Big Sean Breaks Silence On Album Leak

Big Sean just can’t catch a break these days, as his recent On The Radar freestyle elicited people’s ire rather than their impressed thoughts on his rapping. Moreover, you probably already heard that a self-proclaimed Kanye West fan, who claimed that he acted on Ye’s orders, recently and allegedly leaked Sean’s entire new album online. “Since he wanna disrespect Ye so much, here’s the album, f**k him and his whole team,” the supposed leaker shared. “Ye told me to leak it.” Even though this could’ve definitely struck a chord with the Detroit rapper, it seems like he took this all in stride and capitalized on the opportunity to preview a new collab with The Alchemist.

“Might as well start droppin, before they leak it all, got damn [crying-laughing emoji]. BIG SEAN x THE ALCHEMIST soon,” he wrote on Twitter in reaction to all this commotion. The minute-long Uncle Al collab snippet in question sounds quite heavenly, and we’re very excited to hear what they’ve got cooking up. Regardless, folks aren’t happy about this leak at all, whether they are huge fans themselves or just feel bad for an artist going through this.

Big Sean Brushes Off Album Leak

Of course, this all stems from Big Sean’s alleged Kanye West disses on his On The Radar freestyle. “I had to switch the home team ’cause they committed treason,” he raps at one point on the track. “N***as looking for engagement like they got their knee bent / I got better things to do than to find someone to beef with… Man, this industry is terrible, I can’t even vouch / I’ve seen grown men get matching tattoos for the clout.

Meanwhile, if you’re curious about this alleged leak itself, it seems like it’s not all that and that Big Sean will probably have a much different final product, so it might not be worth checking out. “It’s CLEAR this album isn’t finished yet (many open verses, him tryna figure out his flow and cadence on a track) and was not ready for people to hear,” one fan posited on social media. “It’s a high quality bad leak, it’s not even fair to review it.”

Childish Gambino Reveals Tracklist For “Bando Stone And The New World”

Childish Gambino does not do anything halfway. If anything has been gleaned from his decade plus in the limelight, it’s that he commits to whatever he’s doing. Bando Stone and the New World, his brand new album, and last under the Gambino name, is no exception. The album is being touted as one of the most ambitious of his career. The singles, “Lithonia” and “In the Night,” bear this out. With the release date right around the corner, though Gambino finally blessed fans with the official tracklist.

Bando Stone and the New World has 17 songs and multiple features. As expected, both of the lead singles are present in the tracklist. An unexpected detail, however, is that Amaarae, the singer who is featured on “In the Night,” is also present on two other songs. The R&B singer will appear on the album opener, “H3@RT$ W3RE M3@NT TO F7Y,” and the Flo Milli collab “TALK MY SH*T.” Other features on the album include Chloe, Khruangbin, Yeat and Foushee. The versatility of these artists suggests the range of sounds that fans will hear on the album.

Childish Gambino Will Experiment With Different Sounds

While previous reported collaborators like Jorja Smith and Foushee are listed on the album’s tracklist, others are absent. Steve Lacy and Kamasi Washington were two artists who attended the Bando Stone listening party in. Lacy was reported to have worked on the song “Steph’s Beach,” while Washington provided horns on a track called “Survivor.” Both are listed on the final tracklist (“Survivor” has since become “Survive”), but we can assume that both artists are merely uncredited.

What are your thoughts on the tracklist for Bando Stone and New World? Are you excited to listen to the album? Does this have the chance to be Childish Gambino’s best album based on all the information we have? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Ab-Soul Has New Album Hyped By DJ Hed, Who Says It Has “Slaps”

Ab-Soul’s next album may be coming sooner than we thought. In an interview with Elliott Wilson, DJ Hed mentioned that he heard a couple of tracks from Soulo’s latest offering, calling them “slaps.” Hed is close to the TDE camp and was one of the few sources of reliable information for Kendrick Lamar’s side of the Drake battle, so him having heard new music from Ab-Soul is not surprising.

The Carson rapper released Herbert in 2022, six years removed from his last album, Do What Thou Wilt. Soulo has been very open about his mental health struggles. He revealed in an interview with Charlamagne Tha God that he attempted to end his own life earlier that year. Fortunately, he seems to be in a much better headspace now, thanks in part to the support of his peers and family.

Ab-Soul’s New Album Gets Hyped By DJ Hed

Fans immediately found themselves drawn to Herbert for its lyricism and brutal honesty. Both are trademarks of Ab-Soul’s releases. And he did not disappoint. Head of TDE Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith first shared plans for a new Soulo release during a Twitter Q&A in March of last year. He also claimed that a deluxe edition of Herbert was on the way, which is now sitting alongside a deluxe version of SZA’s SOS as albums that TDE promised and have not yet delivered on. So far this year, the TDE crew have been more active with new music. ScHoolboy Q received the lauded Blue Lips, SiR released HEAVY, and Isaiah Rashad announced a new album for this year.

