Nicki Minaj Mocked Her Haters Over The Fact That She Broke A Spotify Record For ‘Pink Friday 2’

Nicki Minaj continues promoting her new album, Pink Friday 2, including appearing alongside Joe Budden. During the interview, Minaj did not hold back her feelings about breaking the Spotify record for an album from a female rapper.

“Spotify 24-hour streams… Someone’s only popping ’cause there wasn’t nobody else out,” she mockingly said, using a line that her haters probably have to discredit her achievement.

“So, you remember people saying this stuff?” Budden asked in response, as Minaj simply went “Ah.”

“People did say this stuff,” he added.

From that moment, fans have been loving how energetic she was. At another point during her conversation with Budden, Minaj was asked about the line in “FTCU” that many have speculated as being a diss, although it’s still unclear about who. (“Stay in your Tory lane, b*tch, I’m not Iggy,” is the lyric in question.)

“It could be shade to a few people,” Budden noted.

“Well, without thinking about it being shade to a few people, what do you think the line itself means?” Minaj questioned back.

“‘I’m not one of them,’ and I think it was a clever way to say that,” he replied.

Nicki Minaj Salutes J. Cole For Out-Rapping Her On “Let Me Calm Down” Off “Pink Friday 2”

During Nicki Minaj’s recent interview with Joe Budden, they spoke about her love for female rappers, her new album Pink Friday 2, and so much more. However, one of the most compelling and, for hip-hop fans, fulfilling parts of their talk came when she put her promo aside to give props to a truly excellent verse on the project. Moreover, Roman shouted out J. Cole for having, in her opinion, the better verse on their collaboration, “Let Me Calm Down.” The track is an easy standout on this new LP, and one that both MCs do a great job of attacking. In fact, it’s funny how Budden tried to even the playing field, but the Trinidadian superstar still admitted that she got trounced.

“Boy, [you were] bold for even calling Jermaine Cole, ’cause he’s been on a rampage,” Joe Budden told Nicki Minaj. “He’s been tearing n***as up, he been tearing n***as up. He didn’t do it to you, though!” which caused her to laugh. “Yes, he did,” the 41-year-old conceded. “Yes the f**k he did. I’m just telling you that he did. Abso-f***ing-lutely. I want the person to be the best, I want the person to give me the best verse. Like, that made me know that he respected me and cared about my project.”

Nicki Minaj Declares J. Cole Had The Better Verse On “Let Me Calm Down”: Watch

Previously, Nicki Minaj expressed heartfelt gratitude and happiness concerning this team-up on Twitter. “This man J. Cole had a 2 hour talk with me. 2. Two!!!!” she wrote. “Didn’t realize I was sitting on a therapist couch but ummm 2 days later I heard this verse & couldn’t stop crying. The end. In a world where we know EXACTLY how & WHEN to tear each other apart, there are still Kings & Queens who know how to put ppl back together. Patch them up. Heal them. Empower them. Understand them. Listen to them. Make them do the most beautiful thing a human being can do. Smile.

“After having #papabear I couldn’t wait for the day he’d smile @ me,” she continued. “First smile? It was one day when I blew a kiss @ him. I said ‘papa mmuuuaahhhhh!!!!’ then? Time froze. Froze. He smiled? He smiled. At Me? Looking directly in my eyes? Yes. Me? Held back the tears & just kept doing a billion more times. I cried later. I’ve been trying to make him smile every day since… lol he actually makes me crack up laughing all the time. No idea where he got all that personality from but y’all pray for me. Anyway, Cole… It’s been a long time coming, but the barbz welcome you with open arms to #GagCity. We appreciate you. We hope you stay.” For more news and updates on Nicki Minaj and J. Nicki Minaj Caused Chaos Among The Barbz By Dropping A Ranking Of Her Own Albums On Social Media

Nicki Minaj’s new album, Pink Friday 2, has only been out for a few days — but it seems the rapper has some thoughts about how it compares to her past records. Today, she took to Twitter to share her ranking regarding her discography. And fans had a ton of reactions to the placements.

Given its recency and her love for it, Minaj put Pink Friday 2 at the top spot. After that, in second place, she had her 2014 album, The Pinkprint.

To round out the top five, Queen came at No. 3, the original Pink Friday was at No. 4, and Minaj’s Pink Friday Roman Reloaded (The Re-Up) was No. 5. She also made a point to note that anyone’s rankings are valid.

“But I truly respect all gag city resident opinions,” Minaj tweeted. “What the albums mean to you is your own truth based on where you were in your own life.”

