At times, hip-hop can grow stale and that is an argument that people online bring up. It can be a valid one at times, especially after the down year that was 2023. Some rappers, like Lil Yachty for example, have even publicly spoken up about the concern they have for its future. Thankfully, 2024 has been a return to form. However, there are going to be a couple of releases that come across as plain and forgettable. Unfortunately, those are the feelings we have about a fair share about Sick of Myself by 21 Lil Harold.

This is the Atlanta, Georgia native’s follow-up to his debut album After The Curse, which dropped back in January 2023. 21 Lil Harold, for those who do not know, is one of 21 Savage’s closest friends. Additionally, he had a huge hand in creating the Slaughter Gang Entertainment label. Because of his tight-knit ties to Savage, him, along with JID and Nardo Wick, will be going on tour together this summer for The American Dream Tour.

In fact, the North American tour kicks off tomorrow in Concord, California at the Toyota Pavilion. So, Sick of Myself comes at a perfect time as now he will have some new material to play when opens. The promotional singles, “Sundown” and “Gin & Juice,” were pretty great. However, the same cannot really be said about the rest. The solo cuts all sound the same lyrically (sex and spending money on women). Like Savage’s recent work, Harold does little to switch up his flows or his approach to a track. The beats are solid, but they carry the project for the most part, sadly. However, we still recommend you at least give the tape a try, so click the links above to do so.

Slum Village, Earlly Mac, & Cordae Are “So Superb” Together

Detroit rap group Slum Village deserves a lot of credit for still going strong all these later. We say this because after 9 long years without a new album, they have made quite a triumphant return. This past weekend, they came through with an exhilarating fusion of jazz, disco, and rap called F.U.N. Of course, the late great J Dilla is not around for this incredible release, but just know that he would be thrilled to be a part of this. T3 and rapper/producer Young RJ did an incredible job with this offering, and it is going to remain in rotation throughout the year for us.

In the press release, T3 explained where the inspiration for this project stemmed from. “[It] began with collecting old Disco records.” Additionally, RJ felt like some sort of reset was in order. “[We] wanted to just try something new, so we focused on making Disco-inspired music.” One of the songs that we feel capitalized on that very well is “So Superb.”

For this cut, Slum Village worked with two of their many collaborators for this tape, Cordae and Earlly Mac. Cardi B clapped back at a fan on Twitter in a pair of since-deleted posts after the user demanded she release her long-awaited sophomore album. In a post on the platform, the user wrote: “Cardi if that album doesn’t come before summer you better just stay off this app because if so I personally will make sure every edgy bg post is PLASTERED into the top of every single refresh you pull, YOU.” The Invasion of Privacy rapper responded: “B*tch its 7am… STFU.”

When the fan apologized and explained that she was just excited about new music, Cardi wrote back: “I’m looking at your page and you insulting artist I work with ..You not askin you TELLING ME WHAT TO DO ..I don’t know who raising y’all but I ain’t tell my momma what to do so nobody tells me what to do talking bout ‘better’ I’ll get pregnant right now and tell you go f*ck urself and give you sh*t ..I said I’m dropping this year right? So stfu.”

Cardi has confirmed her intent to release her second album at some point this year on multiple occasions. During a live stream on Instagram, earlier this year, she claimed she won’t let her anxiety about dropping get the better of her. “Look at how long I had this f***ing record for,” Cardi B said at the time. “January 27, twenty-twenty-f***ing-three. I was working on this s**t at 5AM, you know I’m a night owl. I promise y’all this year, I’m not letting my anxiety, I’m not letting what haters say, I’m not letting what fans say… If I do a song, I’ma just f***ing drop it. Well, I got no choice, ’cause I’m dropping my album this year, so… Stay tuned for the announcement, but don’t play with me! Don’t play with me! Look how I sound on it. ‘Cause I know I got a thick accent.”

Chief Keef Shares “Almighty So 2” Trailer Ahead Of Long-Awaited Release

Chief Keef has shared a trailer for his highly-anticipated new album, Almighty So 2, which appears to finally be dropping on Friday following several delays. In the video, the Chicago rapper approaches an altar while music seemingly from the album plays in the background. According to an Apple Music pre-save page, the project will include 17 songs and hit streaming platforms on Friday, May 10.

