Andre 3000 Addresses Backlash To His Controversial Comments On Aging In Hip-Hop

Andre 3000 has spoken out on the backlash to his explanation for not continuing to make hip-hop music as he gets older. Speaking with Crack Magazine for a new cover story, the legendary Outkast rapper discussed his controversial comments on aging in hip-hop. “I’ve heard some rappers reply to what I’ve said about age, and I have to ask, ‘What are you rapping about?’” he began.

“Some are the best braggadocious rappers in the world, and we love them for that — but it’s so much easier to do that for the rest of your life. I don’t necessarily rap like that. Our formulas are different. He doesn’t know what it takes for me to do what I do. I don’t know what it takes for him to say the same thing over and over again and still keep it creative. But I love him for doing it.”

Andre originally shared the take during an interview with GQ from last year after the release of his instrumental album, New Blue Sun. “I’m 48 years old,” he said when asked why he isn’t rapping. “And not to say that age is a thing that dictates what you rap about, but in a way it does. And things that happen in my life, like, what are you talking about? ‘I got to go get a colonoscopy.’ What are you rapping about? ‘My eyesight is going bad.’”

Lil Woody Admits He Lied About Young Thug’s Crimes To Avoid Trouble

Lil Woody just launched a scathing rant against the prosecution while taking the stand during Young Thug and YSL’s RICO trial. Moreover, he accused them of trying to exploit him as the state’s witness, pressuring him to give them what they want in the case, asking old questions about old statements without properly representing them, and not allowing him to make his peace with the matter. In addition, Woody also explained why he spoke on Thugger in the first place and claimed that he lied about everything he told police back in 2015 about the rapper’s alleged crimes in order to get them off his back and avoid trouble.

“I don’t recall nothing that happened years ago,” Lil Woody said during his court appearance in Young Thug’s trial. “I just know that every time the police were after me and trying to get me, they kept bringing his name up. Whatever y’all want me to say, I’ma say it. That’s why they kept coming after me because they felt like they could make a case after him. And y’all wrong because y’all know that I’m full of s**t. And y’all keep trying to drag me to bring up bulls**t that y’all know that I’ve said. Why is y’all doing that? Leave me alone.”

Lil Woody Claims His “Snitching” Concerning Young Thug Was All A Lie

Furthermore, the prosecution continued to ask Lil Woody about the 2015 details of Young Thug’s alleged crimes. Despite his inability or refusal to recall these statements, his current stance contradicts his supposed years-ago assurances that he understood he was snitching and the allegedly verifiable facts that authorities were able to gain from their conversations. At press time, Woody’s time on the stand hasn’t finished in this first trial day back after weeks of recess.

Meanwhile, Lil Woody has a choice now: testify and fall back in line with his 2015 confessions, or go back to jail. From what these new updates indicate, it’s still very much up in the air, and the prosecution has a headache to deal with moving forward. Amid all this, there still hasn’t been much actual case development when it comes to identifying whether Young Thug or his co-defendants are guilty. Hopefully, this trial can eventually focus up and start getting to the bottom of that more humanely, effectively, professionally, and truthfully.

T-Pain Reveals How Much Money He Made From His First Recording Contract

T-Pain got a massive advance in his first record label deal, though he blew through the money very quickly. While on tour with Bay Area rapper LaRussell last month, the two, along with fellow rapper Tietta, sat down for a Free Game Friday session to talk about record labels. The rapper/singer says his first record deal was favorable, since he was 18 when he signed. But he spent so much of the money irresponsibly that he was eventually in the “negative.”

“First deal, that whole first joint was 15/85,” said T-Pain. “But they gave me crazy money, so I didn’t even care. Like, bro, they straight-up was like, ‘Alright, deal’s done. Here you go.’” T-Pain added that the label gave him a $40 million advance, a number so big that his circle pressured him to accept the deal. LaRussell asked if T-Pain had ever gotten a royalty check. “Oh, yeah. A lot. I still get a lot of royalties. I’m probably never gonna not get royalty checks,” he replied. He then remarked on his thoughts after signing the first contract. “I had to go look at my deal, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m about to get paid.’ And they was like, ‘No, the f*ck you not.’ And I was like, ‘Bro, there’s no way.’ And they were like, ‘There’s all the way, ‘cause here’s your signature, you stupid piece of sh*t.’”

T-Pain’s Wild First Record Deal

Because T-Pain’s first advance was so large, he neglected to plan accordingly. Especially since he was 18 when he signed that contract. He talks about how he went from $40 million to “complete zero.” “What do you think I’m going to do with this money? Save it?” he jokingly asked during the conversation with LaRussell and Tietta.

