NLE Choppa Shares “Champions” Single, Says It’s One Of His “Favourite Songs [He’s] Recorded”

So far in 2023, NLE Choppa has been a force to be reckoned with. The Memphis native previously began the year with an appearance on “Switches” alongside Clay “Krucial” Perry III. Afterward, he came through with “23,” and more recently, “Champions.”

According to a press release, this new arrival is one of the 20-year-old’s personal favourite songs that he’s recorded. “I just feel like it just shows empowerment, determination and motivation,” he explained. “I feel like this song can speak volumes to us [with motivation], but really resonate with those who don’t know what life has for them.”

“My view from the top of the moon / I can see the whole world sittin’ in my hand, amazin’ view,” Choppa chiefly rhymes over victorious horns and militaristic percussion on his first verse. “We finna break the rules / And we gon’ make ’em too.”

As a press release notes, “Champions” is now appearing on ESPN’s promos and various programming.

The new single will also appear on Choppa’s upcoming Cottonwood 2 project, said to be dropping sometime this spring. The predecessor, Cottonwood, first landed back in 2019 and came complete with 10 songs as well as a Blueface feature. It’s since gone on to earn a gold certification.

In a recent Instagram post, the southern star provided more context in his definition of a champion. “Anyone who has faced adversity and still haven’t let it define who they are on the inside,” he wrote.

“You’d think the homeless would be full of things that isn’t divine but instead every homeless person I meet are more grateful than people with everything they dreamed of. That tells me that a champion is NOTHING exoteric, it’s actually ESOTERIC.”

Skillibeng Taps Nardo Wick For “16CHOPPA” Single

Jamaican dancehall artist Skillibeng just recruited Nardo Wick for their single, “16CHOPPA.” If you’re unfamiliar with the 25-year-old, he’s one of the hottest names in dancehall right now, known for his creative fusions with hip-hop tropes. Moreover, this new track mixes tropical rhythms with trap-style drums and other production elements. What’s more is that the “Who Want Smoke?” MC matches Skillibeng’s energy and vocal tone with his guest verse. Overall, “16CHOPPA” is a fitting introduction to dancehall for hip-hop fans that are looking for somewhere to dive in. Still, the Jamaican artist is idiosyncratic and creative enough in his performance to give the track an authentic feel. While it might not be your cup of tea at first, this song’s melodies and hypnotic drum patterns will seep in your mind for some time.

Furthermore, a lot of that stickiness comes from Skillibeng’s unique vocal inflections on “16CHOPPA.” For example, throughout his verses and choruses, he keeps a consistently nasal tone, going from fast words to drawn-out syllables. For outsiders to this genre or culture, the “accent” might throw some people off, and the high pitch doesn’t help. However, if it does, it’s an indication of their still-burgeoning taste, not of Skillibeng’s lack of talent. In fact, his delivery on the track is charismatic and much more of a unique approach to the flexing, boastful, playboy-style bars we’re used to.

However, on that note, Nardo comes through with some pretty cheeky wordplay and entertaining descriptions in his verse. Moreover, his style and understated delivery fit well with “16CHOPPA”‘s production. The light and simple keys, subtly morphing bass, and incredibly sharp drum kit is a checklist the Wickman’s crossed off often. Let us know what you think of Nardo’s performance on Skillibeng’s “16CHOPPA,” and what you thought about the whole track. Also, if you haven’t heard the track yet, you can find it on your preferred streaming service. Don’t forget to check out some standout bars, and come back to HNHH for the best new music each week.

GloRilla Claps Back At “Internet Trolls” On New Single

GloRilla’s had to deal with her fair share of trolls since the success of “F.N.F.” Whether it’s about her looks or her music, she hasn’t been exempt from facing hate on the Internet. However, she’s not one to necessarily turn the other cheek when others come for her neck.

This week, she addressed all of her haters on her new single, “Internet Trolls.” Big Glo reunites with HitKidd, who she previously had issues with, for her latest single, and their chemistry is still on 10. HitKidd’s anthem horn-heavy production leads GloRilla’s heavy-hitting banger, where she calls out the people faking it on the Internet. Not only those in the comments but the folks who’ve gained mass followings by faking their lifestyle. “He that n***a for the people, but in person, he a bitch/ They be gangster on the booth, but in them papers be a snitch,” she raps on the song.

