Terrace Martin And James Fauntleroy Come Together For A Laid Back Collab EP “Nova”

Terrace Martin and James Fauntleroy have given us angelic pieces of music for so many years. Now, they are teaming up for this new EP called “Nova.” It is a six-track 22-minute-long venture into serene beats and beautiful singing that fans are sure to eat up. The two have worked together before on numerous occasions on songs like “Drones,” “Reflection,” “Too Late,” and many more. The first two aforementioned tracks appear on Martin’s 2021 album DRONES.

“Reflection” is a track that is a heavy-hitting collaboration in particular because it shows how much chemistry the two have together. The woozy production and beautiful vocal work were a sign that both needed to make a full-length effort happen. Sure enough, we got that and it does not disappoint. Unfortunately, there are not as many songs as we would like, but the short time leaves more room for more ideas to bubble up.

Terrace Martin And James Fauntleroy Provide Ultimate Chill Vibes

Terrace Martin and James Fauntleroy utilize the jazz genre to the max on this EP and do so with great appreciation. It does not sound like a cheesy take on the culture that jazz has created for the music scene at large. But, that is because Terrace worked on possibly the greatest jazz rap album of all time To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar. Songs like “King Kunta,” and “These Walls” had Martin’s input and they were some of the most celebrated tracks from that astounding record. The same energy is here for Nova in full force.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new EP from James Fauntleroy and Terrace Martin called Nova? Is this one of the best jazz rap albums you have listened to? What is your favorite track from the project? Should they make another joint effort in the future? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. J. Cole Claims He And Burna Boy Are The New Shaq And Kobe

J. Cole recently hopped on one of Burna Boy’s new tracks, from the Nigerian performer’s album I Told Them… In his verse on “Thanks,” J. Cole compares he and Burna Boy to NBA stars Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. Considering it’s the pair’s first time ever on a track together, it was a pretty bold comparison. With that being said, fans are loving the collab.

“Cole and Burna, Shaq and Kobe/ Winnin’ a ring, then we gon’ repeat and three-peat/ Them nerds hate, they seat geeks/ They peepin’ us on the low, we like the cheat sheet,” he rhymes. Burna Boy has also previously showcased his appreciation for J. Cole, even dubbing the artist a “legend.” It appears as though they see themselves as the next big duo, meaning that it’s possible fans will hear more collabs in the future.

Burna Boy confirmed that they have another track on deck in an interview for Complex’s “360 With Speedy” this week. In another recent interview with Zane Lowe, Burna Boy also shared how the two of them ended up working together. “Legend, man,” he said of J. Cole. “The truth is often hidden, but when you come across it and you are a person of truth yourself, you can’t help but recognize it. You know what I mean? That’s really the story of me and J Cole. It’s like, I recognize it.”

“That’s something I’ve always looked at, his settings, and thought, ‘Rah, that would be a nice, very conducive way to end up,’” he added. Aside from J. Cole, Burna Boy’s new album also includes features from 21 Savage, Dave, RZA, and more. Amid excitement for the LP, Burna Boy recently came under fire for some controversial comments he made about Black Americans. Fat Joe Reflects On The Time He & Big Pun Waited In Line For Eminem’s “Slim Shady LP”

Fat Joe and Big Pun is one of the most important friendships in New York hip-hop, resulting in a cultural shift and a lot of great music. While Pun tragically passed away, Joe still honors his memory and does right by him with everything he does. For example, the rapper recently sat down with the Rap Radar podcast and recalled a wholesome story of their experiences before attending the Grammys in 1999 for their nomination. The night before, they waited in line like regular people for The Slim Shady LP by Eminem at Tower Records in Los Angeles. At the height of their fame, they never stopped being fans, especially for someone they liked as much as Marshall Mathers.

“Eminem is a god,” Fat Joe told the show’s co-hosts. “I don’t give a f**k who or what you think, he’s a god. Somebody [who] shifted the whole algorithm when he came up. Me and Big Pun, Big Pun was the fist Latino to sell two million records solo. We’re nominated for a Grammy, and the night before we go to the Grammys, we are waiting [in] line in L.A. at Tower Records for f***ing Eminem’s album. On line, nominated for a Grammy, me and Big Pun on line to get that motherf***in’ Eminem album. You tell me he ain’t a rap god.”