Some fans agreed that The Pinkprint deserved one of the higher spots. “queen above pink friday is CRAZY but thank god there’s democracy in gag city cause pinkprint still sitting pretty at the top,” one wrote.

And others reiterated that they felt her 2018 album, Queen, should’ve been lower. In the end, as Minaj mentioned, the Barbz were very divided.

What Does Nicki Minaj’s ‘FTCU’ Mean?

From the launch of her seemingly multiple-reality world Gag City, to the plethora of sound effects in her arsenal, Nicki Minaj is a wealth of insider secrets that only true Barbz understand. However, if you plan on attending any of the 37 Pink Friday 2 World Tour dates, you should become hip to the lingo.

Nicki’s record-setting album, Pink Friday 2, for the most part, isn’t a difficult concept to understand, but there’s one track that might have some confused: Users online want to know what Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU” means.

What Does Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU” Mean?

In short, the ATL Jacob-produced single gets its name from an African American Vernacular English (AAVE) saying. “F*ck the club up,” or the acronym FTCU, is a common expression used to detail just how wild a person is going to party or let loose during a social gathering. (Minaj’s song, though, says “f*ck this club up.”)

This concept isn’t new by any means. Last year, Latto, GloRilla, and the late Gangsta Boo dropped a track by the same name. However, Nicki put her own spin on it. Instead of sampling Three 6 Mafia’s 1995 song “Tear Da Club Up,” Nicki pulls from Waka Flocka’s 2010 track “F*ck The Club Up.”

While Latto focuses on nightlife on her respective track, for Nicki, the rap game is where she wants to cause havoc. “Yo, I tell ’em that I’m the Sleeze, they tellin’ me, ‘Okay, prove it’ / I leave these b*tches on read, so now they know that they blew it / I tell ’em I’m movin’ units, my videos, they gon’ view it / Spotify ain’t gotta lie, they really streamin’ my music / I give b*tches the crown, thеy f*ck around and lose it, nah / I am the wave, I only wavе when I’m tellin’ ’em bye / B*tch, we ain’t twinnin’, ain’t fraternal or identical / When I’m around, b*tch, you know you become invisible.”

Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU” is a cleverly positioned jab at the cliques formed by other women in rap.

Nicki Minaj Sample Causes Billie Eilish Song To Return To The Charts

Earlier this month, Nicki Minaj released her highly-anticipated 5th studio album Pink Friday 2. Just hours before the project dropped she teased that pop superstar Billie Eilish was involved. While many fans were hoping for a feature it ended up being a sample, albeit a pretty substantial one. The album’s opening track “Are You Gone Already” uses a hefty sample of Billie’s track “When The Party’s Over” from her 2018 debut album When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go.

Now 5 years after the track was originally released it’s returning to Billboard charts in the wake of Pink Friday 2. The track returned to two different charts in this week’s tracking period. Those charts are the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and the Hot Alternative Songs chart where the song landed at number 25 and 14 respectively. Eilish has a pretty extensive history with success on the Billboard charts. Both of her studio albums debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 in their first weeks. She also scored a number one hit on the Hot 100 with her smash single “Bad Guy” in 2019.

Nicki Minaj Propels Billie Eilish Song Back To The Charts

Pink Friday 2 itself also made a pretty significant splash on a number of Billboard charts. The biggest achievement for the album was debuting at the number one spot on the Billboard 200. It’s a record-breaking third number-one album for Nicki Minaj putting her ahead of any other female rapper. The album also pulled sold more than 200k units in its first week alone.

14 different songs from Pink Friday 2 also landed on the Hot 100 this week. That includes three inside the top 50. The achievement is even more impressive given the time of year. During late November and throughout December Christmas songs take up a majority of the Hot 100’s top 50 as they rack up hundreds of thousands of streams. What do you think of a Billie Eilish song from 2018 returning to the Billboard charts following the release of Pink Friday 2? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nicki Minaj Confirms Forthcoming Rihanna Collab, Talks Potentially Working With Taylor Swift

Nicki Minaj has always been a major collaborator. Throughout her career, she’s crossed paths with almost all of the biggest stars in rap music. That was once again the case on her new album Pink Friday 2 which dropped earlier this month. Drake, J. Cole, Future, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and more appear throughout the project. Many pointed out that Nicki didn’t work with any of her major female rap contemporaries, instead choosing to diss fellow rappers like Latto and Megan Thee Stallion in lyrics on the album.