Glo’s undoubtedly experienced a massive change in her life over the past several months. The newfound fame has turned her into one of the hottest new artists in the game with a Grammy nomination to show for it. However, she recently explained how fame and money changed the people around her.

“I don’t got a problem cutting people off, and I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. But I have no problem cutting people off once I see what type of stuff they be on,” she said in a recent interview. “They just got to go. Because it ain’t no room for that no more. I’m on a whole ’nother level now, and if you’re still on b*llsh**t, then I just don’t want to talk to you.”

The year’s already been quite active for the “Blessed” rapper. She linked up with Moneybagg Yo earlier this year for “On Wat U On.” However, the release of “Internet Trolls” sets the tone for what’s bound to be a massive year in 2023. Her breakout year saw her transform into one of rap’s leading ladies of the new generation while also landing a deal with Yo Gotti’s CMG. Through Gotti’s label, she released her debut project, Anyways, Life’s Great including the hit record, “Tomorrow 2” ft. Cardi B

Quotable Lyrics

That ski don’t make you gangsta, you a capper, where yo’ snapback?

Might be in my gallery, but he ain’t in this thread though

Twyce Demands “Attention” In New Freestyle Track

U.K artist Twyce just dropped a new freestyle titled “Attention,” and it demands it with narrative bars and a breezy instrumental. Moreover, the South London rapper is one of many voices bubbling in the English hip-hop scene, which covers grime, drill, and beyond. However, this newest track is well within a stateside hip-hop head’s wheelhouse. For example, the track’s production is similar to the melodic, emotionally resonant, and wavy tracks of a lyricist like J. Cole. While it’s a short track, Twyce injects a lot of passion and personal perspective in its two-minute runtime. It’s yet another creative track from beyond the pond, in an age where regions no longer define genre or style.

Furthermore, the beat on “Attention” is an emotive and laid-back approach, with a slow tempo and a lot of atmosphere. For example, there are some very subtle keys that hang in the background, so lush they sound like guitar strums. However, the guitar’s already the main melody, looping some soft electric chords throughout its runtime. Also, there are some beautiful saxophone lines that come in toward the midway point, contrasting nicely with the guitar. While it may not be the most dynamic or evolving backdrop, it’s still layered enough to warrant repeat listens. Regardless, Twyce’s bouncing flows, heartfelt narratives, and engaging wordplay and diction are the song’s standout achievement. In fact, some fans might be reminded of Dave’s introspection and his chilled and measured demeanor.

Still, what did you think of Twyce’s latest freestyle, “Attention”? However you may feel, let us know in the comments and peep notable lines and its music video down below. Also, if you haven’t heard this track yet, you can find the song on your preferred streaming service. As always, stay tuned to HNHH for the best new music releases, with or without that smooth British accent.

Quotable Lyrics
She was a girl on the corner, juxtaposed while I’m on the corner, just a pose,
Opinions opposed, you’re in my head naked, no clothes, first time
Seeing me, you froze, we’re great together, but trust me I’m good on my own,
They give Qs, I say no when they ask me “Do you regret this fully?”

Rarelyalways Says It’s “URGENT” On New Song

The U.K.’s own Rarelyalways just dropped his second single of the year, and it’s “URGENT” that you give it a chance. Moreover, the South London artist will drop his debut album Work later in the year on March 10. Also, this isn’t the first teaser we’ve received for the project. Just a couple of weeks ago, he released two new tracks: “LET’S” and “Voice note 0142.” With these grimy and energetic tracks, Rarelyalways is setting up a varied and widely-influenced body of work. After all, his background in music education and lifetime of loving music of all kinds should make for an incredible combo. Furthermore, “URGENT” is a woozy, deeply psychedelic, and atmospheric cut that pulls from varied sonic territory.

