SZA Got Ghosted By A Few Features She Wanted For Her Album

SZA is in full-on album mode. Her long-awaited sophomore album, S.O.S. is set to arrive this Friday (December 9). As she does her media run to promote the project, the TDE star appeared in an interview with HOT97 on Tuesday (December 6).

Subsequently, she revealed that she hoped for more features to be present on the project. “Sometimes people turn in their verses and sometimes they don’t. A lot of people just like, did not turn in their verses. But I’m grateful for who did,” SZA confessed.

However, the 33-year-old decided not to name any names.

SZA Reveals Tracklist

The tracklist and album cover were revealed on Monday (December 5). The 23-track LP is set to have four features. Additionally, the songs with Don Toliver and Phoebe Bridgers will serve as first-time collaborations between them and SZA.

Furthermore, Travis Scott will make an appearance on the 20th track, “Open Arms.” These two have joined forces in the past, for 2017’s smash hit “Love Galore” off of Ctrl. The song is now Grammy-nominated.

A posthumous appearance from Wu-Tang legend Ol’ Dirty Bastard will also appear on the album’s outro, “Forgiveness.”

“I talked to his estate. It really just came from a piece of documentary footage. He was freestyling in the background of the footage so I took the audio. It’s cool,” the “Broken Clocks” singer told Nessa of HOT97 in the interview.

The album is backed by four singles, “Good Days,” “I Hate U” and “Shirt.” The fourth and final single, “Blind” was recently premiered during the singer’s second SNL performance.

CTRL Deluxe

Earlier this year, the St. Louis native dropped a deluxe version of her debut album, Ctrl. Its release coincided with the project’s five-year anniversary. Consequently, seven new tracks appeared on the deluxe, including an alternate version of “Love Galore” with previously unheard vocals.

Metro Boomin Discusses Working With Takeoff For “Heroes and Villains”

Metro Boomin says that he had initially planned to work with Takeoff for three songs on his new album, Heroes and Villains. The late Migos rapper was shot and killed back in November before the two could fully collaborate. Instead. Metro was able to get Takeoff on “Feel The Fiyaaaah.”

Metro Boomin spoke about working with Takeoff during a sit-down with GQ published on Wednesday.

“I was already gonna make sure anything with anybody on here is crazy, but it became more of a responsibility, like, ‘I gotta make sure I do my boys justice, even beyond music,’” he says. “These are my real brothers. I love Thug, I love Gunna, I love Take. I’ve known Take for so long, ten years, from when we were both 18. We took our first trip to L.A. together, me, Sonny Digital, Migos.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Metro discussed other artists he’s worked with. In particular, the iconic producer spoke about the negative response to his album with Big Sean, Double of Nothing.

“I still do like the album and I’m not gonna get into how people try to do Big Sean or treat him online, which I know played a big part of it,” Metro says. “I know a lot of those songs or a lot of the shit that he said, if another huge rapper or rappers similar to him said it, they would just let it slide.”

Metro released Heroes and Villains on December 2, four years after his debut studio album. The new project features Future, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Young Thug, the Weeknd, and more in addition to Takeoff.

SZA Hints That She Might Be Done With Music Soon

SZA is set to drop her highly-anticipated album S.O.S. this Friday. But, according to a new interview, the singer-songwriter might be hanging up her singing career in the near future.

The 33-year-old opened up about the pressures she faces as an artist during an interview with radio personality Nessa Diab.

“People are expecting so much from me, and then it’s like if it’s not what people expect then they attack you,” she revealed on Nessa On Air. “And then it’s just like, ‘Ugh, whatever.’ Then it makes me never wanna put out music again. It’s just exhausting.”

After Nessa brought up SZA’s past comments about taking up farming instead of music, the “Love Galore” songstress nodded her head in agreement.

“I’m definitely about to get up out of here shortly.” she continued.

After admitting that she isn’t the most present on social media, the St. Louis native then joked about copping a flip phone with no apps.

SZA revealed the tracklist for S.O.S. earlier this week ahead of the album’s debut. The 23-track project will feature a number of notable artists, including Travis Scott, Don Toliver, and Phoebe Bridgers.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard will also appear on the album, likely as a sample. The hip-hop icon passed away in 2004 following an accidental drug overdose.

Teasing the album’s tracklist, SZA uploaded two photos of herself laying in a muddy puddle with her waist and butt partially exposed.

“Which version for back tracklist?” the singer asked her nearly 7 million Twitter followers on Monday.

Last week, she released the cover art for S.O.S., which shows the Grammy-nominated musician sitting at the end of a diving board and surrounded by dark blue water.

She shared that the picture was inspired by Princess Diana, who was photographed in the same fashion in 1997 shortly before her death.

