Playboi Carti is one of those artists who is impossible to truly pin down sometimes. Overall, he has a history of promising new music and then not delivering. He knows how to rile up his fans and for the most part, they hate it. However, he still retains them in the palm of his hand. It is a very interesting dynamic that continues to be just as much frustrating as it is exhilarating. That being said, it seems like Carti is ready to release something, for real this time.

Yesterday, he began posting on his social media, his Instagram story in particular. It was here that he dropped a graphic that read “I Am Music.” Numerous producers began sharing this image, including Pharrell Williams. This, of course, gave credence to the idea that he was going to drop, very soon. Well, now, DJ Akademiks is weighing in the situation. He had the inside scoop on Whole Lotta Red, and he now has another scoop with this new Carti project.

Playboi Carti Coming Soon

As Akademiks explains, this new album is going to drop in January. Carti released Whole Lotta Red on Christmas of 2020. Now, he is looking to flip things on its head by dropping something in the new year. Whether or not he carries forth the punk and metal sound from his last album, still remains to be seen. Either way, this is a project that a lot of fans cannot wait to hear. There is a lot of promise here, and we cannot wait to hear it. His recent run of festival performances have been a joy to watch. Based on the presence of a live guitarist, it would be cool to have that on a studio album.

Danny Brown Announces North American Tour Next Year Following New Album

Last month, Danny Brown released his highly anticipated new album, Quaranta. The introspective project has reportedly been in the works for a long time and caught up in label limbo for years. The album was an instant hit for critics and quickly became a mainstay of many albums of the year lists in the past few weeks. Next year, fans of the album will get the chance to see Danny perform it in person when he takes off on a pretty extensive North American tour.

The 24-date tour will cross the USA and Canada in March and April of next year. It gets underway with a show in Boston on March 12 and runs a little over a month before wrapping up in Nashville on April 14. Tickets for the show will go on sale tomorrow at 10 AM local time. Earlier this year Danny embarked on another tour with JPEGMAFIA. Those performances followed the release of the pair’s collaborative album Scaring The Hoes which also proved to be a major critical darling. Danny Brown’s “Quaranta” Tour

Both of the singles from Danny’s new album have quickly become fan favorites. Nicki Minaj Will Appear On A New Episode Of “Watch What Happens Live”

It’s a big week for Nicki Minaj who is gearing up to release her new album Pink Friday 2. It’s her first studio album in 5 years since 2018’s Queen and she’s been teasing it for week. She even had Lil Wayne fill in for her at a recent Jingle Ball performance just so she could keep her album releasing on time. While all the attention is on Nicki, she’s also going to appear on a new episode of Watch What Happens Live.

The host of the show Andy Cohen tweeted the news out earlier today while also calling for fans to contribute to it. “Tweet me all of your questions NOW for @NICKIMINAJ! She will be joining me for an upcoming #WWHL!” his announcement tweet reads. Fans immediately flocked to the comments to share their excitement. Nicki is often bombastic and occasionally even audacious in interviews in a way her Barbz adore. It’s unclear when exactly the episode will drop but it’s likely to be soon coinciding with the release of her new album which is just a few days away. Nicki Minaj’s “Watch What Happens Live” Episode Coming Soon

Nicki Minaj is doing quite a bit to build up as much hype for Pink Friday 2 as possible. Earlier this week she described it as one of the best albums of all time and plenty of fans believe her. Last month, she did a cover story with Vogue which also included an original freestyle and a special episode of the publication’s “73 Questions” show.

The LOX want Andre 3000 to return to hip-hop after the Outkast rapper recently released his debut studio album, New Blue Sun, as an instrumental project. Appearing on The Breakfast Club without Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P reflected on Andre’s latest effort and labeled him the greatest of all time while doing so.

“Nah, so much to talk about Dre,” Sheek said. “It’s a lot, man. Just how you word it and put it. You don’t gotta — of course we not talking about being in the hallways or trapping and all that too much but it’s a lot. Let us know what you been going through.”

Styles added: “Rap about his travels. He’s one of the greatest to ever do it. He could’ve rapped over the flute beats. Straight up. I think rapping about what is he gonna rap about is a good point-of-view. It gives different people different perspectives.” As for why Andre decided against rapping on the new record, he explained during an interview with GQ that doing so wouldn’t feel genuine. “Sometimes it feels inauthentic for me to rap because I don’t have anything to talk about in that way,” Dre admitted. “I’m 48 years old. And not to say that age is a thing that dictates what you rap about, but in a way it does. And things that happen in my life, like, what are you talking about? ‘I got to go get a colonoscopy.’ What are you rapping about? ‘My eyesight is going bad.’”