While the track’s percussion and emphatic flows fit into a hip-hop formula, the rest of the instrumentation reveals Rarely’s creativity. For one, there are some old-school DJ scratches throughout this track that give it a retro feel at certain points. Also, there’s a hypnotic and effect-heavy synth line that persists menacingly in the background, fading in and out. Still, the additional uses of strings swells and deep bass provide a solid foundation for the rapper’s hardened life stories. However, one of the track’s best features is its hazy and abstract song structure. All of its elements fight for the listener’s attention and bob in and out of the track, changing its focus. Once those trumpet lines come in, they pull you out of the murky beat, and drop you right back in once they end.

Still, what did you think of Rarelyalways latest track, “URGENT”? Moreover, are you looking forward to his March 10 debut album, Work? Let us know in the comments and check out some standout bars and the single’s music video down below. Also, if you haven’t heard it yet, you can find the eerie song on your preferred streaming service. As always, log back into HNHH for the best new music in hip-hop and beyond released each week.

Latto Connects With bLAck pARty To Remix “BOMB” New Joint Single

The past few months have seen Latto more booked and busy than ever before. Aside from getting hate for wearing the same pair of underwear twice (and subsequently listing them for sale on eBay as a joke), the 777 artist has been in her musical bag as of late too.

Near the end of December, she officially dropped a previously leaked title, “Another Nasty Song.” Before that, she joined GloRilla and the late Gangsta Boo on “FTCU” and blew audiences away alongside Chloe Bailey with “For the Night.” Today (January 31), she’s appearing on her first single of 2023 – bLAck pARty’s “BOMB” remix.

The song originally appeared on the 31-year-old’s Hummingbird album last August. It came complete with a feature from Kari Faux. Clearly, though, BP was in the mood to switch things up in the new year.

“Y’all can have the summer / Top-down in the winter with it / Might cop a crib with a pool in it / Just to have your favourite model skinny-dipping,” bLAck pARty rhymes early on.

Later in the song, Latto takes over with her braggadocious flow, riding the beat like a master.

Other popular songs to come from the Arkansas native’s last project are “Hotline” and “I Love You More Than You Know.” The latter boasts an appearance from Childish Gambino. Additionally, he worked with names like Saba, Jean Deaux, and Gwen Bunn on various other titles.

Delishia J Wants To “Put You On” Her Fire New Single

In past years, the month of January has been relatively quiet in terms of new music releases. In 2023, however, many are choosing to shake things up by releasing incredible singles, EPs, and albums to motivate their competitors for the coming months. Among the early arrivals is a track from Dallas’ Delishia J – “Put You On.”

It made its debut on Friday (January 27), ahead of her highly anticipated Monday Morning EP later this winter. In the lead single, our vocalist markedly paints a sonic picture of the ups and downs of love in various capacities.

In a press release, Delishia specifically cites Kehlani’s Cloud 19 mixtape as one of her biggest inspirations. “Learning that she had written her own songs inspired me to step away from track and pursue music. Fast forward 6 years later and I’m finally releasing my first tap,” she excitedly explains.

Her upcoming EP has an official release date of February 17th. Its primary topic is reflection, the creator says. “Imagine it’s Monday and you’re coming off of a long romantic weekend and you’re reflecting on love and all its sensual moments,” she specifically set the scene.

Speaking on her lead single, “Put You On,” Delishia also notes, “If I put you on to my soul and we take it there you don have to worry about me doing that with anyone else.”

The beat boasts production by Ralph Tiller, who was previously working on Muni Long’s popular “Hrs & Hrs” debut.

BigXthaPlug Gives A “Primetime” Show On New Song

Rising Dallas, Texas MC BigXthaPlug just dropped “Primetime,” a grand and heavy-hitting cut of Southern hip-hop. While Big X isn’t topping charts, he’s making noise online and garnering millions of views from his pure talent. Moreover, this new track mixes a lot of sounds together for a uniquely hype and triumphant vibe.

However, you may be surprised at the Plug’s background. He’s nicknamed “The Biggest Stepper” (but who’s Mr. Morale?) and was a star football player from his childhood to his freshman year of college. Then, he faced some trouble during that time that caused him to shift gears. Afterwards, his mixtape Back from the Dead and singles like “Big Stepper,” Mr. Trouble,” “Safehouse,” and “Texas” bolstered his musical profile. His most recent efforts nabbed him cosigns from Bun B, Erykah Badu, and Shaq.

