According to a newly unsealed list of the platform’s shareholders which was first unveiled by The Washington Post, troubled Bad Boy founder Diddy was one of the investors who helped Elon Musk turn Twitter into X after he purchased it for $44B in 2022.

The document, which went public today(August 22), lists almost 100 entities as part-owners, with Diddy listed under the name ‘Sean Combs Capital, LLC’ alongside other notable names such as Bill Ackman, Saudi Prince Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.

How much Diddy invested into isn’t clear and names of current company shareholders are not known to the public.

The full revealing comes after U.S. District Judge Susan Illston initially granted a motion filed by independent tech journalist Jacob Silverman.

Silverman stated he was seeking transparency in the best interest of the public. Former Twitter employees have alleged in court the company violated their arbitration agreements by not paying certain fees after Musk took over, forcing the company to file for the sealed list.

gzagenius

The “genius” of the iconic WTC is celebrating his 58th born day today.

On this date in 1966, Gary Grice, better known to the rap world as the “GZA”, was born in Brooklyn, New York, and is now recognized as one of the most celebrated lyricists to ever grace the mic in Hip Hop.

Before the Wu-Tang Clan formed like Voltron, the GZA began his career as “The Genius”, signing a deal with Cold Chillin’ Records, where he released Words From The Genius in 1991. After an unsuccessful solo career, GZA joined forces with his cousin Robert “RZA” Diggs and created the world-famous Wu the following year and the rest is history. Wu-Tang Clan went on to become a multiplatinum group that is arguably the best Hip Hop collective of all time.

GZA went on the release four more solo projects and has even released a series on Netflix entitled Liquid Science, with the title being a play off of his Liquid Swords albums.

Peace and happy degree day to Allah Justice on his 58th birthday and many more hereafter!

Today In Hip Hop History: J Dilla’s First Posthumous LP ‘The Shining’ Was Released 18 Years Ago

j dilla

On this day in Hip Hop history, The Source Magazine celebrates the 16th anniversary of the late great J Dilla’s first posthumous album The Shining. This relic of the culture is one of Hip Hop’s more cherished albums. In its “unfinished” glory, The Shining serves as the first LP that Jay Dee spits on since his debut Welcome 2 Detroit in 2001.

As J. Dilla’s time on this Earth was coming to a close, he was persistently working on what would become his final masterpiece. Unable to finish on his own, Dilla called upon fellow Detroit artist Karriem Riggins to put the final touches on the project for him. With Riggins acting as if inside Dilla’s head, this style of completion brought about an interestingly unique sound for the album. Although some may call it “disjointed”, the warm and unpolished mastering of this album give it the nostalgic quality of a Golden Age LP.

With features from Common, D’Angelo, and Black Thought this album is a staple of Hip Hop soul. Dilla’s trademark smooth cut production beefed up with live instrumentation created a sound that showed a matured J. Dilla more refined than before. Short and to the point, like the majority of his work, this project is project was the perfect remedy to aid the loss of one of the most loved and respected figures in Hip Hop.

Commercially, the album was met with success as well as critical acclaim. Despite being put out by the independent Barely Breaking Even Records, The Shining peaked at #103 on the Billboard 200 chart and #35 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop chart. Although sales may have not been on par with the hit albums of the time, Dilla’s work still received a momentous amount of praise and admiration on his phantom album.

Craig Mack’s Cause Of Death Revealed As HIV/AIDS-Related Complications

Craig Mack

Six years ago, premiere Bad Boy Records artist Craig Mack died from an unknown, acute illness that was first believed to be heart-related. A recent article from Rolling Stone has unveiled that Mack’s death certificate now reads that the “Flava In Ya Ear” rapper died from HIV/AIDS-related illness.

Published on Friday(August 18), the Rolling Stone article contained an interview with his first wife, Roxanne Alexis Hill-Johnson, his daughter Amanda Mack, and his younger brother Andrew Mack, who all opened up about the “Flava In Ya Ear” rapper’s life from his peak at Bad Boy Records to his final days on his deathbed.

“I’ve truly, honestly never seen a human being in that condition before,” Andrew Mack said. “He was catatonic.”

“I believe he was very much in denial, but that’s him living his truth to the end,” he continued. “I know that sounds really crazy, but you have to know him to understand that. As much as that bothers me, I understand why he did what he did. He lived his truth.”

His widow and brother contend that the New York native learned of his diagnosis before he left his hometown in 2007. mack moved to South Carolina, where he joined the Overcomer Ministry. By 2014, Mack had already shown signs of failing health after he lost au unmistakable amount of weight and was frequently sick. Mack originally told people he had congestive heart failure and was hospitalized, but he didn’t seek out any further medical treatment.

By 2018, Mack walked with a cane until he was unable to walk on his own. His family drove from Vermont to spend a few days with Mack in his final hours.

Mack’s family still has a lot of questions about his life and Hill-Johnson hopes to answer some of them in a documentary she’s developing with Alvin Toney, who recorded Mack’s final interview before his death.

Metro Boomin’s Mother Killed By Her Husband In Murder-Suicide

Screenshot 2024 08 21 at 6.30.01 PM

A very tragic story has been confirmed about the mother of super producer Metro Boomin, who was shot and killed by her husband on Friday night before turning the gun on himself and ending his own life.

Leslie Joanne Wayne, Metro’s mom, was killed in an apparent murder-suicide by her husband(not Metro’s father), which Metro did not learn about until his mother’s body was discovered by police outside of the Atlanta area, according to law enforcement sources.

Reps for the Metro confirmed Wayne’s death to TMZ and shared that the family is requesting privacy during this difficult time. An autopsy is currently underway to determine Ms. Wayne’s cause of death.

Ms. Wayne raised Boomin and his three siblings in St. Louis and encouraged him to pursue his passion through adolescence and early adulthood. She’d even drive him from STL to Atlanta so he could collaborate with artists he was connecting with, all in hopes of getting his career off the ground.

For those who don’t know Metro has produced hits for some of the biggest artists in Hip Hop including Future, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Migos, Travis Scott, Drake, Kanye West and 21 Savage.

[WATCH] YSL RICO Trial: Young Thug Burts Into Laughter In Courtroom Following Comment From His Lawyer

Screenshot 2024 08 21 at 6.07.27 PM

In the ongoing fiasco of the YSL RICO trial in Atlanta, another courtroom debacle occurred during Young Thug’s RICo trial yesterday, with the Young Slime Life head honcho laughing so hard at his lawyer’s comment, that his amusement almost couldn’t be contained.

During the trial, as seen on livestream, Thug’s attorney Brian Steel used a metaphor to describe him not being allowed to see the prosecution’s evidence, saying, “This is all to me like I have a bag over my head and getting smashed with a baseball bat and I have no idea where to hit. I don’t have anything. I have asked for reports.”

Halfway through Steel’s commentary, Young Thug exploded into laughter and had to cover his mouth to quiet his unexpected outburst.

See the outburst HERE

Obviously, the changing of the guard from Judge Ural Glanville to Judge Paige Reese Whitaker still didn’t cease the shenanigans in the courtroom and the colorful testimony of Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland, who admitted to lying under oath to the prosecution, is proof.

“Like I told you before y’all called me to trial, I have lied,” he testified. “I made things up. I told you this before y’all brought me in this courtroom, and I’m telling you now. You asked me about 2015. I had got my life together. Y’all are trying to put this on my conscience, y’all are trying to put people’s lives in my hands.”

He added, “I don’t wanna be here. Y’all have pressured me, I’m tired of y’all, cause y’all know y’all wrong, and y’all Black people doing this to us.”