We last saw DJ Hed and Ab-Soul at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out concert. Hed had a set early in the evening, before coming back out at the end of the show for the group photo that capped off Lamar’s performance. Soulo was on stage during Lamar’s set for a Black Hippy reunion alongside ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock. Black Hippy did not perform any of the songs they did together. However, Lamar flawlessly rapped the first verse of his Drake diss “6:16 In LA” with his hand on Soulo’s shoulder, a signficant moment for longtime TDE fans. We don’t know when Ab-Soul’s next album is due, but DJ Hed confirmed that he’s been working on it. That is exciting news for any hip-hop enthusiast.

BLP KOSHER Embraces His Idiosyncrasies On Sophomore Album “Scarecrow”

A lot of people may be quick to dismiss Jewish rapper BLP KOSHER. His dribbling flows and sometimes overly absurd bars might turn off the traditional hip-hop fan. However, we highly encourage you to look past that because the Broward County, Florida native has a lot to offer artistically. The aforementioned qualities are two of the aspects we enjoy in addition to his versatility and beat selection. In February of this year, the 24-year-old rapper and singer began his rollout for previously untitled album. It would be through some vague promotion on social media, and it would not be until March 15 that fans got the lead offering, “Skidoo”. Then, on June 28, “Same Hat” would follow. Still, with little build-up, Scarecrow has been extremely worth the wait as BLP KOSHER is arguably at his best and most diverse.

If you caught “Violent Lullaby” in December of last year, that was just a sliver of what KOSHER can throw at his listeners. His vocal chops on that song, as well as several others on Scarecrow (“Shadow Maze” “Cobwebs”), show that they are unrefined a bit. However, they are not so off-putting that you to immediately skip the track. It goes to show that he is continuing to push himself outside of his comfort zone and be open to criticisms. Speaking of which, that is a main focus of this Bars Mitzvah follow-up. In a statement he mentions how he is embracing his oddities, and he encourages his fans to do the same.

“A collection of intrusive thoughts, life situations and messages combined. This is where weird works so please embrace your imperfections and insecurities and learn to love your inner scarecrow. They will pass right by you, laugh at you, and even fear you, but you are a star”. It is an extremely heartwarming and positive sign for hip-hop that we have artists like BLP KOSHER going and it is part of the reason why Scarecrow works so well.

Sexyy Red Claims She Has A Collab Album With Chief Keef On The Way

Sexyy Red is not slowing down. She’s become one of the hottest stars in hip-hop over the last few years. Part of the reason is her chemistry with established stars like Drake and Nicki Minaj. That being said, Red seems to have the most in common with Chief Keef. The two rappers linked up on the 2023 hit “Ghetto Princess,” and have gotten along famously ever since. Now, it seems, Red and Keef are capitalizing on their chemistry by recording an entire joint album.

Sexyy Red dropped the bombshell of an announcement during a recent interview at Wireless Festival. “That’s my boo,” she said, when asked about Chief Keef. “We droppin’ an album soon. Yeah, for sure. We be workin.” Red assured fans that she already has multiple records with Keef in the stash. When asked what she could say about the joint album, Red broke down what the overall vibe is going to be. “We just be on some money sh*t, some cars sh*t, f*ck these h*es, buy some clothes and keep your hair done,” she asserted.

Sexyy Red And Chief Keef Have Multiple Collabs

A joint album between Sexyy Red and Chief Keef has been a long time coming. The two have been in each other’s orbit for years, and even sparked dating rumors back in June. Kayla B, the sister of the late King Von, posted photos of herself kissing Keef. Sexyy Red responded by posting photos of herself in bed with the Chicago rapper’s jewelry. Despite the rumors, Red maintains that she and Keef have more of a sibling relationship. “Dis just my favorite brudda,” she wrote alongside photos of her and Keef on IG.

That being said, Sexyy Red led fans to question whether there was something more serious going on between her and Chief Keef. Lord Jamar recently went off on Red during an interview, claiming that she looked “icky and hot.” The St. Louis rapper clapped back at Jamar by writing “Ask @chieffkeeffsossa do I stink.” Regardless of what the situation is between the two rappers, their ability to make catchy songs is undeniable. They have four collabs under their belt, and it sounds like they’re going to have a lot more soon.

Eminem Dedicates Another Touching Track To His Children On Jelly Roll-Assisted “Somebody Save Me”

Eminem’s goal for The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) was to symbolically close the book on his Slim Shady alter ego. However, the conclusion is not the happy ending listeners may expect. On “Somebody Save Me” featuring Jelly Roll, Eminem raps from the perspective of him succumbing to his addictions and passing away. The Detroit, Michigan native is loosely making a callback to his 2007 overdose that nearly ended his life. Throughout the song, Eminem apologizes profusely for putting his vices (Slim Shady) above his now three kids, Hailie, Alaina, and Stevie, instead of being there for their biggest accomplishments. His children make a lot of appearances in his lyrics as his Stans know and when they do, he tears himself down a lot for not being the best caretaker for them.

