pitbull Returns After A Four-Year Hiatus With “Trackhouse”

One of the biggest artists in the world is back after quite a long break. He is one of the most influential singers in the Latin music space. Whether you love or hate him, you cannot deny he has been a force ever since he began making hits back in the mid-2000s. That artist is Pitbull and he is back after a four-year gap between his last album, Libertad 548.

Mr. Worldwide’s newest effort, Trackhouse, is out now on all of your favorite streaming platforms. Pitbull began the rollout for this project back in early March with the song, “Mami.” From that point on, he put out six more lead singles. In fact, some were released up until the LP’s release date on October 6.

50 Cent, Missy Elliott, And Usher Will Headline Lovers And Friends Festival When It Returns This Spring

Like Aaliyah once said, “If at first, you don’t succeed, you can brush it off and try again.” That seems to be the strategy the Lovers And Friends Festival is going with this spring (you just know Aaliyah herself would have been on the lineup), bringing back the nostalgic event for a second attempt at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on May 6. Today, the fest announced its millennial-baiting lineup, which features TRL faves like Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, and of course, the fest’s inspiration, Usher, whose 2004 hit is the festival’s namesake.

Unfortunately, Lovers And Friends Festival has had a bumpy road so far, starting with its first planned iteration in Carson, California in 2020. Numerous artists on the original lineup initially denied their involvement after the show was announced before their respective booking agents let them know they were on the c/o 2000 fever dream lineup. Once they were confirmed, demand for tickets skyrocketed, prompting the organizers to add a second day before the COVID-19 pandemic put the kibosh on the whole event.

However, a revamped version of the festival came back in 2022, moving to Las Vegas and reverting back to a one-day fest. This turned out to be kind of a bad idea, as logistics for the fest were kind of a mess, leaving fans without shade or water in the 100-plus-degree desert heat (which tends to go the other way at night, leaving fans freezing instead). Then, there were reports of gunfire, causing stampedes and thankfully minor injuries.

Hopefully, they can learn from those mistakes as they return this spring and give fans the show they deserve because as an elder millennial (or Xennial or whatever you call us), I for one am extremely tired of having the rug pulled out from under me. Let us have something nice, for once. Please and thanks.
