Killer Mike, the esteemed rapper, and activist, has fans chomping at the bits as he announces a new album in June. You probably were introduced to Killer Mike from his feature on OutKast’s “Snappin’ & Trappin’” off their classic album Stankonia. Despite not having any music of his own until 2008 with I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II, and later shaking the rap game with his 2012 classic R.A.P Music, Killer Mike has become one of rap’s biggest staples. When you’re getting a shoutout from Kendrick Lamar on the impact of your album you know you’re doing something right.

While we all know the Atlanta native for his countless contributions to the Black community, whether it’s speaking at the REVOLT Summit or kicking knowledge with Stacey Abrams on how we can move forward as a people, we forget how nice he is on the mic. However, Killer Mike reminds us all that he is indeed really like that. Announcing a new solo album after a 10-year hiatus since his critically acclaimed album R.A.P Music in 2012. Although we’ve gotten consistent from him and his longtime collaborator EL-P as the rap duo Run The Jewels, it’s been a minute since we’ve heard from just Killer Mike. To kickoff his birthday Killer Mike announced that his album MICHAEL is dropping June 16.

Not only that, but Mike also dropped a single called “Don’t Let The Devil” accompanied by his RTJ partner EL-P. The track is soulful and could easily be a cut from a Run The Jewels project. Furthermore, Mike’s lyricism has only gotten better with time. The new single follows two previously released singles, “Run” featuring Young Thug and Dave Chappelle, and “Talk’n That Shit!.” Given that it’s been so long since we’ve got solo work from Mike, it appears he has not lost a single step.

Judging from the latest single along with the other two he dropped, it looks like we’re in for a treat. Mike’s unique blend of fiery and witty lyrics and impeccable production make for another classic in the making. However, that’s not all Killer Mike has on the docket for himself. If you have been paying attention to 6ix9ine as of late, you know that he has completely changed his sound. However, you can’t mention his recent comeback without also talking about what preceded it. The rapper was attacked at an LA Fitness in Florida, which prompted arrests and an investigation. Subsequently, the artist decided to flee to Cuba where he unleashed a new ballad. Following the success of that track, he went to Africa to film the music video for “WAPAE.” This was an immediate smash hit that many are saying could be a Fifa anthem.

With the success of these two songs in mind, it should come as no surprise that 6ix9ine would want to remain in the Latin music lane. Overall, those shouting raps from the “GUMMO” days have become extremely tiresome and repetitive. Additionally, the rapper understands that Latin music is having a huge moment and is a global genre. That said, it should come as no surprise that he is looking to capitalize on this. While some may abhor his foray into this genre, others are absolutely loving it.

Overall, this track goes heavy on the beat switches. Ultimately, it sounds like something that could be played in various arenas all across the world. Yung Bleu Enlists Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $ign, & Tink For New Album “Love Scars II”

Fivio Foreign Apologizes To Unpaid Videographer

Fivio Foreign is in the news for more than just his new single today. The New York drill king just released his new banger, “Hot Sauce.” Recently, the rapper missed a performance at Rolling Loud due to health issues. It isn’t clear what those issues were. In a statement about his absence, the rapper said, “Apologize to @RollingLoud & everybody who came out to see me I ain’t make it,” he said. “My first time missing a show and I feel so crazy about it but my body dealing w some real issues.. Juss keep me in yah prayers.”

Fivio’s absence at Rolling Loud came just one month after he admitted that he was struggling with his mental health. “Scratch dat.. I’m not healed I’m depressed..,” he tweeted. However, after missing the Rolling Loud performance, he immediately teased new music in a response to a tweet from Meek Mill. Things looked uncertain for a while there. Now, it looks like Fivio is back in top form with his new single. He’s also showing that he really cares about the people he works with.

Fivio Cares Even When He’s Struggling

A few days ago, a South African videographer tweeted at the rapper. He alleges that he filmed a video for Fivio while he was there for Rocking The Daisy but was never paid. “They booked me to cover his weekend here,” the user said. “I did that, they loved the videos.” Along with the tweet, the user posted some clips of the videos he took of Fivio that weekend. He probably wasn’t expecting such a quick and kind response.

Fivio was quick to hit him back. In a reply, he apologized for the videographer not getting paid. “I deff waznt aware yu never got paid.. was alot of things not being handled rite bacc in these days,” the rapper said. “Not even sure if I used these vids but imma make sure yu get paid NP.. I Apologize.” He told the videographer to message him so he could send the payment. Fivio may be hard in his music, but recently he’s shown himself to be a very empathetic and caring person.