Fans on Reddit shared their excitement in response to the news. “I’m actually really hyped,” one user wrote. “I haven’t listened to chief keef in a loonnnggg time besides some of the classics here and there.” Another added: “This and the rumors of a Future mixtape dropping on the same day, is this 2024 or 2014 lol.” Future announced he’s dropping a mixtape on May 10th on Twitter, Tuesday night. “F*ck yo album Sh*t ain’t slappin like my MIXTAPE,” he wrote in part.

Chief Keef Performs At Rolling Loud

Almighty So 2 will feature collaborations with Quavo, Sexyy Red, Lil Gnar, G Herbo, and Tierra Whack. It’ll be the fourth time Keef has teamed up with Sexyy Red. Speaking with Billboard for an interview earlier this year, he said of their partnership: “I just know she f**k with me real heavy. I f**k with her, too. [She was] saying she wants to come through and I said, ‘Hell f**king yeah.’ You can really just tell she comes from where we come from.” Check out the trailer for Almighty So 2 below.

Future & Gunna Subliminally Go Back & Forth On Twitter As They Are Set To Drop Projects On The Same Day

Future and Gunna are two artists who don’t see eye to eye like they used to. Overall, this is due to the fact that Young Thug remains in jail and on trial, while Gunna is a free man. When Gunna and Young Thug were arrested together as part of the YSL Rico case, many were curious as to how things would play out. When Gunna was released from custody, many felt like it was because he must have snitched on Thugger. Although Gunna has denied this to be the case, many artists in hip-hop have effectively blackballed him.

On Friday, Gunna is set to drop off his new album One Of Wun. Fans are excited about this new album, and understandably so. However, last night, Future seemingly cut off his momentum by revealing that he would drop a mixtape on Friday. Consequently, this means these two are about to go head-to-head on the charts. Additionally, the two appeared to take subliminal shots at one another on Twitter. It all started when Future said “Fuck yo album shit ain’t slappin like my MIXTAPE.”

Future Vs. Gunna On Friday

Subsequently, Gunna went to Twitter and wrote “fuc what these boys talking bout.” Needless to say, these two are going to be looking to one-up each other with these projects. It is definitely going to be a close one, and allegiances are already made. Fans will have their minds made up before a single song is even released. Regardless, 2024 has been the year of rap beef, and that does not seem to be changing, anytime soon.

Mach-Hommy Announces New Album After Collaborating With Kaytranada For New Song, “#RichAxxHaitian”

Mach-Hommy has shared the title track from his upcoming album, #RichAxxHaitian, which he’ll be dropping later this month ahead of Haitian Flag Day. For the song, he teams up with Kaytranada and 03 Greedo. In a press release sharing the news with HipHopDX, Mach discussed the collaborators he chose to work with for the project.

“All the people I worked with are people who I know and who I’ve worked with before,” Mach said. “I like to deal with like-minded creatives. Even if the person has their own panache or je nais se quoi that they bring to the table, there has to be a thread of commonality between us in order for the work to sustain. And not to mention they’re fucking talented, exceptionally gifted at what they do, and the ear that they possess.” Other rappers to land features on the tracklist include Black Thought, Roc Marciano, Your Old Droog, Tha God Fahim, HEPHZIBAH, Big Cheeko, and more. For production, he also teamed up with Conductor Williams, Quelle Chris, and Sadhu Gold, among others.

Mach-Hommy Drops First Single From New Album

Mach-Hommy also says the new album is the final installment in a “tetralogy,” which began with his outstanding 2016 effort, HBO (Haitian Body Odor), and also features his 2021 projects, Pray for Haiti and Balens Cho (Hot Candles). According to Pitchfork, he explained: “I’ve always wanted to rep for Haiti and the cultural and intellectual richness we’ve provided the world. From our musical styles like kontradans that have influenced world music, our natural resources which provide so much raw material for so many important advancements in technology, our thinkers that pioneered philosophical movements and Black pride, and our spiritual leaders who kept the religious traditions of Guinea alive and intact, the religious traditions of Ayiti….”

Bear1Boss Brings A More Cohesive Take On His Avant-Garde Sound With “Bubbles”

When you think of Buffalo, New York, most would think of blue-collar people, and working for what you want. The city’s grit is evident in a lot of rappers’ music. Benny The Butcher, Conway the Machine, and Westside Gunn are just handful that embody that same energy. However, Bear1Boss is someone who totally goes against the grain. His colorful, zany, and niche sound is something that would originate somewhere out West or in some obscure city. He definitely does not color within the lines when it comes to putting together projects. That was apparent on his most recent effort SUPER BOSS!