Also, the MC named “Primetime” after Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders. Much like that status, this track feels victorious and epic while still being enjoyable and hard-hitting trap. What’s more is that the instrumental prowess on this track really makes it stand out above all. Moreover, the saxophone that opens the track is gorgeous and classy, clashing creatively with the drum pattern that follows.

Meanwhile, grand hits of strings and subtle swells elevate the track to a more dramatic level every now and then. Most interestingly, however, that contrast between classy and punchy even adds rock into the mix. During some parts of the verses and chorus, you can hear an electric guitar wail away atmospherically in the background. Also, some muffled acoustic kicks give the track tense percussion in its build-ups.

Still, what did you think of BigXthaPlug’s latest single, “Primetime”? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and peep some notable lyrics from the track down below. Also, if you haven’t heard the song yet, you can find it on your preferred streaming service. As always, check back in with HNHH for the latest great music releases of the week.

Kelvyn Colt Goes “EYE4EYE” On New Single

Kelvyn Colt is back with his latest single, the minimal and club-influenced “EYE4EYE.” While that club influence might lead you to expect trendier sounds, Colt proves anything but. Moreover, this new track is tense, slightly industrial, and nothing if not thrilling from start to finish.

What’s more is that the German-Nigerian artist is gearing to drop his new project GERMAN ANGST.

“EYE4EYE” is the first single off my new project GERMAN ANGST,” he stated. Furthermore, he called it a “reflection on the culture of revenge and male toxicity, as well as the question of forgiveness. I explore my own experiences of being cheated by another artist, whom I had paid for a feature, and how I chose not to seek revenge but instead to maintain a clear conscience. In the song I’m trying to express the doubts and questions I have in mind about this topic and the hypocritical stance we as individuals take on it.”

Meanwhile, the instrumental here is an eerie and slowly building piece of industrial and electronic hip-hop. For example, the heavy kick drums only show up when the song is reaching a peak, culminating in an explosive outro. While Colt’s flows certainly keep the tempo steady, there’s a captivating soaring synth line that saws through and energizes the track. In fact, some listeners might even catch a bit of Jersey club influence in the ending’s drum pattern.

Still, what did you think of Kelvyn Colt’s latest song, “EYE4EYE”? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and check out some standout bars and the amazing music video for the single down below. Quotable Lyrics

Intercept before the show, get back yo’ dough with maybe more,

SAIAH Drops Emotive New Single, “ihateyouandyouhatemetoo”

Phoenix-based artist SAIAH just dropped their first single of 2023, the moody but cathartic “ihateyouandyouhatemetoo.” Moreover, the track is an alt-rock and indie-tinged exploration of a recent relationship coming to an end. While its lyrics and subject matter sound defeated, the song’s sonic development points towards a brighter resolution.

Furthermore, the instrumental is a light, atmospheric, and soothing collection of acoustic guitar, cloudy synth patches, and soft pianos. Even if the track is bogged down in heartache, its emotive and nuanced lyrics reflect the track’s optimistic melancholy. Overall, it sounds like the kind of track that will energize you some days and make you stare longingly out a car window on others.

“‘ihateyouandyouhatemeto’ is about a love that is spiritual,” SAIAH expressed. “A love that isn’t waning. The truth behind the thin line between love and hate. Love will prevail.”

Moreover, they explore the moments after a breakup just reached its peak, and all different kinds of emotions are swirling through. For example, the booming chorus might give listeners a blast of raw anger, but their verses convey acceptance as well. Throughout its runtime, SAIAH successfully balances the nuance in moving on from someone else.

Also, new music isn’t all that SAIAH excited fans with this week. In addition, they announced a spring tour sharing dates with the band easy life. What’s more is that these live experiences tie deeply into their artistry. Furthermore, “ihateyouandyouhatemetoo” boasts production from Jack Kolbe, who’s also worked with Jelani Aryeh. However, SAIAH’s touring band member Estelle Allen also contributed guitar parts to this cut.

Still, what did you think of SAIAH’s latest track, “ihateyouandyouhatemetoo”? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments and check out the music video and some quotable lines from the song down below.