Dusty Locane Drops Off “Catch Da Flu”

Dusty Locane’s keeping the momentum high as the year comes to an end. The rapper made a mark in 2021 as the hype around his “ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN FREESTYLE” picked up. Though critics and fans often compared him to Pop Smoke, it hasn’t limited him. In fact, he continues proving that he’s a dominant force in his own right and uplifting the New York drill scene.

This week, the rapper released his latest body of work, Catch Da Flu. On the new project, he showcases his growth in the past two years. “I went from nothing in my bank account to $40K for a feature,” he raps through his deep gravelly voice on “TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS.” The 5-song opus captures his hunger, especially after having such a prolific year so far.

CATCH DA FLU is largely produced by Kajun Waters, who handled five out of the six tracks. However, Dusty also links up with Revenge of Mozart and Scubaliciouss for “BLOC WORC FREESTYLE (9HQ5).” It’s a short effort but one that continues to showcase Dusty Locane honing into his strengths and delivering blistering bangers.

CATCH DA FLU actually serves as Dusty’s fourth offering of the year. He unveiled ROLLIN N CONTROLLIN in August, featuring all three parts of the eponymous song. Then, he linked up with Rah Swish, Onpointlikeop and Ron Suno for SAY DAT, a collaborative effort that helped amalgamate the different drill sounds in each borough of New York.

It seems as if Dusty Locane is also revving up to elevate his team. Earlier this year, he dropped off NIGHTMARE ON FIFTH, highlighting himself and the artists he’s associated with.

We’re certainly not complaining about the influx of new music from Dusty Locane this year. Hopefully, we’ll be hearing just as much from him in the new year.

  1. TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS
  2. NO VACCINE
  3. FROM DA FLU
  4. SPAZZ OUT
  5. BLOCC WORC FREESTYLE (9HQ5)
  6. MY WAY

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Drops “Water (Drowning Pt. 2)” With Kodak Black

Years after their hit 2017 collab “Drowning,” A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Kodak Black are back at it again with “Water (Drowning Pt. 2).” The new single dropped earlier today (Dec. 6), on the Hoodie SZN rapper’s 27th birthday.

The three-minute track features a heavy bass with both rappers offering fans a unique flow and original lyrics.

“Water (Drowning Pt. 2)” will be featured on A Boogie’s upcoming album ME VS MYSELF, which is set to drop this Friday, December 9. Also listed on the project are G Herbo, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, H.E.R., and Tory Lanez.

ME VS MYSELF will serve as the New York rapper’s first project since releasing B4 AVA last year, which also featured Lil Durk.

Meanwhile, A Boogie is also gearing up for his upcoming album tour and is scheduled to perform at venues across the globe starting in February 2023. Stops will include Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angles, Toronto, and the United Kingdom.

Following the tour tickets being released for purchase last week, over half of the rapper’s concerts have already been sold out. Similarly, his December 16 show at New York’s Appolo Theatre sold out in less than 10 minutes, proving just how big of a fanbase A Boogie has earned.

Last year, he opened up to Billboard about his growing success and the process behind choosing songs for his projects, saying, “Every year, it’s like we’re climbing up more and more. You have a different anticipation, and that anticipation turns into my highlights. Every time I drop an album, the anticipation grows even more.”

“I’m not even talking about the quantity, I’m talking about the quality,” A Boogie continued. “I don’t even pay no mind to how many songs I can put on a tape. It’s all about what songs matches the [vibes] and what songs sound good together for a project in total. That’s where I’m at right now. I’m just trying to make sure everything sounds legit when I throw that s**t out.”

Frank Ocean Wipes IG Page Sparking Speculation About New Music

Frank Ocean deleted the entirety of his Instagram feed on Monday, sparking speculation that he may be gearing up to release new music soon. A new album from Ocean would be his first full-length project since 2016’s Blonde.

It’s also distinctly possible that he could be ready to introduce fans to a new project for his fashion and jewelry design brand Homer, or that he has nothing in the plans and wanted to give his Instagram page a makeover.

Ocean has also been involved in talks with A24 to write and direct his debut feature film.

There is some credence to the theory that new music from Ocean isn’t far off, considering that he recently confirmed he spent the summer working in a studio in Malibu while speaking with Dr. James Fadiman on Blonded Radio for Apple Music.

“Forgive how, like, free associative this might feel,” he said at the time. “… I was working in Malibu this summer and I would go out, like, pretty late from the studio and there’s, like, a big population of coyotes in Malibu. And then when I would go outside I would see, like, all these bunnies running around and it reminded me of video games where you’re, like, a wizard or something. And you’re playing this role in this game and you’re running around and you have these little things to pick up and put in the pouch.”