It just sounded really rough around the edges, and it felt like something that could have dropped during the mixtape era. The random video game samples and wacky sound effects could come across as endearing to some. But for us, it was a tough listen from beginning to end. So, with Bear1Boss following up that February release with Bubbles our expectations for it being enjoyable were low.

Thankfully, we were pleasantly surprised by Bear1Boss on this effort. Bubbles comes across as more polished and cohesive. Hardcore fans who enjoy his intentional unfinished style may not like the cleaner approach. In our eyes though, Bear1Boss still put together some interesting hyperpop and pop rap beats without trying too hard to be goofy. His voice and flows suffice, and the listening experience was much improved this time around.

It features collaborations with Method Man, Nas, Kanye West, Jim Jones, Raekwon, Fat Joe, and several more high-profile artists. Sharing the details on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Ghostface wrote: “Thank you to everyone who helped put this project together and every talented artist that jump in the fire with me!!”

Several artists popped up in the comments section to share their excitement. Iceman, who appears on the fifth song, “Kilo in the Safe,” wrote: “Thank you for having me on this incredible album.” Conductor Williams added: “Woooooooooo- can’t wait to hear this,” while Cam’ron posted several fire emojis. Fans joined in the hype as well. “Generational music incoming!!!!” one user wrote.

Chief Keef’s “Almighty So 2” Might Drop This Friday… Yet Again

We’re not uploading an old article on accident, nor should you be concerned by the deja vu you’re feeling: this has just been an unfortunately regular occurrence. It was recently announced on social media that Chief Keef’s long-awaited project Almighty So 2 is dropping this Friday (May 10), which has fans feeling skeptical. Outlets backed up this new claim with what seems to be an Apple Music pre-save tracklist featuring Ballout, G Herbo, Lil Gnar, Tierra Whack, Sexyy Red, and Quavo. The DIRTY NACHOS rapper already dropped that mixtape earlier this year, but there’s even more material on the way.

Or is there? A lot of hardcore Chief Keef fans and rap listeners alike pointed out that Almighty So 2 has been marred with delay after delay, so much so that many won’t believe it until they see it. Somebody hold our liquor, because he really turned into a different version of Kanye West, Playboi Carti, and other notorious non-droppers in the hip-hop game. We don’t know for sure what caused these pushbacks, but regardless, this Friday represents a big chance for everyone to rejoice and finally get this albatross off our necks. Or for massive disappointment… Who knows?

Chief Keef’s Alleged Almighty So 2 Tracklist & Release Date

Elsewhere, Chief Keef is looking to return to a Chicago stage for the first time in a decade to perform at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash this year. We’re sure that with a whole lot of new material (assuming that Almighty So 2 actually comes out), fans will have a lot of fresh cuts and classics to enjoy if nothing happens with the performance. Tickets are still available on their website if you want to attend. Otherwise, we’re sure the Internet will keep us updated with some FOMO clips.

Chief Keef is also firmly on the Sexyy Red train, as the two seem to have developed a strong artistic bond as of late. With some collaborations under their belt, public appearances, and on-stream phone calls, it seems like a great dynamic duo for some grimy bangers. They’ll apparently collaborate once more if Almighty So 2 drops this week, which is pretty exciting. But history shows us that all we can do is wait until we actually see it for ourselves.

Ravyn Lenae Shares “Love Me Not” & Announces New Album

Ravyn Lenae shared a new single titled “Love Me Not” for her upcoming album, Bird’s Eye, on Friday. Along with its release, she dropped a music video to promote the track. For that effort, she got behind the camera and directed the piece. She revealed on Instagram that several of her family members make cameos in the video, in which the camera follows her as she walks around a house.

Lenae spoke about her ideas for the new album in a press release for the announcement. “Bird’s Eye signifies returning to a place of self-trust and unbending intuition while acknowledging the paths and turns I’ve taken to get here,” she said. “Revisiting the most basic parts of my identity has allowed me to fully embrace them and be proud of where I’m going.” In addition to sharing “Love Me Not,” she also dropped “Love Is Blind,” although there’s no music video for that song. Ravyn Lenae Directs Her Own Music Video For “Love Me Not”

When Lenae shared the video on YouTube, fans flocked to the comments section with praise. “I love all of her music but she’s unstoppable when she’s in her pop bag + the choreo part is so intimate and sweet,” one user commented. “A once in a lifetime artist.” Another fan wrote: “No I literally cried. It’s so serious for me when it comes to her lol I LOVE YOU RAVYN! Thank you for your artistry and music.