T-Pain continues to rake in big money over two decades into his career, though not just from music. He recently revealed the amount of money he rakes in from an hour of live streaming himself playing video games. He explained that he makes $50,000 to $60,000 per hour from his time on the popular website Twitch. The rapper also detailed how the convenience and ease of live streaming caused him to think about how much more difficult it is to profit in the music industry, as most artists make the bulk of their money from going on the road and touring. The record label taking 85% of his earnings on his first contract is another example of how difficult it is to profit, and he has found much different avenues to make money since then.

Olympic Breakdancer Responds To Backlash From Viral Performance

The 2024 Olympics were very special for a lot of reasons, including the debut of one of hip-hop’s staples, breakdancing, as an event. While the decision to omit it from the 2028 Games is a sad one, it might make sense to some casual consumers thanks to one particular B-Girl this year. One of Australia’s representatives, Rachael Gunn AKA Raygun, lost all three of her one-on-one contests with a total tally of 54-0. But more than the loss itself, the online reaction to her performances was so mocking, disgusted, and critical that she spoke to ESPN about it.

“What I wanted was [to] come out here and do something new and different and creative,” Raygun expressed. “That’s my strength, my creativity. I was never going to beat these girls on what they do best, the dynamic and the power moves, so I wanted to move differently, be artistic and creative because how many chances do you get in a lifetime to do that on an international stage?” Compared to other Olympic happenings, this was a pretty controversial moment overall, especially for the hip-hop community.

Raygun’s Viral Breakdancing At The 2024 Olympic Games

“I love Rachael, and I think that what has occurred on social media with trolls and keyboard warriors, and taking those comments and giving them airtime, has been really disappointing,” the Australia team’s Chef de Mission Anna Meares said of Raygun’s performance, which Snoop Doog witnessed along with everything else at the Games. “Raygun is an absolutely loved member of this Olympic team. She has represented the Olympic team, the Olympic spirit with great enthusiasm. And I absolutely love her courage. I love her character, and I feel very disappointed for her, that she has come under the attack that she has.”

Meanwhile, breakdancing continues to define a lot of hip-hop culture, and they still celebrate it as an integral part of the art form and community. Sure, it doesn’t have the same relevance and presence it used to have, but rappers like Common still get teased for their B-Boy moves every once in a while. It looks like the Olympics won’t be the one carrying the torch for the culture on a grand, global scale. So let’s find the next big breakdancing moment, let Raygun redeem herself and her art, and give more shine to the culture that birthed this tradition and the cultures that appreciate and respect it skillfully and tastefully.

Real Boston Richey Faces Snitching Allegations Due To Resurfaced Footage

Real Boston Richey has some questions to answer from fans after interrogation footage recently resurfaced online of him supposedly snitching. Moreover, the clip below sees him talk to police, identify suspects, recounting events, naming names, and even brought in someone’s mother into his testimony. For what it’s worth, this has caused a lot of debate among fans of the “Get In There” rapper, as some point out that this is old footage that apparently came out some time ago. In fact, there are even some fans in the replies of the post below that claim that Richey said that he fabricated this story to police (which is still a crime) and that no one saw any jail time as a result of this conversation.

Still, many fans are more skeptical concerning that narrative, and they instead believe that they caught Real Boston Richey in 4K. However, it’s important to understand that – especially for consumers that aren’t involved with the courts or street life – there are a lot of “snitching” conversations and incidents that the public misrepresents and misinterprets, so take all of this with a grain of salt. But that’s not the only controversy on the Tallahassee native’s plate. Authorities reportedly arrested him for conspiracy to traffic marijuana earlier this year.

Real Boston Richey’s Alleged Snitching In Resurfaced Interrogation Video

In addition, Real Boston Richey also denied rumors that his girlfriend is underage. In an Instagram Live session from February, the 27-year-old clarified that his partner is 23 years old, not 18 as his ex had alleged. Overall, it’s a very bizarre situation that seems more like personal romantic beef than anything, but it still rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way. Since then, nothing else has emerged concerning the rumors or the backlash, so it seems like things chilled out.

Meanwhile, Real Boston Richey also has to worry about rap game rivals, as NBA YoungBoy went at him and Finesse2tymes with full, partner-disrespecting force earlier this year. But again, things have been pretty quiet on that front since April, so it seems like it was another quick clout generator whether intended or not. We’ll see how long it takes for these snitching accusations to see a similar fate.