The acclaimed MC has also stated this belief numerous times in interviews as well, like the one with Rolling Stone in 2004 via People. “Bein’ a dad is definitely living a double life. Even before Hailie was born, I was a firm believer in freedom of speech… But once I hit them gates where I live, that’s when I’m Dad… I’m not sayin’ I’m the perfect father, but the most important thing is to be there for my kids and raise them the right way”. It is part of the reason why “Somebody Save Me” is such an emotional ride for longtime fans of Eminem and even Jelly Roll. Both have had their respective grizzly bouts with drugs, and hearing the pain in their deliveries makes for a scary and sad what-could-have-been ending in the context of the album, but also in general.

$NOT Presents His Spacey & Wavy Fourth LP “Viceroy”

$NOT is back with his fourth studio album Viceroy and this time around he is rapping with a restrained presence. However, there are also times where he comes across as evil and maniacal. Or you will hear the Florida MC sound celebratory and happy like on one the promotional tracks, “HILARIOUS”, which features Cochise. Then, as far as the instrumentals go, you are getting your trap fare in a woozier and more lowkey style. You could categorize a fair amount of the beats as plugg if you wanted to. Viceroy is yet another experiment for $NOT but it does not come across as half-baked. Every element feels as if $NOT has been working in this subgenre for decades.

As for where this album falls for the veteran, it comes after his third album, Ethereal which saw its release in 2022. Prior to that, you had two 2020 projects, Beautiful Havoc and – TRAGEDY +. There was some speculation as to what the singles would be for this project, as $NOT put out “CRUEL WORLD” “0%” with ZillaKami, “BULLY” and then the aforementioned “HILARIOUS”. With Viceroy now here, only the latter of the four made the final cut. Listening to this album is quite a hazy experience, and 26-year-old really transports you to the otherworldly soundscape he has created. You feel as if you are in the crib smoking along with him throughout the 17 tracks. Give Viceroy a spin with the links below.

Rema Shows Why He Is Such A Thrilling Afrobeats Artist On “HEIS”

The Afrobeats genre has lately been taking on more of a mellow and sensual vibe. However, Rema is bringing a thunderstorm-like jolt of energy into it with his sophomore album, HEIS. Overall, the “Calm Down” star has continuously been dubbing himself as the next face of his respective lane and he honestly may have a strong case with this project. This all killer and no filler 11-song tracklist rarely allows to take a moment to breathe. From the blistering pace of the opener, “MARCH AM”, to probably “EGUNGUN”, Rema will make the listener dance till they drop. Displaying this much energy on any album is challenge, but when the instrumentals are so diverse, it makes it even more difficult. Rema manages to pull it off and then some on HEIS. Show-stopping performances are plentiful even just on 27-minute listen.

Some of our favorites that we are revisiting include “EGUNGUN”, “BENIN BOYS” with Shallipopi, “MARCH AM”, and the title track. Themes on this project include boastfully repping his hometown of Benin City to reminding everyone of his artistic greatness. Perhaps, the reason why Rema was able to succeed perhaps more than ever before on HEIS was due to his changed mindset. According to Rolling Stone, wanted to focus more on what his fans across the globe would get down to, rather than what he deemed as sufficient. That might sound like a mistake to some, but the results would prove otherwise, Rema seemed like he had a blast making this. “We’re not just making what the people at home would enjoy. We’re also making what we hope the world would also enjoy. I got rid of that mentality getting in the studio, like, ‘I’ll start with what I love’”.

Eminem Wrestles With His Past Addictions On “Habits” Featuring White Gold

There are lot of things that help define the career of Eminem and one of them is his dark past. It is how this entire character/alter ego, Slim Shady, came to be. Since his path to superstardom kicked off at the end of the 1990’s, he has steadily come to grips with his issues. On The Death of Slim Shady, Eminem is working to close this troubling chapter on “Habits”. It features former collaborator White Gold (Music To Be Murdered By) and at the very start of this near five-minute track, Em has a familiar conversation with Slim Shady.

“Thought you got rid of my a**, huh? (Let me go, you sick f***) Alright, here’s what we’re gonna do (Piece of s***) You take this (No) / Or I put a bullet between your f***ing eyes (I don’t wanna)“. Eminem eventually does comply and takes half of an Ativan (drug for epilepsy, anxiety). On White Gold’s chorus, he sings from the perspective of Slim and how Em needs him and wants him to stay. This is his latest attempt to put his problems behind him and it is something he has continuously tried before.

But he has failed to fully accomplish that goal and it could seem that way still. Slim Shady goes from body bag to casket on the cover of the deluxe. The titular character is also now wearing a Jason Voorhees mask on in his casket. If you know anything about the iconic horror movie villain, you know that he is almost unkillable. Maybe it is just for this bonus track version and Slim is gone for good going forward. But we will just have to wait and see until the next Eminem project.