21 Savage is currently making his way around Europe on a mini tour, after finally receiving his green card earlier this year. Most recently, he headlined a show at London’s O2 Arena, sharing an exciting announcement with the crowd. He announced that he’s got a new album on the way, advising listeners to get prepared.

“My album finna drop,” 21 Savage revealed. “So, y’all get ready.” Fans have been waiting for his third album for years now, and it’s safe to say they can’t wait to hear what he has in store for them. This isn’t the first time he’s hinted at an upcoming project this year either. He got followers talking with a cryptic Tweet in August. “It’s time,” he wrote simply, along with a slew of side-eye emojis.

21 Savage Tells Fans To “Get Ready” For New Music

21 Savage didn’t provide the crowd with many more details of the project, thus leaving its release date a mystery. He was just recently spotting filming what appears to be a new music video in Brixton, however, suggesting that it could be just around the corner. He’s yet to drop anything on his own in 2023, but regardless, he’s had quite a year. He teamed up with Drake for the It’s All A Blur tour in support of their joint album, Her Loss, which was wildly successful. The LP also has them in the running for multiple Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album.

Tracks from Her Loss are nominated for Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Melodic Rap Performance. He’s nominated once again in the Melodic Rap Performance category for he and Burna Boy’s collab, “Sittin’ on Top of the World.” His Spotify listeners also came through this year, earning him a staggering total of six billion streams. Sean Leon Releases An Emotional But Beautiful Tribute Album To His Late Brother With “In Loving Memory”

Sean Leon’s career has been long and not many people may know about that. The Canadian singer and rapper has been at it since 2013 and has not slowed down at all. Sure he may take a year or two off, but when he returns, it is in a big way. For example, after a few releases in 2014, Leon waited until 2017 to come back. But, he would give the fans three projects that year. He is making up for lost time once again after taking a break after 2018, to drop tree projects in the last year or so.

This one could be his most emotional one yet. In Loving Memory is a tribute album and a soundtrack all wrapped into one. His brother tragically lost his life in 2020 and he is remembering him in a big way. There will be (?) an accompanying film called House of Leon. There is not a whole lot of information on it. It could be out or it could not be. Regardless, this album is truly stunning.

Listen To In Loving Memory By Sean Leon

Leon brings on some familiar faces like Daniel Caesar and Kanye West. There was a good amount of hype about this project for that reason. Leon appeared on Donda and Donda 2 and there was hope that the Chicago legend would have some vocal work on it. Big Scarr Drops Some Cold Tracks On His Posthumous Album “Frozone”

Memphis, Tennessee has brought us a lot of exciting voices in rap over the past few years. One of those rising talents includes Big Scarr. If you have not heard his material before, he has that signature deep and intimidating voice. It is very similar to Key Glock and Young Dolph.

Unfortunately, his legacy in the hip-hop genre was short lived. The then 22-year old rapper tragically passed away from a drug overdose. TMZ Hip Hop reported this, as well as a lot of other publications on December 23 of last year. It was obviously shocking news. As many estates have for other rappers, they are still getting some music out to help continue the spread of their artistry.

Listen To Frozone By Big Scarr

That is the case here for Scarr’s team. In fact, this is the second album from them this year. Gucci Mane’s 1017 Global Music label, which Scarr was a part of was behind this. Guwop announced it on his Instagram yesterday. This latest LP is called Frozone and it might be one of the best put together posthumous releases in recent memory. Clearly, Scarr was at a high level during these recordings. There is tons quality spitting and beat selection. One of the tracks to check out is “Still The Same.” The use of the constant piano keys bring a fast tempo style, which Scarr absolutely shreds. If you are looking for solid trap bangers with a Southern tinge, this is the project for you.

Jay-Z is one of the greatest rappers to ever live. Overall, his resume is cemented and he will go down as the GOAT to a lot of people. That said, fans have been very excited about his next project. He has 13 albums to his name and fans have wanted that 14th project for a while. Unfortunately, the album has yet to drop, and Jay has yet to even announce it. However, his latest auction for the “Book Of HOV” exhibit is now leading to some speculation that the album is on the horizon.

According to People, there is a case for each album in the exhibit. That said, there is a 14th case which is empty. One could deduce in their head that this is some sort of teaser that a 14th album is, in fact, on the horizon. Of course, that has not been confirmed and is simply wishful thinking. While speaking with Gayle King earlier this year, Hov noted that there are a few conditions that must be met in order for him to release music.