Fat Joe Tells The Story Of How He Waited In Line For The Slim Shady LP With Big Pun

Big Pun received a nomination for Best Rap Album for his debut, Capital Punishment. When he lost to Jay-Z’s Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life, he apparently didn’t take it well. “Big Pun was nominated for two Grammys,” Fat Joe explained to XXL in March. “He went and got the finger waves like Dru Down. It’s that iconic picture where we look like the Kingpin. The big-a** suits. I remember when we went to the Grammys, they had told us that they do the hip-hop awards before, and we lost. Ricky Martin was doing the ‘Living La Vida Loca’ and I’m looking around. It’s Aretha Franklin. It’s Kirk Franklin. I waited my whole life to get there.

“Pun was like, ‘Yo, f**k these people, man,’” he continued. “‘They jerked us.’ I was like, ‘What?’ and he was like ‘Let’s go.’ I was like, ‘Yo, Pun, are you serious?’ He was like, ‘Yo, let’s go. F**k that, you my brother, let’s go.’ I was like, ‘Aight, f**k it. We gotta go.’ That was a big moment for us. We left. We left the Grammys. And we were strapped, like the cover, at the Grammys.” For more news on Big Pun’s legacy and the latest updates on Fat Joe, keep checking in with HNHH.

Burna Boy Saves The Summer With “I Told Them” Ft. J. Cole, 21 Savage, RZA & More

Nigerian sensation Burna Boy has once again taken the music scene by storm with the release of his highly anticipated album, I Told Them. This 15-track masterpiece is a blend of Afrobeat rhythms, R&B melodies, and hip-hop influences, showcasing Burna Boy’s signature style that has continued to shake up the world. In the past few weeks, Burna Boy’s built up the anticipation with a handful of singles. He held down the summer with the release of “Talibans II” alongside Byron Messia and shared the 21 Savage-assisted banger, “Sittin On Top Of The World.”

I Told Them finds Burna Boy diving deeper into hip-hop influences more so than in the past. In addition to 21 Savage, he enlisted J. Cole who appears on “Thanks,” which is apparently one of two collaborations they have together. Additionally, he called on British rap titan Dave, who he previously collaborated with on “Location,” for their new collab, “Cheat On Me.” However, it doesn’t stop there. The Wu-Tang Clan’s presence is felt across the project as both RZA and GZA appear on the project on “12 Jewels” and the title track, respectively.

Burna Boy’s Reign Continues

In the past few years, Burna Boy’s helped usher African sounds into the United States. His consistency transformed him into a trailblazer in the music industry, one that has undoubtedly played a role in major labels’ newfound interest in Afrobeats. Since the release of projects like African Giant and Twice As Tall, Burna Boy has continued to elevate his career through his global appeal, especially with his ability to integrate different sounds into his own.

During a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Burna Boy explained the significance of the title. “This one is for the part of my own home and the people in my own home who didn’t believe or doubt it, or still doubt, or any type of thing. And not just them, it’s like everyone that ever heard me speak in the past or when I’d first started,” he explained. “You can go back to my old tweets and stuff. I basically predicted everything that’s happening now. So this is basically that. It’s fun to tell people something is true, and they doubt, and then they end up seeing it. There’s no greater feeling.” Check out the project above.

Saba Shares Details On Four Songs From His Upcoming Album

Earlier this year, Saba released two new singles both of which were collaborations with legendary producer No I.D. “Back In Office” came first in April and was followed by “hue_man nature” in June. The pair have an entire album together coming soon and while specific details on its release date aren’t available yet Saba gave XXL some details on particular songs from the project.

He shares details on four different songs from the album starting with “Waba.” “We had a studio session in 2019. I found this beat from that session that I guess I overlooked then. This was a fun record for me to make because I had to give myself permission to just talk sh*t,” he explained. Saba describes a song called “Black Suburbans” as being similar to “Back In Office.” “I’m going back to what made me fall in love with rap in the first place. It just feels like a classic rap record and not to toot my own horn,” he says about the song.

Saba Describes Songs From No I.D. Collab

He finishes the discussion by sharing details on “Stomping,” which he calls one of his favorite songs on the forthcoming album. ” I just be walking throughout the day sometimes and it’s in my head. That song is kinda important to me because I don’t really have a lot of songs that feel that way. To me, the funnest part about what I do is being able to find interesting pockets. Pockets that complement the beat, but they might be the opposite of what the listener is expecting to hear sometimes. “Stomping” is one of the records where I feel like I’m inside of a different pocket.”

Saba is following up his album Few Good Things. The project dropped early last year and featured G Herbo, 6LACK, Smino, Foushee, Black Thought, and more. What do you think of the details Saba shared about his forthcoming solo album with No I.D.? Let us know in the comment section.