But she may have some new collaborations with big female stars outside of rap music coming soon. The first was an official tease coming from Nicki herself. Earlier this week video began making the rounds online of Rihanna dancing to Nicki’s new song “FTCU” at her Fenty event. Nicki must have seen the video spreading around and posted a response to it that has fans extremely enticed. “The full gag city deluxe ain’t coming out until Queen Rih send her vocals. POW,” she teased. Pink Friday 2 already got a deluxe version which added two new tracks a week after the album dropped. But with this new announcement, she confirmed that there’s even more coming soon and Rihanna is likely to be included. Check out her statement below.

Nicki Minaj Announces Rihanna Collab

Nicki also revealed in an interview that she would love to collaborate with Taylor Swift one day. When asked if she would make a song with the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker she responded “in a heart beat.” Pink Friday 2 has also been a smash hit on the charts. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with more than 200k sales in its first week. It also placed 14 songs in the Hot 100 this week. That second achievement is particularly impressive given a majority of the chart’s Top 50 songs are taken up by Christmas music this time of year.

Nicki Minaj also achieved a new high on the Hot Gospel Songs chart. Her new track “Blessings” immediately soared to the top of the chart marking her first ever number one. What do you think of Nicki Minaj announcing a new collab with Rihanna? What about her take on working with Taylor Swift in the future? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nicki Minaj’s 3rd Number One Album Leads All Female Rappers

Earlier this month, Nicki Minaj returned with her highly-anticipated new album Pink Friday 2. The album was a major undertaking sporting 22 tracks and a full 70 minutes of music. Included among them were three already successful singles Nicki had dropped dating back to last year. It also featured a number of high-profile features from other major rappers. Drake, J. Cole, Future, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and more appear at various points across the album.

Unsurprisingly, the album soared to massive success on the charts. 14 of the songs from the album landed on the Hot 100 this week including three in the top 50. “Everybody” featuring Lil Uzi Vert leads the way managing to land in the top 30 despite the massive influx of Christmas charts on the song. The album also hit the very top spot on the Billboard 200. It marked Nicki’s first number one on the albums chart in over a decade following her last two albums peaking at number 2. Pink Friday 2 guaranteed its top spot with a commanding first week that saw it netting well over 200k sales. Check out Nicki’s celebration of the achievement below.

Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” Breaks Record

While getting a number one album on its own is an achievement in itself, this one was even more special for Nicki Minaj. It broke a long-standing tie with Foxy Brown for number one albums among female rappers. It’s yet another significant achievement for the artist that many cite as the definitive female rapper.

The chart success doesn’t even end there though. Nicki also scored her first-ever chart-topping single on the Hot Gospel Songs chart. She teamed up with gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard for a track late on the album called “Blessings.” The song immediately debuted atop the gospel charts making yet another impressive achievement for Nicki in the wake of her new album. What do you think of Nicki Minaj breaking the record for most number one albums by a female rapper? Let us know in the comment section below.

Nicki Minaj’s Jaw Hit The Floor When She Heard Stephen Colbert’s Improvised Bars During Their ‘F The Colbert Up’ Rap Battle

Pink Friday 2 debuted at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard 200, so Nicki Minaj has an excuse to rest, but that is not the Nicki Minaj that Barbz have come to know and love.

On Wednesday, December 20, Minaj casually tossed out that perhaps Rihanna should “send her vocals” for “the full” Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Deluxe), and then she starred on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert later that night. Minaj explained the meaning of Gag City to a very confused Colbert before he encouraged her to freestyle.

“Honestly, y’all, I only had two seconds to make this up, so it’s only two lines,” Minaj told the in-studio audience. “But there’s a song on my called ‘F The Club Up’ [‘FTCU‘], and instead, I changed it to ‘F The Colbert Up,’ right? And so, the first the two lines, I changed it for him in Gag City, when he arrives. It goes, ‘High heels on for Stevie / If I marry Stevie, he ain’t ever gon’ leave me.”

Minaj repeated the bar, but this time, she challenged him to tack his own bars to “end the rap” with “the first thing that pops into your mind that rhymes.” Colbert jumped in with, “High heels or not, Nicki / You better hope you never meet my wife, Evie.”

Minaj’s mouth dropped in shock at Colbert’s mic drop, and I agree: The round goes to Colbert.

Elsewhere during Minaj’s visit, she excitedly looked forward to her 2024 Pink Friday 2 World Tour and shared how her three-year-old son, Papa Bear, “runs everything.”
